Anyone know what the return policy for gamestop is? Tablet purchased on friday, opened today (Sunday). Experiencing horrible bugs and overall unhappy with the device ... at this point I would prefer a full refund. Much rather wait for the "nexus tablet" which will most likely beat this tablet in every way possible both hardware and software wise.
Exchange only.

As far as I know, if you open it you're not getting a refund.
Exchange only IMO is stupid. Its a faulty product in my eyes , and no exchange will fix it. How else would u know this without opening it
Throw it on craigslist, you will get atleast full money back and maybe even a profit.

Put it on eBay or CL. What you're considering faulty others seem fine with.
I wonder if i can melt the plastic wrap back on... technically it was already opened when they installed stuff on it in store ...

I just got home with my ATP/dock and turned it on to make some video's to upload to youtube and post here. I installed the update.
With over half a battery charge left it restarted out of nowhere. I said uhhhh ok. Then I started to play Riptide GP and it stutters every now and then for about 2 to 3 seconds....WTF. I'm currently on hold with the manager who is pissed off at me, trying to see what he can do about a refund. I've only had this thing for about an hour.
Is anyone else experiencing stuttering in Riptide GP and random restarts?

If you can get a refund let me know, so i have some leverage to return this POS
Wifi problems, light leaking, freezes ... etc
It took me less than five seconds to find the Gamestop return policy on their web site, so why are you asking this question? Do you want someone to make it all better?
Bye.

What problems are you having? I haven't got my prime in yet, but I had an original transformer and a xoom so pretty comfortable with honeycomb, I might be able to help you out.

You definitely have a dud. No random restarts, and riptide/shadowgun run great on mine. I would expect a new unit from them. Amazon didn't hesitate to set me up with a replacement order for my screen problems.

Thanks I'm leaving now to try and return it. I opened the other 2 units that had their own defects so there's no other units available for exchange.
http://google.com/search?q=gamestop+return+policy
Yes, Gamestop doesn't have a refund policy per se. That said, its policy is geared to the items it sells, which are mostly software. Hardware is an exception. If you have a defective product and you return it within a few days, you have the right to an IMMEDIATE exchange. If they don't have stock on hand. You have the right to demand a refund.
There are two ways to do this. You can go back on their busiest returns day of the year (either tomorrow the 26th or the 2nd), and make a scene. Refuse to budge until you are satisfied.
If you aren't the confrontational type, which is totally understandable, then whip out your phone and get the whole interaction on video. Get the manager's name and his statement recorded. Make sure it's date stamped. Post it on Vimeo or Youtube. This will be your indelible proof of "a reasonable attempt to return a defective product," if it goes to arbitration. Next, contact your credit card company and dispute the charge. Then, go buy at some place else.
I do not recommend palming your problem child off on some other unwitting buyer. You already have your Xmas messed up. You don't want to ruin Xmas for somebody else. Bad karma and all that.

Thanks I'm going to give it a go. It's time to put on my game face
i'm exchanging mine after having lag with the keyboard, light bleed (on the boot screen, but not seen during normal use), and weird issues with the screen flickering and doing this shifting thing up and down. Yesterday, all of a sudden when I would press the shift key on the keyboard, I would hear a hissing noise out of the speaker. Happened three times. Since the store I purchased it from is almost 2 hours away, I am waiting for a call back from the manager to see if they can order me a replacement and have it shipped to the non-tablet Game top where I live.

So I had been enjoying my GameStop preordered prime all day yesterday and half of today. This afternoon I go to turn it on and nothing. No display whatsoever.
It appears to be a display issue as I can plug in the USB cable to my computer and it will mount the storage. I tried using the reset button on the side and nothing. Held down the power button for about 10 seconds and the unit buzzes, the storage is temporarily dismounted, and then it remounts, but no screen.
Not only am I bummed, my wife who bought it for me as a birthday/Christmas present feels bad because she knows how much I was looking forward to it.
Anyone else having any troubles with their units? Anyone have any suggestions? I haven't tried a hard reset yet, but I'm very doubtful it will work.

Wow. That sucks. Sorry to hear that. I had an oh **** moment earlier today, I hooked my prime up to my desktop for the first time to move a movie, and the USB plug sparked going into my motherboard and my comp rebooted. And the other end was attached to my prime. This happened to coincide with moving a file over wifi to NAND which brings the prime to a halt. So I thought I had toasted the thing.

