New prime with ICS and different hardware? (TP201a?) - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Here is a link to a website. (found the link on tweakers, tnx 'manvanstaal' )
http://www.ampers.me.uk/2012/01/asus-transformer-prime-and-android-4.html
They talk about a new Transformer Prime with android ICS as stock OS, but they also talk about changed hardware.
This would be very bad for everybody who has the 'old' Prime.
Would we be allowed to exchange our Prime for the new one?
Maybe somebody finds some extra info on this new hardware....

I think he's talking about the 'BB' and 'BC' revisions of the ATP... in a nutshell, the majority of users with wifi/bt issues have the 'BB' version, while the 'fixed' version is the 'BC' revision. The letters 'BB' and 'BC' are from the first two letters in the serial number of your TFP. If my guess is correct, then the article is wrong since I got my Prime with Honeycomb preloaded more than a week ago and I had the 'BC' revision.

Ok that would be positive news. I also have the BC version and everything is working fine. But if they really made some major hardware changes that would make everything even better then that would make many people sad

I doubt that would happen since there has been no hint or any news whatsoever about any hardware revisions at all. The only hardware revision there has been AFAIK was the 'BC' revision of the ATP.

Any hardware changes would need FCC approval if it involved radio/wifi/gps specs and people would be on that as soon hit the FCC filing office.

All mine from Bestbuy have been a BC, even my wife's prime that I am returning today for reboots, lags, lockups, weak wifi, and no GPS. So take that SLAP ans send it back you way.

Mine is a BC model and my wifi sucks when I go upstairs, but my bionic has great wifi signal. I also have reboots since the latest update, and ever since the first ICS update I have had browser issues on all 5 browsers I've tried.

I have a best buy BC version and everything but GPS works. I think it goes back today to see about a replacement.

I have a BC and the wifi is weak!!

I don't get it. Where does this site get the notion that there's a hardware revision? Maybe I'm missing something in the quoted specs that indicates such?

I don't get it either, the specs seems the same. But they say it like it's a fact.
Maybe some more info in this will come in the next couple day's/weeks. Or it's just the BB/BC revision.

My prime had a BC SN before I returned it this morning. I had no serial number and horrible wifi, so the issue was not isolated to BB sn units. I am torn between ordering a new one and hoping it works or waiting for the TF700T.

Early Production Transformer Prime with wifi instability problem exchange!

Asus has announced today that early production transformer prime, specificly the ones sold in the computer exhibit in Taiwan earlier this month, if user experience wifi instability problem, it is eligible for exchange after the 19th. The exchange has to be made between 12/29 and 2/19. Based on their announcement, I'm quite confident that they've done something to fix the wifi problem (the ones you guys are getting).

It also confirms that: A) there was a problem, and B) Asus Canada wasn't high when they told resellers there was an issue with Wi-Fi. It may also be a problem for early builds that GameStop stores already received that were shipped well before the 19th. The best news is they must have come up with a fix and units shipped the 19th and after are probably going to be fine. But it's still kind of spooky that a device they've probably been working on for at least nine months appears to have had a pretty significant issue so close to its release.

i have to defend for Asus a little bit here. 9 month is short to come up with a device, the amount of work that has to go in to build something from scratch is a lot. compromise have to be made here and there, the ID team have to cooporate with the engineering team, and the engineering team have to cooperate with the IDteam. Things constantly change. The wifi issue is not horrible, if no one had told me about it i probably wouldn't even notice it. There are hundreds of problem when a new product is first put together, it a ot of work and time to fix them. And sometimes is manufacturing related, the prodotype might work fine, but when mass producing, some weird thing's gonna show up (which i believe is the case for the prime). I mean, look at the antenna problem with the iPhone 4 when it first release? or the volume key problem with the galaxy nexus.
The wifi issues were brought up a while back...
Anyway, here is a new updated review from anandtech:

He says the retail ones are fixed.

Let's see... ASUS identified a problem and is fixing it. They're replacing affected devices. At worst, they've delayed widespread release of a new product by a few weeks.
I can't imagine a company doing a better job of handling a such a situation.

Apparently US did receive faulty wifi Prime tablets, but only a small amount as Asus has issued a recall of 300 units, yet say they are still on track for their Dec 19th launch date.

