OK so I will start off with the problem and since I am making this thread I will add some info about my tablet as well including WiFi numbers.
I have had my prime for 2.5 days now and I took it out of the dock today to play some games and I noticed this......

If you look at the edge of the screen you can clearly see that the aluminum has bent from opening the dock I presume. I am super careful with my electronics so it isn't from abuse I also made sure it was locked when I docked it. It wasn't like that when I got it because I remember the post where that piece was broken on one of the latch points so I checked the bottom out thoroughly.
This concerns me as it seems to be quite a bit of strain there and what if it actually breaks, and what about the strain on the connector inside for longevity's sake!
Now on to the rest of my tablet.
It has the usual GPS issue I haven't tried it outside but even next to a window it sees no satellites. the internal vibrator works when I turn it on (long vibrate) but when touching buttons it does the click (on short vibrates) I can kind of get it to act normal if I repeatedly touch a button. Maybe because the vibrator is sort of moving still???
I haven't tried Bluetooth yet but I probably wont ever use Bluetooth on it I might get around to trying that yet.
Light bleed is almost no existent, there are 2 tiny spots on the right on the screen but nothing to cry over especially living with my amaze (the button on the bottom cause horrific light bleed)
It also seems than on the screens in setting where there is supposed to be black to gray gradients there are groups of lines with pink or green hues it is quite annoying I took a screen shop and it shows up fine on my PC
WiFi seems to work well here are my findings I tested all my devices in my room where my PC is as well as in my living room both roughly 20 feet from router, both through 2 wall and in opposite directions from my router.
Averages over 3 tests each.

PC 25ms 14 Mbps Down 0.45 Mbps up
HTC Amaze 42ms 9.5 Mbps Down 0.6 Mbps up
Laptop 28ms 15 Mbps Down 0.4 Mbps up

Laptop 30ms 16 Mbps Down 0.42 Mbps up

Are you sure you had the latches set to lock when you had it in the dock? I do see where its bent. Excessive pressure was put the center. does the other 2 hole look bent any also?
A while ago I bought and exchanged a couple Microsoft ZuneHDs because they had this defect on the charging port (it looked identical to your pic).

I'm positive it was latched properly. the other 2 are fine, they are thicker though.
Has anyone who has a dock noticed this happening as well?

I have had mine in and out of my dock probably 50 times or more and mine looks nothing like the picture.
I have put mine in and out of a dock for the biggest part of the 2 days I have it, and its slightly malformed, not that much as yours.
I dont see it getting worse on mine though.

even slightly malformed doesnt sound good, it would be worth people keeping an eye on this.

+1 Mine is in and out of the dock all day long. Open and closed many times in a day moving from meeting to meeting and back to my office where I put it on a tablet stand next to my laptop screen out of the dock. While I am careful with my gear, I have always just opened and closed it like I would a laptop or netbook. My shows no deformation whatsoever. I just took it out to check and looks like the day I received it. Sorry to hear this on your prime!

OK so I got this at my BBY.
Callpod FuelTank UNO
It works pretty darn good (especially with the HTC adapter that has ports for charging,3.5mm,2.5mm)...I stream from Flycast and Pandora almost 90% of the time in the car so battery drains pretty fast on 3G).
My battery doesnt dip below 93-95%.
SO my question is, will using this HURT the G1 in any way? And if anyone else has tried it....I paid $40 for it....it was this or the USB PowerStick.

I had $50 of best buy money got it one for $40. Completely solves battery problem without ever having to buy a new extended battery w/ larger cover. I doubt it will damage the phone. I've used it so far and nothing has happened. It's probably the same as buying a non standard wall charger, yeah there is a small risk but nothing is likely to ever happen.
I HIGHLY recommend one to solve the battery issue on G1. It is easily the best purchase I've made in years at Best Buy. (I never buy anything at best buy their products suck) It can charge the phone ~3 times for one Call Pod Uno Charge. Call Pod charges rather quickly in 2-3 hours. The call pod Uno is the exact same size as a G1 in height and thickness, I consider that rather small for the boost it gives. It can fit in a pocket if you had to since its the same size as a g1 phone, but you probably wouldn't want to on a regular basis. The Call Pod Uno has a feature that will tell you how much charge it has left by indicator lights that light up, and it will shutdown automatically when nothing is charging in it. It comes with a dongle cable to charge an Iphone or G1, and you get one free cable for any other device from their website with a redeemable coupon.
My only annoyance so far is that the cables they give you are somewhat short so you can't twist the Call Pod around and maneuver it to a better position when charging. Also the cables seem cheap. Finally, don't look at the picture on the box it looks nothing like what the actual product looks like. The picture makes it look black it's silver and the lights aren't as intense as the picture makes it seem. If the color was black and not silver it would be better. Also, the case it comes with sucks.
Think about it though an Iphone charger alone is ~$20 and an g1 charger is too. This includes a g1 charger and the battery and the dongles for only $40. Although it's expensive you get your moneys worth if you think about it that way.
Here:
Pic when you hit button to light it up to see charge two lights indicate half charge.

