Just been into Best Buy in the Hancock Center and played with their newly delivered TFP.
Two note worthy points:
It was pre loaded with ICS and it was the only tablet on display that couldn't connect to the Wireless network.

Yea, it doesn't have any WiFi problems at all....It's all fine and dandy until you try to use it away from your house with your above average router. This tablet will suck when it comes to weak signal hotel routers/coffee shop routers.

You should ask a Best Buy worker why it isn't connected to the Internet. I would love to hear an explanation. Could you try to connect yourself? Was there simply no wireless networks or they just didn't hook it up?
Did you try holding it up in the air above your head? That seems to help with getting a better Wifi and GPS reception. It might have connected then.

Mine connects fine to multiple WIFI hotspots, including my G2X and at least one public WIFI (it's the only one I've tried). In fact at that public WIFI the Prime connected and downloaded the ICS update and my phone wouldn't connect at all.
Well what the pics show are my TFP getting downstream speeds of 34.8mbps and My laptop getting 28mbps.

Seriously, it could easily be that it simply wasn't configured for the network. I just returned from Best Buy and it was hit or miss whether a tablet had a connection. Some did, some didn't.

I often have to ask them to connect a tablet to the internet. I was considering several models before I found out about the prime and Best Buy was a pretty good place to go to sample and play. Many times most tablets did not have an internet connection until I asked. Sometimes they would moan and groan and somebody would finally come by that knew how. It was like a corporate secret that not all sales associates were qualified to have. Quite funny actually. Finally turned the hotspot on my phone and just handled it myself.

My Prime has a better signal/range then my HTC Sensation.. why aren't there all over the internet people *****ing about that device? Oh, yeah, that's right. They have normal expectations.
I had the same issue at Best Buy. They had 1 prime in stock which was a return. After about 30 minutes of waiting for a manager to unlock the cabinet so I could look at it, the first thing I did was try and connect to their WIFI with no luck. So the guy tells me they have a better hidden network he can connect it to. After about 10 minutes of failure he gave up. It had a very weak signal but just got stuck on obtaining IP address. All their other tablets were running fine on their network. The tablet is great looking and feels solid but needless to say I left it for the next unsuspecting customer.

If im gonna count the amount of demos that dont work at best buy then every computer is garbage, ive been using my prime since december and when at my job I use my nexus s as a portable hotspot and have no problem.
I dont understand the obsecion that people has with making negative post about the prime, i took advise, I went to a BMW forum and and wrote SH******T about that car even thought i dont own one
PS: I have to stop reading this forum im becoming A TROLL and that is bad for my health

I spent 20 mins trying to get it to even show the Best Buy wireless with no luck. Every other tablet was connected.
The sales guys didn't know what to say or do about it. I told them about the bad WiFi and they were all like "Oh no! Its supposed to be better than the old Transformer!"
They had litterally only put it on display about 2 hours before I got there. The back was scratched to hell too!

My Sensation gets a great WiFi signal. I even made a YouTube video to prove it. I walk two levels above my router and to the complete other side of the house and still get 25mb/s download speeds. I don't know what else you can expect from a phone.

Where's the scroll function on the mouse pad?
How is this not a default included function with the prime. They could have least added it as one of the feaatures added following the keyboard update.
Nothing below the horizontal line on the mouse pad (that suppose to represent the left and right-click) work at all. I have to rely on the center tap for left click and still no right-click function.
Again, not having no mouse pad scroll is pretty ridiculous. Oh and I just noticed that there's no "Home key" which made jumping to the front of the line in your sentence easy.
and wtf is up with this lag when I'm typing. Wow ASUS, I'm going to give you the benefit of doubt and hope this is all cleared up once ICS launches.

If right-click has no meaning in Android then why the heck does holding down the your finger on touching the tablet usually initiates a right-click menu function?
oh and I forgot to mention that selecting text in a text box is still a ***** despite the adage of the mouse with the Dock keyboard. (it's hell trying to get those green arrows to pop-up on the touch screen, it's still next too impossible with the Dock)

Typing from the dock now.
All you have to do is click once where you want the little green arrows to come up in a text field and it comes up. I've had no problems with this at all.
I'm not too sure why right click doesn't act as a long press, to be honest. It is like the back arrow though, so I've already gotten used to hitting that to go back from somewhere. Either way, I like the docks added functionality.

