Which version of ICS gapps to use? v8 or v11?
Heard people had issues with v11?
I was going to install the buttah ICS ROM but wanted to make sure I get the right one installed...
On another note... Any update on Flash / Video playback?
The gapps versions after about 7 don't have any major fixes really. And v11 only really adds the new Google TOS (Terms of Agreement). There's no harm in trying v11 with a full wipe plus you still might have to flash the gapps fix file as well. If it doesn't work then go with v8. And reading the forum helps too.
And about your flash issue, that is not fully functional yet. So no Netflix or YouTube HD.
Samsung Captivate CM9 - Glitch Kernel | HP TouchPad CM9 - Bricked Kernel
Until the devs get the hardware decoding issue fixed for video youtube, etc will not work with HD content. If you really want to have that you should stick to CM7 or XRON 2.9.1 for now.
I am using v11 with CM9 and not going back to CM7

I used an older gapps version: gapps20111230
no need for the fix and everything works.
installed that with cm9 0.5.
I uses v11. Calendar won't sync with my email. Tries everything but still nothing.

Did you wipe cache and dalvik cache before the gapps v11 flash plus gapps fix flash?
Samsung Captivate CM9 - Glitch Kernel | HP TouchPad CM9 - Bricked Kernel
yup, also cleared dalvik cache and reinstalled and still nothing, in accounts and sync instead of saying sync calendar, it says sync om.android.calendar and when I tick it it gives an error saying sync is down, try later, but the rest sync, like G+, Gmail, etc...

That's strange, I was running a GAPPS IML74K-010112 and couldn't get my outlook exchange calendar to sync. I flashed v11 over it, wiped the calendar/calendar storages, applied GAPPS fixer, and the calendar started working.
Did you delete the email account first, wipe calendar data, then try it again?

I was running:
Bamf remix 1.6.3
black battery mod
aosp contact/dailer transparent mod
Everything worked fine!
I updated to:
bamf remix 1.7
reflashed black battery mod
reflashed aosp contact/dailer transparent mod
com.google.process.gapps FC every time I try to (auto or manual) sync contacts.
I've reflashed 1.6.3, 1.7, no mods, one mod, dalvik wipe, data wipe, deleted cache, cleared data, htc account, no htc account...
tried it all. STILL no contact sync w/ same FC.
fix it and I buy you coffee/beer via paypal

sorry for thread placement. move it if you wish.

did you try re-downloading the ROM? There's always the chance that you got a bad download
no, but i did try restoring back to the good* 1.6.3
the first problem was a popping sound during calls, but a reflash of anything not 1.7 fixed that. the second problem was audio would not record just after i did the first 1.7 flash
the final problem was (everything else works perfect) that contacts will not sync
EDIT:
*good as in sync worked. all the other problems popped up out of nowhere on 1.6.3, so i updated to 1.7 to see if it was a rom issue. 1.7 wouldn't sync contacts, 1.6.3 gives me no recording and popping in my ear on calls

Are you flashing your ROM's from ROM manager or from recovery? ROM manager has been on the fritz lately, so I would definitely recommend doing everything from recovery.
- Download 1.7 from xda, move .zip to sdcard, and check md5 sum.
- Reboot to recovery, clear cache, factory reset, and then install .zip from sdcard.
If that doesn't clear things up, I don't know what to tell ya.
Hi, I'm new to CM7.1.0 on my Verizon Samsung Fascinate ED05. It installed fine, and I flashed the gapps available.

I cannot add any accounts via Exchange. Hotmail. Live. Msn. Google. Yahoo... Nothing works. It Gives me an error:
(Setup could not finish
Unable to open connection to server.)
I'm trying to add Gmail accounts. All my contacts and calender info is backed up and synced to my Gmail. I've managed to import my contacts via vCard, and I can make phone calls, surf the internet, and text... Emails are nonexistent.
Can someone help me plz? I love CM... but it looks like I'm unable to use it?
Thank you.