Actually I think the AnandTech reviewer first identified the problem.
"ASUS originally claimed that no one else had this issue but it looks like the CNet reviewer also noticed it."
So I think BarryH_GEG has a point. It's good that ASUS is now reporting the problem, and doing something about it, but it doesn't paint a great picture for their QC if they don't do basic testing to discover such issues before sending units out.

Here's where I disagree: who said that ASUS didn't do "basic testing" before sending units out? You do understand that no high-volume manufacturer tests _every_ unit, right? They test samples from lots. The size of the sample they test relates directly to the importance of defects--I guarantee that each and every CT scanner is extensively tested, at the cost of thousands of dollars each, before it's sent out vs. a consumer product like a tablet where maybe 1 out of 1000 is tested. The reason is because the consequences of a defect are so much graver for the CT scanner (which of course isn't actually a high-volume product, but let's hold onto the analogy) than for a tablet.
The very fact that almost every consumer product made today has one or more initial issue (the iPhone 4S with Antennagate, the Galaxy Nexus with its volume bug, etc., etc.) means that it's likely impossible to catch every single problem. The cost to do so would simply be prohibitive vs. the lost productivity/enjoyment for the user and the cost of fixing the problem after the fact. Unless you want these things to cost MUCH more, then this is the way it has to be.
So, there were likely a few lots of units that had a manufacturing defect around the Wifi antennas, and those slipped through QC. The good thing about lots is that they make isolating bad units so much easier--just recall and test the affected lots and you're good to go. Seems like this is what happened here. Then, ASUS probably increased their sampling of other lots, hence the delay and reduce shipments, and now seem confident that the manufacturing problem has been resolved.
As far as the small number of units that were affected (300? really? that's rounding error vs. how many should ultimately be made), ASUS is replacing them. Case closed, really. And again, the worst thing that's happened is that we incredibly impatient early adopters have to wait a few weeks for our new toys (or tools, either way doesn't really matter).
Other manufacturers (cough Apple cough) sometimes let these things go and then don't even fix them (offering ridiculous "solutions" like a freaking rubber band, LITERALLY). ASUS took the high road here, and should be commended for it.
I hope that includes the early gamestop model I have. definitely has WiFi issues.

Hence, probably why Gamestop is delaying their release. ASUS is probably shipping them new stock to replace their existing stock, which will be (or has already been) shipped back.

You've posted the above twice. There's a big difference between Wi-Fi not working or working poorly on a device that depends on it and the above two issues.
Apple's issue with the iP4 (not iP4s) wasn't technical. It was their arrogance. They knew that their design choice could have a performance impact under difficult to produce conditions but form trumped function. It shipped performing as they intended it. They were surprised only by the fact people were making such a big deal of it.
The GN's issue only occurred when using the phone on 2G (900Hz) in close proximity to another phone also using 2G. The percentage of people affected (almost all in rural European areas) was small. Yes, it should have been caught but it was a freak circumstance that probably wasn't in their testing scenarios. But it was a low impact problem that was corrected in days with s/w. No one in the U.S. would have even noticed because no carrier here uses the 900Hz frequency.
Another example you didn't mention. The HTC Sensation had a Wi-Fi-Gate issue. When held horizontally with your hands in a certain position Wi-Fi signal would deteriorate. The design choice of an aluminum back cover (sound familiar) made the antenna sensitive. HTC's answer? Don't hold it that way (and to stop using aluminum back covers going forward). Regardless, the phone worked fine, users just had the annoyance of having to be careful how they held it. Again, it wasn't a surprise found after release but an intentional design choice.
The difference between Asus' Wi-Fi issue and the above comes down to severity and number of people that would have been affected. They were obviously surprised by it and being a high impact problem it should have been caught way earlier in QC. The units solid in Taiwan were materially defective and they wouldn’t have sold them had they known. Hence the recall. **** happens. But you can't lump it all in to the same category.

when are the next generation primes going to be out

My prime has some minor problems (something Loos inside and one corner of the screen is like unstuck or something) so I'm gonna return it to best bug soon. But I'm wondering how long I need to wait to get the second generation of primes to get in stick at places like amazon.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
there is no second generation prime. if you exchange now, chances are good to get one with issues fixed found in some units. As far as GPS goes, depending on when u get the prime, its likely to be taken out of the Prime or drivers for it disabled. Since Asus knows of the issues now, most new units should be corrected now. wait at least a week or 2 if you can. the longer you hold off, more than likely get a newer unit with problems fixed.
Actually reading your post again, if its just a screen issue, you could just exchange it now and new unit should be fine. I have one of first ones when it came out and have no screen issues.
Thanks I think I'm gonna go to best buy this weekend to return it. If Amazon has then in stock I'll probably get it from them this time.