I don't understand something. Why in the world would you buy a tablet and then try to use it like a laptop? If you can't adapt to using a tablet like a tablet, then return your prime and let someone else have a chance. I know quite a few people who are still waiting for their prime.

So, again, why in the world would you get the TF and intend it to use like a laptop? It's like getting a motorcycle intending to use it like a car.

your analogy is broken since a motorcycle is not advertised to transform into a car like the Transformer and Transformer Prime are advertised as tablets that easily double as a laptop/netbook.

I'm also another one having issues typing on this thing.
My issue is that occassionally the cursor will just jump to a differing place which means touch typing is out.
It's either me or a bug. Seeing as I've not seen anything posted about a similar bug I'm guessing I must be pressing somewhere when typing.
I'm slowing getting used to it however.
As for using this thing for casual typing. Thats why people buy a prime and not another tablet. It's for the keyboard so it so work flawlessly.
Its not going to replace a laptop anytime soon but for the casual forum post or note jotting it's fine.

You sound like my Mom when she used to tell me to eat all my veggies because there are starving people in China. I answered her, "What, are you going to send whatever I don't eat to them?!? Fine, send THIS..."
Seriously, unless you're supposing that a returned Prime is resold as new, then WTF are you talking about?
Another thought for right click...
I get the concept of not thinking about the prime as a laptop but one of the prime reasons (bad pun, I know) I got the prime was that ICS now has native VPN support for my Cisco ASA IPSec firewall and VMWare has an app for its virtual desktop product. I can now VPN in and pull up my Win7 desktop at work from anywhere in the world from a bada$$ tablet.
This is where the right click would come in handy. I know I can drop on a bluetooth or USB mouse, but I can still see the point of the right click feature without having to use an external device.
Will it be easy to adapt one way or the other, sure will, but I can still understand the question being asked.
Once you upgrade to ICS, go to Settings>ASUS customized settings>TOUCHPAD/MOUSE>Right button behavior and set it to Show Context Menu to get a right-click function. Other choice is to ack as Back Button.
You can also change the pointer from 'Mouse cursor mode' to act like a mouse, or Gesture mode to make it simulate dragging the screen as if with your finger.
This was already mentioned in one of the early ICS threads last night. I don't have a dock yet to try it, but I did get the ICS upgrade last night and it seems to be an improvement over HC.

I think that's because your hand brushes against the touch pad, acting like a click somewhere else, and moving the text input location. If you press the button on the keyboard above the 3, it deactivates the touch pad.

I've been vpn-ing my PC at home and at work for months now. I assure you, never once have I said to myself "well, gee, I wish there's a right click button". Again, I didn't buy this tablet intending to use it like a laptop. It only took me a day to adapt to it. The last time I touched my laptop was back in April or May.
Look, when the PC was first invented, I'm sure there were people who bought the PC thinking they could use it like a typewriter. Then when the laptop came out, I'm sure there were people who bought the laptop and then *****ed that it didn't feel like a PC. You're just continuing this trend of buying a motorcycle and then ***** to the world that it doesn't drive like a car.
And about the typing issue where your cursor appears to jump around randomly, it took me a whole 30 seconds to figure out to press the 4th button from the left top row to disable the touchpad.
With all the complaints coming from the new prime members, I'm starting to feel like advertising the hell out of the ipad2 again. People want to ***** about the keyboard option? That's ok, with the ipad 2, you won't even have to deal with this problem! Wanna ***** about how hard it is to put in and take out the microsdcard? Well, if you had gotten the ipad2 you wouldn't have had to deal with this issue at all. What's that? 1 USB port isn't enough for you? Well, if you had bought the ipad2 this issue would not have come up at all. What's that? You hate your life? Well, you should have been praying to st stephen!
Just bought a Prime from Local BB here in Yakima, WA. Four just arrived today in stock. 32GB grey. After a failed pre order prime BX serial. (see my open prime thread in sig) This was a C2. No Light bleed. WIFI works excellent. Only thing that didnt work was GPS. However, I was expecting this. (Not using this for traveling only bedtime / couch surf)
WIFI range on this thing matched with my kids iPad 2! I was able to get WIFI in areas where my BX never did. Plus i am actually pulling my full bandwidth. 30mbs / 5mbs. I tested every area of my house right along side my kids iPad 2. Same results! I am totally amazed and very happy!!
Modded prime with working GPS will be mounted permenant in my vehicle.
New C2 from BB with its sleekness will be my bedtime / couch toy!

