[Q] Guys, Please Help! Must cancel firmware update! - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

So I just got my champagne 32gb from tigerdirect (came next day surprisingly) and it has 3.2 HC. As soon as I connected it to my wifi, it started downloading ICS, and I didnt know how to stop it (aside from turning off wi-fi). I tried shutting down DMClient, that didnt work. Now it's downloaded and my battery is below 15% so it wont install it.
How do I cancel this whole process or delete the new firmware? I want to keep HC as long as possible to see if my Prime has a hardware issue. Can I disable this auto-update firmware or is it just going to keep downloading it over and over? Help would be appreciated, and welcome back to everyone after the blackout.

If you want to find out if you have a Prime that should be returned you should upgrade to ICS anyway if it borks it return it thats what I did and now I have one thats flawless with ICS.

It will keep downloading over and over.. you can do 3 delays of it.
However, there is a way, pretty positive you must be rooted, where you can use TiTanium Backup and "freeze" the updater file before it runs & updates.

I thought you had to load ICS to be sure you had a bum unit or not?

[Q] G-tablet refuses to update

First thing I want to say, this is a bone stock tablet. Everyone from XDA told me to try out the tablet first without it being hacked for a couple of weeks and then decide if you want it hacked later down the road. I have already searched this question and haven't yielded any results.
I have been trying to avoid posting a help thread for a very, very long time, but things have kinda gotten out of hands now. The other day I had been prompted to do the 4349 OTA update, but I waited because I wanted to see what the XDA community thought of it first before doing so. I set my tablet down, went into the other room for some lemonade, came back and my 3 yr old nephew got ahold of it. Somehow, he got into the settings folder, got into security, and did a "Factory data reset". I powered on my tablet and I have nothing. Nothing is on my device. Whatever Viewsonic sent it with, is gone now. Adobe Flash is gone, Facebook, Twitter, Angry Birds, and a couple of other apps are just not there. Now to be real honest, these aren't really that big of problems to me (I mean yea I was really far on Angry Birds, but whatever). The biggest problem to me is the fact that when I go to the OTA updater, it says my device is up to date being on the 3588 UI version. I want to get to 4349 somehow, but it is not letting me. I called Viewsonic and nobody had any idea. Does ANYBODY know what to do? Its getting pretty ridiculous that no one has any idea.
My goal for this tablet is to get a custom ROM on it (preferably one of Roebeets) with the VTL Launcher and support for an ad hoc network.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Hold Volume up while Powering on - let go of both buttons when the birds appear to go into recovery mode.
Try that out.
The update was pulled. They are preparing a new one to be released soon.
Recovery mode was not working, but apparently that doesn't matter anymore as the update has been removed. Thank you all.

[Q] Guys, help please. Can I keep HC 3.2?

I just got my champagne 32gb from TigerDirect today and as soon as I connected it to wifi it started updating to ICS. Didnt install yet because I'm at low battery. My question is - can I somehow negate the update and keep HC? This is my second prime and the first one locked and rebooted constantly. Im worried this will be the same issue with the ICS update again.
Im still unsure whether the rebooting is a hardware or software issue but I want to be safe and stick to HC while its figured out. How can I cancel the update and keep my HC? Help would be appreciated, thanks.

Rejecting OTA

Hello all. I've been reading with much dread on the changes to my phone with the Verizon forced OTA update. I really don't care about the extra battery bar, and didn't want to have my battery life wasted by the Verizon Location bloatware. I caught my phone twice trying to install the OTA, and I defered it until tomorrow.
That's when I notice you can "reject" the update. Currently if you go into settings, status, you can then click on reject. It appears the OTA will not install.
Hope this helps,
BOBBY
PS- I have a screen shot but can't post a Photobucket link as a new member yet.
I read on here that it will be forced upon you on Feb. 5.
Don't be afraid...
Nope
I rejected the OTA a couple of times; didn't stop it from installing when I wasn't looking a few days ago.
It really sucks that you can't permanently reject an update if you don't want it.
My son has a DroidX that is bone stock. He doesn't care about mods whatever, his phone is all beat up and he could care less what the wallpaper/icons etc are. He just wants it to work.
When the GB update came out for it, he absolutely DID NOT want it but eventually it installed anyway and his phone has been really messed up ever since (it worked fine before the update)
He has so many apps installed that he really doesn't want to factory reset it ( he doesn't even know where he got half of them) but it is going to have to be reset soon.