Better yet,
#1 Since no one know when primes or docks are being shipped until they are given a tracking #
#2 Since, we can get no real straight answers on GPS/WIFI etc...
Why would you muddy up the forums with questions like these? Not trying to be a ****, just get tired of people posting things that NO ONE can answer, or if they can won't.
IMO, some people have too much time on their hands and will never be happy with a product unless they make it themselves, then they will be the only on happy as others will find flaws. THERE WILL NEVER BE A PERFECT PRODUCT PEOPLE!!! If there were there would never be "The next best thing".
Jumps off soapbox....
Also, I was a lucky one and got the 1st TP at my gamestop and I love it! My Dock arrives Tuesday from Newegg, screw you Amazon! (I was one one the ones who had my TP and dock canceled in their big SNAFU and re-ordered it when they allowed us to and canceled after I got confirmation I was getting from others that I ordered afterwards but getting it sooner.
I think it's a very valid question just in case someone might have a good idea answer. There are tons of folks on this sight with loads of information.
I am happy with my Prime but I am also not quite sure if it's *right*. I know the browser is slow but I've switched browsers and I still get rendering problems and blinking checkered board swatches all the time. I've read the touch screen calibration thread several times over and I think mine is kinda iffy there, too. Especially corners and when I'm trying to place the curser back in the middle of a paragraph or sentence.
So my thought right now is to wait it out, see what more I can find out, I have until early February to return it. Maybe by then newer production units will be out and perhaps there will fewer issues. Sometimes I think mine is perfect, other times I wonder. Now that more are available I am going to compare mine to a friends, look at the at Best Buy, and make sure mine is "right". It's damn close, I just want to make sure.
I'm not due to receive mine until the end of this month and maybe it's a blessing in this case since Asus' production line is probably going through an overhaul in quality and inspection. Your decision to wait it out may be worthwhile, at least until the ICS is ota and then you'll find out if it fixes your problems.

The ASUS FB posting said they were removing the GPS from the spec sheet not the chip from the tablet. Have you seen other information regarding any other action they are taking? I assume their FB announcement meant it would not be an advertised feature but the capability would still exist as an unadvertised feature.
Today was the official launch of the TP in The Netherlands and Asus Benelux confirmed there will be a 3G version within 3 months.
BTW Preorders were up today, ordered a 64 Gb Amathyst Grey.
Delivery Januari 10
[Q] May I assume that a 3G version could be used in wifi only mode and the only drawback would be the higher purchase price (no data charges if you never sign up for a 3G plan).

And though the company’s German arm previously stated that there were no plans to bring a mobile broadband version of the tablet to market, another part of the Asus seems to think differently. Newegg tends to deactivate products when queue of orders is too high. Same thing happened with the AMD FX-8150 when it came out.
Feels like people want it to be discontinued ..? But why? So you flame and cry a little more? The prime is an awesome product and obviously asus wasn't prepared for the high demand.

I hope, I wish, and I pray that the current TF201 will be discontinued.
Like it or not, that's me.
It has design flaw, imperfection, admitted by ASUS, tested by users, what not.
New build would be better, change the back plate!
PS: If you bought one and happy, then it is GOOD for you. Keep it!
It will not be discontinued. My theory so far is that new devices will have the new backplate that was shown on new Transformer Prime at CES. This might also be why Amethyst Grey is widely available but Champagne Gold is not (especially in UK it is not available at all). Amethyst Grey was in production first, Champagne Gold went into production after Amethyst Grey and production was held back by them installing the new backplate.
I doubt that was actually the case, but it would make sense since that would explain why it is mentioned as discontinued, when in fact the only thing discontinued might be the current model.
The amount of returns due to defects and design flaws probably killed it. It would be nice to see Asus fullfill the remaining pre-orders with tf700.
I wonder how they will liquidate remaining tf201 inventory, can the sell it to Big Lots "as is, no warranty"?
For those who are happy with tf201, keep it and enjoy.

