Does anyone know how to get the evo 4g epst going on a 3.5 Rom (mikmik's)? Tried the root explorer and fixed the permissions, when I reboot, it says epst force closurer. Any advice? Thanks so much.
4G Doesn't Work on 3.5
As far as I know no one has got 4G working on any 3.5 roms. Most people don't care though since Wimax isn't in most areas anyways
Lol no not 4g, the epst app from the evo 4g

I have a feeling this would not work, but i figured i would ask.
is it possible to take the PRL file from the EVO 4G and use it in the EVO 4G LTE?
the reason i ask is how people are having connectivity issues and other related data problems.
perhaps it is the phone, and it is the PRL listing causing the issue?
Not sure about PRL compatibility but it would only useful if you were roaming and you really had to rely upon an updated list of Verizon 3G towers to keep connected. Otherwise, for Sprint data connections, PRLs are really a moot point.
Hi I have an evo 3d on boost mobile but it only gets 3g is it possible to get 4g service on it? help will be greatly appreciated
Ummmm, well obviously you will only get 4g if your area has 4g Wimax. If it doesn't, there's no way to make 4g magically appear...
more importantly right now boost is not provisioning other 4g phones besides their crappy design 4g. so short answer no long answer no but if they would just let users use clean esn sprint phones on their network then you could. because you cant copy the wimax crap from a evo design or 3d because someone hasent figured out the rsa codes.
I have an Evo 3D CDMA
S-off Hboot 1.40
ICS OTA Firmware bits.
I tried ICS OTA Radio, then 2.17 Radios.
Tried the ##3282# and edit the WiMAX from -82 to -110
Can anybody help me? It says Scanning..
Connecting to sprint...
Scanning..
And keeps looping.

I would imagine it's the network in your area. I've had situations where 4g wouldn't work at my house for weeks at a time, but worked fine in other areas of my city. Then it would just start working again and be back to normal. Have you tried on sense roms as well as cm9?

Knowing Sprint, I would say it's the network as well. Give them a quick call to make sure it's not the network. Also, make sure you still have your wimax keys, there's a wimax key checker app in the market.
Hi all!
I'm new to the EVO 4G LTE family and I rooted my phone a few days back. I'm one of the lucky people and have 4g LTE in my area (near Chicago) and was wondering if the current ROMs have LTE working. I only ask this because I still have my 1st gen EVO and when I flashed to a sense 3.5 ROM, I was aware that there was no WiMax. But when I flashed it back to the MikG ROM, I could never connect to wimax even though roughly 90% of Chicago has WiMax. I only ask if anyone can please confirm LTE is working with most ROMs. Thanks.
All roms based on sense have LTE and most of the jb roms have LTE support as well. WiMAX was different because there was no official android support for WiMAX at the time. It wasn't widely adopted

Yes, all custom ROMs I know of having working LTE. The reason you didn't have LTE on the 3.5 ROM is because the 3.5 ROM was ported from a devices that didn't have WiMAX, so even though your Evo had the hardware for it, the software wasn't there. All ROMs for the Evo 4G LTE (that I know of) aren't ports, so they should have LTE to begin with.

All Sense-based roms should have working LTE. It is a toss-up for AOSP roms though CM10 is getting very close with some people having it work correctly
I heard it is possible to clone the MAC address on Epic touch so you can use the cellphone with Freedompop wimax. Has anybody tried that on Evo V or Evo 3D? Is it at all possible?
TIA

Any luck with this? Seems to be within the exception to DMCA. Hacking device to allow compatibility with another network.
Provided the Evo3d, V completed the contract or paid the ETF.
Just have to spoof the wimax mac address right? I wonder if it's an allocated range you have to get within or if you need a donor device (perhaps a shattered screen evo design?)???
It pisses me off and is clearly anticompetitive monopolistic anti-american isht that Clear won't activate an out of contract evo 4g or evo 3d. When these were through sprint, they used the CLEAR towers. The Wimax is 100% compatible. Clear doesn't want to compete and now that Sprint owns a controlling interest in them, there's no need to compete. Same with Freedompop - their wimax portion would work just fine with evo 3d and 4g... they are mvno'ing sprint/clearwire wimax. Such bull****. Class action qui tam? Unfair competition, Sherman antitrust, lanham act violations??? Sick and tired of these carrier cartels.

I just need to figure out how to make the wimax mac stick and I think I have found a way
Update: I have not found a way to make the mac stick. All you have to do is dial ##3283# then press edit thne put in your MSL then press wimax then press "Realm" then change it to 'freedompop.com', then go back to NAI and change it to you freedompop device's wimax MAC followed by '@freedompop.com', then presss commit. If it sticks, you have WIMAX on your evo

Hell yeah!!!! Wonder if you could forward this to @Freedompop4G to help them??? they've officially announced sanctioned use of old sprint phones finally (whereas Clear is still being an enabling little *****). But, even where Freedompop claims to offer byod evo3d (evo 4G IS working byod), evo3d keeps showing unsupported on their freedompop.com/byod activate page. Driving me furious. They say "Dev team" is working on it but won't give a time frame. Really CANNOT wait until Chairman Wheeler @fcc starts kicking some ass and asking tough questions of sprint and the other cartels. So if they really are working on getting sprint phones (wimax) to work but they are just having a difficult time on the tech side, perhaps your solution will help them? IMHO
Menu/Commit the answer?

I am running brad560's Sprint Updated version 3 Final custom ROM on a sprint htc EVO with freedompop. I have been able to get the wimax settings to stick in the ##DATA# screen, by pressing the MENU button and choosing "COMMIT". The phone then reboots and the NAI changes stick!
I have not, however, gotten 4g WiMax to work, despite the progress above.
The custom ROM does, however, let me use the EVO as a hotspot on 3g service!
