Ok, I saw this youtube link and want one now! As of now they do not layer Amazes yet. I e-mailed the company in an attempt to see if they can apply their "nano" layer of the amaze. I really want this!

Old news. There have been many companies that claimed to be able to do it. I'm assuming they all led to failure.

I actually agree. I just sent him a PM and found this after the PM.
I might have to go through every one of his posts and remove any that seem negative or not productive... I just wouldn't want him to be reduced to Junior Member status.
I have a hard time putting faith in something like this. Not trying to be overly skeptical but I'm sure the company won't shed too many tears if my device shorts out.
As for the technology, I'm thinking it's some sort of PVD coating which wears down over time, particularly so with something like a phone.
Met some of these guys at CES, though I think there were other companies there doing the same thing. They were demonstrating on some iPhones, and on a tissue paper that had been treated as well (putting blue-dyed water on the tissue - beaded up nice).
Talked to them for a bit. Guy told me it's not yet 100% waterproof, step below. Asked him what that meant - basically you should try to avoid prolonged submersion in water. But a dip in the toilet, bath, pool should be fine.
If anyone wants, I have a 30% off treatment code from them. I think it's multi-use, since it doesn't seem unique. Normal price is $59.99 I believe.

Seems a bit fishy. liquid dynamics do not work like that with electronics... At least not now. might be worth it to a degree, but how many times do you let your $500 device out of your sight?

about the guys saying they wouldnt risk it, are you saying you would risk water droping or some other liquid on your phone? lol, id rather have a "chance" of having this product in case something happened. they dont make this product so we can take underwater pictures or go swimming with it, they make it so its protected.. lol, ive actually had a friend spill beer all over my leg when i had my HD7 and luckily the water damage label didnt go off and i got it replaced. im sure i wouldnt have to if i had this

you can buy those labels for like $4 on ebay i think, but it has to be the exact matching one. HTC uses different ones on a lot of their devices, couldnt even find one for the incredible lol

There are a couple now. HTC has gotten smart about it. I'd assume there are 3-4 on every new phone. With MSRP rising, they just want to be sure. Not trying to be negative, just a little realistic. If you believe a $4 sticker can trick HTC into giving you a $530 phone replacement... sounds like a crime to me.
Has anyone gotten this type of treatment done yet?

That device is not currently on our approved device list but we are
constantly doing research and development to expand the available
devices. Liquipel is applicable to all types of electronic devices but
with a varying degree of performance. For devices not on the approved
device list we are still able to make them splash proof and spill
resistant. We will file your request and notify you when the device is
available if you are not interested in having it treated before it is
has been added to the approved device list.
The usual turn around time is anywhere from the same day we receive
your device. To 1 business day.

So basically, they can still do it but they don't seem to guarantee a full waterproof seal
Then we should bombbard them with requests to put it on the list!

I just don't see how that's possible if they don't cover the ports that give access to the inside of the phone.
Considering our ports on our phone lead right into our battery cover and all of our internal components.

This technology has been in the works for a while. I remember reading about it and seeing videos of it in action a while back, like at least 5 years ago. I'm super excited to see that it's finally coming around!
It's basically a spray, or a vapor, or a liquid itself, that they spray on or dunk the electronics in. It coats literally EVERYTHING inside it. Imagine dipping your phone in thick paint and letting it dry. Same concept but this is a nano thin layer of a clear substance that repels water. Amazing stuff.
I'm definitely going to give it a shot if their site ever loads and I can find out how much it costs. Haha

I have seen some other companies doing the same thing, except with car windshields. It's like a high-tech rainex. Very cool, didnt thing it would be out for phones this soon, but that's incredible! I wonder if you will be able to remove the housing on your phone after it get's sprayed with this stuff, and it still be waterproof upon putting it back together. like nguy said earlier it has to seal off the ports, and dis-assembling it would definitely break this seal.

Yes you can, they did this with and HTC device and there's a video of it on their website on the bottom. you can take off the back, the battery, heck you can dissasseble put it in water and put it back, IT WILL STILL WORK. This nano spray goes into every SINGLE CREVICE OF YOUR PHONE. it is nano technology!!

