Hi, i've now cm9 rc and a xperia neo unlocked and root.
I would like test the official rom from sony.
Do you have a link or a method for install this without lost the advantage of root and unlocked bootloader.
If not, what's the custom rom similar (and optimised) at the official..
Thanks a lot
:good:
Check general section, find my thread with .ftf and instructions how to root.
Thanks, i read this but i would like an other way for not lost my root and lost time to re-rooting... (If i've understand the process)

Erm, boot(or hot boot) kernel with CWM, flash zip, restart phone. Entire process for root-ing it on unlocked BL.
btw, you can't re-lock your BL by flashing custom rom, or by doing full flash with flashtool.
Hi, I know the update 4.1.b.0.587 it's out, and I want to update my mini pro, but I'm stuck on .431 so anybody knows how can I update my SK17A because I tried with SEUS, and it says I already have the last update, PC companion say's the same thing, so if someone could help me that will be perfect..I have the mini pro SK17A not the SK17I
At the moment,4.1.b.0.587 is out only for Sk17i i guess.
Sk17a is till .431 as of now.
Have you seen someone using an sk17a with .587?

i guess i'm gonna forget about that update for know, so i have another question, and i hope someone could help me..as i have an stock rom, android 4.0.4, with stock kernel, compilation .431, no root, no unlocked bootloader, no nothing actually xD so my question is, my phone with ICS is a little slow, mostly on games, and i would like to know is what i need to do to solve that? i read on other threads that flashing a different kernel can fix that, it's that true? and besides, can i flash an custom kernel having an stock rom? how can i do that? i guess i need root on my phone first, i can do that, but i need to unlock the bootloader? that i don't want to do it
a stands for america!
And i is the international version!
That's what ive heard!
Idk what the differences are though

Yes custom rom/kernel will make ur phone smooth in every way. But for trying custom kernel u need boot loader unlocked. But u can try custom rom without unlocking boot loader if u have rooted :good:

Thanks! But i was talking about having stock rom with custom kernel, or do i need both for make it work better?..besides, the reason i haven't rooted my phone and unlocked the bootloader is becauses is to hard! XD i remember when i used to have a motorola milestone, you just need to install the app universal androot, or use superone click, and that's it, you have your phone rooted, but know it's to difficult, i have a galaxy nexus too, i recently root that one, and it wasn't easy either but i did it, but with this one, the xperia mini, it looks like having root and unlock the bootloader it's no for everyone
After rooting, when I'm on cyanogenmod9 on ics,I can overclock to 1.6 ghz too while gaming.no lag in using phone too.though my bootloader is unlocked. I would suggest you to root for a better experience!
Cheers.

To flash custom kernel you need unlocked bootloader, but for flashing custom ROM you need root and/or unlocked bootloader. Mostly of the ROMs work on locked bootloader too but if you want to play games so much you should Install Pure AOSP/AOKP based ROM and if you want best experience with games you should also install custom kernel.

Hi, folks. I'm wondering how to change my kernel, I saw some tutorials about how to unlock bootloaders, so the situation is this: Actually my xperia sola is rooted and locked bootloader running under stock ICS .54, sorry ,if it's a noob question but I like to be sure regarding I'm doing before messing up my phone.
1. I need to unlock bootloader https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vq6EwuK-vDI&feature=youtube_gdata_player (in order to be able to flash a custom kernel like brain kernel).
2. Flash custom kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2075093
is that it?
Any help would be appreciated.

No problem in unlocking the bootloader...... you can again lock it............the links given are good enough for you to continue......... just do everything step by step..........
Hi, I have some noob questions about roms, kernels, etc.: 1)once I have unlocked the bootloader and flashed a custom kernel if I flash the stock rom with Flashtools I lose the root but not the bootloader unlocked, right? 2)once done this, for flashing a custom kernel with Flashtools I need root permission? I think no, right? 3)using Flashtools can I safely flash the stock rom with the exception for kernel.sin part? In this case the custom kernel remains at his place, right? 4)but in these cases I lose the root, and I have to do the rooting process again, right? 5)some custom kernels have auto root feature... with this feature manual rooting is not necessary?
Thanks a lot.

