Hi,
Quick question considering evo 4g lte is similar to 1x. Can we load 1x rom with sprint radios?
No, you can never flash a rom made for a different phone. Even if they are similar there are too many little differences. A dev would need to port the rom to work on a different phone.

The OneX is a very easy port. though i really dont see the point unless its a badass rom you have to have for the LTE. The UI is pretty much the same.

Does anyone have any info/input on this?
I don't know the answer to this but this is what I'm thinking...
If 1. Both the Vibrant 4G & 3G are physically the same, 2. Hardware is identical, 3. Parts can be interchanged.
If these things are hypothetically the same, would it be possible to buy the "4G" part, and install it in a 3G to turn it into a 4G?
...the question then is, What makes the 4G a "4G"?
Software wise, I'm sure we can take a 4G ROM from the dev's and flash it in, then software will be running.
If this is at all possible, we could mod our 3G Vibrants and make it a true 4G phone and not have to pay for a whole new one!
Thoughts?
Yeah im curious about that too!
I'm pretty sure they aren't the same. I believe the radio is different. It sounded like the leaked 4G rom wasn't totally compatible because of this and some other things.
Is the ability to use 4g LYE in the software or hardware of the phone? I have an LTE sim card that came with my htc vivid, but as I understand (which isn't much), I will have to wait for an update or custom ROM that includes an LTE radio. I've also read that LTE phones have different modules in which case I would never get to use it on my i777. This phone is great and there's no way I'm trading it in for a Skyrocket just for LTE when everything else it's so much better on the i777.
Can any one tell me then, will I ever get to use LTE?
Hardware, google is your friend sir

Just to add to the above answer
LTE and our Exynos chipset dont get along right now, hence all the LTE phones having snapdragon processors. Thats the main kicker for me. and LTE is in very few places is ****ing stupid that at&t is starting to focus even the smallest amount on LTE devices

Seriously?
Thanks, this is just the answer I was looking for, I do live in an LTE coverage area bad for me though

I live in an area that should have great coverage but I still only get an average of 6Mbps, would updating my APN settings from the old wap.cingular help improve my data service?

Hi all!
I'm new to the EVO 4G LTE family and I rooted my phone a few days back. I'm one of the lucky people and have 4g LTE in my area (near Chicago) and was wondering if the current ROMs have LTE working. I only ask this because I still have my 1st gen EVO and when I flashed to a sense 3.5 ROM, I was aware that there was no WiMax. But when I flashed it back to the MikG ROM, I could never connect to wimax even though roughly 90% of Chicago has WiMax. I only ask if anyone can please confirm LTE is working with most ROMs. Thanks.
All roms based on sense have LTE and most of the jb roms have LTE support as well. WiMAX was different because there was no official android support for WiMAX at the time. It wasn't widely adopted

Yes, all custom ROMs I know of having working LTE. The reason you didn't have LTE on the 3.5 ROM is because the 3.5 ROM was ported from a devices that didn't have WiMAX, so even though your Evo had the hardware for it, the software wasn't there. All ROMs for the Evo 4G LTE (that I know of) aren't ports, so they should have LTE to begin with.

All Sense-based roms should have working LTE. It is a toss-up for AOSP roms though CM10 is getting very close with some people having it work correctly
I'm considering making the move from Sprint to T-Mobile. I have the HTC One and I really like it, but the phone is not the greatest at maintaining an LTE signal, similar to how the Evo LTE was. I've read on here that the One on Verizon also has this issue. Since T-Mo is GSM, is the One on T-Mobile the same compared to other LTE phones on T-Mobile, or does it also not maintain an LTE signal as well as its counterparts?

To be honest I've never really had problems with my lte service but that's not until I updated to latest radio

Yea I saw that there was an update a couple of months ago that addressed LTE issues. Is that the latest radio update that you're referring to?
I have the phone for over a month. I'm in a strong LTE area. I've had zero issues.

That's great to hear. I was concerned that the phone had issues holding it and would instead fall back to HSPA+ when the signal became weak.
Definitely not as good at maintaining lte as nexus 4 or s4, or even iPhone 5. The update changed the way lte is read, meaning, you will have more bars. But, as far as helping actual reception, it does not. You'll drop lte in all same areas.

That might be market specific.
My TMO ONE is so much better with LTE after the .11 update.
It is as good if not better then my Note 2 and Nexus 4. I rotate between them but lately been finding my self liking the One a lot better..
Well the only thing I have to compare it to is my wife's S4. So far they seem about the same. And I guess if anything I can jump to something else in 6 months. What I don't like is when the signal is weak-ish, it drops the data connection. Just like my One on Sprint did. What's bothersome is that other phones don't seem to do this... Just the One.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Yes, the data signal is not as good as the S4 at all. It's definitely noticeable however the voice recognition works infinitely better than the S4 so the tradeoff is fine for me.
My coverage and signal are vastly better with latest radio I flashed...I went through 5 or 6 different radios until I found this one. Of course different radios may perform better for you, but the best for me is:
4A.17.3250.20_10.40.1150.04l

Do you guys think we can get GSM support for lollipop CM12 based roms? It seems everything is CDMA only and I really don't want to sign up for Sprint and get 1mbps blazing fast "LTE"
Well, there is some sort of build prompt mod for cm12. But if you are will to stay on the "stock" rom you can look on the "general" thread for this device and you will find mine and many more.

Then why did you buy a Sprint device? Sounds kinda like buying a Dell PC and then complaining because it won't run Mac software. Yes, I know the Sprint phone is a little bit cheaper, but if it won't do what you want it to do it's hardly a bargain.
FWIW, I routinely get 15 - 18 Mbps down on Sprint's LTE.