Yup...thats it!!!!
The pouch is pretty, well, weird, to me. Wish I had it close by to take a pic of it.....
I did notice on mine the cable says TOP on the head of it, but you plug it in with TOP facing the bottom....this makes my G1 sit face up and the Fueltank back up...

Well if you read above. Bestbuy.
Well I will be returning mine, possibly exchange it but not sure, maybe just get my money back...looking up reviews now....
Today i had it plugged in and removed the plug, put the Callpod in my cup holder, than noticed that the connection on the phone was a bit off center, just enough to where the connection wont go in so i can power the phone.
i eventually knocked it (by tapping the unit on my hand) back into place, i can hear a piece of broken plastic moving around inside...it will charge the phone still but if you just touch it it will turn on and off repeatedly..
hopefully its just a faulty unit ( Like i said before, i did notice that the connection was in upside down).
Hope Best Buy has a good return policy because I cant find my receipt.
I would perfer something like this, but as a holster.
I posted a thread a while ago (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554057) about it but I guess it lost its popularity. It's basically the same thing only it's also a holster as well that clips onto your belt or whatever. Pretty neat idea I think.
i like this i saw it on a friends iphone and think it would really cool to have 1 for our phones i vote on it

I've noticed that whenever I'm downloading one of the fine ROMs we have for our phone over my data connection, I can get it done more than twice as fast if I set my phone vertically (like in a cup or resting against something) than if I were to either hold it vertically or set it horizontally in a desk.
I'm pretty sure this is just a limitation of how cell phone technology works, but if you're needing to download something quickly you might want to give this a shot.
I'm able to reach roughly 1.2mb/s on the cell tower near my home while doing this. The pic above's just an example, it's difficult to take a screenshot when your phone is resting against a monitor (This speed is twice as fast as my home DSL connection which is capped at 150gb/mo, also through AT&T -_-) If I were to just hold the phone or simply set it on my desk these speeds plummet to around 200-300kb/s, max.
One theory I have though is we have a ton of pine trees in our area, so this may be disrupting the signal and polarizing it vertically, but don't quote me on this as I'm no where near educated enough to make this call.
get it? no? okay I'll leave now.
Edit: Oh, I've got to note that I'm in the middle of no where when it comes to a cell signal, so getting better download speeds than the only high-speed internet company available at my house is rather awesome. Sprint doesn't get a signal out here, so my brother's using an Airvana system our or DSL making it even slower.
You want fast? Get a Wilson amp for your house.
Yeah, that makes sense - polarization can make quite a big difference. What's best varies from location to location though.
I have been tethering for 5 years (90% which was my main internet) and I found holding it does make a difference.
Don't have a scientific explanation, but I know for a fact it does.
Not sure about the way I point it, never tried that but usually moving it from my stomach to my hand (laying in bed) will double the speeds...sounds crazy I know.
Reminds me of the issues with FM radio Reception.
Every time you touch the antennae, the station came in great.
Let the antennae go and it's back to bad reception.
Kinda defeats the whole adjustment procedure.
Or holding the car Key remote beneath your chin to get more "door lock" distance.
Inquiring minds want to know.
Hah that's crazy you mention the car key thing...someone at work was talking about that today. First time I've heard of it.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
Yup - Your body WILL affect the pattern of any nearby antennas! Sometimes for the better, sometimes worse.
Usually worse at cell phone frequencies, sometimes for the better for FM (lower frequency, wavelength longer than humans are tall.)

