At best your phone will boot and be somewhat operational.

Would be surprised if it even gets past the bootscreen. SpeedMod is a Samsung based Kernel, so will not work on AOSP based ROMS (CM7, MIUI, etc). This is explained in the OP on the SpeedMod thread.

Best case scenario it will boot loop, worst case it will soft brick. Diagnosis: Don't be an idiot.

Nothing will happen... and by that i mean the phone wont boot.

Sometimes it is necessary to flash it twice, meaning without reboot... Just stay in recovery and repeat the procedure (second time without /system wipe)

i've tried that as well... nothing seems to work! Thanks anyway
You're 100% sure it's the GT-I9100/GT-I9100T? If it's anything other, that could explain it?
If you checked that you really have the right phone, install CM7 like always and right after it before you reboot the device, install siyahkernel. After it I guess it should work fine.

This, but if you're coming from stock, flash CyanogenMod twice (right after you install in CWM, repeat those same steps of wiping and flashing again).

I am a bout to make a noob question: Isn't the siyah kernel for sammy roms? It's just that I come from the galaxy s and there we had diferent kernels for CM7 and sammybased roms. But in the gs2 case some kernels work on both?

[Q] Siyah Kernel, Cannot use Speedmod kernel

Hi,
I am using CM 9 (14th April nightly build). I flashed Siyah's kernel 3.1rc4. Everything seems to work fine with it. But then I flashed the Speedmod kernel (K3-9).
Now when my phone boots, I don't see any boot animation and as soon as the lockscreen appears I get lots of "has stopped working popups" for various services (phone, acore etc etc) and the phone is basically un-usable.
I tried flashing CM 9 again, so that I get Codeworx's kernel. I flashed Speedmod over it but still the same problem
Anyone here facing/faced a similar issue ?
Thanks!
why are you migrating yourself from no problems to problems,
forget the Kernel which is giving treble thats it...or you really want to know the reason ask in the speedmode kernel thread....

Oh that is sad ! Speedmod was the best kernel that I had on GB. That is why I wanted to try out the ICS version.

Because I haven't found a sweet spot yet. That is why I am experimenting with different kernels.

Will post in the speedmod thread. Just wanted to know if this was a generic problem with all kernels or just speedmod specific.
It says very clearly in the Speedmod thread that it works only on Samsung based firmwares. CM9, AOKP, etc... are not Samsung based firmwares, so not too surprisingly it doesn't work.

[Q] Flashed Siyah Kernel on CM9 RC1

Hi, i just flashed the Siyah Kernel v1.3.7beta for SGS3 on my SGS2.
I was using the CyanogenMod 9 RC1.
Now i'm stuck at the logo screen, the one with the name of the cellphone and can't get into Recovery mode, but i can get into the Download Mode.
How can i get my phone working again?
Any help will be aprecciated.
How about flashing a kernel (which supports CM9) for the correct device?
reflash the original kernal included in the CM9 thread that should restore your phone.
I'm now downloading the Samsung Drivers to try flash the Siyah Kernel for the SGS2 through the ODIN, i was just afraid that doing this could get the situation worse.

Why did you think this would even remotely work? Would you actually try flashing a kernel meant for an SGS2 on an SGS?
Well, maybe you would...
I don't thinked that would work, but i haven't noticed it was for the SGS3 T_T
It was my fault, i need to pay more attention.
Flashed the right Siyah Kernel through the ODIN, phone working now
Thanks for all the help and sorry about my stupidity.
You know, i'm a noob (the video in the register form says that D
Thanks, cya.

No, your kernel won't be touched. Just make sure it's possible to flash the new second rom with the Siyah kernel you use right now.

thanx
Thank you for the answer btw any rom recommendations for siyah?

Well that obviously depends on which version of Siyah you want to use as they all support different bases.
You would be much better off finding a rom you like and then flashing the appropriate Siyah kernel for it. However you can start off on any kernel version you like as custom rom will replace with its own kernel anyway so just flash Siyah again afterwards.
Also please note that this type of question is not allowed for various reason.

Flashing another 1st rom will 'replace' your kernel. If you flash a new 2nd rom, the current kernel won't be replaced. Clear?
