[Q] .gpx? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I am using a route optimizaton program on my desktop. I have lots of addresses to visit and the planner will organise them efficiently.
Is there any way i can upload the .gpx file to google maps on my phone so i can navigate the route?
Thanks.

Yes, you can import it to your maps, which syncs with your phone, and access it from there as well. I'm not sure about the exact procedure, I did it this summer. I think you might have to convert it to .kml and you can import that. A quick google search would have helped you a lot more .. this is the first result: import .gpx google maps

thanks,
i hoped there was an app for it or something

export to csv and then import to google...
sorry to tell you that, but that was the way i found is the only way to go. there is an app in the market (forgot the name), which made me wipe in the end, as it made my hero crash constantly. afaik this is a general problem with that app and the hero. forgot the name of the app, sorry.

use autostarts or startup auditor from market, both paid. i use startups, works great, not only for boot but also for other triggers which could start apps.

good luck, but keep in mind you have to do the csv thinggy only once, so before you search 4 hours for a solution bite the apple and take that 20 minutes to do the csv procedure...
1) The app kendong2 is referring to is called 'Export Contacts' and I've got it working fine on MCR3.0 with no crashes etc.
The process for me was pretty simple. Exported csv of contacts, opened it in notepad on PC to check it, closed it without saving and uploaded it to Google. Google even helped to 'consolidate' entries where I already had a gmail address for someone, and offered to put the gmail address alongside the phone contact details.
Try this. As kendon says, it only needs done once. Then you can uninstall the app. You also get the benefit that even if you wipe or lose the phone, just put your gmail details in on install and all your contacts appear again by 'magic'
Sorry, can't help with calendar issue. Does Hero support shared calendars?
Any other questions, just ask
HTH
sorry is wasn't clear on that, what i meant:
there is an app that converts the phone contacts to google contacts, which didn't work for me. and from what i read it has a general problem with the hero...
idk about an app to export to csv (i did it with outlook), but that should work fine, as it does only READ the phonebook on the hero, which shouldn't have much potential for crashes

You could use Password Safe Lite/Full Version
The full version allows you to backup to SD card or export/import csv formats.
I have Password Safe and it's good. Recently, I saw that the Handy Safe is now on the Andriod Market. You will have to write in the data one by one, I did. Pain in the arse....but I could not think of any other way?
I waited for months for Spb to release Wallet for Android. There's a big thread on their forums (two actually) requesting it, but all they'll say is that they're working on bringing their products to Android.
So I gave up, and after looking into a few options decided on LastPass. They don't have an Spb Wallet import option (though you could always ask for one), but the product is great. All you data is stored (encrypted) on their cloud, they have extensions for all the major browsers (including Chrome), and have apps for all the mobile platforms of choice (including Android).
A premium account is $12/year and gives access to their mobile apps, but if you prefer you can stay with a free account and access your passwords through their mobile website.
export sbp wallet

Thank you so much. Great find.
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
the import from spb wallet does not work for me
Import from SPB Wallet
Import from SPB Wallet works with Safe Wallet v2.0.3.
SPB, along with a few other companies, just can't figure out how to make the same kind of money off Android as they did with WM...with all the free apps on market, they can't compete with 10 or 15 dollar apps. I would easily pay that to not have had to redo all my wallet info. I mean that was the whole reason for using it...but I went with 'pocket' for android...since it syncs with dropbox.
EDIT: Wow, wishing I hadn't at the moment...just found B-Folders...runs on every platform and specifically imports spb wallet text.
So the sync wasn't perfect, it did however get all data...it's just in 1 imported folder, so will have to reorganize...but all the info is there. It's a bit spendy, but I love the idea of being able to sync it to as many devices and pc as I want without using a cloud server.
I found this for SPB Wallet to KeePass, and then to KeePassDroid import.
Basically, you export from SPB Wallet as .txt, then trough this you convert the .txt to .xml format, which is readable for the desktop version of KeePass (I succeeded with xml v1.0 import on KeePass for windows), and then you move the .kdbx to android and open it with KeePassDroid.
Works for me although it doesn't import the categories as they are in spb, but it's ok
Now available http://www.spb.com/android-software/wallet/
NO WAY!
I wrote spb asking if there were plans for this...with no reply...spent $30 dollars transferring and setting up inferior option over the last month. Now it arrives!
There's no emoticon to represent my simultaneous feeling of happiness and frustration!
....anyways just tried it out...and it's not a quick crappy port...fully functional and great just like WM and Desktop versions...plus it's 50% off right now.
$3.50 => jump on it
Thanks for the post...would not have known for a while!

Anyone using this, and having sync issues. It seems like a crazy way to sync with Gmail account involved? I got a sync Android to PC, but when I try the other way it says cannot connect to gmail with that username/password...even though I tried 10 times and they are correct. I think a better syncing method will be dropbox with wallet file...if only dropbox android app was a fully functional app and did live syncing.