There havent been any significant differences between the serial numbers. So you're good
There have been cases with other devices where they actually improved as new batches came out, but the primes have been consistantly good from the beginning. Even though this forum suggests otherwise. But you will only see the people with problems making posts so its really misleading.

yes he is serious but lets not get into that never ending debate. before we have to pull the poll up showing over 80% of prime owners are happy with their device. over 400 prime owners in xda voted that way. And Asus and CNet interview statement showing less than 1% of primes are defective/have been returned.
I do admit, there are some units with issues though Smile.
its a tired debate. for the most part, majority is past that and most primes seem to be performing fine one way or another.

as i said you will only see the people complaining in these forums... Go to an [insert random manufacturer] forum and you will find people complaining big time. If you hang around here all day and read every whine post you will get the feeling that every 2nd prime is broken There are units with issues as there always are when a new product gets released. That and people are just crazy sometimes. Look at ipad3 it got a little hot after playing some intense game for 3 hours and people start running back to the shop with it...

I am happy to hear your newest Prime is working so well. Did you get an identical one or did you change the color? I'm guessing 32g with the 540 price tag. I was keeping up with your GPS mod thread and I'm guessing you must be very excited to have a brand spanking new Prime that you can start something else on. Just kidding. I finally have my 6 week RMA adventure coming to an end and Asus is sending me a C30 unit delivering Friday by FedEx. Their doing an advance RMA for me and I am grateful for that. I'll do a thorough test on the weekend and let you all know
Just got a new C30 from Amazon today. I will be waiting on my refund from my BCO that sat in RMA for over a month before Asus offered me a refund.
I didn't have problems with wifi on the last one but this one is certainly at the same speeds as my laptop (very close to the router). GPS was non existent until I tried a GPS fix (Transformer Prime Test Build 2 - Google Specific No-SSL v3.1), GPS is still a work in progress, but I have hope (even if I have to mod it externally).
Very happy with this prime. The feedback you can't hardly feel but at least it doesn't rattle like my last one.

Get and Try app in market "GPS test" You can see how many birds are in view. I want to correct myself in original post. I said GPS didn't work as expected. It does work on this C2 tablet. However not very well. I get some birds in view. When I pull up google maps. It puts me like two or three houses down from where I actually live (indoors). Of course my phone is accurate within like 12feet (indoors). I haven't tried outdoors with this c2 yet.
Let us know about the C3.

You can take a screen shot by holding volume down & power at the same time. If you had a GPS problem yours would say 0 like mine.. and not change even outside clear view of the sky. I just use bluetooth2GPS between my Nexus though if I need it on the Prime so its no biggie to me personally but it sounds like yours is fine

I have got SGS1 for 2 years -> 999999 times download mode, rooted bricked and still alive without RMAs. This same for my nexus s -> Over 1 year and nothing....with asus ~5 months = 2 RMA and third is possible?
ehhh....
Sorry for my english.
edit.
Please move this thread to Q&A.

yeah...RMA but you are probably going to have problems with RMA since you have unlocked your bootloader. I had the same problem out of no where. i had it for 3 months, everything was good then bam green camera.... its a hardware issue, try to pinch the camera, it will work momentarily... i sent mine in last month on the 8th and i still havent gotten it back yet.
anyway good luck to you with your RMA since you are going to have to argue with them that it is a hardware issue... -.-
holy crap..... I will never buy asus again... tf101 -> tf201 -> nomore!

