[Q] can i install this fruitcake on my atrix ? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

is there a proper fruitcake for at&t atrix 4g 4.5.91 ?
If i install this fruitcake will the "Unlocked" text disappear ? if it will disppear how will i be able to go to recovery ?

If you flash any fruitcake you will be fine. The unlocked text will NOT disappear, even if it does you will still be able to enter recovery.

Should have charged the battery...............should have let the phone boot up after flashing.............if you have issues now it's your own fault!

sometimes the bootanimation is disabled so the only thing you will see before the4 actual home screen is the Motorola 'M'. depends on roms.
Also applying a fruitcake is safe, sbfs, ehhh not so much anymore. However just because you flashed a zip from recovery doesnt mean its done. It still might need to unpack or set up, so the first boot after applying the mod might be delay a little.

It can take 15 minutes depending on the ROM and what kernel comes with it for a 1st boot after flashing.
Anyone who flashes on low battery and doesn't wait more than 1-1/2 minutes shouldn't be flashing at all!

Stuck at screen (God I hope I'm not bricked)

I think I may have a problem... I flashed the MR2.5 radio successfully, flashed GingerRemix 2.1 and had everything working ok (except for drawer, phone, and personalize buttons doing opposite operations) and then I tried flashing the MatteHD theme. Now I'm stuck at the black "das BAMF the Baddest!" screen. I've pulled the battery and gotten into Hboot but I can't change the options and get into recovery. All it does is go into the update option (like when flashing a new radio). PLEASE HELP
did you delete the radio PG05 file?
How long was it on that screen? I've never tried that ROM before but I have been stuck on a loaf screen for over 20 mins before .. let it sit for a while imo

Not after upgrading to MR2.5
delete the file off your microsd and then boot the hboot and you should be able to go to recovery from there cause in hboot its gonna search for that file but once it cant find it, itll let you choose the option to go to clockwormod

I'll try that. I'm gonna wait a few more minutes at this screen and see if it miraculously loads normally but I'm very doubtful it will. It does go through the initial bootup screen and a second screen/animation with no problems but at this third screen is where it is seemingly stuck. If it doesn't load I will definitely remove that radio .zip and attempt recovery again. Thanks a ton guys for your help. I'll keep you posted
Or just rename it so you don't have to redownload later
THUNDERBOLT
yeah you could always just remain it and stuff and yeah you should definatly try the renaming or deleting of the file to return to recovery. hope it works
I hope its ok man!
Update:
I renamed the radio file back to what it was and was able to get into recovery. I'm currently restoring a Nandroid backup so I should be back in business soon. HUGE relief. Thank you so much for the help. You guys are what makes this online community so incredible.
I bet you just had to wait. I've had that same screen take 15 or 20 minutes to load after flashing a rom or kernel before.

May have been the case possibly. I just wiped a few times and flashed dbamf 1.8 and it took about 10mins to boot or so I bet. Odd but I wasnt worried

Waiting didn't do it... I left it at that screen for over 2 hours (thank God for the extended battery). It was worth a shot. I think the Matte HD theme was the culprit.