I learned something new today, thanks.
Ah, the joys of inductive coupling. Somewhat related to sympathetic resonance (aka sympathetic vibrations).
I will hold my phone in any which manner I please TYVM

Just the idea that you understand RF polarization exists puts you beyond the typical user.
On the other hand, now I'm going nuts with google trying to figure out what polarity GSM signals typically use. My first guess would be vertical, but its only a guess...
So far so good. I actually turned on my bluetooth radio and my wifi speeds were the same. First time I've seen this happen on multiple tablets. I also switched from the gray to the other color champagne. I actually like this lighter color better, but it will be in a case anyway. So far so good. No bleed, no dead pixels. I don't care about the GPS, but I ran that GPS test software anyway. Inside I connected to 8 birds in about 10 seconds or less. That is also something I never had. By the way, this is a C2 serial. The only thing I was told by Asus was this tablet was specifically tested and used prior to me getting it. I can tell it was, a couple small finger prints and a charged battery. So far so good, I hope it lasts!

Do you have a bluetooth speaker, or something to pair it to and transfer data while trying your speedtests?
Mine will be going in for this in the near future and I want to know that it does actually work on some units.
I can turn on bluetooth, and even pair it without really any change in wifi performance. As soon as you transmit to a speaker though it plummets to 400k or less.
Thats awesome. Got mine back last Friday still cant use wifi and bloothooth together and no GPS. C10 was shipped.
Got my tested one back from them and it had major dust and dead pixels from them... They didn't remove that plastic cover when they tested...
Gps worked good indoors on par with my EVO 3d
WiFi was decent
I don't use Bluetooth
But I am returning for a refund both tablet and dock to asus gonna get me a snapdragon tablet instead or maybe a ps vita idk yet maybe just an ultrabook
To much to choose from....
Idk if a tablet is really needed for me... A new phone would do it... Sprint needs to hurry up and release something!

Lol I remember you going crazy for this tablet before release. Too bad they returned you a bad unit. But hey, now you know tablets aren't right for you yet.
I'm glad I didn't jump on the evo3d (after loving the evo 4g)...I ended up waiting and getting the sgs2e4gt and couldn't be happier. So if you REALLY need a new phone, maybe get that one lol

I sent them a nasty email complaining about the "waiting to Repair" status and in 3 hours they had a new serial number ready to ship...should be here tomorrow, within 48 hours of my email being sent, so complaining seems to motivate them.
I had a BCOK but they are sending me a C2O, hopefully it works well.
Has anyone noticed how the metal right under the glass that is the case for the charging port bends mine was warped a bit but I noticed I bent it back straight. I check more and noticed its caused by plugging in the charger into the Asus prime and if you move it back and forth it will bend the metal casing and could crack the screen is anyone else having this problem? I'll post a picture when I get home to show what's happening and what others should look out for. This could be really bad.
Yes, mine is bent down but I can bend it back up to insert the charger. Very weak piece of metal there.
same here.
me too.
I caught myself holding the TFP one handed with my thumb right over the charging port. I figured that is what caused the warping.
Mine came bent brand new out of the box.
Add me to the list of a bent case. Scared me half to death because what made me realize that the case was bent was because my screen looked like it popped out. Which made me immediately think that I would have to add myself to the "cracked screen thread." However, I was able to snap the screen back into place except for the part near the power port....which is when I noticed that the metal was bent up and in causing the screen to to snap back into place. So I did the best I could to re-position the metal and the screen seemed to snap back in (not as tight as the rest of the tablet).
Not sure how the metal got bent since I have never dropped it (knock on wood). I do keep it in my brief case, and there may be a possibility that it got jammed somehow (even though I have it in a nice case).
I think it just gets bent frm doing the one handed holding thing like me and a few others that i have read about on here or it could be because of bending the charger. More and more stuff i keep finding out crap. I love this device but man seems that no one tested the damn thing.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500554
Aluminum is just so soft, it shouldn't be a surprise when a piece less than 1 MM thick gets bent. As you can see in the thread, I've even purposefully bent it, several times. Nothing is hurt by it. I don't think it will ultimately hurt the screen or anything, I suppose if you tried breaking your power cord off into it or something.
I haven't noticed it on mine but I keep the little plastic piece in it when its not on the charger to protect it from dust/damaging the port. I have a case so I don't even notice it being there when in use.
That's what i think too .

