Well, title says it all.. I was messing around with build.prop thought I had successfully pushed new build.prop to my prime and well yeah its not booting..
I am currently rooted
Is their anything I can do to get my prime back working?
I can access adb but if I try and get root with "su" I get "segmentation fault", all I need to do is rename "/system/build.prop2" to "/system/build.prop" but I can't get permissions!! GRR
I have also copied the build.prop file to the internal sd card and tried to copy it to system but still need to have root permissions!
Please, any ideas?

I can't get root in adb, to then mount the system writeable as I get a error "Segmentation fault", but I can access adb

what causes the seg fault? when you try and 'su'?
At the very worst, you should be able to put the official firmware on your SD card and then boot into stock recovery.. but if you can get into stock recovery, see if you can just do a wipe/restore.

Yeah if I try and type "su" and get root I get the segmentation fault
This firmware couldn't brick my prime could it?
And no, I can't get into recovery, I get an android with a big red explanation mark
Why do people keep messing with build.prop? Most do it just to play some games. It always lead to issues such as this.
Good luck getting it up and running. Check out the system dump thread in developement and see if you can adb the file into your prime.
Try this
No adb required

Thanks for the patronising comment, and obviously I have already tried copying build.prop back to the prime but I can't get root permissions.

Thats weird. Recovery was part of boot loader and build.prop part of rom. It shouldnt have affected recovery. Unless i guess you unlocked the bootloader too.

Sure. This.
QUOTE=Gage_Hero;23590618]My wifi works pretty good after some build.prop tweaks, i would suggest that before modding the tf201. Basically, i added net.tcp.buffersize.wifi with some values and net.tcp.buffersize.umts with the same values 4096 ,87380, 256960, 4096, 16384, 256960
Of course you need to be rooted
Edit: download buildprop editor from the market and copy and paste these values. Seems to work a bit better for me atleast.

OP, have you tried wipe data from recovery? Just to make sure, to get into stock recovery, hold -vol and power buttons together, then + vol within 5sec, then -vol to choose option and + vol to confirm?

Yeah I had already tried that, instead of working... I lost adb access.
I am going to have to try and return it
Oh that sucks :/ i feel for you man! Hope everything gets sorted out^^
We should make a big warning thread sticky or something with infos about what can happen when you mess around with build.prop. This is about the third brick i see happening because of editing the build.prop.

Would it be possible just to get you to copy and paste the two lines you added. I would like to add them into mine, and give it a shot. I'm not sure of the actual syntax though. Thank you!
Just download TCP Buffer from the market.

Hello,
I have an unlocked and rooted TF201. I don't really need to be rooted - I liked having control over my device, but can live without it.
Questions:
1) Is there a way to "trick" Google Movies app to thinking I'm not rooted?
(I've tried unrooting with ViperMod, didn't work. I've also tried using the recompiled movies app someone else posted -- FC'd each time I tried to run it)
2) Is there a way to revert back to an unrooted ROM?
(Several similar posts warn that trying to do so will result in a hard brick)
Thank you!
Yes and no. You can download ota root keeper and select temp uninstall root which will temporarily unroot your device but Google movies will still not work. You can use an app called mspot to rent movies. I believe they're in HD too! Hope this helps!
Just to be clear being rooted does NOT stop one from using Google movies. Only unlocked bootloader.

Thanks for the clarification, Lock-N-Load.
So, as far as you know, once someone unlocks their device (Asus Transformer Prime), no more downloaded Google Movies. Correct?
google should get a move on and release their services in europe! GOGO NOW!

Root no problem (I've rented numerous times with root)
Unlocked bootloader... your done bye bye movie rental

Sadly, this isn't true if you've unlocked your Asus TF201. Once unlocked, no more Google Movies for you. Period.

I disagree, take your business somewhere else. The best way to fix the problem is to give your money to some competitor like mSpot, Amazon or the like.

Yes, I have this fixed.
It will be included in Hairybean 1.5 when it is released soon.
Awesome! I'm currently running CM10. Am assuming upgrade to Hairybean 1.5 will be painless.
If so, and you've solved the movie issue, then you can definitely put me down for a donation when it's out.
Thanks in advance for the great work!

Are you willing to unlock your Prime and void the waranty? If yes then you can install CWM. If not, you have to wait for someone to find an exploit that allows root.

His Prime is already unlocked. The issue is that he cannot install CWM because:
A) No root access for ROM manager inside working OS!
B) No access to using fastboot as this is his only computer!
If you can get to london next week, I will be more than happy to meet up and help you out dude.
might take you up on that as i fooked a flash on my galaxy s now and cant get to the recovery screen now.. lol. where in london are you?

I know that he is unlocked from a previous thread.
I'm in Brockley in south London however, I spend time at my University in North London, near the Emirates Stadium.
PM me if you want to meet up, and hopefully we can get you back up and running.
ok, bit of an update. my galaxy i9000 crashed the other day. managed to get into local library and flash through odin in there and get it working again but the machine is locked down and no command prompt available so unable to push cwm onto my prime. so question, is there a method for doing this without command prompt or can some clever bod write an executable or batch file that will do this for me on a restricted local library machine.. cheers

My Asus Transformer prime TF201 is rebooting after every 30 mins on JB update. I am sick of it. !!!
Any way to roll back to ICS ? or solution on this?
I've heard that if you do a factory reset it should help that. Sucks but it might be one way. As fas as I know u need unlocked boot loader and the right files to be able to go back k to ICS. I'm on JB and rolling smooth.

My TF201 has also been rebooting regularly since I upgraded to Jelly Bean. It usually happens when no other activity is taking place. I have seen other posts that say that the hard reset does not fix the problem. Has anyone gotten through to ASUS? I have called and emailed them to no avail so far.
I also have had this problem after upgrading. Not found a solution to it.

My tablet will boot up very slow at times and some of the apps that came with the device with crash.
