Hi, I have htc surrround. it is a half brick phone. I tried to make a gold card, and
I did, the usb cable worked fine, but..... When I held the volume down and camera buttons together, SPL screen (with red, green, blue and white screen) came out, but not usb host... what is the problem?
does it mean that, the only way is the JTAG?
I too would be changing the way through to HSPL to see if you put another type of ROM and now it does not recognize the USB (and bad that when you install the operating system did it in a memory of 2 GB and now it is how to make so that it can install on other higher-capacity memory = (

I attempted to follow the procedure in:
the broadbandgenie blog, entry title: 20100822-how-debrand-htc-desire-update-froyo
and after running the updater (RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe) the device went off and will not startup.
- All I get is a operating beep, black screen and illuminated buttons and upper led.
I started out with a brand new O2 branded phone.
If I try to turn it on and plug in to PC, device makes a bird tweet sound and PC identifies it a an empty removable disk drive (with no inserted disc).
If I try to turn it on while pressing the volume down button, PC
My PC identifies the phone as an "Andriod 1.0" and no drive is added, device does not make any sound this way and nothing lights up.
Anything I can do to restore my phone?
Thanks,
Danny.

hello... i am a complete noobie... i was trying to run flash29 on my hd2 n was successful until it tried to reboot... now it just simply wont boot up... i was reading some threads n saw what i may have done wrong n that i need to install a rom because i completely wiped mine off... can anyone tell me how i can do that? plzzzzzzzzzzzz
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
task 29 is for flashing a new rom. This is what you should do now!
remove battery
remove sd card
remove sim
replace battery
download a original hd2 rom for your Phone, using the serial number on the htc site. (only for non branded phones if you got a branded go to the vendor site)
hold volume down butten down and press simultanious the power button.
keep holding the volume button down
wait for the green, red and blue bar schreen what say at the bottom serial. plug in the usb cable in the computer and in the HD2
USB should stand now where serial used to stand.
Wait a bit for the drivers to install.
Now open the downloaded rom and install it.
Presto you got an original phone with no Hspl anymore, and it will boot now again!
so if you want to get new roms on the phone please read the Noob topic good and use FlashaholicRUU.exe for flashing new roms in the future (build in task 29 then flash the new rom in one program )
Hi,
So I really did it this time. I forgot to delete the radio I flashed yesterday from the phone's root folder and upon restoring to what appears to be a non-working version of DASBAMF I'm stuck with:
BAMF that loads but only to my background image. The touch screen doesn't respond, the soft keys don't do anything. Volume buttons wake the screen and so does the power button. But, when I hold the power button down, the reboot options don't come up. The status bar updates, I can see emails coming in. When I plug in the device to USB it goes into charge only mode.
OR
Hboot that finds the radio immediately. Flash or don't flash the radio and all I can do is reboot.
I'm on Windows 7 64bit and I've tried to install and setup ADB per these directions: http://www.thunderboltforums.com/forum/htc-thunderbolt-development/315-android-sdk-adb-driver.html
as well as the HTC sync software. I can't get ADB to recognize the device nor HTC sync.
Does anyone have any idea what I can do to either remove the radio or somehow get into recovery?
Turn off the phone, remove the micro sd card, put it in your pc card and remove the radio. When you put the micro sd card back in the phone hboot will look for the file and not find it, you can then choose recovery.

If your PC has a multimedia card reader, you should get a SDcard adapter, and insert the micro SDcard from your Thunderbolt into it. Then you can delete the PG051.img via Windows Explorer.
After a few such experiences, I wouldn't root my phone unless I had a PC with a mmc reader and an adapter. It's a lifesaver.
Same thing happened to me a while back, except I didn't have a PC available, but luckily was able to put the card in my gf's phone and delete it that way
Thanks for the help guy. I didn't realize the radio was on the SD card (duh) and I could just take the card out, boot into hboot -> recovery, and then factory wipe.
If the ROM was truly in a bootloop, I would have had to use a PC to remove the p05img.zip. Thanks for the help.
All,
I inherited a seriously injured HTC surround, and I have decided to use it as a project phone.
Current status - Half Bricked on the bootloader + when it boots it immediately asks to be connected to restore backup. Unfortunately I have no zune backup and neither does the original owner of the device.
So I have read everything I could find on the half-brick issue and it seems that some folks are having success using the goldcard method to over write their boot loader with various HTC devices. I am will to try this but all the vids I have seen tutorials etc show that you have to put the device into enter usb host mode (blue writing on white screen)
Only problem is ....I have no idea how to do this on the Surround. I have tried every button combo on boot and cannot find it.
Someone here must know how to do this in return I will post my findings on whether or not the Goldcard trick works to repair a 1/2 brick surround.
Thanks

