Hello there everyone! This is my first post on XDA D). I've been a lurker for a long time, and I've decided to start my account with this question.
So a while back I dropped my Archos 32 IT onto the floor, and the screen just went black. I thought it was broken, but the device still shows up when I connect it to my computer.
I decided to open it up, and this is what I found:
https://plus.google.com/photos/105194242861580043727/photo/5700620933849191122
I was relieved at the sight of this, but as it turns out, putting it back in is harder than it looks!
Any suggestions on how to put it back in there?
I got it back in, but now it shows an extremely feint image! I'm thinking the cable isn't supplying enough power to the screen.

I have a Cingular 3125, working fine for weeks, happened that two days ago, I was charging the phone and transferring files to my computer via Bluetooth, nothing unusual, then it just got frozen, nothing responding, so I just took out the battery to manual reset the device and reinserted it, then tried to turn on the device, but it refuses to boot, no lights at all, also when I attach the phone charger, it doesnt show the usual orange led when charging, but I can feel that the phone gets warmer because the charger is attached and then after a while it gets a bit cooler, just like when it finishes charging, the usual behavior, but again, no lights at all trying to boot it or even attaching the charger, I've tried taking the battery off for hours and nothing also, and I wasnt overclocking the phone... would you say it just died? or maybe someone had same issues and solved it someway? thanks.
try this
OK, I don't remember where I read this, or the exact procedure, but give this a try.
remove the battery, press and hold the red call end key (power key) for 30-45 seconds. insert battery and do a hard reset, IE.. power on holding the 2 top soft keys while powering on the phone.
this method is supposed to clear any mother board issues and reset the phone. It has been a couple of years since I read the procedure so I am not sure if this is the correct way, if it does not work, try the same thing, only try taking the battery out, then put it back in and press and hold the power key for 30 - 45 seconds.
may or may not work, but can't hurt to try.
i had the same problem with startrek which i had bought from eBay
one more advice - try to hold record (notes) and camera buttons and insert an USB cable to your PC, it should enter to Bootloader mode
well, I have dissasembled the whole thing, I havent reached anything, even disconnected the backup battery, nothing, have checked battery with a multimeter and is full loaded... in short, someway the cell phone seems has just died, Erofich, to enter bootloader mode, the phone must turn on, it just doesnt want to start at all, no lights when connecting charger or USB cable... I'm sad because it was working fine with no problems for three months and more sad because it's the end for me to windows cellphones for a long time, I've invested a lot in this phone, accesories, unlocking, and even the same day it died also bought more memory and a neat skin cover and I'm not in mood to invest more in a cell phone so I'll use a spare crappy feature phone.
Thanks for your support.
one last effort
You could try one last thing, this has worked for me with a couple of startreks,
take the phone apart, and take the motherboard out, use a hair dryer to heat the motherboard, don't get crazy with it, but using the hair dryer on the high setting for about 30 to 45 seconds at about 3-5 inches, might revive the phone. (don't heat the battery, just the motherboard)
Put the phone back together while it is still hot (but not so hot that it will burn your fingers) and try to fire it up.
This has worker for me in 3 cases (phones that I bought off eBay that had the same symptoms as you have described)
good luck
big problem!!!!!!!!
I have been struggling to flash (again) the great pro V2 rom, but I always used my VMWare based XP windows version on my Vista laptop. Today I could use a genuine XP Laptop and I could make a connection and start the upgrade!
Sounds good? That's what I thought too, until the upgrade stopped at 70% (and I didn't touch anything), because of a connection error. I followed the text on my PC screen and I finally it started flashing again for a few seconds and then my startrek suddenly restarted, but it stops at the first splash screen! I tried to get my device back to bootloader mode (push 2 soft buttons and start), but no bootloader mode, only the 1st splash.
I solved the problem.
I have a T-mobile vibrant running bionix which has worked without any major issues up until a few minutes ago.
The phone shut itself off (while tethering). When I try to turn the phone on it will not boot.
I get the Vibrant splash screen, then the Team Whiskey animation and then the phone turns itself off.
I tried a different battery, and I also tried with and without the USB power plugged in. Removing/replacing the SIM and MicroSD card do not make a difference.
I got it to boot once with the battery cover removed, but putting the battery cover on made the phone shut off immediately. I have not been able to get it to boot up except for that one time.
The phone can boot to recovery properly, but then it just shuts itself off again.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on?
Sounds like you may have a case of bent contacts. Especially if it boots on when the cover is off but then you put it on and it shuts off. I would look at that first. Doing any hari-cari type battery pulls lately?
I have a little more information to add.
1. It isn't bent contacts. (Or if it is, I can't tell) The battery contacts are all in good shape.
2. It is definitely a physical contact or trace inside the phone. I can get the phone to boot up sometimes if I don't move it around very much. Simply tapping my finger on the back of the phone makes it shut itself off again.
What does that sound like? A power trace? Any help is appreciated.
