[Q] Evo 3D Stuck In Bootloop After Attempting To Flash A Rom - HTC EVO 3D

So I unlocked using the HTC method, and then rooted the phone. I downloaded MIUI for Evo 3d, I went into bootloader (volume down and power) and I installed MIUI. So apparently I really messed up, and now I'm stuck in MIUI bootloop. I have no way to get back into Android.. I can't even use my phone at all. I remove the battery, put back in then hold down volume down and power. I get into the menu and choose recovery but it just boots back into the MIUI thing. How can I get back to android? I'm really worried here Did I mess up beyond repair? I'm freaking out.. I've posted on a few forums but no one has gotten back to me yet. I really hope someone here knows what to do, thanks.

If you're on hboot 1.5, and did not follow these instructions, then that is why. Follow that and you should be good.

Sent from my HTC Evo 3D using Tapatalk

I did use these instructions. Should I just go through those again?

Your obviously not following the instructions. hold volume down and power.. then go into fastboot. Plug in your phone and now it should say fastboot usb. From the command prompt navigate to the folder where you have teh fastboot and adb files. then type fastboot boot recovery.img
Recovery being the name of the recovery file in that folder "CWM****.img. Once you do that it will boot into clockwork recovery giving you fill access to write to the kernal. Now you need to flash the ROM of your choice.

I followed your steps. I am now at the teamwin recovery screen and menu. I went to my nandroid backup and am now installing this. I hope it works. I appreciate you help by the way and you were right, I guess I did overlook the step you mentioned

[Q] Boot into Recovery

Is it possible to cold boot into recovery? I used to be able to do it on my G2.
Just boot into the bootloader (power on + volume up) and then choose recovery from the menu.

Make sure to release the buttons right as the screen turns on... Takes a little timing but it works.
Thank you.
When ever i do this, i choose the bootloader option. then it takes me to the menu where i can choose the recovery option but before i get the chance to hit anything, it just starts to update. what should i do from here?
i then deleted pg05IMG.zip. i got to get to the point to hit recovery but when i do that it just boots right back into the bootloader it wont start up the recovery and it wont factory reset it. am i screwed?
sorry for the triple port. it says i have s-on. how would i turn s-off
are you rooted??? you need to root to get s-off
i am rooted but for some reason it says s-on right now and i dont have adb on this computer. how would i be able to turn s-off?
what method of root did you use? i used the "unlocked bootloader + permaroot" method by jcase and have never lost root or s-off.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=996616
did you leave the PG051IMG file on your sd card? if so your phone will look for it and try to update.
I used the easy root with no adb. i flashed a new rom and it froze at the startup screen. so i booted into the bootloader to get into the recovery but it wouldnt let me. it said updating so i let it update and it said "update failed. version to old. reboot device". i then deleted the file PG05IMG.zip so it would let me boot into recovery. but then it now says s-on andd it wont let me turn my phone besides booting into the bootloader. even the splash screen wont show up. it also won let me factory reset its just stuck in the bootloader. how should i precede here? is my phone bricked?
i did leave it on but after i realized it and took it off i had already let it try to update and it now says "mecha xd ship s-on"
yeah i've heard of problems using the easy root methods...seriously doubt phone is bricked...i think you can just put the stock PG051IMG on the root of your sd and flash in bootloader and you'll be back to stock. if you go to the andirc help channel someone there should be able to walk you thru it...there is a link in the op of the thread i gave you link to in earlier post.
ok thanks for all of your help

[Q] Please help, might be bricked?

So I recently rooted my sprint evo 3d by the hoot 1.50 method. that was all great until using the flash gui app i flashed a bad rom. ever since then, when I turn on my evo 3d only the white screen shows with the green htc letters, after that it goes to a black screen with the backlight still on and the buttons still lit. I have pulled out the battery multiple times and have even pressed the volume down and power button and have wiped cache and stuff, but still no luck. Please help! I CAN NOT be bricked or I will be screwed. thank you
Try flashing another rom, no? Do you have a nandroid you could restore?
Sent by Logo the turtle
I haven't tried flashing another rom, what rom should I flash? I'm totally new to rooting hah. And no I do not have a nandroid I could restore
If none of the answers people are going to post you could always restore back to stock using RUU.

If you are having issues with your current ROM. You could always run the ROM Upgrade Utility (RUU) found in the link below.
http://bit.ly/u3pMEN
Make sure to download the correct file.
(RUU_Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.17.651.5_Radio_1.06.00 .1216)
After it has finished downloading. Re-lock your phone.
Then run the RUU.exe
This will take you back to the Stock HTC 2.17.651.5 ROM.
DO NOT DISCONNECT YOUR DEVICE DURING THE PROCESS. IT COULD BRICK YOUR DEVICE.
Remember this will delete all your current data/apps so use TWRP on the android market to back up all your downloaded content. Only if your going to unlock you device again because you need to root your phone to use TWRP.

