Stock experience more smoother? - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Is there any way to make the stock experience more smoother? That's the only reason I look at custom rooms

I guess it's all about the usage you make on your smartphone and what do you expect it to do for you.
This is relative.
I prefer my smartphone to be stable, reliable and fairly customizeable (if that's a word). Custom roms are quite good, I think. It's just the need to explore and customize more... that makes us look further.
Long story short: know your smartphone limits, deal with them, and if you want a fresh start try new launchers, themes, ecc.
Cheers.

Or use custom stock roms
Or bareboners
Those are just a few apps and high speed

Dxkt7/xwkt7.blackhawk .

I prefer stock...u will have lots of issue when using custom one...
Now i use:
- Stock xwks2
- Convert rfs system to ext4
- Some build.prop tweaking
- Currently running without any init.d script!
Smooth, battery life is better then custom rom...

2.3 ROM with best battery life?

I can see around 3 Gingerbread ROMs in the Optimus One dev section, most popular ones being Mik's and Andy's. I'm on void right now, very dissatisfied with the battery life, so I want to move on to a ROM with relatively better battery life, as well as with better theming options which CM7 has.
How are your experiences with Mik and Andy's gingerbread ROM? I'm very confused as there's another complication about 'franco's kernel' I keep reading about in the ROM threads. What exactly is a kernel and how does it differ from a ROM?
And more importantly, is all this kernel flashing etc. reversible in case I have to give my phone in for a warranty?
I'm not posting in those ROM threads because this is a fairly beginers' question and is better suited here.
Hi,
I'm not sure that 2.3 roms have a better battery life than 2.2 one yet (at least with 3G enabled).
A kernel makes the link between your hardware and the Android interface, whereas a rom includes a kernel, the android interface/framework, and some apps.
If you want to go back to stock rom, you just have to use KDZ-flasher.
with 2.3 roms u can get about 20-24 hours of moderate use
so it's up to u to if u want a 2.3 or a 2.2
as for theming u can theme both cause u can find themes for both of them as many as u want
and 2.3 roms are still in developing and they still have small bugs and if u can live with them then it's ok
do a nand backup of your current rom and try a 2.3

You're talking about theming for 2.2 via what method? Metamorph? I can't find many HVGA themes for Metamorph. Some links or something? On the other hand, In the XDA Themes section, I can find so many CM7 themes.
Hm yeah I guess I'll flash and see for myself.

[q] battery use explain

I was using my friend's Galaxy S and his battery use is showing Android OS, Android core apps and even every single application's battery usage. But my Ace wasn't showing any of these till today when I noticed Android OS and some applications I was using. Can someone explain why isn't Ace always showing these?
I'll post here until someone replies.
Lol ...I get those battery stats on my ace (CM7.2) ..if u wont those battery usage stats on..flash cm7 XD :-D btw is ur friend using a custom Rom??? And why the heck do u want them anyway???

Please tell me what stock ROM has what I need.
Actually I found that when I rooted my phone these details (Android OS, certain Apps etc.) started to appear in the stock-rom 'battery life' menu that came with the phone.

Best ROM for Xperia S?

What's the best ROM available atm? I've just bought the phone and I'm looking to flash something nice onto it
By 'best' I mean stable, best battery life and as clean as possible with no bloatware.
Could you please provide a tutorial on how to do it as well?
All help appreciated and thanks in advance!
See the dev section, and you have sticky thread that will help for all things related to flashing etc....
And for the best rom, I don't test anyone so can't say but I think you'll have to test them before find the best for you.

