Hi, thanks for such a detailed vid!
For some strange reason tho, I'm having trouble with novacom. Been searching around for the past 4 hrs & it seems novacom doesn't do too well on Win 7 64bit machines??? Anybody know a workaround for this??

I did my video on a Win 7 64 bit machine. It worked fine....multiple times over. What type of problem are you having?

Nice guide

I finally got it Reverend. I wasnt seeing the device under device manager no matter how many times I installed novacom. Initially I installed the entire sdk, then I dloaded the universal installer, but I made one crucial mistake......... Restart after doing the install, as soon as I restarted the laptop, bootie showed up in device manager.
Thanks again, ur tutorial was awesome! Running xron quite fine now

Rooting Tbolt - Win XP, Win7 or Ubuntu 11.10?

So I just picked up a new Tbolt, sealed in the box. Has not been activated yet.
I am going to root it and have rooted many Dinc, Evos etc with Unrevoked, but I have never been able to obtain root on windows and always have used Linux (Ubuntu 10.04)
Should I stick with Ubuntu (now on 11.10 but can revert as its a spare computer) or is it better to use the current revolutionary with Windows?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance

I am definitely using Revolutionary, but they offer it for Windows and Linux, that what I am up in the air about... which did you use? and what version of Windows or Linux did you use?
Also, I see you are running Infected... looks pretty sick and has good feedback...is that the first ROM you would suggest flashing?
Thanks
Worked fine on windows 7 64-bit for me.

Cool. I will give it s try on my win 7 laptop then....
Thanks for feedback

Worked on both win 7 64bit and Vista 64bit.

Ok, I will give Win 7 64 bit a try.
One more question:
Does it matter if I root before I activate the phone?
I have rooted in past before activation, but this is my first 4g LTE phone, so not sure with the SIM card and all that.
Thanks
Revolutionary works fine on Vista as well
Sent via my HTC Rezound using XDA premium app.
I've used Windows 7 64bit and Ubuntu 11.04/11.10 and revolutionary worked well on both. I would activate the phone before you root. No real reason, its just my opinion.
Damn... I was gonna root before but I will wait. It's a Christmas present to myself so I was planning in opening up a rooted phone...but I guess ill have have all Xmas day to do that after the kids pass out from excitement
Hehe
Thanks for advice...very much appreciated

Just got the bolt from best buy mobile. I traded my Dinc2 for this. I only paid $2 for it with trade in. They updated the phone to android 2.3.4 , can I still root it with revo tool even though it has been updated.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Yes... On of the mods on the irc revolutionary Chanel verified that for me today. He said it will work on any Android version, but hboot needs to be 1.04 or 1.05

I rooted my wife's phone via Revolutionary on Gentoo (~amd64) a couple weeks ago. She was already at the latest OTA release. For the most part it worked fine. I did have to manually download and install ClockworkMod (somethng was hardcoded that broke on Gentoo). Overall it was a painless process.

Works fine except for installing packages, ubuntu version is old and no more mantained, and tried an upgrade procedure with update-manager -d and didn't work.
Yay, exactly what I have been waiting for. But for the life of me, I can't seem to download the file. Can you upload it to multiupload.com or something?
Will be testing this when i get home! What version of ubuntu is it running? Might even be able to use it for completely replacing my laptop. Need something i can program on, and this might be the ticket!

That may be the best idea for a Nexus tablet announcement I've ever heard. Announcing the first official Google Nexus Tablet, typically great specs, with a great dock/keyboard, and the announcement of an android app Android SDK.
This, plus some really nice plug & play style USB port usage would make for a killer announcement.
I would recommend VNC Viewer, it is $10 but it works much much better than android-vnc-viewer. About 2-3 times smoother than in the videos.

Right now it errors saying "bash: ./eclipse: cannot execute binary file" (Google says that means you have the wrong version. ex 64 on 32 machine).

An ftp server running on android should work fine. There are several in the Market.