don't jump to conclusion like that =/
i don't know if you tried the TF101 but it was a GREAT device, everything on it worked great
i mean yes the TF201 is a little messed but they're trying to fix it
i think you should give it a try and talk to asus since this is such a common problem even for people with locked devices
and i don't know where you live but i live in Toronto and my RMA took less then a week from sending and me receiving it
U pay for RMA afer unlock?
I live in poland and the nearest service is in czech republic. I takes minimum 2 weeks for repair and resend to me.
Tf101:
1st RMA: light bleding, broken plastic back - 3 weeks.
2nd RMA: light bleeding, dust under screen, dust under camera glas, broken left side of metal "frame" - 2 weeks.
After that I sold my TF101
TF201:
1st RMA: light bleeding, weak wifi, dead gps, broken keyboard - 2 weeks.
2nd RMA: light bleeding, weak wifi, not dead gps ...after first rma gps was fixed but still very poor, reboots and ramdom restarts. - 5 weeks.
All issues fixed for one week... now camera is dead. Lol....rly I hate asus and both transformers. My next tablet will be from apple. Android is great but asus is the worst manufacturer, samsung is the same (no updates) and other are crappy.
Ok I called to asus at 2pm and they said that I should call to him again at 4pm becouse they need to contact withs czech srvice. Ok we will see what next...

Well seems like you're just really unlucky...
Other then the camera issue both my transformer works wonderfully
But i say if you want to go getan ip, then bye bye
Enjoy your ipad
Ok I called to asus ...and they said that repair will cost : 100€ and 40€ for transport. 140€.... no thanks :-(

there are other threads too mentioning this problem...
why dont you try squeezing your prime at/around camera...this seems to fix problem for some...
ya, i had same problem like u. already sent for RMA since 10 april... still in process. im getting tired with asus.
i also had tf101. sold after 3 weeks =,=
tf201 used for 2 weeks ,sent for RMA 3weeks and so on. trying to sell it after this.
wanna say bye bye to asus 4ever!!!
---------- Post added at 05:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:14 PM ----------
one more thing, before u send for RMA, u should take some picture of ur tablet because there are few threads complain about the broken after RMA.
good luck!!!

Few hours and no issue with camera...
No samaung is no good. Slow updates and poor quality "plastick". Not for me....i dont need s pen....i bought tablet with multitouch screen to touch it by finger not by stylus. Too many accesories is not good to daily using. U can lost it very fast...

Just happened to me. I'm shipping it to their TX facility on Friday. It's unlocked and running Virtuous, so I'm not super optimistic that they'll be open to looking at it. I assume they'll see it's unlocked and refuse to service it even though the green screen issue is clearly hardware (not software!).

when you factor in the time for the shipping/diagnosis/fixin/ and return shipping, its hard to believe most customers who send their primes to the manufacturer for this camera issue won't receive a fixed product in less than a week. thats why we attempt to find a fix ourselves by posting on this forum. speaking like that makes you sound less of a android dev supporter and more of an asus corporate representative.

Yep - confirmed. Asus fixed my camera and turned it around in less than a week. Seems to work just fine now. It apparently didn't bother Asus at all that my device was unlocked and running a non-stock ROM (Virtuous). It was very clear to them that it was a hardware issue, and they fixed it. Plain and simple. I'm very satisfied with the service.

I have gone through 4 dead Rezound's. The first one i bought was purchased late december, this was a XA model. About 2 weeks ago, it started to act up pretty bad. I called verizon and they sent me a certified like new device, this one was an A model. This one had the same exact issues my first one was having. I called back verizon and they sent me another rezound, A "B" model. This one was great, my battery life was fantastic, i had about 3.5 hours of screen time on the normal 3.7v battery, then i went to make a phone call and noticed that the proximity sensor was dead. Called up verizon and they sent me another one. This one is a "A" model. Well, this one is the worst one of them all. The batter hit about 140 degrees and ate about 35% of the battery doing the initial set up. I literally have to keep the internet turned off to be able to make it through the day.
Well, verizon gave up on trying to replace the rezound and they offered me a comparible device. The offered me a droid charge. At that point, i asked to speak with the manager. While i was waiting to get connected, i took a drive to the local Verizon store. I was talking to the manager when i walked into the verizon store. Handed the Tech support person the rezound and the phone i was talking to the manager on. After a few minutes of the tech support guy messing with the phone and explaining the problems to the manager i had on my other phone, i was offered a Galaxy Nexus.
I just needed to vent, and see if anyone else had the same issues as i did.
Nope.....mine has been perfect...great battery life...with an extended battery.