put on .73, root it, the fastest way for me is this:
- flash stock .73 (the one for your zone is right)
- unlock bootloaders
- flash doomkernel (autorootting kernel)
- boot and check root.
- flash stock kernel (unzip .ftf and flash kernel.elf)
once you have a yourcountryrootted .73 you can
- remove all the bloatware you don't need
- replace systemUi and Framework to get the very usefull toogle bar that i missed much from my old Samsung SGS1
- if you want replace semccamera
here you got your PERSONAL rom. as i got mine !
(this way to root is my personal way, that's becouse you can't make a prerooted img of .73 italian as you can't mount it as loopback partition... btw is better than the prerooted roms, just becouse you don't need to download megs and megs...)
Just as note... i don't blame doomkernel about anything... just i prefer to have the stock kernel becouse i use my phone also for business purposes and i need 100% sure stability, and i didn't got time to test doomkernel...
try XPeriaSspeed w/ doomkernel 9006
im super satisfied w/ it nice batt life quite fast as well.

Difference between ics roms

Hello,
i've seen many defferent roms all based on ics and i was woundering whats the big difference? i mean they all run the same system and have all the same feathers so why are there so many roms?
thanks
Customised as per the developers ideas .
You read the roms description posted for what's been removed added or themed .
Not all roms are based on ICS some are GB roms some are straight non Samsung ICS clones even direct Google Builds even an independent OS or two .
All cars are a box with wheels = same answer .
jje
Maybe so... but all cars have different panels hp and so
i've read some decriptions and they all seem very similar to me...
are there roms based on ics ( im not talking about gb) that really differ from each other?
Have you had Humburgers from Mcdonald and Burger King, same ingredients but different taste.....
There are many tweeks and tunings make the Rom different and stable...some devs have got magic touch for making their Roms outstanding...
hmmm you mean to tell me that different roms may influence the battery lifetime and stability of the phone?

In one word - "YES".
I played with various ICS ROMS, and can say based on experience that they all differ somehow - mostly its tweaks which influence overall performance (benchmarks - mostly CPU and SD card related), battery life, stability (no Force Closures) and various features (Beats Audio, silent camera with better FPS and enhanced image quality, call recording, preinstalled apps, removed bloatware, etc).
I tryed many and can advise to install either Lite'ning ROM v3.1 (via Odin), or Resurrection Remix ROM v1.9.1 - I had both and now run Resurrection Remix ROM - very happy ;]].
My advice - check both and use any you prefer with Apex Launcher - best performance vs. battery.
Don't forget that its very much about someone's experience as a ROM cook - if you are 18 years old and messing for fun, or you are a young (or not) professional (or getting there) and already learned a lot via fixed mistakes...;]]
Hope it helps.
ive seen some atricals that change of karnel may also improve the battery life...
can i flash any karnel i want with the roms i curently use? and will it help? or the only thing i can do to improve my battery life, camera each.. is to change the rom?

Mostly yes if compatible .

you need the basics start with Better Battery Stats thread and app .
But you would be better off reading the basics first .

I'm running the exact same rom but with the NOVA launcher because it feels alot smoother in contrary to the apex launcher. For me the reason to go for a custom rom is mainly battery life and lots of customization abbilities. Removed bloatware fix alot of battery drains present in stock roms.
Kernel I'd something that is gonna control ur CPU power and volts that battery can provide so yes it has a great impact on how ur battery performs.and each ROM is different in it's style, performance, stability and Addons it has to offer

[Q] mini pro for skype

Hi,
I am looking for buying a mini pro for my mother. Sie need it more or less just for video-skype, whatsapp, e-mail and taking and looking pictures.(in addiction to calling and sms)
Longest batterylife would be great.
Do I need to root or any special custom rom or kernel for this use?
I am happy for every suggestion.
Thanks for your help!
no need for custom roms and these stuff......
all those apps work in standard stock ROM.........
Is there any significant improvement of the batterylive with custom Rom or kernel?

Not necessarily, but you could unlock the bootloader and flash a custom kernel, mainly just to use over or under-clocking, and scripts for performance while saving battery, while staying on stock firmware.
Yes there is. . . But if you are not a heavy gamer or WiFi user then I thing the battery life with stock Rom is sufficient for you. . . It lasts a day. . .