[Q] Need help, would pay $$

So I'm a noob to this whole rom thing and i think that i am in over my head...
first i rooted using GingerBreak-v1.20.apk and not knowing what i was doing deleted some of the bloat (games). When I tried to do the bell gingerbread ota update i got the error. I tried to re install them but it didn't work.
So i decided to try to rom my phone.
First i unlocked using the Bell_Ihop from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261 which worked...
I then flashed a rom from ROM manager. It was ninja v0.3.4 (i think). It worked but i got a grey ? battery error... I didnt realize and my battery ran down. And while i cant be 100% sure yet i dont think my battery works any more (is that possible)
so i posted a Q on the forums and got an answer here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1251529
I borrowed a battery which let me turn on my phone but was still unknown...
I followed his answer and did a wipe. I decided i wanted alien so i flashed tanfer cmw recovery and flashed alien using that.
and I got stuck on the boot screen
so i did a wipe again and tried to reboot to bell stock2.2.2 and got an error so i did a reboot and i guess that the stock managed to reinstall the regular recovery..
and im still stuck on the reboot page...
so my question is I cant do anything cuz my battery doesnt work so i cant reflash cmw and I dont know anyone with an atrix to get a battery from (im pretty sure i outstayed my welcome in my local bell store, thats where i did all this)
Is there anyone in toronto that would fix this for me, i need this phone and i would pay for someone to do it for me cuz i cant do anything myself!! (And I'm a noob)
Thanks in advace...
first off, use this to charge your battery: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDtv7qKf8tQ
after you get a charge on your battery again, go into CWM and clear Data/Cache, and then go into Advanced Options and clear your Dalvik Cache.
after that, flash any ROM and try to boot up. if you get stuck into a bootloop, post back here and let us know.
you'll need to flash CWM again using Fastboot, i suggest Romracer's which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500
Thanks I will try this but I have a few questions
1. I did all this (the wipes and the flash) with tenfars, will this make a diff?
2. What tegrapart am I? (remember I cant boot into my phone to check through terminal emulator)
3. Now that I have been traumatized i just wanted to ask, on the alien site he says that it will take an unbearably long time to boot, how long should I expect to wait?
thanks for putting up with my "noobyness"
I don't know how to find your tegra part but it might take up to a few minutes the first time you boot. You'll know if you get a boot loop or not, the whole animation will do a major skip and start back from the start
And I know some people have problems with tenfar's. romracer's is just superior in my opinion.

You shouldn't, as long as all you're doing is flashing ROMs with cwm. All else fails you can just flash a different one.

I tried the battery trick and it caused the usb jacks on my computer to stop working... I also tried to charge with a different phone and it didnt work. I called Motorola and am getting a new battery...
Has anyone ever had this happen that a battery should stop getting a charge at all after a flash?
Buy a cheap wall charger and battery from ebay.

Friends Atrix and my inspire doing the same thing

So a friend of mine has an atrix and I have an inspire, and tonight I did the same things as he did. Ruined our phones.
Background
We both have rooted phones upon flashing a different rom to my phone it "bricked" it (i use that term loosely) Well upon boot up it would stay on the custom boot image that I installed. His was doing the same thing not going past the boot nor going into Clockwork.
Well upon looking around the inspire forums I found a PD98IMG file that took my phone back to the original setting like it was out of the box. I just had to do the normal power+volume down button it and it located the file and extracted everything. Now my inspire works like it was (thank god for backups of previous roms prior to flashing LOL)
Now the question and the reason I am posting in this forum. Is there something like what I used to help my friend get his Atrix working again? I was thinking this would work but not sure. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009 and this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125944 would this work to get his phone past the boot so he can get his phone working again?
Provide more info on his problem please...

his is the same as mine was. power on and it stays on the main boot screen. according to him he cant get past the boot screen nor into his bootloader same issue I had.
Sounds like a boot loop. Read on it.

That's not a boot loop if it just stays on the screen and doesn't reboot over and over.
Is his bootloader unlocked?
What ROM is he running?
Custom kernel?
Any text on the boot logo screen?
How was new ROM flashed? (Fastboot, CWM, SBF, etc.)
Can CWM be accessed by holding the volume down button as the phone powers on?
Don't flash anything via RSD.

Have him try to flash the SBF again, plugging the USB cable into one of the "back" ports on the computer. Also make sure the battery has a good charge before hand.
Also using another computer may help. Sometimes it's as simple as the USB port you/he was using.

Restore to stock

I'm sorry if the answers to my question have been answered but I can't find them after searching for a few days.
I need to send my Atrix in for a repair or replacement. It is unlocked and rooted running Turl's CM9 right now. Obviously I can't send it back as is, so how should I go about everything?
Flash an SBF, flash a fruitcake rom, or something else that I haven't stumbled upon?
The only threads I could find are from a year ago and so much has changed since then. I just want to be sure I go about this the correct way. And should I go through ATT or Motorola? I know my phone is still under warranty with both.
Thanks for any help! It is much appreciated!
"Always have an exit strategy"
You can flash a fruitcake but the "unlocked" text will remain so you can hope for the best.
Or you can try an SBF (Disclaimer: at your own risk).
How long have you had it? Usually if you have had it for more than 30 days AT&T won't help but if you are still under "warranty" with them I would try AT&T first.
If you can't find a way to return your phone back to stock you can try Motorola, they might just overlook the modifications you have done.... or they might charge you a service fee...... or they might just send the phone back to you. It really depends on who ever is processing your claim and the mood they're in.
Also, please don't start multiple threads on the same topic.