Mine didn't crack from the charger but it gradually began to get bent since i keep 90% of the tablet docked to the keyboard. Even the rubber/padding in the dock is rubbing/melting off and sticking to the tablet. Yeah, I'm guilty of opening and closing the tablet like it was a laptop so which is why im sure it became like that.
I thought the port was cracked due to the keyboard was more of the problem than it is but it turns out its just the tablets fault. Thanks for the post, at least im not the only one.
Mine has cracked through.
I almost got a hearth attack when i first saw mi prime like that haha.
Then I looked a bit closer, and found out that the whole Prime was bent like a bow! including the screen. I just bent it back with little force and it is back like new. I'm extra careful now when applying any kind of pressure to the tablet.
I guess that's the price for having a whole Alu case... but I think the border of the tablet should be made of something way more resistant than just Alu.
I've had it bent since the day I bought the prime. Always thought it was an esthetics thing.

Me too. Came that way out of the box. Figured it was meant to be that way since it was shipped like that.
I work at the Asus RMA repair center in grapevine TX pretty much exclusively on the tf101, tf201, 300t and sl101. I see these things bent above and around the charging port all the time. Hell, we have techs that bend it themselves when they are servicing the tablet. It's a bad design flaw.

The task bar and anything that is suppose to be black on my screen has turned red. Even the boot screen is red. I took my Prime to the pool (not even close to the water) and I was playing games while watching the kids swim. I played a little Modern Conflict then went for a swim and my son kept playing for me. He put it down on the chair face up. Not really in direct sunlight. When we left I put it in it's sleeve and when I got home and took it out of sleep the task bar was red. I rebooted and the boot screen was red. Turned it off for a while but it's still red.
Anyone?????????????
Edit - I was so pissed last night I didn't explore this much. I opened my browser this morning and on yahoo's home screen all the areas that are suppose to be white are a sky blue color. This is also the way the stock e-mail app looks as well. ARRRRRGGGGGGAAAAAAHHHHHHHH
That's really weird... Just curious, if you take a screen shot, send it to your email and look at it on another device, is it red or black? Probably black, as I'm thinking it's a hardware issue, but just wondering. Really very odd though...
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA Premium.
Thanks Steve,
I transfered a screenshot to my PC and shows the black normal. Appears to be a hardware issue if the software is rendering the proper colors while creating the screenshot. I guess I'll have to venture into RMA hell.
I have not tried a full factory reset yet. Getting all my data backed up first. Pushing the reset button does nothing.
EDIT - Pictures added
Here are some pictures I took with my phone since screenshots render properly. The first picture is how my home screen used to look like. The rest are of the problem.

That looks like it is probably hardware damage but it might be worth trying a factory reset before going the RMA route. It could be a problem with drivers that might be resolved by a reset.
Factory reset did not work. Going to RMA
did you drop the prime at all? or something fell on it or bumped it really hard? maybe something with the display connector is loose.

Not that I know of. My son treats my stuff good so I don't think he droped it. I'm in the process of RMAing it and hopefully it won't take too long.
maybe caused by a magnet????? just like in old tvs if you put a magnet clse to the screen ir messes up all the colors.
No, no magnets on a plastic lawn chair. LoL
Put it in the sleeve at the pool. Set it in the car where I always do. Took it out when I got home and set it on the dining room table. Woke it up about 30 minutes later to check e-mail and that is when I noticed the red. Rebooted with no help. RMA in progress.
I have noticed something since this has happened. Before, when I'd play games or surf heavily the back of my Prime would get warm right where the SoC is located. I've also been having random shutdowns when playing THD games. I think my NVIDIA chip may be messed up. Now the thing runs really good and it doesn't get warm anymore. I've not had any shutdowns since this happened. Maybe something in one or all of the GPU's was messed up to begin with and now that it fried it runs better. I know that sound crazy but I've seen chips do some strange things in the past (I work in the semiconductor industry).
Anyway, hopefully ASUS will replace my motherboard because I don't think it's software related.
Just sent my Prime in for repair. I'll report back what they find just in case you are interested or develop the same problem.
Crazy lol
Yeah, I'd say that's definitely an issue with the GPU. Loose cable could be it, but you usually don't see distortion like that if that's the case. That sucks, hopefully you'll get it back fixed.
Sorry I didn't report back sooner but I RMA'd it and it came back fixed. Total RMA time was a little over a week.
I'll have to send it back soon because I don't think the tech that did the repair connected my rear camera back good enough because I now have the green lines on the camera issue and also my charging brick died the other day. Just another day is Prime paradise I guess.
My Prime has been in RMA for a week now. Had the same problem (and many more) as yours, with the blacks turning red. Hopefully I'll be getting mine back soon then as well.