This does not affect the phone in any way...its nano...search nano and see how small it is, 1 nanometer = 1.0 × 10-6 millimeters, its at least 1 millionth of a millimeter or smaller... you can see on a ruller how big a millimeter is. does that answer your questions, if won't affect anything, just repel water. if it doesn't affect the conductance between the battery and the phone, it really wont' affect anything else...but call and ask them, i'm sure you'll get the same answer

I am guessing that all this does is protect the electronic components from shorting out or corroding if they are exposed to liquids. I also assume that if you submerge the phone, it will still sink and fill with water and you will still get water under the screen and have to dry it out, etc.
Finally, and I didn't read their web site, but does the process void the warranty?
I watched a couple videos on this tested on the iphone and thunderbolt and it did work. i wouldnt want to test it unless i had a backup or something. it would be safe to have just cause though

I asked about the warranty because I had not seen the video on how this is applied to the phone. I have since seen that. So, if that is how it is applied, every phone should be supported soon.
Believe me, I am the same way; How would HTC know? I guess I am just not convinced that the $60 application is worth it. With any phone, i see it as paying $60 for this application, something other than water damage occurs and I get the phone replaced. If I understand this right, now I have to get this application done again for another $60 because my replacement is a different phone.
If not already, this company should be selling their technology to the OEM. I think the Moto Droid Razr already has this or something similar.
I know many of you will disagree, but this is just plain "gimmicky". I would only consider this if I didn't pay for monthly insurance. I am 10x more likely to drop and break the phone than I am to get water damage. I think most people are.
According to their own terms of use, they only warrant/guarantee that they will apply the coating, not that it will work.
Does anyone reading here work at a cell phone store who can say what the most common reason for a replacement is? I'd be curious.
I wish I didn't have such a perfectionist mind and be crazy about the smallest imperfections, but really HTC, you need to get your **** together. I upgraded to the Evo3D because I had replaced my Evo4G screen 2 times already because of issues with dust and had my hopes very high that by upgrading to the 3D I might finally be able to avoid the problem. Little did I know, I was mistaken. I lurked for many days for some insight into the whole dust situation before even buying the Evo3D and could only find rare occurences so I figured I should be fine. 2 Months later I have one spec of dust. I said okay, its small enough that maybe I can let this one go, but then today I noticed 5 pieces total. This is a quality control issue and I have tried going to the repair center for sprint and they said it was not covered under the TEP plan. What bull****, and HTC wont fix it either. I'm in no mood to fight this issue with them again that this is a manufacturing defect so I decided I'm going to leave the HTC scene. I really regret to even resort to this but I'm very heavily contemplating an iPhone 4, mainly because of the build quality, and the fact that the screens are all on top of one another, there are no open spaces between any of the sheets of glass, therefore there is no room for dust to squeeze its way in there.
If anyone has any way to get the dust out before I jump ship, or rip my head off, please give me some insight. I really love the android community, and it's been very good to me. Thanks in advance.

I only had this problem with my HERO. Got it replaced for free, no questions asked. Had the EVO 3D since launch-day. Not a single speck of dust under my screen. I'm not sure how people are doing this, but I'm beginning to think it's the way people treat their phones. The HERO I had was bought from a friend. I take VERY good care of all my phones, and never have these problems. I don't even use a case on my phone. At most, a matte screen protector.
But in all honesty, you probably should've sprung for the TEP plan. I recommend EVERYONE getting it. And if you get an iPhone, you CAN'T get it through Sprint. You'll have to buy Apple One Care, which I think turns out to be more expensive (I may be wrong).

Lifted it out ... after getting it super hot to make the adhesive gooey, right? I've actually built an EVO 3D from parts laying around, and other parts I ordered online. I don't recommend anyone else do this, it was brutal, but it works 100%.
The other big lesson I learned from ordering on-line: While the website may say: "Brand new parts" they may arrive and you find they are brand new, but did not actually pass quality standards in the factory! The 3D I built has tiny, hair-line scratches in the digitizer! Most time you never notice, but "Brand new parts" doesn't actually give you the full story.
Sorry, ranting here.