Follow Up-Called Asus Tech Support
So I called Asus tech support and as disappointed as I am, the support call was at decent experience. I was told it would take 10-14 business days for the techs to take a look at it. Of course, I have to foot the bill to get it there, but that is fairly common nowadays. The phone operator was decent enough to expedite my RMA though as he could hear the disappointment in my voice. With an expedite, he said that as soon as it is received in shipping, it will be looked at immediately.
Also, not that this is a surprise to anyone at this point, and as I write this, I guess I'm sort of glad this happened. I was definitely noticing wi-fi issues. As I mentioned in my first post, I had a GameStop pre-order and therefore I likely had one of the units with the wi-fi problem. I thankfully remembered to mention the wi-fi issues in the RMA call, so they will be looking at that as well.
I also mentioned to the operator that since I had ordered this through GameStop, there were some preloaded games that GameStop had put on the unit. He said that he would make a note telling the techs to call if they needed to wipe the system for any reason, otherwise they would send it back with everything intact.
Has anyone found out how we can backup or restore the GameStop bundle if we do need to do a wipe? How about updates for those preinstalled games? I didn't get a chance to see if they were being recognized by the Android Market.
Don't know if this might help but check to see if your volume button is stuck in the up position. The buzzing you get and remount sounds like the prime is going into APX mode. I was able to get into APX mode with my prime by holding the VOL up and restart the prime. I get the same thing as you but I'm able to just hold the power button and it reboots normally

I've heard in other threads they make you pay the shipping that's whack its their product that's not working after 2 days......on a side note did you try contacting Gamestop since they sold it they may be able to do something for you

Guys, educate me here.
Isn't easier to get a replacement from Best Buy, Amazon, etc?
Why calling Asus after just few days buying it?
If it happens to me I will be heading to the store where I bought it for an exchange or refund.
I could not sleep knowing I paid for a brand new unit that has to be opened and repaired. Just sayin...
Mines shut down for no reason as well. It was unresponsive for a while and I finally got it started after pressing power and the volume up button. Then a few hours later it shut down again, for no reason. Erg is going on

I would not accept anything less than a replacement. Amazon is replacing mine for some pixel/backlight problems.

RE: Sad Day.
Believe you me, I'm just about to head to bed and I'm waking up tomorrow morning without the ability to take video of my kids opening presents as I had planned with the Prime. Granted I have other means of doing so, but I was excited to do so on the tablet and I've been chomping at the bit for this unit since I first heard about it.
I'm VERY disappointed that I'm out the tablet after only 1 1/2 days. I'm soooo bummed! The reason I called Asus tech and started the RMA process was due to the fact that I figured I didn't have much of a choice. It's either have this unit fixed and wait 10-14 Business days, or get GameStop to order a replacement and wait 4-7 weeks. I did ask if I would still have the 1 year warranty and the operator said I would. (I asked because I know some companies say tough luck after the first repair. I would have been climbing the walls if Asus said tough luck!) I admit, I'm a bit of a "satisfaction now" kind of person-I simply figured that 10-14 Business days was my fastest option to having the tablet back in hand.
Unknown_owner, thanks for the tip. I'll check the volume button.
Skeptikal, Did GameStop give you any kind of ETA? Or were you simply willing to wait no matter how long it takes?
BiGMERF, I see it is working again as you sent your message from your Prime. Where did you get your tablet? Has it happened again?
Thanks all! At least there is some "therapy" in talking about the experience with XDA members
You just bought the thing. Now it doesn't work after a day. Don't mess around with RMA. Go to GameStop, return the unit, and either they can provide you an exchange right then, or get a complete refund. If they hassle you, file a dispute with your credit card provider. Then go buy from some place else.
Better yet, let your wife do the returns. Women are just naturally better at getting their way. Bonus points if she's the in-your-face type. Be sure to get the manager of the store to join the party.
Remember: It's your Xmas present. You're not going to let anybody ruin your Xmas. Attitude counts. And lots of spittle.
Sorry to hear. Have a good Xmas! My prime has no issues yet so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

That really bites I'd be so pissed! I would demand a new one not just a fix. Mine takes a while to boot with some screen flickers in the process. I better not have the same issue coming on. What a way to ruin your mas. I'm so sorry. But being only two days I'd get a new one not a fix. After a month yeah a fix would be warranted but not two days.
Dead Prime
Yup, mine's dead as well. I got it today, used it for a couple of hours and went out, leaving it to charge. Got home, restarted at 100% battery and now it's dead. Thanks ASUS, real glad I took and chance on your tablet! Very impressed...
The best way to see if your Prime is dead (speaking to everyone with this problem) is holding just the power button down for at least 20 seconds. And also, plug it in. If you have an orange or a green light, that is a good thing.
Now that Asus has officially declared that there is a problem with gps I've decided to return my open TF201 to the GameStop that I bought it from. I've read some posts where folks said thay returned their prime for a full refund with no problem and other posts where a refund was refused. I am currently within the 30 day return period but the unit has been opened.
Does anyone have any advice on how to approach the local GameStop manager. My approach is to be honest, friendly and persistent. What response should I expect?
Don't return it over a GPS how many other devices do you have that have GPS cell phone check! Tom Tom check! Ect... Lol don't do it!