1) Yes flashing stock rom doesn't relocks ur bl.
2) Nopes all you need is an unlocked bl.
3) Neva tried
4) Nopes if you have unlocked bootloader just flash any pre-rooted kernel and ur good to go. Most of the kernels here are pre-rooted.
5) Nopes not necessary

Ok, thanks.
...but I have another question: 1)if after unlocking BL and flashing custom kernels it's not necessary to do rooting process anymore (in stock rom too...?) what is the auto root feature? I'm slightly confused... 2)are there then kernel not rooted? 3)then is rooting process about kernel and not rom part? Why do i read in every rom (not kernel) "Rom pre-rooted"?

After flashing a custom kernel... You phone will be rooted... So you don't need to ado any other rooting procedure then... Yes in stock ROM too
Auto root is just that all custom Kernels are pre rooted... You don't need to root separately...
The stock Kernel is not pre rooted
Rooting procedure is neither about ROM nor about Kernel... Its about Android OS... Root enables you to customize Android system...
Kernel and ROM are just its parts... Pre Rooted ROMs have superuser installed... But you must have CWM and Root to flash ROM.
And for more of such questions read the stickied basic guide.

...and if a kernel has not auto root feature? What does it mean...? like this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2160537 The developer has removed this function. Maybe I can ask in the developer thread directly...
You won't have root access... Simple... Stop confusing yourself.
PREDATOR95 ->->->->a.k.a. ->-> predatOr
Third question in first post.
No you won't lose root if u flash stock rom without the kernel. (provided u have a rooted kernel first)
For question 3... Yes you can... but if u want to really retain the kernel exclude fota and simlock too

Hello
I have a few questions about the hole "thing" cause this is my first android phone and on apple there was just the option jailbreaked or not jailbreaked
My first question is about the bootloader.
since i was reading the thread "[FULL ROOT] Community RootKit! (ASEC vulnerability) {v01} [20140615]" i am asking me why should i unlock my bootloader when im able to get root without doing this?
Is there any special point for wich i need the unlocked bootloader or is it just written for the people who unlocked there bootloader already?
Then to second question is about the sequence.
Am i right when i
1. get root
2. install cwm or twrp
3. install custom rom?
by the way: is there any huge difference between twrp and cwm? because at the table "Kernels" there is the TWRP for the Xperia T2 Ultra and an unofficial version and from CMW is an unofficial version too? Wich should i use?
and my last question is should i wait for version 2 of the RootKit or are there just small differences?

Bootloader unlock is required to install Custom kernels like DOOMLORDS kernel. In case if you dont want that then no need to unlock BL.
Just follow this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784757 to get root on Locked Bl and then revert back to .402

A custom ROM is different from a custom kernel. Some custom ROMs do not require custom kernels (because they use stock kernel), but others do. So it really depends on the custom ROM that you want to use. Instructions and requirements will be posted in the respective ROM thread.
But if you want to use a custom kernel, then you will need to unlock the bootloader first.
And obviously, if you want to flash a custom ROM that needs custom kernel, then you will have to unlock your bootloader first.
Even if you want to flash a custom ROM that does not require a custom kernel, you need to first root the phone with the RootKit. Because flashing custom ROMs is usually done via recovery, and recovery installation requires root.
Hope the above is not too confusing.

Then i take twrp or cwm
And then i flash a custom Rom wich use stock kernel
And that can i do with a locked bootloader?
What can be different in an other kernel?

Yes, run Rootkit, install recovery (TWRP/CWM) and then you can flash custom ROM which uses stock kernel.
Custom kernels allow functions such as overclocking, undervolting, etc.

Then follow Nuts thread and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784757

then i have 2 new questions
1. How can i downgrade my phone ? just download the fw and use flashtool?
got an iphone till now and there it was a hard work to do it ..
2. is there any difference between locked and uinlocked bootloader? i mean in the point of restoring so that i have my warranty back?
1. There's now an even easier way to root the 402 firmware that does not require you to downgrade first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784900
But note this post, where you have to change something in the install.bat file for it to work on the Z2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53480221&postcount=81
2. It's a little more work if your bootloader is unlocked and you want to relock it before sending it to the service centre. You need to have your TA backup before doing so. If your bootloader is locked, you just have to remove root via SuperSU before sending it in for service.