It is a known bug, w/o a solution at the moment...I've been talking to Spb, they are working on it....it's still a random issue, and nobody knows why yet. I see you got a successful one...be careful...there is missing entries with some syncs for me...and if you sync a 2nd time, they will disappear on both sides and be gone forever. I've been doing full backups and just syncing the file for now. ie dropbox, or if you haven't been using MyPhoneExplorer...amazing program to sync anything you want....files, folders, contacts, calendars (Thunderbird too).
I'm sure you're watching updates as well, but I'll post here as soon as a fixed update comes out.
I got an update 2.0.1 a few minutes ago...fixed sync issues for me.

Two news about:
1. SafeWallet allow you to import directly from SPB Wallet format, and have a desktop app to sync.
2. This week SPB launch SPB Wallet for Android, I don´t install it yet but in the official video looks exactly like in WinMo and, apparently, have desktop sync to.

The desktop sync is horrible...it syncs via a Gmail account only...by sending attachments of your .swl file. It does not encrypt your password, so you cannot save it. Also, it hardly ever works, DeskTop to Gmail...fails 90% of the time. Spb is aware of issue...but haven't heard back about when it will be fixed or how they plan to do it. Hopefully they are abandoning this silly email sync.

Thank you for help.
I've found the way but is little bit tricky but it works
First think what we have to do is download android app "Jorte" to phone and then:
1. Set in windows reginal option, date type and global saparate ","
2. Make export file (*.csv -dos type with comma separate ) in outlook
3. By excel, adjust data layout according Jorte app calendar needs
4. Copy file to right place on SD card
5. Import events from file in side Jorte application
In from of my is improvments this solution form few setps to olny one step
Idea is use excel visual basic to make export file by outlook and adjust data layout and copy to memory card on phone

Import Bookmarks to Firefox Android?

I have searched everywhere but have not found a way to import my bookmarks to the Firefox Android app. It appears to me that the only option at the moment is to enter them manually, a deal killer if you have a lot of bookmarks.
Does anyone know how to do this, preferably with organizational folders in place?

How to Sync my life using my Galaxy S3?

Hey guys,
I've got a Galaxy S3 running Android 4.1.1 (CheckROM 5.5) which I'm very happy with, however I don't think I'm using it to the full of its potential. This new Google app seems to think it can sync my life, however I don't know how to use it properly.
I'm a sales rep so I'm on the road a fair bit, booking appointments, writing down notes etc. I use gmail for my personal email, however my office uses Microsoft Outlook for emails.
At the moment, I've got a notebook, in which I write down appointments (I don't want to carry a heavy diary around, as well as my notebook, camera, laser, phone, wallet etc etc), take notes, have a to-do list etc etc.
I'm just wondering if there's a way to put in appointments, as well as write notes, on my phone which somehow sync real-time to my work and home computers, and vice versa.
Also, a to-do list would be nice.
Is there a way to do all of this to simplify my life and make me more efficient? I don't mind spending money on apps if that's what is required.
Any advice or recommendations are appreciated!!
Cheers
Google
Google calendar is on phone, so set up Google on pc and phone.
Ditto Google tasks
Ditto contacts
Google drive for documents. (You can get basic office editing site and viewer of play store.
All of these have lots of settings to play with for ie. Notifications, adding locations to appointments, so linking in with navigation + maps.
You just need to dive in and explore the potential

Thanks for the advice. What about notes?
And how do I install 'Google' on my work computer? Is there a widget for my desktop or can it be sync'd with Outlook or something?
Cheers
You are able to use dropbox also, and samsung has some usefull cloud storage capabilities for contacts and sms/mms.

just type in Google to search, then log in to your account, and there it all is, likewise, for the phone you can find all the Google apps in the play store, though most of them are built into the operating system already.......avoid using the Samsung cloud facilities in my opinion they eat battery, and you will be a slave to Samsung!
---------- Post added at 03:29 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:27 AM ----------
Also, Google tasks is their note taking facility, which can be synched with calendar as well

For outlook sync with Google you've got an app named outlook4gmail which is very convenient http://www.scand.com/products/outlook4gmail/
Check out evernote
Evernote is great for notes. We use it in my business for job reporting. from the PC we attach a job sheet and any information the staff need on the road or onsite, the guys can then enter product used, notes etc and we have an instant permanent record that is available from any device or PC linked to the account. Also add
Springpad is similar
Dropbox is also good for documents (google drive is ok, but you can't edit office documents) then use polaris office or similar to edit office documents.
Anydo is a good todo list, very easy to add things to do and check them off (keep notes with them too).
Yes to google calendar - i don't use outlook any more. run as many calendars as you want. they all sync to the same one.
Now the only problem is escaping work.
