RMA'ing my Prime - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hi there.
Here's what happened so far: Bought my Prime appr. 4 weeks ago, upgraded to ICS out of the box, never rooted. 1.5 weeks ago my tablet started to just switch off several times a day. I had to wait for a few minutes before I could reboot if I didn't plug in the power cord (no, the battery was fine; > 80%). Last weekend my Prime finally gave up and wouldn't even take a charge. I couldn't turn it on, no haptic feedback, no signs of charging (aka dead power LED). The power supply is fine, my dock would charge as it is supposed to do.
I was trying basically everything I could read of, power button for 30 seconds, vol down+pwr button, reset button with a paper clip ... I left it on power supply for two days straight, no charging going on. Essentially, it's a paper weight and I never did anything to it like fishy apps, rooting, modding. Just your regular user.
So I contacted Tech Support today and they told me to have it picked up. I'm waiting for the confirmation mail and a pickup time right now. Will keep you posted, just in case somebody is reading this .
C1OKAS serial, ICS 4.0.3, .11 firmware.

Hi,
if you live in Germany, your Prime is going to be send to Asus Service Center in Czech Republic. I sent my Prime for RMA at 2012/01/09 and still waiting for it to be returned....
Regards,
Pletwal

First update!
My Prime will be picked up tomorrow by UPS and get shipped there:
Wistron InfoComm (Czech), s.r.o.
ASUS Service
K Letisti 1792/1
Slapanice
66451
CZ
Apparently, there's no repair facility in Germany.
Edit: Just saw pletwal's reply. He was right .
Edit 2: My RMA number starts with "CZ". Hint hint?

Same here in DK, they are sent same place.
Mine is also bought from Amazon DE..

when did you send yours?
is your Prime already repaired and sent back to you?
Regards,
pletwal

.. I was only replying that also from DK they will send it to CZ.
Mine is not sent yet... waiting for next DE firmware.
This should may improve WiFi/BT issue.. if not it will be sent.

Has anybody RMAed the Prime for WiFi and BT issue, and got it back fixed from Wistron InfoComm repair center?

[Q] Touchscreen Calibration?

Anyone know how to re-calibrate the touchscreen on Touchpads? 1/4 of my screen isn't responding or will be off when it does respond to input
I'd probably just suggest a hard reset on it.
Just quoting someone else on this:

Same thing happened to me. Traced it to a USB power adaptor that didn't produce enough power. Does it still have deadspots when:
a. On battery
b. On the official HP charger

This is the exact same behaviour I had but since you don't answer the questions we ask it's impossible to help you.

Ah sorry, yes I've done everything.
Even did a full erase reset.
And it behaves exactly the same way on battery and on the official HP charger?

Yes, actually did first setup w/o charging it first. Noticed that left side of keyboard wasn't letting me input certain letters.
Someone had a touchscreen issues after using WebOS Doctor to restore the tablet. All I can suggest it try to reflash with Doctor and see if it helps the situation, other than that it would look like you have faulty hardware
do a firmware reflash via sd card
Are you trolling? There's no SD card on a Touchpad.
Well talked to HP, and they told me to either return it to where I bought it (Office Depot), which I promptly told em that I'm pretty sure they won't have any in stock to replace it. Or send it back for repairs, and they have to decide if it was a manufacturer defect or user damage...
So I went ahead and got a repair ticket, I'd be so pissed if they will charge me to fix it if the damage was caused by shipping & handling from the stores...
I have the exact same issue. I have opened a ticket and will send my device in for repair. Please respond on how HP handles the case.
After I chatted with support and made the ticket, they sent me an overnight UPS package box with instructions which I sent in the same day I received the box that Friday. Didn't get the e-mail stating they were sending me a box till the next Monday though after they had already received the package...
They sent the repaired Touchpad on Friday that the same week, and I scheduled to get it next Tuesday, so Overall it's been exactly 10 days since I shipped it off my Touchpad for repairs.
Everything seems to have gone very smoothly, thank god they didn't charge me.
I have the same issue that the right most part seems to be not that responsive.
The right 1/4th part of the screen seems to bit of having calibration issues. It is like the launcher icon needs to be clicked on bit left side than the actual icon to make it work.
What can i do ? Any solution ?

[Q] Brand new Transformer Prime not turning on

So I just got my shipment from bestbuy and i open the box, try to turn it on and it doesnt. I charge it for 5-6 hours and see a green light on the power button steady so I unhook from the charger and try to turn it on and it doesnt. I hold the power button for few seconds, it vibrates but doesn't turn on. Can anyone provide any insight on what's going on? Is this device defective?
Have you taken it out for a nice seafood dinner yet? Remember, you have to treat it nicely and make it feel special before you get what you want from it.
....Yes, it's obviously broken, return it for a working one.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk
If it vibrates, that means that it has booted, but if you see nothing, it's most likely your display.
Eek =(
I'd say let it charge a lil more. Of it still doesn't cut on,Exchange it immediately. don't even wait. Its supposed to be charged for 8 hours on first use. Lots of primes shipped with low battery or dead ones. zif the next couple of hrs. it don't cut on, just take it back. No reason for you to deal with the Hassel. let us know how it goes or if it ends up booting up. There were others in your position and after a good long charge, it booted up. After that prime charges from 0-100% in 2-3hrs. it charges up very fast. good luck

As a matter of fact, OP, EXCHANGE IT RIGHT NOW. DONT WAIT. someone could have dropped your prime n it knocked the connection to display loose. keep us posted.
Possibly.
I would post a link, but can't.
Google

In the Manual section, download and read the
Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF201 FAQ (English)
I can't cut and paste from the damn PDF... it's locked down.. lol
Good luck!