My phone has a dust spray on the bottom right corner. Been there since I bought. I'm living with it now since it's out of the way and doesn't usually bother me. But I agree that it's terrible that the phone was shipped this way. I do have Sprint TEP plan but been too lazy to go in.
I've had two HTC phones and do really like them but I'm moving to a Samsung next time for sure. Probably replace this before I buy a new one then sell it. HTC phones are beginning to all look too much the same. Time to move on.
I have the cheap $4 (not including the damage loss) TEP but:
1) I don't want to lose my 1.4 bootloader and get a lousy reman unit.
2) since a bunch of updates (thanks, freeza), it has stopped rebooting at random, which was the only reason I got TEP in the first place
I fear that blowing air in the left side (headphone jack) might move the forest (presently in the upper right) downward, not just rightward. I'm tempted to cancel the TEP and just break it open for a proper cleaning.
I think this was a qc issue. My old evo was 100% clean under the screen. This 3d, after fewer months in the same environment) looks like a freaking dryer vent.
Well Today I dropped my Rezound, That was in an Otter Box Defender case, from my pocket to concrete.... To my surprise when i picked it up, the screen was glass was cracked. Is it me, or are screens getting weaker and weaker. I mean this is the first time i ever broke a screen on a phone, and it was easy... I've had Droid 1's, 2's, X's, X2, and 3's as my past phones, and i never manged to scratch that screen, and i never used screen protectors or cases on them, and this HTC phone breaks while it is in a case...
Well enough ranting, I ordered a new digitizer from Amazon and i was woundering if any of you guys have replaced a screen on this phone, and if it is difficult to do.

The way I understand it is if your filing a claim, its because something that is not covered by the 1 year manufactures warranty went wrong with the phone, I.E water damage, broken screen etc.. So I don't think replacing a screen would void the Asurin warranty.
Also I don't think they really pay attention to the defected devices they receive.

I've known people who dealt with them and with other companies on similar issues, and they approached it by telling them that they were very dissappointed to be in this situation because before that, they believed in the product. And if they had been a long time customer, while being polite and courteous, and many of them got assistance from the company in covering the cost of repair parts.
Just take a look at this Video and cry with me. I dropped it from an about one meter high table in my university - on carpet. Well, now it looks kinda greenish, and the colors are all effed up. Sometimes there are more colors, sometimes less (depending on the way I bend and twist my prime).
No warranty will cover this. But maybe I can fix it? If yes, how?
Edit: I've attached the wallpaper used for your reference
Appears the screens ribbon cable came loose. You see the same thing when a PC'S monitor cable comes loose from the video card. You could take it apart and fix it but that should be covered under warranty just don't say you dropped it.
Did you get ADH coverage? It covers drops and screen damage. If not maybe look into square trade?
FYI, I had a roocase executive cover on my tab when it dropped from my dresser to carpeted floor and it protected perfectly.

Cool story bro.
You know what I'm sick of? Idiots that complain about the Prime all the time. If you're unhappy with it sell it and get an iPad.
shoulda got square trade accidental on it..
Before you start to brea-- err.. I mean, "open" your TP, take a look at the following TP teardown link:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/5286/asus-eee-pad-transformer-prime-teardown
This'll give you an idea of what to expect and how best to disassemble with any hope of successful reassembly.
One important quote from that site, "... You'll need a heat gun to warm up the glue to get the bottom to pry apart. Proceed at your own risk, while I was able to put the Prime back together after all of this there's a high risk of damaging your beauty..."
all op needs to due is look at Erusman teardown thread or Buxthda links in signature. there's already videos made here by members on how to do it. Heat gun wasn't needed. Anandtech teardown is still good to look at though to know where everything is at once you open it up. its actually pretty easy to disassemble and assemble again. Just don't go rushing it.

Cool story bro.
You know what I'm sick of? Idiots that complain about the Prime all the time. If you're unhappy with it sell it and get an iPad.

You know what everyone is sick of.... their Prime not working properly. Oh except for you, who either got a glowing bit of perfection from asus while the rest of us got the normal prime, OR you are such an extreme fanboy that you are denying it's failures to yourself.
Oh, and I hate apple with a passion and just WANT AN ALTERNATIVE!
Am I unhappy with my prime? No, it is a great device for SOME uses/users. I just want the device that they promised.

You're just not worth it. See ya.
Amidst the flames a few rise to actually help lol j/k, but really, play nice everyone
Yeah, fixing the cable will be covered under warranty, not the crack though. And I'm not sure if they'd just fix the cable placement and let you get it back with the cracked screen or try and charge you for a full front-assembly replacement. I'm sure you could talk them into fixing just the cable though.
If you're within 90 days of purchase, try getting SquareTrade just in case, you could fix it and still get it replaced at a more convenient time in the future. Fixing it yourself would only take a matter of minutes, you can follow my signature to my compilation of Erusman's thread if you feel like trying. I just wonder how that cracked corner will act actually separating the two halves to do the fix, it'll likely be fine. Try a screen-protector if the glass seems actually loose or if the crack annoys you.
Thanks for the advice, guys. Unfortunately squaretrade never was an option for me, since it is not available where I live. I'll try to talk them into just fixing the cable.

