you mean youtube 1080p or something like that??? good question, guessing our phones don't have the decoders to do that and do not take full advantage of the gpu and cpu. But in any case our screens are not 1080p its not even 720p, it's qhd meaning 1/4 of actual 1080p. so there would be no point anyways..

hmm, I didn't know that, so technically we have a phone that's not using its full potential at the moment, its kinda like when all these dual core computers came out with windows xp, when it wasn't even supported...The players also have to support hardware encoding and there's a lot of other factors..

Hah whats funny is that I have a galaxy tab 10.1 and my phone runs videos that the tab can't and a better smoother performance too...lol...it has a lot to do with the player and the decoders as well and how they use the system. samsung is the master of that, they include a lot of good support for video and audio play on their phones...but unfortunately I refuse to upgrade to touchwiz on my tab and rather stay stock honeycomb and just convert videos on my desktop and watch them later on my tab.
i had the sensation before the amaze and it played 1080 perfect with the exact same cpu/soc and less ram and lower clock 1.2ghz, and ill respectfully disagree that playing videos in 1080 doesnt make a difference as it clearly does
720p cant read small text on streams and in 1080 i can read it perfect just its going at 2 fps >,<
btw i had faux kernel on my sensation and i also have it in my amaze

I don't know, maybe its not true 1080p or true 720p, they might have been encoded with loss of quality to save space...ask others see what they think. If you think that's the case download this program it converts all files to other files...and convert the flash videos to mp4 1080p files

anyway, I cant wait to get my hands on this. I wonder if sprint stores will have them at opening? I got my reserved does that guarantee I will get one?
that was a pretty good first review, he covered most of my questions.
I'll go ahead and ask, why such a dramatic difference in bench scores between the E3D and the SGS2? I know everyone says "scores don't matter", but it begs the question if they are utilizing similar hardware. Also, I understand that the current set of bench marking test probably do not account for a dual core proc.
The benchmarks also don't account for the higher resolution/pixel count on the E3d.
I think the reason he couldn't find The Green Hornet was cause I read that it came preloaded on the microsd card.... or like he said cause its a preproduction phone

Because a useless horribly made app that isn't even optimized for QHD High resolution screens or dual cores defines a phone in the real world...
Same goes for linpack and smartbench and any other apps that claim to "benchmark" devices

not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere.. but if you go through a cashback site (fat wallet) you get $25 back from wirefly. Pre-ordered mine for 179.99 - $25 cb = $154.99 no taxt and free standard shipping.
still no answer about gorilla glass
The real reason behind the benchmarksbis not because the e3d soc is half as powerful as the others its bc its the only soc that has asynchronous cores..quadrant and other can account for the dual cores ..look at the gs2 its off the chart..but the e3d core does not run the same clock speeds on each core..its actually a benefit..an optimization..take those benchmarks.with a grain of salt..if.the processor suck its couldn't eat through 1080p video or run so smoothly..
Was anyone else impressed with the camera quality? Still shots were pretty good, but the reviewer recorded and showed a video recorded in QHD (960 x 540) resolution. It wasn't even 720p and the video quality and audio quality were pretty damn good, imo.

Ice cream will take full advantage of dual core...
But even smartbench claims to be "optimized" for dual core devices... Even though they still have problems reading some dual core frequencies...
My advise don't buy a phone for benchmark scores and reciews....buy it because it will suit your every day needs.... Or dreams (3d video/pictures)
Yes take reviews and benchmarks into consideration but don't base your money on other peoples bias opitions and ****ty coded apps....

I can add a bit here...
Smartbench 2011 is optimized for multi-cores (4 cores to be exact). It creates 4 identical threads that are assigned with identical workloads. Whether your phone has 2 or 4 cores, Smartbench (version 2011 only, 2010 was not designed to use multi-cores) will keep them busy, I can assure you.
I do have a problem with reading frequency though. One of the ROM developer has kindly given me some clues as to why this is happening. It is mainly around Tegra 2 devices that don't correctly report the right frequency when it is set. Also, the Sensation seems to be reporting it as zero as well. In the future versions, I will try to measure the clock speed during the run time without affecting the benchmark scores. It will be interesting to see how this works out on async processors such as the ones in the Sensation and this.
And once again, here's a article that explains facts on dual-core support for Android OS. It really doesn't require Ice Cream - Froyo with SMP will utilize both cores just fine:

Don't think so:
The X10 also didn't have multi-touch and 720p recording when it was launched, but after an update it was capable of that.
But maybe the quality is better on 720p than on 1080p, less noise, better light conditions, more fps.
For x10
Yes, [email protected] ([email protected] with cont. autofocus via Android 2.1 Eclair update)
---
For HD video is required Single core 1GHz which x10 have.
But for FULL HD is required minimal 1.0 Dual core processor which x10 dont have, arc dont have and neo dont have.
Phone with 1.0ghz single core dosent have power enough to record that resolution or even playback it.

yes but if you gonna see videos on LCD TV 42" you can note the difference between resolutions. That's why i'm asking in the first place.
It is possible to do. But i can only tell it is hard and takes alot of time. The Canon EOS 500D has also only 1080p (20fps) and it took a **** time before someone could make it 24 fps (still not usuable enough though) But im comparing DLSR with smartphone just my words