Hi,
Power off the device
Press and HOLD both camera and volume down buttons
Press power on button and KEEP holding both battery and volume down buttons
After boot screen will follow the usb screen
Now release battery and volume down buttons
Regards, ansar
Ok I can only get to the tricolor screen showing the 1/2 brick spl. is the the usb host mode? Because I see on some videos on youtube a white screen with blue writing that says enter usb host mode. This is what I am trying to achieve.
Or if this is the USB host mode should I just attempt to do the flash via gold card and see if I can get rid of teh 1/2 brick?
USB Host mode
To enter USB host mode turn off the phone, then press and hold VOL down + camera buttons, then press power.
But the phone will not enter USB host mode if you only see one line en the tricolor screen (this state is half bricked). For the phone to be able to enter USB host mode, the tricolor screen must have more than 1 line but the only missing part must be Serial/USB at the bottom. Check well the videos on youtube, and you will notice before entering USB host mode that the tricolor screen have more than 1 line (someone call this state small half bricked).
My phone is also half bricked (one line in the tricolor screen), the only solution I have found is to do an HTC OEM update, either by waiting for HTC to release an update (that includes a bootloader) through zune or by forcing it (for this the phone needs to be developer unlocked).
P.S. ChevronWP7 is not selling more unlocking tokens at the moment, and the $99 AppHub membership is too expensive for me.
Thanks Guys
After reading your posts I tried it out on my good surround and sure enough was dumped directly into Enter USB Host Mode screen
So now I am sitting here wondering what can I do with this thing it will not boot to anything but the screen to connect to restore backup.
Could I give anyone here anything useful about the device? Maybe disect it and post pics? Maybe someone could find these jtag posts? Or keep it for spare parts? Seems like a waste to just chuck it
Maybe you can repair it

rob243, you can try to install a new firmware, depending if the firmware is a version inferior to 2250.21.40500.502. You can use a tool called Cab Sender (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415) to send firmware version mondrian_2250.21.40500.502.cab (search in xda-developers), for the enter the phone to recovery mode (just press and hold CAMERA, then power, ang then release the 2 buttons).
Hello everyone!
I got a clone T95X box, on the info it says it's a Nexbox A95X 1GB/8GB. I installed TWRP then booted into it, started testing and erased all partitions (yeah dumb) on the advanced wipe screen.
I had made a backup of all the partitions to an external drive (I still have it) before I did this so I thought "ok no big deal" and went to grab a drink before I restored it. When I came back someone or one of the dogs had pulled or kicked the power cord and it was turned off!
Now when I power it on all I get is a red light, no image no nothing.
What I tried so far:
1- Magic SDcard method with cyx_NEXBOX-A95X_S905X_8189etv_8g1g_kodi_addons_161104_SD_USB firmware -> nothing
2- USB Burning Tool 2.0.8 -> device doesn't show up, no matter what I do or how I connect it to the USB male to male cable. Tried monitoring the device manager on windows 10 x64 but when I plug the cable on absolutely nothing happens.
3- http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...962#post306962 tried this method using the uboot.bin image from the cyx firmware above. Nothing happens.
I have no clue of which pins to short on the nand (it's a Eudar EMS1ASCBT1FC008 module) so if anyone knows the pins for this one, PLEASE share!
I've run out of things to try, can you guys help me out reviving this box?
Thanks a LOT for the help!!!
With the USB burning tool did you try to press "Start" before connecting your box on your PC?
Do you have a reset button inside the a/v port?
Yep, tried the "press start before then connect the box" method.
It does have the reset button, I tried doing the above both with reset pressed and not pressed, in both USB ports... still nothing...
Have you found a solution? Same situation