What type of Gorilla glass do they use on the Prime?
Gorilla glass 1... What difference does it make. One is 0.8 mm thick another is 1 mm. Apart from that they're pretty much identical

Hey All,
Before going any further, I just wanted to acknowledge that there are other threads out there regarding this issue. However, none of them have indicated any contact with HTC. That said, I called HTC today because I noticed that I too have a slight bend to my phone. I have never dropped this thing and always keep it in my front pocket. I feel that our phones should hold up to everyday things..... like being in front pockets or in small backpack compartments. For the EVO LTE, this seems to not be the case.
When I called HTC, I spoke to a floor supervisor who told me this was the first he has ever heard of this issue. I think it behooves us to let HTC know that although not all are having issues with their phones bending, there are members of the community who, through very little fault of their own, have bent phones. In order to have HTC rectify this matter, it may be best for all of us to contact HTC and file reports/complaints. I had my issue escalated today, but the representative told me that not much may come out of it since this was the first he has heard of this.
Let me know what you guys think.
Good call on contacting them. I have no issue with this yet, but certainly would contact them if I did.
Maybe change the thread title to something that indicates you want people to contact HTC, or many will groan and not even open this thread.

So you have no case on it? The phone does seem very fragile and bendable. I have had an Otterbox defender on mine since day 1 so I haven't experienced any bending myself.

I have a case on it. I understand why you would ask, but the product shouldn't bend just because it doesn't have a case. Scratches without a case, definitely. Bending? Definitely a design flaw.

I for one had it bend. But I know that if I were to call up HTC and say hey you guys shoulda known this issue and addressed it, they would either laugh at me and say have a nice day or, act like they've never ever had the issue nor heard of it and say its just your imagination or see to your doctor to change pills, or even say nothing we can do as its all how you as the customer treated your device. I would be shocked to ever hear anything come out of HTC as saying oops were sorry. Especially since the on going battle of source is still ensuing. Best case scenario, just buy a good case and move on with life.

The wheels on one of my cars are more susceptible to bending than others. I can't imagine ever having the self-entitled thought of being owed compensation due to my negligence as the owner and operator.
But I haven't bent any wheels because I know they need a smidge more care than others just like you knew the Evo does.

That's a horrible analogy. He stated in the main post that he has never dropped the thing AND he has a case on it. He takes care of it just as you do your non-forged wheels, and yet it's still bent. This translates to manufacturers defect, and he is owed a replacement. Bending is not wear and tear, that's design flaw.

Actually he doesn't mention having a case on it and he also insinuates that he put the phone in his back pocket. Regardless it doesn't hurt to contact HTC.
I think HTC needs to hear about this as much as possible, after reading all the threads about this, and noticing that mine is "warped" (twisted a little from corner to corner) it seems like a huge design flaw. Hopefully they take it into account when designing their next phone.

Mine is no longer straight when sighted lengthwise in the same axis as volume buttons. It has a bend right between the red stripe and the volume buttons. The bend is also present on the opposite side of the phone. I have a case on it and never put it in my back pocket.
I have applied a very small amount of force using my fingers after noticing this and can make the phone flex quite easily.

mentions having a case on it in post #4, also mentions in the first post he keeps it in his front pocket, same as me and a bunch of other people in the forum

Yea I love the phone, I've never owned one so fragile though. It's always in the otterbox commuter case and I use the seidio active holster, i'm afraid of putting it in my pocket.

I totally understand that we are cynical. However, this doesn't make it right. The relationship between a consumer and a producer is based somewhat off of reputation. We bought these phones, and not a cheap iphone clone or a knockoff of some other brand because we expected these to be reliable. I don't expect HTC to bend to our will, but they should at the very least look into this.

Thanks to all of you who actually took the time to read the post and not just jump to conclusion. If this is actually something you care about, call HTC and let them know whats up. Have the issue escalated and get a case number. They will not do ANYTHING about this flaw for us, or for future phones if they are not aware it exists.

I'm wondering if some of these phones were built with a weak spot while others were not. I have never dropped my phone or put it in my back pocket, bit I do keep it cased (tpu) in a separate zippered compartment in my purse. I take it in and out of there all the time. I would think this is worse than a man's front shirt pocket, yet mine is not bent at all. I've had it since launch. I absolutely think HTC should be contacted and I would argue that it is a manufacturing defect.

How tight are you guy's pants? I have had this phone since it released. Very seldom use my case since I love the slim design and I haven't had this issue. I keep the phone in my front pocket. I honestly don't see how this is possible with no user influence.

So I wear really tight skinny jeans and am about to get this phone, is it a bad idea?