Help me out please

I've had this 3d for about 2 months. Trying to root it fir the past month. Countless hours and I still can't root it. It is running the latest ruu and had the famous 1.50 hboot. I followed the HTC unlock bootloader instructions to a t. I keep getting stuck on waiting for device in command prompt when I'm in USB bootloader. I've reinstalled the drivers and everything. One thing I noticed was that my abd file u move to the android folder is significantly smaller than what the screenshot shows. I think mines lime 130 kb and the one they show is like 400 something kb. Could that be the problem? Or cause I'm running windows vista? And where can I find the solution to this? I've searched for hours

Sorry in advance for my noobiness but.....
I have a 64 bit windows 7 computer, I was trying my best on my own to get it to work but to no avail.
Do i have the wrong set up for moonshine?
Yes kp stated you need fo run linux not windows or mac. I tok am on wondows so im also at a loss on how to get it working

what else did you guys do to do this, didi you install Fastboot or adb or anything. if so can someone help me out.
Download ubuntu and just run it off the disk and flow the directions on the moonshine site it's really easy. I'm already running sence 5 custom Rom lol
Is there any way I'd be able to do this without accessing BIOS, because I installed a new graphics card on my computer, and ever since, I can't get into BIOS.
It just skips over the loadup screen and goes straight to windows while it's turning on. I suppose I could actually plug it into the onboard, then boot it up from there, although whenever I do that I have to remove my graphics card or else it won't work. Ugh, any simpler solutions?

Windows 8 does not see DNA once in bootloader mode

I am running windows 8.1. my computer will show phone as an adb device but when I boot into bootloader it says it is not a recognized usb device. I have loaded and unloaded tons of drivers and am having no success. I think this started after I tried to flash a new asop rom, I was stuck in voice roaming. In the process of RUU the bootloader says locked but I can still flash recoveries and roms. Some how I have data back also. Bootloader says s-off with a 1111111 cid. Not sure what happened or what to do now. any help is greatly appreciated

I have read more stuff this weekend than I have in 10 years. cant believe no one can fix this. that's why I finally posted here.
You can go into your PC settings and reboot with the driver checks disabled to install the win 7 drivers.. However on my Acer laptop the keyboard doesn't work to choose the setting in the UEFI. For whatever stupid reason... but it might work for you..
If you go to PC settings search for "advanced startup" you can reboot with the check disabled to install the drivers.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk
As far as I know it's simply because the HTC Drivers are not supported under Windows 8 ... The post above sounds promising, but I've never tried it before ... It's a PIA for sure and thinking either installing Windows 7 or Ubuntu just to get fastboot support is ridiculous.. Maybe we need to get with HTC on this? Windows 8 has been out long enough.. they need to support it with fastboot drivers.. right?
I found this as well... haven't tried it yet..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2232799
Edit.. Well that didn't work.. didn't even attempt to install anything.. lol

I'm reading the steps and it's losing me big time.. Says steps 2-6 are specific to an intel USB 3.0 controller which I don't think I have.. so I skipped it.. still .. I think it's a dead end.. Still looking!!

Still no fastboot for Windows 8/8.1 that I can figure out.. always end up in device manager with a device that failed enumeration .. Thanks HTC!! Oh .. and when we try to use fastboot commands in command prompt, at least for me, just get "waiting on device" which will never come.. not without drivers.. and I even disabled driver signature checking.. At a loss for sure..

It's really not. I've been setting up all my computers to dual boot for at least 10 years. Haven't tried windows 8, but surely it's a pretty similar process. This guide is pretty much the same steps I've been taking http://apcmag.com/how-to-dual-boot-windows-8-and-linux.htm.
Or just make a bootable usb...
If you play around a lot with android phones, I really recommend Linux. It makes life so much easier. I'm currently running Elementary OS. I've been trying to get my wife used to it. I rarely boot windows anymore. My wife will reboot it to use photoshop or load new music on her ipod. But that's about it.
Another option is to run a Virtual Machine. I do this with Win7 and put XP inside. I have a proprietary program that does NOT run on Win 7. The system works very well.
Wow. All this really confuses me I'm running windows 8 and am having no problem with drivers or fastboot/adb..
I'm gonna poke around on my computer a lil bit, cuz at first I had a similar problem but eventually got it all figured out.. I'm not remembering right off hand exactly what I did..

I tried the elementary os on a flash drive and cd and windows 8 will not let either boot. I also chabged the bios to let each boot first. Mite try dual boot option. Have no trouble with my windows 7 lap top.
