i know these prl's pretty much tell the phone when and what towers to roam on.. i think i am correct. anyway the service at my house is HORRID on sprint! i mean absolutely horrid. is there a way to edit these prl's so that my phones roam threshold to roam will be more towards verizon.. because i pretty much have to actually lose service before it roams on verizon at my house.. and even then it switches back and forth, so service is pretty much a big 0000000000 ...
can a prl be edited to pretty much stay on the stronger roaming signal (verizon) until a fairly strong sprint signal is captured.. this would eliminate the need to keep switching the verizon prl i am using to a sprint prl when i leave home so i dont draw red flags for roaming all the time!!.
What ROM are you using?
no rom.. i am not rooted.. i am just using verizon prl to get service via qpst.. i am using 0001 prl..
i am actually using 0001 verizon prl while home and then switching to stock sprint when i leave.. it would be great to not have to do this crap!.. seems the prl could be edited with better thresholds to stay on verizon while im home with crap service.

Try the 11115 PRL, it's a business PRL and Sprint won't kill your service for roaming on Verizon too much
any links to 11115 prl?
This is Sprint's 01115 PRL. I think its the same as what you are requesting. If its not, then disregard....

AFAIK, no PRL is going to do what you want. 11115 will allow you to roam on 3G more often but it won't change the threshold at which it switches over to roaming on Verizon towers. I wish there was a way to do that! I'd love to be able to tell it to switch to Verizon towers when the signal drops below 2 bars on Sprint or something like that. I think that's embedded in the radio software and not even the ROMs can access/change that. You'd probably need a custom radio update and I'm not aware of anyone "hacking" those.

I would call Sprint about an Airave
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1189192&highlight=airave
Check out this link above from an earlier thread. They might give you a free airave and that should solve the problem you are having at home.
Be careful with Verizon prl, a lot of people are getting their lines terminated because they data roam too much.
The Airave isn't that great either. The one they are giving out now is pretty horrible for texting.

I had to call sprint 6 different times to complain bout service at home and finally they sent me one free. I have full 3g throughout my entire house.
The airrave wont work if you don't havea home internet connection right?

The AIRAVE requires a constant power and broadband Internet connection to
operate. In the event of an outage, your phone will automatically try to obtain
service directly from the Nationwide Sprint network if coverage is available.
Hey all, I get absolutely horrible 3g speeds in my area on sprint, so I normally switch to the 00001 prl when I need to use data. I was just getting really tired of having to restart the phone to flash this, and restart to flash back to the sprint prl. I saw the 11115 prl can be used with the Roam Control app, so that you are always on sprint, unless you force roam with that app. Sounded great, as I wouldnt need a restart to switch to verizon data.
The problem is, the Roam Control app doesnt seem to make my phone roam. I can absolutely tell because at home, I normally get 0-1 bars of signal on sprint, but when on the verizon prl I get full bars, as there is a verizon tower less than a block from me. But when I use Roam Control to supposedly force roam, my signal still shows 1 bar, meaning I am not on the verizon network.
Anyone have any suggestions? Running InfectedROM 3.0 btw.
11115 prl is a cooperate prl... Business prl that allows 3g roaming on sprint towers. Meaning your still connected to sprint not VZW towers
Roaming, by definition, means you are not on your carrier's towers.
I have a similar issue getting it to hand off. I have selected the option within roam control to restart the phone after switching settings and the problem went away.

According to every post I've read about it, 11115 allows you to roam on verizon with 3g data, unlike the regular sprint prl's which force your phone to 1x while roaming. Thus, when using roam control, you should be able to force roam on a verizon tower.

Well again, every single thread I've read says that the 11115 is the better prl to use because you can stay on sprint, then force roam to get on verizon with 3g speeds, rather than having to flash the 00001 prl every time. So I guess these 6 or so threads are all wrong then?

Sigh.
It doesnt 'allow 3g roaming on sprint towers'. That statement makes no sense.
11115 on your SPRINT phone will allow some 3G roaming onto VERIZON's towers.
I strictly use 11115 all of the time.........unless I travel to an area where I'm off of Sprint's network, then I switch to 00001 for coverage since Verizon is just about everywhere.
BTW, at home today, my 3G signal strength is full bars........for the past year it's been really low and I had been connecting to my home network via wifi for data usage. Not today, it's really great so they must have made some tower upgrades.

So does Roam Control work for you then with this prl? Again, I used Roam Control to force roam, but I can tell I'm still on Sprint's tower since I have 1 bar intead of the 6 I usually have when usingn the 00001 prl
my rom has the Roam Only option, I selected it and have the small triangle and 5 bars.....and 3G symbol, and can use the internet

Ok I'm running Infected Rom 3.0, I just saw that this rom has that option too. However, when I select roam only, it works for a few minutes, and I have full bars which means I'm on verizon. But after a few minutes, the signal goes away, and I get an X for no signal, and it will not come back on until I reboot.