You can always save it for later.
The file is called OTAPkg.zip and should be in /cache/fumo. You can just download it and postpone the install then move it out to somewhere where you can always use it at a later date.

Yes I had followed the link to downgrade, everything goes fine now (without reboot). But seems the wifi get worse...how come it be>.<
Man i had mine boxed up today after becoming very frustrated last night trying to use it. I was gonna return mine and pick up a ASUS ultrabook.
However i could not bring myself to return it at the store being i knew i would miss it too much. I still have a few days left on my return date. But currently my Prime is sitting in its boxed and i haven't fired it up since i boxed it up. And i am currently typing this on my GF's windows laptop
Im gonna update again on a fresh reboot and see how it goes.

Canada and updates, when??

Has anyone in Canada gotten the update yet? I haven't had either of the two recent updates, live in BC, I hit the refresh button looking for new updates nothing ever shows up.

The update will be available this week sometime. Also, the .13 update has been by passed and instead you will just go straight to .14
Canadian update is NOW .14 is...
Yep, didn't fix GPS
Yes, i just got the update this morning. So far so good but its to early to tell for sure if everything is okay.
Mind you i never had any problems before either so am keeping my fingers crossed.
Any Canadians here have a working GPS? With or without new update?

Did your update come down automatically, or did you have to do a system firmware update from about tablet. I am in Montreal and have not seen it come down automatically (C1OKAS serial number)
Thanks for responding in advance
I was on .11 with C10KOS WW SKU TFB (Wow that's not even English anymore ) and I did a manual check for system update around 8:15 AM EST and found the .14 update. Its a tiny download and I have been running it for about 1.5 hrs now with no problems.
- Wifi is better
- No random reboots or problems during update. Actually, I didn't have any of the problems listed on some of the threads with my TFB (i.e. Random Reboots, Screen bleeds, wifi or GPS problems).
- Didn't factory reset before or after the update.
Hope that helps
For Me:
WW Model (Canada)
Got the .14 update (prev had .11)
Not rooted
Prev: With heavy use about 1 reboot a day and it would always reboot after 20-22 min of watching netflix.
Did the update, didn't reset anything.
Was able to watch netflix for over 30 minutes without issue.
So far so good.
My GPS was very very weak from the beginning. Maybe 1 sat when outside. But I didn't buy a tablet for heavy gps use.
Just updated, no glitches, re-rooted with voodoo, checked setcpu and Im still at 1.6ghz
I have BCOKAS01, was on .11 with no problems except gps, rooted.
I'm stuck at 99% but will keep waiting. Running .11 right now.
I'm a C1OKA and despite a gps that has never seen a bird I've had no problems. My wifi is weaker than other devices in my home, but totally usable. The browser hangs a few times a day but only for a moment. I have no light bleeding or rebooting issues.
I must say i am happy so far. As long as firmware updates don't render my prime unusable I plan on keeping mine. Will update later.
I have been getting all updates the same day its out on the forums automatically without manual update checks. I have c1 bought from canada Computers
No prpblems until. 13 (reboots, sleep of death, and bad battery life)but now that I have been on. 14, there hasn't been any troubles
Took mine this morning. I hit the postpone button for 1 day but it popped up again 10 minutes later (and did the same the next two times I hit postpone) so I had no choice since I'm not rooted.
So far it seems to be at least as good as .11 though it hasn't been running for long.
I had absolutely no trouble on .11 either, which is why I didn't really want to update.
So far so good.

THe update has been installed but now my tablet doesn't boot ... infinite loop of going from Asus Loading screen with the spinner to the "Eee pad" screen ...
I'll try rebooting it in 5 minutes if it's still in this state, don't want to mess with the update
Edit : Even after factory reset, it still doesn't boot.
My only guess is that somehow the update ate up all the battery and now the system doesn't think there's enough battery to first boot after a firmware update ...
Will have to wait tonight to get my charger, hopefully it's this, otherwise it broke my tablet

You can try this:
http://www.transformerforums.com/forum/asus-transformer-help/6594-how-recover-boot-loop.html
Thanks, but that didn't help ... maybe waiting for the battery to run out and then charging it again will fix it ... otherwise I'm good for RMA