Returned mine for a full refund...cash no less. I didn't speak with the manager I just went to the desk and told them since they didn't have any in stock for an exchange I wanted a refund. No questions asked and they didn't even open the box. After I got the cash I went back to my car to get them the charger and cable lol
if they give you any hassle, tell them to exchange it, and they will have to offer you a refund since there are none in stock.
but since GPS is listed on the box, and it doesn't work they would be hard pressed to try to refute your claims for it not living up to the specs.

Hate returning stuff
Well guys, I'm one of those people who hates to return stuff. But damn it, I don't think it's right for asus to be removing the GPS description and acting like it's nothing. I know some of you are saying you've successfully returned it. Anyone out there who wasn't successful? Cause I'm thinking of taking it back. GPS is not important to some people, it is to me and I want my 500 dollar tablet to work. I wouldn't even care if asus would fix this problem.

It's actually listed on Gamestop's own website as having GPS...
Yeah - I don't see why you should have any problem returning it - the GPS is included, and it's defective - plus, as already stated in this thread, they won't have stock to issue you an exchange...
asus hasn't said they are giving up on GPS, they are saying that GPS performance will never be excellent due to the design of the prime, because of that they are going to stop marketing the feature so that people won't try to buy it as a standalone GPS unit, but they will continue to make it work as best as it can.
we'll see what that ends up meaning over the next weeks/months, while mine gets a real finnicky lock on sats, it works well enough for what i generally need it for, which is opening google maps and seeing how to get somewhere or where some place is, which means i am connected to wifi, which means the a-gps works well enough to position me to accomplish that.
but i digress. i am also curious if anyone has been refused a refund by gamestop, because there is no way i would find that acceptable as a customer. no refund on opened video games makes sense, but if they try to push it on hardware, that's just bull****.
I'm waiting for ICS to come out and see if it fixes issues I'm having. If not then return it, repurchase SGT10 1 at Costco. I will then have 90 days to consider buying another prime or whatever next best thing to come out within the 90 day return policy.
Issues:
Screen brightness often times fluctuates under power saving mode, brightness lowest lvl.
Random shutdowns and takes several tries to get it to turn on.
Web browsing: Web pages sometimes flickers.

When you say "now I have to find another one", are you planning on getting another TF201?
Yes I am getting another TF201. I just ordered one from BB a few minutes ago. Lets hope that I don't get another dud! I really like the tablet, but mine had a few issues, no gps what so ever, minor screen bleed and no serial number. So I figure I give it another shot, if not then I will sell my TP and dock on CL/eBay. To let you know when I talked to my GS I acted like I wanted another one, which I do, and said that if you can't guarentee that I will have one on your next shipment that I would like a refund. I don't like having a defective item just sitting here and not being able to do nothing because you don't have any in stock. He said he had to get clearance from his district manager to do so. I let him do his thing and called back today and was told I could return it for a refund. That basically what I told him in a nutshell.
Has anyone returned a prime they bought from game stop. will they trade it out on the spot for one that is having this Slow wifi issue ( even though its a know issue ) i mean i cant get above 100kb/sec even though i have full bars 2 feet from my router.
just curious because it takes forever to download on this thing.
other than that this a wonderful device.
I discussed with them regarding my device's return and the response was strange.
They say that once the product has been opened, they cant return it. For this device, they cant even trade it. She started suggesting ebay/amazon etc to me for selling my device.
I guess Gamestop is not the ideal place for picking up non game devices...

I was able to exchange 2 of them at a gamestop and the manager told me the same thing that once a tablet is opened they can't exchange or refund it but he said that he was making an exception for me.
I bought one from them when they first released it but from a non tablet store which the manager ok'd a refund since it had very bad light bleed and they didnt have one to replace it with. It might be different now though so what everyone says might be true.

Amazingly enough the Prime I bought from Walmart online the other day is working like it is supposed to be working. I've actually used my Bluetooth connection listening to music streaming down from Google Music and performed a speed test and still was about 20+Mbps speed using speed test. ALL the other units I had wouldn't even get 5Mbps. This is like the 3rd or 4th Prime I had. I can't even remember. And for those GPS people out there I was able to get GPS signal on a %100 humidity day in about 10 seconds. I have no idea what was done, but I'm not letting this one go. I've already sent all my Asus contacts a message asking if they can keep my RMA unit and just refund me the retail price of what I paid for it and to let me keep what I have.
Also the buttons seem easier to press. Like the power button. It has a more tactile feel then all the other ones I had. Along with the volume rocker.
My serial number starts with C20KAS......
FINALLY I'm done with all this BS, only until I get a refund from Asus hopefully. If they don't actually give me a refund I'll have to see what I'll do. I certainly don't want to be the owner of two Prime tablets, equaling over $1000 in price. Ouch!
I think you just got a good one.
I've had my prime since launch, got it from Best Buy, and i've never had one issue with it. GPS, WiFi, BT, and everything else works flawlessly. I do maybe have a "weaker" signal according to the bars on the screen, but I've never dropped a connection or had ANY speed issues.
Love my prime.
Cool story bro
This sounds like you think the tablet would be subpar because it was at a Walmart...