Ok... it's a good thing I have Titanium Backup. I ran into the problem before so I backed up all my google services. With a little trial and error...meaning, I had to flash CM7 a few times to get the backup sequence right... not all google services can be used on CM7... I managed to fix this huge whole in CM7.
I installed:
Setup Wizard 1.3 (not included in CM7)
google backup sync (not included in CM7)
Android Market (not included in CM7)
It works so far.
I think the best place to start would be to re-flash Gapps, or if that doesn't work, try a data wipe and repeat the initial setup process. I have flashed CM7 MANY times(too many to count) and had all manner of problems getting it to run when we were still on unofficial releases but have not had any problems since the stable release. Let me know what ends up working for you.
Make sure your flashing gaaps in the right recovery. I flashed it in the wrong one and it didn't stick, so I used the power button, reboot into recovery and flashed it that way ans it worked.

Thanks guys.
I flashed originally in cwm-recovery-ALL.tar which is 2.5.7.1 I think. Orange. It's very stable and works great... but when CM7 boots up, and I go back into recovery... it's the recovery that comes with CM7 which is 5.0.2.6 Blue.
All the flashing seemed to work. I just had a hell of a time getting the Titanium Backup sequence installs on the google services that I need to get the accounts working and synced.
Thank God for Titanium backup.
I don't understand fully why CM7 won't include the google account setup wizard. Someone told me it's illegal? So what... rooting the phone voids all warrantees anyway.
Whatever. I got it working. There are still a few bugs I need to log and report, but so far... I'm finally running CM7 at 1400SetCPU.
try this
go here and download Gapps for you and you will have all the acounts back: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1386680:cool:

"And the speaker loudness on call i think is fixed" -- No it isn't.. Hope it does!
Hey All,
This is really driving me up the wall.
Youtube is not playing videos at all whether it is through the app or chrome browser. This started about a week ago. All i am getting is the never ending loading Circle
At first i thought it was the newest version that just came out on 1/8, but i rolled back to my previous version using Titanium and same ish.
I tried a lot of the basics.
1- uninstall/reinstall, clear data, cache on app.
2- did the default wipe in TWRP recovery
- reinstalled rom/gapps - Carbon ROM - phone was setup with minimal settings to just test youtube (been running the ROM since Nov)
- no change
4- did another wipe, this time an advance version which included cache, dalvik cache, system, internal storage, data
- no change
Nothing improved and doesn't even play the ads (I did have ABP installed but keep in mind that i have now completely wipe and only installed GAPPS and setup one email account to download youtube from playstore) This really should be working now...
Tonight i will try either an older version of the rom or a completely different one but i rather not.
anybody have anything???
I too am having the same problem. It does work on WiFi, but not on 4g.

Did I break my Tablet...?
I am a big PACman fan and have been using the rom on every one of my devices. I am also not new to rooting and flashing procedures and have done them on different devices many times including updating hundreds of times. PACman was quiet for a while but has started up again since August, so I was really looking forward to that until I had following problem:
1. Installed the newest rom with a factory reset beforehand.
2. Setup the device as usual.
3. Opened gmail --> Stuck on "Getting your messages"
4. Tried calendar, contacts and google music without success, as they display neither my music, contacts nor my calendars.
5. Drive and Maps are working though...
I have now done the following:
- Reverted all the way back to stock 4.1, rooted and upgraded to 4.4.2 stock.
- Flashed boot.img from PAC rom and installed it with gapps. Everything went perfectly.
- Added my google account during the setup process, opened gmail --> stuck on "getting your messages"
- Added a second google account, which is also not syncing.
Before this I already tried using different gapps (PA, CM, Banks), doing a playstore and play services reset. I am really not new to this and this is the 5th device I own that I rooted and installed custom roms on. My phone has PAC and is working flawlessly. I'm really lost here and would appreciate any ideas or help.
Rom versions I tried: nightly from 12th, 18th and 323rd with clearing cache and dalvik after install.
Gapps: Banks, CM and PA gapps 11th, 18th
When installing AOSB project, everything works flawlessly!
Something I am missing here? Please help!! This is getting so frustrating...
PS: Here are three screenshots of how it looks like (weird is that there are no timestamps in the sync tab)

the problem is in P.A.C ROM builds or in Gapps.

PAC rom can't be the problem, as all other users report no errors. I have tried different Gapps (always checked MD5 sums...) and this issue doesn't resolve. I am looking for any new ideas on the issue.
Personally I cannot explain the issue myself
So if anyone has an idea, please help!
Search for another boot.IMG, there have been issues with the cm boot and wifi modules, maybe the same with the PAC boot.IMG low/ connectivity would explain the lack of sync time stamps
