[Q] Direction - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

I just got the second Flyer to play with Rooting etc. safe to say that despite my technical willingness I am a noob in the phone rooting and custom rom area.
I prefer HC and ultimately would want to install ICS if/when available on this second unit beit stock or custom.
My question is what would you suggest as the path for me to take to be in the best position to use this device to learn and take advantage of all of the enhancements you guys offer and position myself for ICS
Thanks...
Bob

HC leak and the View?

Anybody know if the any of the honeycomb rom's would work on the view? I am assuming that the 4G would not work unless the drivers were present but I don't know what else is different so I don't know if it would be too much of a difference to run on a View.
Us View owners just don't get any love do we? Did you ever find anything out. I would think the HC leak would work since if I recall right, it was a leak from a View wasn't it?
Are there even any View Custom Roms available yet?
I don't think there are any for us yet. What I really wish there was was a forum for us andi hate to beat a dead horse but I don't think there will be one any time soon. That sucks

Ouch guys, talking like my rom doesn't exist

Don't feel that way. I for one am thankful for the custom rom's that you have released. This wasn't meant in that way. I have been asked this same question by view users that I know and I figured if anybody would know, this would be the place to get the answer. I personally am not that anxious for honeycomb. I have just started trying to develop and theme for GB and I am not in a hurry to change to a newer rom.
I was just kidding guys. As soon as they fix the tools for theming, my rom (and everyone elses probably) will go custom ;-)

Official HC RUU?

I may be getting the BBY Wifi Only Flyer for christmas and I'm wondering how to update it to HC officially. Not really interested in S-Off due to the limited deving for this device.
You cannot do it except by using Globalton's S-OFF method because the models won't match the current RUU. But the S-OFF method works absolutely perfect on the BB Wfi, so why wait?
OK. Sounds good. I really don't wanna use GB and get used to everything just to have it change in a few weeks. I may try that method. We'll see if the HC OTA actually comes any time soon.
A couple of people on this forum are really tapped in to HTC's releases, we will have it here before it ever hits OTA. In the meantime, enjoy what we have, it works very well. If you are into high-end games, HC can cause some incompatabilites, but that is also true for other tablets like the Acer A100. Many developers assume if you are tunning HC you have a 10 inch tablet.
Would you suggest staying on GB or going to HC?
I love HC compared to GB, but I do not do a lot of gaming. I use the Flyer more for business and email. I use the pen. I like the stock browser.

DigitalMD, do you know how to set the user agent to desktop in stock browser? Every attempt, some sites still show up in mobile view...

digitalMD, choosing easy Globaltron HC method, means I can downgrade to GB versus LeeDroid v3.1 method? thanks.

[Q] Root Gingerbread > ICS, is it worth it.. yet?

Ok, so I just got my HTC Glacier and was contemplating rooting it to do ICS.
Now on gingerbread, as far as I know, you have to downgrade back to froyo just to get root before you can even begin.
Is it worth the hastle yet?
Would it be more wise to wait for the final ICS version with full camera support and other minor bugs ironed out and also maybe an easier root method not requiring the froyo downgrade?
Is that even planned in the near future? (root from gingerbread)
Go for it. The downgrade isnt tht bad.

hi
for me runs ics on SGA perfect but i dont need the camera. take a look if it is okay for you to live with bugs
I'd wait for better ICS ports, probably till CM9 release. They're quite buggy for now especially on HTC phones.
Downgrading won't be too much of a hassle since you're going to have to wipe your device anyway to flash ICS. The question is whether you mind that the ROMs are still pretty buggy and have missing functions, and that's one you can only answer yourself.
I would go for ICS it is worth it
Yea its ready for prime time

There will not be another root method for the Glacier that will not require downgrading to Froyo. The phone will not get official ICS. The only issue with ICS on the glacier is the camera, but once the CM devs figure that out, the fix well be implemented probably the same day. So even if you don't want to use ICS, you should still downgrade and root to take advantage of the great gingerbread ROM's out for that phone.

Honeycomb update on my htc evo view question.

Sup everybody. I just did the HTC software update and now I have honeycomb 3.2. I hate the new interface and don't understand why they made such a change to it or don't give you the option to go back to the old interface.
My question is why the hell did they downgrade the sense from a 3.0 to a 1.1 on the honeycomb update? That makes no sense (pardon the pun). Anybody know why this is and is there a way to go back to gingerbread without rooting?
As far as I know Sense 3.0 was for phones running Gingerbread. Sense 1.1 was for tablets running HC. Until the unification of ICS, I guess the Sense UI had 2 development paths, phones & tablets.
Just a guess

I felt the same way. Rooted and downgraded back GB, prior to that I had been updated on HC for a few months. After switching back, I realized that the overall functionality of HC was much better. Using cypher custom Rom on stock kernel, plenty of free memory, quick, give it a try.
Other then that, start learning to cook up your own custom Rom, de sense it how you like. I say this cuz as you may have noticed the View's development is quite starved. We need more contributions.

[Q] Hasoon All-In-One Kit

So, I'm going to start off by saying, I'm a complete noob when It comes to Rooting. I'm quite an experienced jailbreaker, but when It comes to this, I feel like a fish out of water.
I was browsing around and found the Hasoon (or Hassoon?) all-in-one kit for my phone, the HTC Amaze 4G for T-Mobile. My main question, since this kit claims to be noob-proof, is when I do this, will CM10.1 be installed? Or does this JUST root my device, and not install any ROMs. I am wanting a vanilla Jelly Bean experience. Of course right now, I'm running 4.0.3 with Sense on top, but my mom just got a phone with vanilla Android, and It's making me a little jealous. It's time to fix this.
This is my first post here at XDA Developers, and I would just like to say thank you to everyone who has made this site possible. I use it near every day.

Oh Sorry I've got 4.0.3. Typo. Since It only gives me root access, how would I go about getting the Vanilla 4.2 on there after I rooted? Thanks.

well since your already on ICS all you have to do is flash 4EXT or which ever recovery you like (i personally recommend 4ext) enable smart flash and flash any rom your like within the dev section and READ THE INSTRUCTIONS and thread aswell to get a idea bout that specific rom