Good to hear! Asus must be getting its groove on. They must be working out the problems. The prime is one sweet tablet. I have my modded one still working. (for mobile applications... using in one of my vehicles.) But, I want a prime for couch / bedside surf! Walmart is cool about returns too. So If i order online I can easily exchange it a few time.... until i get what i want.
Mod Edit: removed illagal activity post.
Not condoning what you said about stickers swap but it would go back to Asus anyways. It's not going to be put back out for sale when you tell them it don't work right. Walmart would just send it back to Asus, its policy. I tried to get an HP Touchpad someone was taking back a while back during the fire sale they wouldn't let me get it said policy says they have to send back to manufacture once opened.

Absolutely. Just do the right thing and be honest. He still has to look at himself in the mirror. And if committing this type of act doesn't bother the person, he has a bigger problem than we can help him with here.
Thanks again for speaking up and condoning honesty.

I'm all for being honest and legit, but if a lot of us are being bent over and screwed by a corporate monster we can never win with what are we supposed to do? Just sit back and let them do whatever they want? We need to stand up for ourselves.
If we aren't getting the appropriate satisfaction or expected support I really would love to know what to do that would give us our satisfaction within our return time policy time? After that return period is over, we are pretty much stuck with what we have.
I already asked Asus very kindly and eagerly if they would keep my RMA unit and just refund me my money because I purchased another prime that is working better turned me down instantly with no regard to my problem. I was backed into a corner like a caged animal with very LIMITED options. Since money doesn't grow on trees for me I'm at a loss on what to do or where to go. Asus doesn't respond to my emails anymore and these "updates" can't fix dead pixels either. I hope people understand where I'm coming from.
Wow! That's messed up. Have you tried explaining your situation to Gary?
Hey!
I think my Prime is faulty. I can't load a large webpage without the browser crashing. I tested it with multiple browsers. When I leave an app and open another, you can vaguely see the previous app. The left side of the screen sometimes glitches, and I have a dead pixel. Wifi isn't great, but that's common, right? I also have random reboots. But here's the problem: I bought it in NYC, and I live in the Netherlands. Is there a way for me to send it back, preferably somewhere not too far away?
Thanks!

The issues are normal. Pretty much everyone has them.
Be patient for ASUS (6 - 12 months by the looks of it) or sell the tablet.
benchmarks show that the 300 / 700 and several reports of other teg3 devices also say similar problems, bad IO. Nothing you can do.

I would say sell it while you can, guys over at ASUS seem awfully quiet about actual progress of fixing this mess, and that's usually bad news.

I have an Asus prime and while the wifi range isn't quite as good as my laptop, it's still very livable and I don't have the browser crashing or screen glitching you described.
It sounds like there's a problem with yours. Contrary to what's been posted, we don't all have problems like this, the I/O should not be causing issues like that.
How long has it been since you bought your prime? Like a week or two, or several months?
Add me to the list of people who say sell it. Buy a Samsung or even apple. The original iPad is better than this.

Yeah stop wasting your time trying to get this thing working and start enjoying a Tablet.
Get something else, personally I would go for an iPad 2/3 if customization or expansion does not worry you. After comparing various tablets, iPad owns them all in terms of smoothness and performance experience.
If you need an SD card reader or keyboards then are attachments to iPad. It may not be as integrated but hey
I hope you don't think that I am an Apple fanboy or that I am trolling or starting a flame war. I am not, this is my personal comment after having tried a lot of them.
If I was buying a phone I would go Android all they way. But with tablets it's still not mature enough.
Mine is scheduled to go up on eBay tomorrow night. I am done with it. Most disappointing tech device that I have ever owned. I am choosing my Xoom Wifi and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 over the prime

The TF101 has an international warranty and can be returned to be replaced in other countries by sending it direct to an asus service centre. I returned mine this way. It is better than nothing but they should repair it. Guessing it is the same for the prime which is eventually what they replaced mine with after the second RMA and lots of letters and correspondence. Generally their customer service is lacking. G ood luck
Unlock, root, and flash wookie 2.1. Changed my life.

have you contacted Asus support and discussed it with them?
I know that they are unlikely to suggest buying an Ipad (as some on here feel they need to suggest) but you might find that they would arrange to send it to the Europe repair centre for repair as this does not sound like a typical TFP fault.
Return it via RMA and ask for a refund and purchase, I hate to say it a iPAD 3 and all of your issues will go away like mine did and I have no regrets.