I had restored a few times to stock.
I do that:
Reboot in fastboot mode and fastboot - w, fastboot erase system, fastboot erase cache, fastboot erase preinstall.
Turn phone off and pull out sim card and sd card.
Reboot in rsd mode (olding vol+ at boot) and flash your sbf with rsd lite.
That's all.

Ok, you don't happen to have a stock sbf file? I can't find one anywhere.
Also, why is it that we shouldn't flash sbf files? It seems that people have success with them but everyone keeps saying not to do that. But I can't find a stock flashable zip and the fruitcake links are dead so sbf seems to be my last resort.
I'm just stuck scratching my head because of all this confusion?

Look in the firmware superthread, in the last pages someone have a link in his sign to a page of many stock sbf files. I found there my updated one.
I always got succes with rsd lite but only with a full wipe with fastboot before it say "pass" at the end. Otherwaise it say to 'manually reboot'.
Don't know why people say "do not use sbf", probably there is a reason, but i think it is the only way to remove the 'Unlocked'
Here links to froyo sbf
and to GingerBread sbf
also you need to delete any folder about apps that need root to work and su folder and anything that presume you have rooted your phone

Depending on what build you are currently on you do not want to "downgrade". So if you are on a Gingerbread build (4.5.91 or 4.5.141) do not flash the Froyo SBF. And probably if you are on the 4.5.141 build (2.3.6), it is not recommended to flash the ".91" build. That is where the issues can occur.
I have also used RSD Lite to flash back to stock (a few times) but always use caution. So, for @scarbutt11, do you happen to remember what build you were on before you unlocked the bootloader and flashed a custom ROM?

Yeah, it depends on what "Official" build you were last on. Since you were on "4.5.91" then I would just use that SBF. Like someone else mentioned, it is possible to use RSD Lite, just use caution.

[Q] Reset to fully stock

So i purchased an atrix 4g off of eBay, and it has a few Root applications on it, but isn't actually rooted.
The android recovery mode is also broken, i get an android robot with the Attention symbol. Would post a link to one i found on the internet but i cannot since i am under 8 posts.
The phone was on 2.3.6 build # 4.5.141 when i received it. and i have done nothing to it so far.
So maybe someone applied OTA updates and killed the root or something, idk.
in the end the end i would like to root it with some ISC.
So is there anyway i can Reset everything to stock out of the box. Or to fix the problems with recovery?
Also for now it wont really be used as a phone, as i don't have a sim yet.
To cover the basics here let's make sure the phone isn't bootloader unlocked or rooted. To check bootloader, when you boot the phone, does the moto screen say "Unlocked" in top left hand corner of the screen? If not, it isn't. Then for root, check it with the app root checker basic or pro from market. Get back to the thread once you can answer those questions and then I will post something to help you with the getting ics.
Sent from my Atrix with XDA Premium
Both of those come up as a no So no unlocked boot loader and no root
Try this but you know the risks of messing with the phone right??? Read EVERYTHING before you do. Your phone says a different version of firmware than the thread but if you look back in the posts of the thread in the end, it will work. You can also read the Atrix thread stickies.
Edit.... having trouble posting link ... give me sec.

Have you flashed a different ROM for the time being to at least have a working phone? Like a blur or cm7 ROM?
Sent from my Atrix with XDA Premium
Thats is what i was going to try next, i havent got to it today.
Are you flashing plugged in? Try flashing the rom without having your phone plugged in.
Also, if you're at the M logo screen, I suggest waiting it out for quite a while. Be patient. I used to think when I flashed roms that I was stuck at M logo, but I just wasn't waiting long enough, especially coming from a full wipe.
Otherwise, try doing a battery pull and then putting it back in and booting it up.
You can also try using Nottachtrix with the installer? I've heard that fixes a lot of people's problems that are getting stuck at logo screen.
well right now it seems that the battery is dead and wont charge....
So im not sure what im gonna do about that
Ok so im installing NottachTrix now will report how it went when done.
Also about leaving it on to boot, i did that for 24 hours, nothing happened
Edit:
It seems to be working so far. The phone is stuck at a charging screen with a battery icon, much more than it was before.