I took the phone apart again and then reassembled it. Nothing seems to be broken that I can see with my naked eye.
More information:
Applying pressure to the battery (or middle of the phone) doesn't make it turn off.
Applying pressure to the back surface close to the top of the phone where the logic board sits makes it turn itself off instantly. Specifically, where the speaker/ringer is.
I wonder if a new logic board would fix my problem. I have already ordered a new phone (Galaxy Nexus), but I would love to get this one in working order again so that I could sell it or use it as an mp3 player
Hello,
I was at a concert last night, and took a few pics and videos on my phone..when I put it back in my pocket it became overheated - then the screen went blank. I could feel the heat almost burn my leg. From this the LED flashed a full variety of colours (greens, purple & white) and when pressing the power button nothing happened. It eventually started flashing red as I drove home but refused to come back on. I put it on charge when I got home where it was a very faint white colour LED. I did the manual reset (power&volume down)..nothing.
It's been on charge all night and it was just dead - no light - nothing this morning. I've charged it this morning at work, and there's a white light, sometimes faint, but trying to start it is impossible.
I'm now left phoneless as my spare phone doesn't take the Micro Sim card. I have insurance, but they want a £50 excess - I've contacted Motorola as this seems to be an internal electrical fault, but I was wondering if anyone has any hints or tips as it could be weeks before I have a phone again.
Anyone experienced / managed to sort this themselves?
Laura
Hi Laura, welcome! (I hope BRFC doesn't stand for Bristol Rovers!?)
Are you able to actually turn the phone on at all, ie get any screen to show?
I would imagine that the phone is newish, it's still covered under warranty so it may be worth contacting motorola directly to see if they are able to do anything.
When you plug it into your pc/mac and try and turn it on, does the pc pick up the phone at all?
Hey everyone,
So I finally got my new (used eBay special) Rezound working with Amon Ra installed and CM9 unofficial. I was up til around 5 AM this morning futzing with it until I finally got it going with help from lolatvincent and others. Now I have another problem - though this problem existed before, too, but I am as yet unable to resolve it. (I've tried searching this forum using plenty of terms as well as Google to no avail.)
Here's my other thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2151474
When I try to turn the phone on with the battery cover on, it won't power on. If I plug my phone into my USB port before I attempt to power it on, then press the power button, Windows makes its "device detected" sound, so clearly SOMETHING happens, but it goes away immediately and it won't happen again until I pull the cover off. Fastboot and ADB commands simply don't work with the cover on, so it seems that it does shut itself off again right after that power on attempt.
Further, if I have the phone booted and powered on, when I put the cover on, it just turns the phone right off as if you pulled out the battery.
This happens regardless of whether or not the SIM card (unactivated as yet - the phone hasn't been activated on my account) is in, and I've checked the typical CDMA/LTE settings and set them correctly, so it's not that issue.
I am waiting on a new battery for it, and I think I might try to order a new battery cover, but I want to know if this issue is going to go away or not before I spring the money for it. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!
If it ain't broke...see if it'll go faster. That's what I tried, BUT ended up
If it ain't broke...fix it 'til it is!
I posted this in XDA Assist, but as I suspected, I've well hosed this one, with probably no way up, but here goes. I promise, next time I won't be so wild. I know now that if you must burn your bridges, don't be standing on them!
Android 4.2.2
It's rooted with Vroot, has SuperSU and Titanium Backup Pro, shows rooted.
Had ADB working, tablet taking commands.
I first tried to put in CWM recovery for the HSG1279, supposed to be the same tablet, just bigger screen. I don't even know now whether THAT'S true or not.
Started in recovery mode, but was just stock, so I tried arctools to put in a generic Rockchip CWM 6.0.3.1. That's when things started going sideways. The install hung (imagine that!). The arctools had a forced restart of some kind, so I used that. When I got back to my home screen (whew!), I used Titanium backup to see what recovery mode looked like. The tablet went dark, and would not power on. I did the paper clip trick, which got it started, but did NOT wipe anything out, so not a hard reset. Any time after that when I tried to restart in recovery mode, the hard shutdown with the clip was required. Yesterday afternoon, I went off to work for about 3 hours, leaving the tablet on, but in standby. When I came back, the tablet was dark and no amount of paper clipping would help. It would not recognize a charge. Not being one to duck a fight, I opened the case and unsoldered the black (-) wire at the PC board. The battery measured some voltage, but I didn't notice how much, about 1/4 on the 25v. scale. I soldered it back on, put it back together without any further incident. It sill does just what it was doing...nothing. I have noticed that when it's plugged into my PC's USB port, and I reset with the clip, Unknown Device shows up in my PC's Devices And Printers list. When I unplug the cable, I get the stock Windows "be-boop" USB removal sound. When I plug it back in, I get a short "boo-boo-boop" sound. That's where it is now. Anyone have any ideas on getting it going again? For me, no more trying files that aren't made specifically for this oddball tablet. This has been a fairly expensive lesson in that.
Thanks for any help.