We've all been there and doesn't sound like you are screwed so you can probably relax.....lol. Flashing another rom should work since you don't have a nanddroid backup. Just follow the developers instructions exactly for which ever rom you choose. Also since on h-boot 1.5 you need to flash rom in fastboot not in flash image gui. That will only extract the kernel from the rom.
The only way I have ever flashed roms (yes it is monotonous, but it works) is using adb/fastboot. I would try sticking a different rom on your sd card and then booting into bootloader by holding vol - and power. once in that screen hit fastboot and then plug it into a computer. since you unlocked using the HTC method you kind of know what to do with this. find your android tools folder with your adb, fastboot, and recovery files in it. hold shift and right click the folder to open a command window here. once open type 'fastboot boot "nameofyourrecovery".img'. once this is done flash your rom and you should be okay. if not, download the 2.17 ruu exe and run it from your computer like said above.

EVO 3D Cannot Get Bootloader, Just Recovery...HELP!

I cannot get into regular bootloader. It just either sits and stalls, goes to HTC screen, or just straight to recovery. This has happened on and off before but I was always able to get it after a few tries. I've been trying for 2 days since the new ICS was released by Sprint but it's been no go.
I believe I have 1.5 Hboot, but I can't tell for sure because I can't access it. I had to take the long route when I had to root with the HTC unlock thing, etc.
I've tried to get to HBoot using QuickBoot app and using the menu option within TWRP 1.1 and now 2.2 (thought that might be the problem, but guess not)...still just stalls and nothing happens after reset
I've been using only rooted OTA's on my phone and only rooted for bloatware removal and wifi tether. No custom roms. No ICS leak.
The buttons of course work. As soon as I take my finger off of the Down volume button, the phone will activate and boot up normal in some cases.
I don't know if this is causing other issues with my phone as it self reboots or freezes a few times a week. I was looking forward to ICS update because I was hoping it would fix the reboots and freezing. Everything else works fine with the phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
try "adb reboot bootloader" and see if your phone gets into bootloader.

Don't you have to be in Bootloader to get the adb commands to work? I tried using fastboot to connect and no go.

Look under settings/battery or power saver and uncheck fastboot?
Then you can actually get into hboot.
AFAIK, adb commands work in android, fastboot commands work in bootloader.
just make sure USB DEBUGGING is checked in settings.
When that happens to me, I remove the battery for about a minute, put it back in, hold down volume down, then hold power. It will boot right to bootloader.

This caused a lot of trouble for me trying to flash MeanRom and Tribulattifather's ICS OTA with 4EXT because it kept trying to go into bootloader after the install to do the "smart install" or whatever. The phone would just black out upon reboot and sit there or if I tried doing bootloader manually, it would go straight to recovery again. I was up until 4 in the morning trying to get my phone to fully boot last night...never did.
Brought my phone to work today and left it off nearly all day. I thought I was seriously screwed and would have to do a RUU update/unbrick from work. Lo and behold it went into bootloader first try.
I'm restoring a backup now through TWRP 2.2 (because it doesn't have the smart install feature). We'll see if
What do you think is causing these problems? I don't want anything crazy...just a solid ICS rom or rooted OTA. Most ROMs I read suggest using 4EXT to flash, but I'm afraid of running into this again. Any suggestions or thoughts?
as mentioned above, installed the TWRP 2.2 from bootloader and restored a backup (that worked a long time ago). Now i'm having the same issue I had last night. It won't boot up at all except to recovery again.
For most people, being s-off is the best thing to do. S-on and ICS tend to bootloop. For some reason, 4ext and flash image GUI don't seem to work well in ICS either for some.
Have you tried flashing a GB ROM?

I'm going to have to figure out how to get back to complete stock. Everytime I flash a rom...doesn't matter what it is, the phone will say the flash is done, then reboot to...NOTHING...just a black screen. I've let it sit and nothing happens.
Followed a guide on androidcentral that had a nice restore to stock guide. Did the RUU from my computer and now it's acting normal again. It must've been really messed up because when I had it talking to ADB and did the reboot reloader command (as someone stated), the screen was solid black, though the RUU still saw it.

