I tired installing Jetpack ROM on my phone, but my idiot self forgot to wipe factory data and clear the cache, Now when it turns on it goes to the vibrant screen but then a voice says "convert data partition..not enough space on partition". And then a rainbow of colors flash and it goes back to the vibrant screen doing the same thing over and over. When i plug it into the computer via usb, and open up odin the id shows up for about 2 seconds and then disappears. Please can someone help?
You got bootloop probably from ext4 problem.
Try to get in recovery with keys Then flash rom again if its still there and SD didnt wipe
Otherwise you need to be in download mode for Odin and flash stock

HI ho, Hi ho, off to odin we go....whistle, whistle, whistle,
If he's got rainbows then he won't be able to see recovery, have to odin

Recovery mode isn't working, I was able to connect to odin, but not in download mode, my screen in completely blacked. I put in the pit file and tar file and hit start and this what happened in odin.

So right now its stuck on the last step "setupconnection". Do I just leave it alone, its been like this for the past 20 minutes.
Odin not gonna do anything w/o download mode.

So what am I suppose to do? Can I do anything else?
If you get boot loop when you turn it on you should be able to get to download mode fine. Are you sure you are doing key combo right? Did you flash GB boot loader?

I pressed the volume up and down button along with the power button. Isn't that the proper way to try to get it download mode? Also I have to idea what you mean by "flashing the GB boot loader".
You were suppose to flash GB boot loaders for GB rooms to get rid of rainbows in recovery..
Go to Q&A stickie noob guide and link to "go back to JFD stock" guide.
Should really research and know what you are doing before flashing roms.

Thanks trailblazer11, I've gotten back to factory setting, and thank you everyone else in this thread for helping out.

When I try to flash the jl4 .tar file found in the development section it sticks at cache.rfs. I am currently on stock ji6, unrooted.
As a matter of fact, every time I try to Odin back to jfd, the first try always stocks on cache.rfs but when I unplug and reboot into download mode the second try works. The second try for jl4 stays stuck at the file system part and never even gets to cache.rfs. what am I doing wrong?

I've found if I leave the phone in dl too long before starting odin, say a minute or two of sitting idle, the flash never goes and always hangs at the same spot. I usually open odin and load my files, then boot to dl mode and start the flash within seconds of booting into dl mode, and it goes through every time. Of course in the rare occasion it doesn't, close and relaunch odin and repeat the process. You may want to try downloading a fresh copy of your chosen image if all else fails.

Hello. I tried to use Repartition in Rom Manager and my phone stuck in Vibrant Screen. So I used Odin and check Repartition there nothing was happening for 10 minutes, I decided to unplug and just reload stock rom. I did that without any problems. Phone started to boot up but after Galaxy log it stuck in black screen. I am hopping that I didn't bricked my phone. Can anybody help me solve this problem?
What files are you using in Odin? If trying to flash 2.2 then try Eugenes jk2 for Odin if 2.1 jfd both in the bible/directory. Make sure you're using the 512 pit file also when repartitioning.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I tried Eugene Froyo that Doesn't Brick and official JFD and it getting stuck in cache for a while then screen goes black
Are you also using the 512 pit file? Go here http://androidspin.com/2010/08/09/how-to-restore-or-recover-your-samsung-vibrant/ and follow instructions. As long as you are getting something from the phone then you should be ok I think you are just missing a step. And so you know I found this through the Vibrant directory and it has all the files you need including the Samsung drivers for your PC if you don't have them installed. Good Luck
I tried to Odin to stock T-Mo but I cant get passed the Galaxy S boot screen. It just goes black and if I touch the buttons they light up but phone stays black. I tried a number of times also clicked on repartition in Odin. Odin tells me everything passed but when the phones boots ROM Manager screen comes up goes through a check list with one line in red that reads "Data wipe Failed"
Can someone please help me out. Ran Odin many times but I cant get the phone to go back to full stock. I click repartition but it seems Odin does not wipe the internal SD. I am so vexed. Someone help
I have never partitioned. Or whatever. That can cause a soft brick.

I have before in it went well. The phone (my wifes) was bricked to begin with. It would not go past the white vibrant screen. So I Odined back to stock. It goes through the T Mo stick together screen then gets to the Galaxy S animation. But after the galaxy s logo he screen turns black and only if I touch the buttons to the buttons light up. I tried to reflash via Odin a number of times but I cant get the phone to fully boot.
What ROM you had before going back to stock?
Any lagfix? If yes disable it..
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
You should do it again. No repartition. Wipe data. Dont touch it. Odin will boot up the phone when its fully done.

Try eugenes froyo that doesn't brick then reset odin and then go to stock firmware I mean it couldn't really hurt anything

Okay it also accured to me to try Eugenes. So I did and it worked. But I can not install any programs. It tells me there is not enough space. Then when I look at settings/storage on the bottom it reads 0 space for apps.
Strange no? Any ideas
Thanks to everyone so far. I really appreciate it!
As I understand it as soon as you odin eugenes froyo you have to reset odin get the phone into dl mode again then use odin to put in the stock firmware

Yeah. Tried it on this phone which is my wifes and it bricked for some reason.
You gotta find a way to disable voodoo. Theres a way to disable it by putting something directly into the Voodoo folder but I cant find it =/

Jacs kernel always gave me bricks for some reason. Do what they said again. Flash to eugenes froyo that doesnt brick with repartition checked. Then RIGHT AWAY make sure you have the jfd rom for odin and flash that using odin with repartition unchecked. Dont try to flash a clockwork recovery rom from eugenes froyo that doesnt brick because you arent done fixing it at that point.

once this is fixed if you want voodoo, upgrade to a 2.2 rom and use supercurios own modified kernels. Never had a problem with them.

I cant get to the voodoo folder. I tried every firmware there is and only Eugenes froyo will fully boot. But I cant install any apps so I can get to me system folders so i can see whats going on.
Im so stressed and tired it aint funny.
When I flash a T Mo rom and the phone reboots and goes through a series of line checks (yellow text) I get red text that reads "data wipe failed". Then the phone boots, t mo jingle, then galaxy s screen, then black.
Anyone??? Devs? PLease?
Do you have root explorer?
So this was my first time with CM7 and I followed all the steps but I'm having problems. When I get to installing the .tar file in as pda through odin, I made sure of unchecking auto reboot but after I hit start as it gets to the zImage it justs stops. The bar doesn't fill green in odin, nothing happens, I didn't unplug or touch a thing and my phone goes from the download mode image to a black screen. Now I've waited around 30mins now to find nothing has changed, this is the second time this event has happened since after using odin to go back to stock because I was forced to unplug my phone, bricking it in the process. Can anyone tell me what's wrong? I have clockwordmod, I installed the backup through it, I'm using odin3 v1.00, but I just don't see anything wrong done in the steps. Thank you.

I tried installing "Whompasaurus" ROM from VanillaRootBox.
If I remember correctly, I wiped/factory reset and system vanillaRB then installed Mod version of Whompasaurus ROM.
After than I installed Full version of Whompasaurus ROM w/o wiping any chache, data, system, etc.
And now here I am, "Samsung Galaxy Note II" logo turning on and off not allowing me to enter recovery mode.
FYI, a glimpse of TWRP Recovery image showed for a short period before bootloop when I did Up + Home + Power.
Now I flashed stock ROM using Odin but nothing's happening...

two things. First I think you had to flash the sd card fix before downgrading. At last that's what the op says for root box. Second what Odin file are you using? For you I would use the full stock jg image. Also pull sd card and sim before Odin and leave out to see if it works
