you need to resync your contacts.
when you used your back up all links were broken in the firmware.
Thanks for the reply. Actually I do the resync and still nothing happens. Does resetting to factory default will do the trick?

Worth a factory reset but that just resets existing firmware .

Were your contacts actually saved to google? Or just phone?
Did you manually backup your files to PC? If not - WHY lol

Check your SMTP server settings.
That was the first thing I did. Tried them every way possible. May go back to different rom.
Are you on wifi trying to send?
I only ask because I had the same issue, until I realized my gmail smtp settings wouldn't work while I was using my home wifi network.
I know I know, silly mistake. But hey, they happen

Go to application management & clean cache & data of the app, restart & retry? Might work.

What rom you're using has no bearing on it. Your settings are incorrect.
Using [Rom]AOKP (4.0.4) Update 4.18.2012
I keep getting a "Rom Control stopped working" error. I wiped & factory reset, reflashed twice now and still keep getting the message.
It seemed to first occur when I had changed the boot animation option in the settings.
Anyone else seeing this error come up often too?

I restored my contacts from google, and turned off the boot animation in rom control.
That's all I did. Then I saw the error and figured to wipe everything and re-flash, upon re-flashing it just started popping up again after turning off boot animation. Not sure if I had restored my contacts before or after.

You turned off the boot animation both times? Try it again and DONT turn it off.

Thanks Zoot. Now all my app are from the store but is there a way to save my bookmarks and so as to have them back easily after hard reset?
HI,
Having searched the threads i seem to arrive at no help!!! My neo (MT15 early model) was recently updated using the software from the official site but my phone will only show the screen briefly then go blank BUT the backlight remains on. i can still receive messages and calls but cant see them unless i take the battery off then turn on again. even then it takes 3 or 4 attempts.
Any help or direction would be appreciated
Thanks
If your phone is rooted, try using chainfire 3D, but before that make a NANDROID backup.
Also this app does not work on jelly bean (it will brick your phone) so if you're using JB, don't use the app.

how can i factory reset my phone? i've tried linking it to the pc but cant find anywhere that does it!!!
Marf pointed out something good,
Right now forget about what I said and go to "settings > privacy" and hit "factory reset". But before that make a backup of your contacts with "NQ Mobile Security" cause they will be removed.
Hope it works, cause if not you gonna have to become expert

Hey folks.
My "Application Manager" keeps crashing everytime I open it. No error message, simply closes by itselft after about 5 seconds.
I can't tell what is causing this. I already wiped cache and dalvik, disabled some apps and cleared some space in internal memory. But nothing works.
I've flashed a new kernel (Speedmod) some days ago, but I'm almost sure that I've used application manager after that.
I've been playing with Clean Master and SD Maid, maybe this problem is related to these apps? I don't know.
I would appreciate some help and tips...
Full wipe?

Must have another way...
You've obviously installed something recently or the data of something has changed and caused an incompatibility that's causing this.
If you're sure it worked after the kernel, there's not much you can do without a full wipe
Or restore the nandroid you took before flashing the kernel

I'm afraid I'll disable each recent installed app until I find the culprit.
Just thinking about a full wipe and I'm already tired. Hehe

Using titanium? Yeah that might work. It could be app data from a system/app though

I got a recent nandroid backup here. There is an option in TB to restore apps from a nandroid backup. I was thinking about restore "Settings" system app. Is that safe to do? The Application Manager is related to settings app, right? I cannot find an app with that name.
Yes it will be the settings app, but its likely its not the settings app causing the problem.
My sound menu used to do the same thing. I did a wipe and restored everything in titanium one by one to find out what caused it. Guess what it was?
That's right "wallpaper settings"...
See what I mean?