After reading this tread i actually searched the market and found Lgcamera (free)
After installing it i changed to cam mode and selected 1080p and tried to record...
And actually it starterd ---RECORDING 1080p--- After that i tried it again but it wasnt able to record a video, even after setting it to 720p it still wasnt able to record.
So i installed it again and it worked again. So i looks like neo can record
1920x1080p - h.264 - mp4 - up to 30 bitrate and max of 30 fps
--> Looks like cleraring cache & data of Lgcamera fixes the "cannot record video bug" so u dont have to install it every time again.
To record properly i OC to 1800 Ondemand with 40 cpu treshhold, using lower settings resolved for me not to be able to record video in 1080 (even after reinstalling)
I see quite a improvement on a bigger screen.

yes every phone is geared towards something, I believe the amaze is geared towards best picture taking. SGSII seems more of a gaming device to me. although I must say I feel like the CPU on this device makes up for the galaxy tab 10.1 that I have with tegra 2. My videos are much smoother on my phone especially if I overclock, but I rarely watch videos on such a small screen I rather use my tablet. decoders are also a big part of watching movies. right now all the phones I have seen are not able to decode MKV files very well, since MKV is actually a bin that can contain many file formats such MP4 AVI, with the advantage of high quality, soft encoded subtitles and much more verstatile..I have yet to see a good player that plays MKV files smoothly on android!! GPU is more for gaming and can to a great extend be compensated by the CPU, once we get dual core support with ICS you won't have any problems playing games, not that you should have any right now!!! there's also a rom out that supports dual core cpu, you might want to check that out, if you're looking for a good gaming experience.
I could be wrong but I think the tmobile SGSII also uses andreno 220 no?

Yes I was right, the tmobile SGSII runs the same snapdragon processor as the amaze since they needed it for the 42mbps 4g speeds speeds: thus it runs the same gpu as ours...the other SGSII's from Att, verizon, and sprint run the exynos processor which has a better gpu. Right now at T-mobile this is the best you can get
exynos gpu is quadcore but wastes more battery obviously

haha, if you like your sensation's camera, Amaze will blow it out of the water...it f/2.2 so takes very macro shots, 28mm which gives you a really side field compared to any phone camera you use today (basically you don't have to move back to get someone entirely in the picture) and backside illuminated for low light conditions... my gf has the sensation, I've tested them with the same conditions. Hi there,
I'm confused regarding any speculations, etc if the HTC EVO 3D records 1080p video. The official specs say that it records 720p on 2D now.
Is there a custom rom which allows recording in 1080p? If yes, which is it?
Do you think it's worth the money over the HTC Sensation / Sensation XE? 300eur / 350eur / 399eur
Thanks
It doesn't do 1080p last time I checked. This is more or less a hardware limitation. I would just save my money and wait for the One series instead of considering this phone or the Sensation. Both are pretty outdated now.

Its not really a hardware limitation. They are 5megapixel so they have enough for 1080p...

1080p is about 2 mp so you're right. But I'm not sure if there's any limitation on processing the 1080p recording. Compressing is more work than decompressing. And even more work for 3d. Not saying it can't be done, but that could be another limitation. I'm not sure where anyone got stuck trying to achieve this.

sensation does 1080p and our evo is technically more powerful, it is software because the wtsb rom does it using gpu rendering.
I think the One S is overpriced for it's specs. It has a Krait 1.5Ghz CPU and Adreno 225 and 8MP. The only thing it has is a better picture and video sensor. Also the 16GB onboard memory is not expandable! (no MicroSD) ;/
The One X is way to big to keep in my hand - 4.7inch. more than 4.3inches screen is an overkill for me ;/
The One X would be a revolutionary phone, though the size is what keeps me back.
Would consider spending 300eur vs 500eur? 200eur difference!
Also is the wtsb rom stable enough? Heard it has bugs in messages, 3D games, and some more. Have these been fixed?

LOL, One S is way better than One X and One XL is better than both.
The Dual-core krait is a lot more powerful than Quad-core tegra 3.
Search "tegra3 vs krait" on google and see benchmark tests and reviews.

mp its not the issue here, frames/sec while sustaining those mp it is...
if the camera requires more than 1/60 of sec to elaborate those pixels you cant use it for video, only for still images.
Ah I see, I think it's worth the wait for the One S then. I've compared some benchmarks, mainly tegra 3 gets defeated in loads of benchmarks as it's not using its full potential - 4 cores. Although tegra 3 scores higher in GPU intensive stuff.
One S get around the 430eur mark and I'll buy you will it?

mostly look like that snapdragon 3 was really memory starved, nearly all the S4 speed increment comes out of moving from a single channel 266mhz memory interface to a dual channel 500mhz one.
point of note, tegra 3 has a 1066mhz dual channel one and still is slower, in this case is just a core efficiency problem, probably the common cache memory is too small and the cores fight for accessing memory between themselves.
meanrom has a 1080p option, but it doesn't work.

1080p 3D recoding?
Hi guys!
This, allmost 1 year old ROM, in his description says it has not 1080p 2D recording but "1080p 3d recording in cam"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1205331
This is CDMA version, so I cannot try it.
Can anyone test it?
And there are a lot of "Can EVO 3D do 1080p?" questions, and nobody even mentioned this ROM. Why?
The amaze camera app has the 1080p bit rate and you can find it in the dev section