You're funny...
No, really, you're hilarious.
I like mine and do not seem to suffer with any of the issues everyone keeps mentioning. Even my GPS in the back garden picked up 11 satalites within about 1 minute, not that I will ever use it anyway just thought I would test it.
And what I really like is the dock charges the tablet so as I only really use the dock to transport it (extra safety) it charges the tablet at the same time and I am talking about when it is not plugged in the wall. That just seemed a extra bonus that I never new about until I noticed the tablet seemed to have more battery evrytime I took it to work.
Who said they are receiving large amounts or devices returned? Lmfao. People are funny with no official source to back up that claim. As far as we know, these issues, aside form GPS, only affecting a small number of users. Most don't care or even realize device has GPS anyways. So i seriously doubt a large number of people returning them for that reason alone. PRIME will continue to be produced and sell out. THE demand outweighs the supply. Its still selling like crazy. ACCEPT the fact, Prime is here tl stay. GLAD my prime performs flawlessly for me, so I Will be keeping this mofo plus we already got root and overclocking n more. Prime is on a roll now and nothing can stop it!

You don't suffer from the issues mentioned b/c you haven't haven't used your Prime in the use cases others have (e.g., GPS while driving, wanting decent speeds via WiFi at a far distance from the router, streaming over Bluetooth audio while using the WiFi connection).
We'll, I get decent enough wifi and GPS on my prime, so I just hope they figure out the quality control issues. In fact, my wifi in this meta wifi murderingl building are like the (stronger signal) OG transformer, much better than my workstations Ethernet port tends to be.

Okay, I'm going to whisper this. Maybe if I do people will finally get it:
THERE IS NO FREAKING TF700!!!! THERE WON'T BE A TF700 UNTIL JUNE, MAY AT THE EARLIEST!!! ASUS CANNOT REPLACE THE TF201 WITH THE TF700 BECAUSE IT DOESN'T YET EXIST OUTSIDE OF A FEW MOCKUPS SHOWN AT CES!!! AND THEY WON'T SIMPLY 'FULFILL REMAINING PRE-ORDERS' WITH THE TF700 BECAUSE IT'S A MORE EXPENSIVE PRODUCT AND NOT A DIRECT REPLACEMENT FOR THE TF201!!!
There. Glad I could stay calm.

I've had mine for a while now. I love it. I don't need GPS on a tablet (although one day I will regret saying that). I can understand why people are returning them though.

I didn't know the Amethyst ones were made before the Champagne models. Is this true for the keyboard docks as well. I want a Champagne dock to match my TP, but all I can find are Amethyst ones online.

Let ASUS Feel Our Wrath - Operation BBB

I submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) yesterday, BBB approved it and sent it to ASUS.
We should all complain to the BBB. That'll really show ASUS there's a problem and if they don't deal with it, the BBB will do them in nicely, no lube, just like ASUS did with us.
https://www.bbb.org/greater-san-francisco/complaint/new/16870
File a complaint. It'll take 2 minutes of your life, but these 2 minutes will have a bigger result than the last 3 hours you spent in here looking for threads that would solve whichever of the 50 problems you may have with your Prime.
P.S. There's a debate on whether or not it's getting discontinued and I remember Asus stating that the tf700 will be the "big brother" to our tf201 as an upgraded higher end model. But I don't believe a single word they say any more.
Why? Because I also remember Asus reassuring us that the rumor of the Wifi being screwed up and release date getting pushed back was false and everything was fine.
I also remember Asus stating we're getting ICS on the 12th, but came out on the 9th. If you didn't realize, it was to appease tf201 owners because of the kick in the balls we got from the announcement of the tf700.
And since we've all had problems, Asus has not said A SINGLE word. What does that say about the company?

i personally have all of these problems, I've not encountered any fixes or "sentences" coming from asus about these.

Agreed this is a mess I have never seen a product be such a crapshoot for what problem you might have. Anyone buying one of these has several things to worry about when buying one and who wants to have to feel extremely lucky to get what you paid for? not me
All processors are not created equal. The ics update bumped the processor speed from 1.4 Max to 1.6 max. Your unit probably has a processor that couldn't handle the bump. Yours is probably the 1 out of 100 cores that can't handle over clocking well. The lines on the screen sound like a processor issue. Best thing to do is to contact asus with the issue and ask for a replacement or Exchange from the store u bought it from.
I have had 0 issues with mine so I'll send in positive review since i have had a great experience.