[Q] Cyanogenmod 10 won't boot into recovery

Hello all!
My HTC evo 4g lte will not boot into recovery! I recently flashed CM 10.0 and am now trying to boot back into TWRP recovery but with no such luck. I have tried all of the standard procedures (i.e. turn off, hold volume down and power...and reset to recovery via CM) and none of them seem to work. The phone just gives up and boots normally. I need to flash gapps but can't! Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

are u s-on or s-off? my quess your s-on
Correct...I am s-on at the moment.
is there an easy way to go S-off using a mac or is that even necessary?
s-off makes thing alot easier.. dont think u can on a mac tho?? i mite be wrong.. check the dirty racun thread out.. i kno on aosp rom if your s-on u have to flash the kernel spearate.. that mite be messing u up.. i would try and get s-off if i was u..
Best bet would be to run a copy of ubuntu live distro and following the directions for dirty racun
if your S-on it does depend on whether which hboot your running. i was running 1.12 hboot for the longest time without any problems. i just kept flashing and flashing no problems. if your on 1.15+ then yea s-off does help because you can flash stuff more easily.
as to your not being able to enter Twrp have you tried fastbooting and re installing TWRP? thats probably a last ditch effort though.
When your turning it on and holding the volume down button does it enter the boot menu and you just select recovery and it just doesnt go into TWRP or can you not even get into the boot selection area?

Try to boot to the bootloader first. Then select recovery. To get to the bootloader, hold power button down until screen shuts off, then hold down power plus volume down until bootloader screen comes up.

Thanks for all of your replies! I can get into bootloader although it is through a round about way...I have to first restart the device...let it start the rom and then hard reset it while holding volume down. Once in bootloader I am still unable to get into recovery. I have managed to get into recovery on a one time basis by re-flashing TWRP...however this only works once before I am unable to get back into recovery mode.
I do have Hboot 1.19...and I am guessing it is more difficult to get s-off with that new of a version but I will look into the dirty racun thread...
thanks again guys...any more direction would be appreciated!

So, back in da bootloader, what happens if you select recovery?

It acts like its going to continue on into recovery but then gives up and boots like normal...I also noticed that my mobile network no longer works...perhaps thats a separate issue. I need to look into it a bit further...

[Q] Probably bricked onex+

Hi.
Iv messed around a bit too much with my phone and im now at the stage where i am unable to get into recovery or factory reset with clockwork mod. all i can use is fastboot
when i start the phone up i get stuck in the HTC screen... iv previously tried pushing a rom to the phone then flashing the boot.img but iv royally screwed it up.
is there any way i can revive the phone from the position im in or is it game over?

I did basically the same thing a few days ago (I think). Have you seen Hasoon's toolkit? Install and open it and under the links section go for the stock RUU. Download and run it and all should be well.

Here's a link for the toolkit:
http://d-h.st/users/hasoon2000/?fld_id=7459#files
Download and install it, and then click on the RUU link. I know how you must be feeling man...it sucks to be the proud owner of a new $700 paperweight. From what I gather without S-OFF (which as far as I know isn't possible yet on the One X+) it's incredibly rare to completely brick a phone...so don't lose hope
Personally, I would go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2094118 and download the ruu that is applicable to your phone, then I would use hassons toolkit to relock your bootloader. Then boot phone into fastboot adb, and just run the ruu. I have seen it take two runs to work at times, but I've never seen a true brick. As long as the something lights up when you plug it in, ruu's will save you. then just start all over with unlock bootloader, root, flash recovery, and the rom of your choice.
Since HTC ONE X+ is still S-ON it is barely impossible to brick.
If you can reach bootloader (fastboot mode) then simply flash the correspondant Recovery, clear cache (fasboot erase cache) then unplug your USB cable press on Power button one time, Volume down one time time to select Recovery and validate by Power again, your phone should reboot in Recovery.

Did this get resolved, the RUU is an exe not a zip hasoon asks for a zip?
Can someone guide me please?

I too kinda bricked my hox+ evitareul i have cwm installed but my partitions are all formatted and cwm cannot mount system data or cache and adb side load won't work because of the partitions being erased...i unlocked at htc dev then flashed cwm in fast boot but i did it on a mac so i think thats what messed it up...when the recovery flashed it also formatted the partitions...idk why...Hboot can't scan for anything i get "can't mount usb master system" in hoot...recovery works fine but i can't flash anything...going to try a rue to get me back hopefully...Do you guys think it will fix me in my case? if it can fix me it definitely can help you^^^
It's probably not charging because your recovery might not support offline charging...I charged my hox+ by letting it boot into system even though there was no Rom...if you look closely when it boots the screen will dim and so will the red led in the speaker...when it dims it means it's charging and this works no matter what recovery or Rom you have but your screen will display HTC the entire time it's charging...took me about 45 minutes to get above 30% then I flashed the sense 5 rUU and now I'm back lol...hope I helped