Be interested in hearing if you have any connectivity issues with the Nexus. My wife was handed a brand new one (Nexus) on Thursday, as her company phone. I couldn't even download tiny apps and widgets to it over the weekend, because it would randomly lose signal completely, all the while my Rezound had a strong 4G connection.
I was having major issues with my fiance's Droid Bionic and I was offered a Razr, Rezound or Galaxy Nexus as a replacement. I took a Rezound.

The first 3 devices had no connection issues, this last one does indeed have connection issues.

Initially, i was on ICS. when all the problems started, i went back on S-On/ stock GB and still had the same issues. With this last phone, i kept it on GB. I didnt even try to change anything at all.
Dammit i specfically asked for a nexus just to see what they would say a couple weeks ago when i had to return my Rezound, but they said no "its a premium device" they said.
I'd suggest not taking the nexus, if you don't have signal issues you will get the USB port problem
Wher it thinks it's charging when it's not, the phone overheats like crazy and the screen turns on and off erratically
I'm never buying a Samsung phone again

I understand all the issues that the Galaxy Nexus has, and i appreciate your input. I am just at the point that i want the phone to work. This is my 4th rezound, and i have had nothing but issues with it. I am really not keen on the Galaxy Nexus, but am willing to take it as long as it works.
you know what? i disagree. try the nexus. Seriously. Just try it for a week. what the worst? you return it for a rezound or you keep it and your happy. see, if i was in your shoes, id try it out because i am a crack flasher

I honestly didn't want or ask for a nexus, but at this point, i am willing to take it. I just want my device to work. I don't know how its possible that 4 out of 4 devices where defects. Its almost as if HTC's quality control went down the toilet.
I love(d) HTC until recently. My Droid Incredible was amazing, but the rezound is a very poorly built device.
Take the Nexus if you want any long living development or lifespan.

I received my N10 today, unfortunately my copy wouldn't make a stable wireless connection, it would connect, drop, reconnect repeatedly. After a while the WiFi would quit working altogether requiring the tablet be powered off. Google had me try a few things but ultimately decided I needed a replacement.

There isn't much to do without an internet connection, GApps want to setup a Google account before they do anything. I did play with the photo sphere, that is pretty cool.
I have to say that I like the look and feel of the N10 more than I thought I would. The promotional pictures made it look curvier than it really is. The sides and bottom have a slight curve, maybe a couple of mm, so it technically isn't a rectangle with rounded corners (suck it Apple). I like the speakers on the front, sound is one of the gripes I have with my GTab 10.1
I looks like the replacement will arrive on the 21st, so hopefully I'll have something to play with over the long holiday.

This sounds exactly like a certain Android-related issue with certain WiFi routers. If you experience such an issue, I would first suggest trying to use a static IP on your N10. If it's the same issue that I'm thinking of; setting a static IP should fix it.
Another fix is to set the DHCP lease time to something (some routers have it at forever, which could be bad). I had a similar case back with my SGT7 and a Belkin router (Belkin routers are pretty well known to have the DHCP lease at forever)
Mine has dust in the display so Google is shipping one out on Tuesday. I really hope I don't get another defective unit.
I was having a similar WiFi connectivity issue and nearly drove myself crazy trying to solve it. After reading this thread, I went into my router's setup (I have a Belkin, by the way), and refreshed the list of devices that are connected to it. Since doing this, my Nexus 10's WiFi has been working like a charm.
Belkin is crap. No wonder it has issues.
Update: 20-Nov-2012
The replacement came today and all is well, no network problems. It took me about 10 minutes to get setup and configured. It looks like the first one just had a bad WiFi chip.