Thank you very much for all of the support you have given to ASUS. Eee Pad Transformer Prime received excellent reviews and great demand when it launched in December 2011. Now, we are continuing to make the Transformer Prime available in the worldwide market, and doing our best to fulfill the incredible demand. ASUS strives to create the best products and provide the best service for our customers, and will be releasing an FOTA update for the Transformer Prime shortly. This update, version 8.8.3.33, will improve the focus of the camera, the fluidity of the touch experience, and the APK capabilities in Android Market.
ASUS has been working hard to make the highly anticipated Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich available on the Transformer Prime, and today, we have good news for you. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich FOTA worldwide update for the Transformer Prime will start from Jan 12th, 2012. Thank you for your patience and support through this process.
In addition, we would like to address your concerns related to GPS and bootloader on the Transformer Prime.
The ASUS Transformer Prime is made from a metallic unibody design, so the material may affect the performance of the GPS when receiving signals from satellites. Please note that this product is not a professional GPS device, and signal performance can be easily influenced by factors including, but not limited to: weather, buildings, and surrounding environments. Please understand there are limitations when using the GPS function. To avoid inconveniencing users who demand a powerful GPS device, we made the decision to remove it from our specification sheet and marketing communications. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
Regarding the bootloader, the reason we chose to lock it is due to content providers' requirement for DRM client devices to be as secure as possible. ASUS supports Google DRM in order to provide users with a high quality video rental experience. Also, based on our experience, users who choose to root their devices risk breaking the system completely. However, we know there is demand in the modding community to have an unlocked bootloader. Therefore, ASUS is developing an unlock tool for that community. Please do note that if you choose to unlock your device, the ASUS warranty will be void, and Google video rental will also be unavailable because the device will be no longer protected by security mechanism.
Thank you for all the understanding and support for the ASUS Transformer Prime. Happy New Year!

where did u get that i have ics? why would they have a release for our primes, if some of them cant handle a standard update of a slight overclock?
my friend, if i pay 500 for a product, i want it to be equal to urs and everybody elses. not be worth $249, and urs is $449, and that guys is 500, and the other guys is 323.
i dont have ics, as my unit was not created equal, i have an unknown serial number, which they havent spoken a word about, leaving me to 0 ota updates and having to manually update myself. Maybe if they thought of uploading a file to their support site for ICS (not a task that's very complicated), id be less upset, but that still wouldn't solve some major issues.
these guys ****ed up. that's the bottom line. Go read all the 100 threads about how they ****ed up if u can't understand that.
This is also a thread for people who feel they've ****ed up, not people who have perfect primes. So please don't spam it. Thanks.

These are issues from long ago. I'm talking about issues since early january. They haven't fixed **** and they've released a new prime to cover up for it. Don't talk if you're too thick can't read between the lines.
The CPU did not jump up to 1.6, it just shows it but does not run at it unless you use the tool created by viperboy. There is a few threads about this already.

1. The TF700 is the upmarket Prime unit. The TF201 is not discontinued and continues on.
2. The release date was always the week of 12/17 and was not pushed back. As for WiFi performance, we are investigating a firmware problem on several early boards right now.
3. ICS passed Google Certification earlier than expected so we pushed it live. First time I have heard a complaint about beating expectations.
4. We have been quite active on this forum and others. I know I have stated at least a few words on these subjects.

Devices weren't actually overclocked. I started that thread. It was actually confirmed the overclock speeds are dormant. If you get CPU spy (free) and look, you will see those higher overclocked are not actually used.
NOW IF YOU want a real overclock, go into Android developement section and check out ViperBoy latest creation, ViperConrol Mod. Which allows overclocking to 1.5 &1.6ghz speeds. That can be confirmed through CPU spy.

I am a firm believer in the BBB and use it myself to get company's to listen, so good for anyone that is having issues that can not get resolved, but please don't bring all of us into this as my Prime is perfect, I have had zero issues to date.
The BBB can't do anything to asus except ask them to resolve the issue with people that complain. They are a private company with no power over anyone.
edit: Asus doesn't even pay to be listed by the BBB.