Pirated versions of the app don't work...the app may appear to be functioning (aside from the not roaming), but the internals are essentially disabled.
If you are using a legit copy, then that's a whole different story.

I understand people want to try out apps before buying them, but you can get a refund if you change your mind. I mention a 24 hour refund policy, but you can go longer than that, just shoot me an email if you have any questions.

Hi folks,
In light of Motorola's betrayal with the Tegra2 ICS updates and the fact that Sprint has screwed me MANY times over the years, I would like to switch to a prepaid carrier, preferably T-Mobile.
I have a Photon with the OTA 2.3.5 update and a locked bootloader. Can I flash PRLs/radios or no? I did flash Peetr's stock/CM7 hybrid ROM and it performs much better than the OTA stock 2.3.5 ROM. Thank god; the phone was just about unusable with the stock ROM. I have almost all the same apps installed from backup on peetr's and it's fine.
I am pretty sure that T-Mobile has done a fair amount of their conversion to 1900MHz HSPA+ in my area. Does the phone work well with T-Mo 3G in a 1900MHz enabled area? Is there a better provider? I live in Portland Oregon and I hate Verizon.
Thanks for any help. I did try searching but couldn't find direct answers.
There may be a way but you must read peetr's thread on sbf and signature versions as there are ways some things might be flashable. PRL's pertain more to Sprint and CDMA aspect of phones rather than GSM.
The thread I speak of contains info on ways to flash those files via bootstrap.

Afaik there's been two instances of 2.3.5 photons both ota and shipped to have GSM enabled. They haven't been verified though.

I'm not sure about the Tmo speed question. If they converted, I imagine they're on par or slower than At&t speeds.

A GSM MVNO (Virtual network operator) uses ATTs or T-Mos network, but charges you less for more minutes/data (They say unlimited data, but really presume 2GB/mo)
http://www.mysimplemobile.com/Simple-Mobile-Coverage.aspx
http://www.straighttalksim.com/ (You can choose att or tmo sim after you put in your zip) Try this discount thing to save ten bucks http://slickdeals.net/f/5263806-Straight-Talk-SIM-Cards-4-99-w-FS
GSM is great, it doesn't feel like a cludge, it really is like the phone is more at home and faster on HSPA+ than on that terrible sprint 3G or their failed wimax.
I get horrible speeds and shoddy connection with the "stock" PRL.
I started using a corporate PRL and it seems better. It doesn't say that I'm roaming or anything but is it a violation of my contract to use a corporate PRL ?
That is, will Sprint boot me for using a corporate PRL instead of an individual PRL?
I'm using PRL 16015, but want to make sure I'm not risking getting terminated.

PRL only affects roaming. If you're not roaming, the reboot is probably what "fixed" your speeds.
That being said, 16xxx prls, are corp and allow roaming on Verizon but block any international use. If you'll be travelling you won't want this PRL.
Anyone happen to see their 4g go away from their phone?
On 18.1 - just redownloaded it with all the default settings, only get 3g - looked at verizon's maps and i have 4g in my area, south east metro of the twin cities.
i had 4g lte before, but its not coming back..
thinking about downgrading to stock.

You might have a bad setting or radio. Download the app advanced signal status from play store & make sure you have proper bands selected. Which should be LTE,GSM,CDMA (auto PRL) under device settingss.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
Go to Settings/Mobile Network. Make sure you are on "LTE/CDMA/evdo". Download LTE Discovery from the Play Store. Go to the left page in the app and hit restart cell radio. If there's an LTE signal around you, that app will catch it.
If you're still not getting signal and you're sure you're in an LTE area, we can start exploring modems, EFS, etc.

Will give this a try next and report back, thank you guys.
Tried both of them, the advanced signal one lets me select LTE and 4g does come on then, but then when i select auto, it goes back to 3g.
the lte discovery was able to reset it, but doesn't really do anything, still says 3g or hspre.
gonna try to download hyperdrive again and see what that does.
i tried all the nc5 modems from surges thread, here as well, no luck
any more sugguestions?

Free if you call 611 and tell them you need a new sim, if you go to Verizon store I think there around 10 bucks with tax

Try a friends verizon sim first to see if that's your problem
Chatted with a Verizon tech and they tried their troubleshooting steps, looking for the apn, refreshing the sim on their end, it didn't work when i was chatting with them, so they are sending me a new sim, but maybe an hour later it refreshed and there was 4g again.
This might help some people that are having this problem.
I keep losing 4g, gonna try stock for a few days and see what it does.
