Don't drop it ... - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I had it 2 days and forgot to zip the sleeve. 4 feet later Prime meets concrete.
The rest is expensive spilled milk. Hit the corner, slid a few feet. The screen is trashed and the bezel or whatever that circumferential piece is damaged.
RMA is on the way. We'll see what this costs.

Best Buy black tie.... $183ish after tax for 2 years. Worth It for peace of mind

Thanks for posting this. I was wondering what would happen if I dropped it on concrete but I wasn't too sure since there are many different brands and colors of concrete. Thanks again for the advice.

i really want to see pictures of this

SquareTrade... Under half the price, for equal coverage!

What's next?
Don't swim with it
Don't shower with it
Don't run over it with a car
Don't try and sleep with it
Doesn't this kind of go without saying?

Are those really the best jokes you've got? Pretty weak, honestly.
Obviously dropping any electronic device carries varying risks of breaking the device. Then again, I dropped my TF101 several times in similar ways (in the same garage once - I'm not the most careful guy) and was lucky enough to make it out with only a few scratches and an almost imperceptible ding in the corner. I think this device is much is more fragile. I just thought emphasizing how fragile this thing is might help someone else remember to be more careful than I was.
I didn't take a picture of it. Probably should have, but I had depositions all day and wanted to get it packed and RMA done asap Monday morning, so I packed it immediately after getting off the phone with ASUS.

Not necessarily, I have slept with mine a few times, no problem

Bummer, man. Best of luck to you. Let us know how it goes with the ASUS repair process. I'd consider the repair process/customer service to be an integral part of a solid device and this could be a barometer of sorts...

Dont get it.. its not as useful as i hope. NOthing like the Smart Cover, it has only 2 set ups both in landscape, it doesnt cover the back, and its an hassle to use while charging. Also if you plan on getting the keyboard dock also it would be useless
I agree, it sucks hard. Sending mine back next week.

that bad huh? guess ill pass on these.
wow, if its that bad maybe I should send mine back too, its coming tomorrow, but what alternatives are there that aren't bulky?
I actually like it. Not sure what problem with charging while it's attached, mine is easily plugged in. I like it because it's nice and thin, and I'm not terribly worried about the back getting scuffed up. I might be unusual in that regard, tho.

I find it very useful. Use my TP about 7-9 hours a day straight and it works in great form presentations to movies to typing. It'd all how u want to look at it. If you think it's garbage you will see it only like that. I have a backside protector and it won't ever scratch etc. You just can't charge it while it's in the high position.

How easy can you unhook the cover? I'd like to get it to protect the screen from my cats stepping on it while at home, but put the Prime in a leather case when traveling with it.

have also the original sleeve and indeed when set it meanwhile charging it is not stabill and stands on the plug. Also when not charging its falls easy when on a glidy surface its cajooling to keep it standing. So regret bought it

the hinges on my sleeve literally fell a part. the metal hinges also left scuff marks and a square shaped chip on the back of my prime.

I have a back protector but I understand the marks on the back.. I can see it slightly on my protector..
I put thick tape where the hinges would go but I dont like the cheap feel of it and for 40 bucks I already asked for RMA.

Already got the Asus sleeve from amazon and the first think I did before I applied was to put some thick tape on the hinge. After that also putted a very small pice on the back of the tablet and now is working great I don't have the risk of any scratch type.
I think is a good product with its flaws but it's overpriced

The "I just got the Keyboard Dock from Newegg. Com" thread

Hello everyone i wanted to share some photos and initial feelings about the dock. First of all i ordered it yesterday and got it today. $170 with overnight shipping. So my initial feelings are awesome no more holding the tablet at night in bed lol, ill rest it on my chest. Here are some photos. Build quality is sturdy. Hopefully we get some cases soon.

Edit: Nvm. Just ordered it from Best Buy.
I ordered on Wed night but 2day Air from Newegg means I won't get it til Monday since UPS does not delivery on Saturday unless requested and Newegg didn't have any options for that. Blargh! It's in Laurel MD right now and I wish I could just drive over there from Northern VA, haha.

Is there a reason the Champagne version is not shipping? I haven't heard anything on that.
Okay I like the dock... It's like a cool stand/case/extended battery.. But idk the keyboard just doesn't give enough when typing for my style... Like they keys don't push down enough... Also whenever I type the track pad is so sensitive that it moves the mouse and clicks it while I'm typing... Messing up some words...

Plastic piece for charging port lost!!!

How do I get another one of those plastic plug things for my prime to use for the charging port? I've had my prime for 3 days and lost it already :-(
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
If you mean the thing that you're supposed to take out and then leave in the box forever and forget about, then I don't think you'll ever get another one.
I still have mine and use it to keep particles away. Protecting the charging port is a good thing and imo doesn't hurt the look either. I actually have 3 from returning my previous Primes. Having that added protection is nice.

I have had issues in the past with devices getting the charging port fudged up like bent or broken and honestly when I saw the prime had I thought it was brilliant! Haha. Well if you left yours in the box and don't need it can I have it?
Seriously though. This is a real concern of mine. I think the dog ate it. LOL.

To be honest, I don't share your concerns and don't really intend to use mine so, if you are interested, PM me your mailing address and I'll send you mine.
Lol did this really warrant a whole thread? btw, Sugru would probably be a good solution to your problem. you can make new plugs whenever you want. Its a moldable silicon that drys at room temperature. Check it out!

DIY Nook Tablet Case / Disguise - REDUX!

Now, they can be had at the local goodwill for $0.50 each, or three for a dollar.

On a side note...I got suckered into the door to door encyclopedia sales...Cost me a total of like $890 bucks. But it was a lot more than just a set of books. I was basically a complete "homeschooling kit".

It was the right thickness. The original plan was to use the foam insert from the nook packaging. That didn't work out, wasn't secure enough, and couldn't access any buttons/ports, hence, the "broccoli bands".

X-acto knife, it took a few blades, they get dull pretty quick cutting paper. I don't like posting links outside of the forum, but, if you google "hollow out a book in 80 easy steps" the first result is the guide I used.

I love it, but there's something painfully ironic about ripping out the guts of a book to hold an e-reading device. XD

Do you play a lot of games or hold the device in landscape often?
I'm just spit-balling here, but.. could be oil from your palm penetrating the stock screen protector? or between stock and your screen protector?
Maybe it was there from the start but I never noticed it. Haven't played any games on it or had my finger there.
I really wonder what it is and why you can only see it when breathing on it, when I wipe it clean its really hard to see.
How easy is it to remove the ASF?

I would think it is the coating on the screen protector as well.
As for removing the stock protector, it can be done but by all accounts you will feel like committing suicide halfway through. there is a guide somewhere on here