I don't think you should be a "quiet voice" anymore. The more we know about it means there will be less rumors spreading for the most part. I would think since this was just released and it, for the time being, is your new flagship tablet, we would have more feedback from our real issues. If we see that you are being proactive, it would help some people sleep better at night lol. Being silent about everything is really not a foos thing with all of this drama unfolding. If the 700 model is an upgraded model, why dis they call it a "Prime", I would have created it another name like bumblebee or something. Naming it the samething seems to me like a replacement for this current one. So if you could be more proactive on the forums, FB, Twitter about everything, I think it would really help out a lot

Agreed. It'd also help if there was an update to how long we have to wait for a fix, or if there will be a fix, as some of us... if not all of us have a limited time to return this tablet if we are unhappy with it.
I don't want to return it because I like it's potential. But it's potential means nothing if it will not be fixed.

1. Then what is the reason for some stores "deactivating" it. (im not 100% saying its been discontinued, but i feel like it may be if theres going to be many problems on a good % of the models)
2. The release stayed the same, but there was a rumor about the wifi being bad and release date getting pushed back which Asus squashed saying the wifi is FINE and the release date will stay the same. As far as I can tell, the wifi is not FINE , and the release date was the 19th, but with a ton of backorders and delays (for more than a month in many cases).
3. It's not about ICS getting released early, it's just fishy it was released the same day the tf700 was announced. Seems like a cover-up. If you notice, a very good % of prime owners aren't too happy with a 3 weeks later announcement of something superior, when half the owners haven't even received their item yet.
4. I don't know how active you've been, but I haven't seen too much happen in over a week or two regarding fixes or updates (im not talking about firmware update 8.8.3.33 which solved a slight camera lag issue).
From my experience with newegg, a deactivated product could mean it's no longer available or they will no longer stock it or they have decided not to carry it. Amazon does the same thing when customer reviews are extemely low.
I imagine a high return rate would prompt this as well.

RMA Status and Results

I thought I would start a hopefully one stop shop thread on everyone who RMA the Prime and if there were any changes / results / things better worse. Maybe having all this under one roof would help not only with searching, but help us start working together.
I'll begin.
Sent my Prime in and was received by Asus 1/14
Status: in Repair
Reason for RMA: chip on bottom, light bleed, GPS and weak Wifi
ICS installed when sent in? Yes
I may be off base but I was curious if others were getting their Primes back yet and any changes.

If you sent it in with a chip they are going to say you damaged it, and they are going to charge you to repair it.
I hope I am wrong but I think that is what will happen. Sorry to give you the bad news.
I really wasnt lookimg for that kind of response rather ones that RMA their units, get them back and if anything changes foe better or worse or problems solved.

I'd say keep it. More than likely a good one. Plus you might not be able to return it because serial numbers are changed. Then you risk damage to device trying to send it to them then them sending it back tl you. I've had my prime since 12/22 n works great. You getting a third batch one. I'd say keep it.
You know I've been on this thing since November. From the promise of the true iPad killer, then to shipping problems then an oops I can get one quick to a month on this forum with is there a problem, is there not, Asus statement on the aluminum back issue, the anger for and against the prime, the amazing thread of owners trying to do what Asus couldn't or wouldn't which is find the real issues and try to fix the (I applaud these people) put me in a Stockholm syndrome of sorts.
After receiving my Brand New Prime, I realized, hey this product is flawed whether big or small it is flawed. Do I really want to start over and be disappointed again? No! Clarity has finally set in. Maybe I won't own a tablet for a while but I'm done with Asus and this whole mess. I listed mine on eBay and finally am happy with my decision. This is the right thing for me and me alone. I will follow here and I wish great things for the others here that keep the prime. For me it was time to end the anguish.

NOOOOOOOOOO! LOL
Seriously if that's how you feel ultimately, then you doing what's right. Take it from me though, it is a great device. Mines don't have the flaws most post up here n I had mines from an early batch since 12/22. I have no regrets at all that I ordered early. If I would've waited I might have got a flawed device like these other people have.. lol. Good luck on future tablet choice n remember, no device is perfect when first launched. Even iphone4 n ipad2 were riddled with issues. Their issues was on major news on t.v. its always the luck of the draw with electronics. MAN is not perfect. And damn well no Man Made Machine is either. Man is flawed along with the toys he makes
I sent mine in because touchscreen stopped working. After I sent it in I saw in my email that jr.com item was shipped. Check what it was and it was the 64gb version. I forgot I had that preordered. Seems better but I started having problems with the stock keyboard. I switched to thumb keyboard and everything was fixed. I might sell other on eBay, don't need 2 of them at least for now. They seem to be selling retail for lightly used. I thought 7 days waiting for status to change on repair was long. The other guys been waiting almost a month.
