32GB Touchpad with broken LCD and Digitizer - TouchPad General

Hey.
So i have a broken LCD and digitizer, found them on ebay for $110 shipped on ebay, I only paid $150 for the touchpad, but also purchased a case and charging dock for it. Is it worth it to repair it, or just just sell it as is?

Repair it. You'll never ever get what you have in it the way it sits.

Are you sure the LCD is broken? Usually just the digitizer will break if you drop it hard.

[Q] cracked my screen - need replacement

Accidently stepped on my tablet and now the screen is cracked on the corner. Where can I find a screen replacement and is there a replacement tutorial?
Did you buy the tablet with a credit card? Some cards offer insurance for accidents like yours. You might qualify for a replacement.

A member has reported he same issue before. here is the thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894003
And he could not find a replacement screen. I guess that you should contact Viewsonic tech support to see what can they do or how much would they charge you?

i paid with my debit card. (I dont think my debit card gives me those protections)
@tyy10002 thanks for the link
If you cant find one anywhere else i would try a local glass store. A lot can cut to dimensions and maybe they couldd make one to custom fit our screens?

does you debit card have a visa or mc logo on it? (most do these days) If so you have the option of using it as a credit card or atm card even though both will withdraw funds from your bank account and to you it looks the same the two transactions are different. long tory short if you entered a pin at the pos then you're right you probably don't have those protections (I'd still check with your bank) but if you just swiped it and signed like you would with any other card than you should be covered.
I have a Cracked Glass Too!
I have a cracked glass on my GTablet as well. I ordered a replacement LCD screen B101AW06 V.1 10.1" WSVGA GLOSSY LCD SCREEN LED GLOSSY
and found out that I really don't need it now because the actual glass covering the LCD was the issue. So if anyone needs one, I will sell it to you what I paid $50 plus the shipping to you.
After talking to Viewsonic GTab Support, they basically don't have replacement parts that you can order from them. The only way they suggested it could be repaired was if I purchased it new like that damaged in the box, they would replace it. Or, I would have to find a glass company that could possibly make me one. I asked to speak with someone in mgmt and was promised that he would call me back within 48hrs with a real solution, but I haven't heard from anyone yet. So it appears that I am stuck until someone can give me a replacment glass screen solution.
Anyone out there have a better solution to my issue?
I sympathize with you but I think you are doing it wrong...

Help! I really need a glass screen replacement for my G-Tablet...... the new LCD I bought is basically useless because I don't really needed. I need the glass screen!

Shouldn't be to hard to figure out.
I have a similar problem... accidentally lost my grip, and now there's a crack radiating out from around where the camera is located. Thankfully most of the cracking over the LCD screen consists of large pieces, rather than tiny fragments that would tend to fall out.
Does anyone know if it's practical to try some sort of resin designed to infiltrate glass cracks?
I don't care about a perfect solution, but at least something to diminish the appearance of the cracks and make it less likely for the glass fragments to fall out would be great.

You broke your LCD. Buy a new LCD+Digitizer kit
It's only when you don't buy the insurance that you drop and break your phones. It's happened to a lot of us, don't worry.
Totally agree.
Buy a kit and replace it.
how difficult is it to install the new screen?
also, its very strange. there is no physical damage visible on the screen, its only when the back light turns on that the cracks show.

I think you'd need both.
Personally, I would buy the screen only if you have time to spare. The Digitizer screen is made from gorilla glass so if you can't see any damage there may not be a problem. do you still get feedback if you touch any of the screen/buttons? If so only the LCD itself may have to be replaced.
If you are strapped for cash just replace the lcd because it is 100% done for. If that works you just saved 50 bucks. If the screen works after you replace it but you aren't getting any touch feedback then unfortunately you would have to buy a new digitizer screen, and I dont think that one is gorilla glass :/

i can't see any damage to the digitizer. i still get feedback when i unlock the phone (when i put my finger where the unlock bubble would be on the screen and slide it it vibrates)
Throwing it out there. Don't remove the orange triangle tape thingy. Ignore that part of the video. I didn't remove carefully and the phone no longer is responsive.

[Q] digitizer question

I cracked the digitizer on my phone, and I'm not quite sure what to do. I've replaced a digitizer before, but the screen was far less responsive, borderline unusable. I could get a new LCD panel, but for that price I might as well buy a new phone off of eBay(gnex around $325, rezound around $375). Opinions?
You can get the LCD and Digitizer for $50 shipped off of eBay... it's up to you whether or not that's worth it.

Really? When I replaced it before, LCD panels were around $150-200 (seven or eight months ago). I'm just afraid of it ending up unresponsive again.

I found this, it should be absurdly simple to replace. Not making fun of you or anything but you don't even have to glue it together
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-HTC-THU...287?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20c778d4ef
I ordered one just for the eventuality that I want to replace my screen. Right now it has a splotch under it (my dumb ass spilled rubbing alcohol on it) but I've been living with it.
You sir, are a lifesaver. $50 LCD panel I can afford. Thank you greatly.

No problem, hopefully you'll be able to enjoy your Thunderbolt for at least a little while longer
If you just need the digitizer, check this one: http://www.amazon.com/HTC-Verizon-T...sr=8-6&keywords=thunderbolt+lcd+and+digitizer $14.99. That's the same one I bought over a year ago, when I first bought my Bolt from a coworker after he dropped it and cracked the digitizer glass. Worked like a champ, no issues whatsoever.

bottom 1/2 of digitizer not working

i got a evo3d off ebay and the bottom 1/2 of the digitizer does not work(got it as is) now is it an easy fix by replaceing the digitizer or could that be the board/connections?? I have a fealing i have a fancy paper weight!
o ya and it wont ruu! keeps giving me error 115 or what ever the unknown error is

Could be either. No way of knowing until you replace one or the other. The board could be water damaged as well.
Some EVO 3d's had defective digitizers mine was one and I went to a sprint store and told and showed them that's what it was and they replaced it for free. I don't know if that will be the same in your situation but it very well may be a defective digitizer.

Rezound (broken) and NEW uninstalled LCD for sale

I bought a broken Rezound with plans to fix it. The LCD didn't work, so I purchased a new one on eBay $35, when I got it apart I realized that the connector on the mainboard was broken and a new LCD isn't going to fix it. I would assume even the original LCD and digitizer are ok, but I can't guarantee that.
I've decided to sell the Rezound and screen for parts. The battery seems to be good, the LCD is BRAND NEW, phone is in good condition. I'll be keeping the Dre beets earbuds!
PM with offers or questions.
Thanks!

Any chance of a price for the digitizer itself? Bought mine with a hairline crack, 6 months ago, starting to wonder what a non cracked screen looks/feels like. Lemme know, thanks

Your best bet would be to take it apart and sell each piece individually because you can get more money for that

I have a Sprint EVO 4G that's in the same condition. I broke the LCD connector on the motherboard while trying to replace the screen. Not sure if the connector can be bought from Digikey or something...but I can't identify it.
