I'm coming from the EVO 3D. One of the things that always bugged me about that phone was the lack of 4g with AOSP ROMs. Does anyone know if this phone will have the same issues? Or is that just an HTC issue.
Hi all. I was having a problem that I just couldn't find any fix to after scouring the internet. It seems to be fixed (so far), so I thought I'd share briefly so someone else can find it.
I was on the Stable release of CM10 Jewel (HBOOT 1.19, S-ON) on the Evo 4g LTE. I live in an area with early LTE rollout, and I was getting LTE on my stock Rom. If I selected Network Mode: LTE/ CDMA/ EvDo, I would get a cell signal and reception but no data of any kind. If I switched the network mode to CDMA/ EvDo Auto, I would get reliable 3g (or 2.5g). As far as I can tell, this is a common issue that has something to do with the LTE handoff.
I was reluctant to start using the nighties, since the stable release is so recent. However, updating to the most recent nightly (at this point 12-10-2012), through the simple CM10 updater in the "about phone" menu, seems to have fixed the problem. Just FYI.

I don't have LTE but everything works great for me on my CM10 build. I think its 12-4 that was posted on this forum.
I even turned S-OFF using DirtyRacun before hand, works like a charm (did it on my 64bit Win7 machine)
My problem now is when LTE connects, I get 4G icon and no data. When I get out of LTE coverage, data works again. So in LTE areas, I have to disable it. Kind of counter productive. I am downloading 12/10 nightly build and will test LTE later today.

Yep, thats why I am on ViperRom until LTE is handing off to 3G for everyone. It works for some, but not for others. I need to consistently have my LTE.
Problem is, it was screwing up on a Sense ROM as well. I flashed latest CM10 nightly, and managed to squeeze 12kbps transfer on LTE in Miami airport and that was it. But hey, at least for once I saw a 4G icon!

Hi,
Quick question considering evo 4g lte is similar to 1x. Can we load 1x rom with sprint radios?
No, you can never flash a rom made for a different phone. Even if they are similar there are too many little differences. A dev would need to port the rom to work on a different phone.

The OneX is a very easy port. though i really dont see the point unless its a badass rom you have to have for the LTE. The UI is pretty much the same.
Does anyone know how to flash a Htc evo 4g lte to Ting?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2060085
I saw the above post and hopefully it can be applied. Can anyone offer me some help? I am making the jump to ting, but I really don't want to have to purchase new phones when I have 2 perfectly good Evo 4g LTEs already.
Thanks

Bump
From my Evo LTE, yup.
I've been with ting since the beginning. Sprint will not yet allow them to BYOD an LTE device. As far as I know you can't flash lte devices either. Drove me mad trying to do it. No ting user has flashed an evo lte and I'm fairly active on the forum.
I know where your coming from. Ting is awesome and will be more so once they can BYOD lte phones.
I'm on a white ting evo lte now. You can buy mine if you want and I'll go back to my beloved s2.
I have gone back and forth a couple times now. I ran the RUU to go to 4.3 Android (Htc official side loaded RUU) and I live in the Los Angeles area. My signal is absolutely ridiculous. Updated radios, current version of HBOOT and other drivers, I hoped that I would pick up 4g LTE in my area because the sprint coverage map shows that my location has it available for the EvoLTE. Going back to my device I am having 2G Edge and the slowest 3G of my life!
Has this been happening to you guys as well?
I made sure to select LTE/CDMA for my antenna options but no change.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Personally, I'd call Sprint and complain. That being said, it's a kind of well known fact that the EVO LTE's don't always have the best reception. ie two people in the same location with Sprint service, one on the EVO LTE, the other with a different device. The other person gets 4g LTE and the EVO user doesn't.

I can tell you from experience that Sprint doesn't seem to care if your service is crappy. Your best bet is to go with a carrier with better coverage. I was with Sprint for 10+ years.