There is a tiny hole to hard reset it on the side, you could try that. Also, this thread has people with the same issue but theirs was resolved in an hour or two after it was charged.

This is the thread I found out about the hard reset hole.

I would try those things and then decide if you want to wait overnight or return it. If they have stock right now I would get there quick and return it.
Try holding the power button in for like a full minute once too. Your instinct will be to remove your finger after the vibration but just keep holding it.
Yea, i think thats what happened. F'in Bestbuy sent it in an enevelope w/o any kind of padding. The UPS guy threw it on my porch from about 10ft away so I am sure the display got damaged.

Rule number 1: We don't use Best Buy.
Rule number 2: We don't use F#*KING Best Buy.
And please make a point of reporting the UPS guy, even though he will probably get a medal for such terrible service as it seems that's what UPS strives for.
I got mine from bb a couple of weeks ago and same thing it wouldn't turn on. Dont bother with support. Just return it. I had no problem returning. The only issue is the dont have another to give you. Ordered mine through another company and this one is working fine. Good luck.
My second Prime done through OMS order came in a box with plenty of padding, though it came from the Ohio warehouse. The first primes not OMS was from California with the bubble wrap lined envelopes. Of course I have to send this prime back for 3 light bleeds.
Hm, looks like I am in the same boat. I even went as far to get Black Tie since the girl had kept an eye out and remembered me since December. Guess I have to take it back and take notes by hand in class tonight.
Update:Called back. Girl said that their display took hours to charge before it turned on. Oh Boy. They don't have another one coming for days so I guess there is no damage in waiting for it to get a SUPER charge. -sigh-
Update number 2: After college class my Prime sat on the charger for a total of 4 hours. It is now turned on fully, showing 100% battery life, and is about to get rooted.
My complaint here is, after makeing us salivate and wait so dang long they expect us to wait even longer to charge it!!. I must say Indignation! lolz. Now to find a Keyboard dock.

Asus prime Black screen issue need help

Dear Friend,
i just received my asus prime befor 2 weeks and i have slightly use it normal used. and just yesturday i got this black screen with white lines. i dont know why and how but its always there even wail booting.
i think the internal cable for the screen discounted i have open the prime but i did not found any lose cable please advice me. i have attached for you the photo.
also while i am searching for simular problem i found someone upload a video with same issue so that's common problem with asus prime.
Seeing as you've already opened it, I assume you've unplugged/plugged in the video cable, or at least checked it is properly in there?
If so, an issue with the screen itself or with the nVidia chip, maybe MoBo?
Can you hold the power button and feel the device actually power on/off? Maybe try plugging it in via mHDMI to a TV to see if the tablet is actually functioning?

If you hold the power down after about 10-15 seconds it should vibrate. This should indicate its cold booting. If it does not then you have an additional problem besides the screen. The screen lines from my experience with LCD panels is either going connection issues or damaged ribbon cable or the connectors on either the LCD or the circuit board. You can also check if its turning on completely by plugging it into your PC via usb and see if it'll recognize it. But ya your best bet is to send it in.
i am from outside the US. just before few days i ship the asus prime. and yesterday i have received a call from the shipping company that they need to charge me 60$ for Tax. i want there and pay for them. i was very supprize its used product and i just send it for repair !! so its cost me 2 much to ship it and tax and return the shipment again. i hope that asus will solve the problem quickly.

[Q] ASUS RMA Questions

How long does an RMA take to fix wifi, camera and mura (excluding shipping)?
I've sent mine in but the status just says 'Product repair is in progress.--'
Does ASUS do anything to fix/improve wifi (really bad signal on mine) or do they replace the tablet with a refurb?
Thanks

it depends on where you live,
but it can range from a few days to even a couple months (from what i've seen at least)
in canada typically it takes about 2~4 days for me at least
And do they replace or fix the prime?

I just got my RMA back today and can verify that they fix, not replace the Prime. I sent mine in for the green camera issue. The thin strip of metal above the usb/dock port had cracked and I had expected them them to contact me saying I had to pay for that repair (or hoped they would simply replace the whole prime for the green camera issue). They did neither, as promised they fixed the camera and sent it back promptly.

I sent mine in for the camera fix. It took about 6 days and they actually sent me a different one.
It's been 5 business days, wondering whether I should call them and ask what the progress is..
they Received mine on the 17th for Green Camera and WIFI issues today its back with DHL ready to be shipped back, repair was finished yesterday.
So that's a 5/6 day turn around time including the weekend.
So ASUS has just completed the repair according to their website.
Received: 2013/01/16
Completed: 2013/02/08
They said it would take long because they have to import the camera module.. Why can't they use faster shipping? It doesn't take 3 weeks to import one tiny part...
They haven't called/emailed telling me it's been finished, and they're probably going to take their time getting it shipped back to me, and *I* have to pay for shipping. I'll call them on Monday..
Just received my tablet today...
And...
Wifi is worse. Other issues have been fixed. The wifi no longer connects without pressing down on the bezel at the top on the right and left side. And when you press the bezel down, it makes an annoying noise as if something isn't seated. Then by looking at the screen from the corner, it isn't even seated down fully. It's still slightly sticking up. I am extremely dissapointed with ASUS.
So I was without my tablet for a month, and they haven't even fixed the main problem.
They replaced motherboard, screen, camera.
Sent mine RMA for bad back camera, dodgy wifi and poor to no GPS, some performance issues.
They changed the motherboard, the screen and the camera, i got it back 6 days after sending it and it was locked to JB but with a different working serial (i was able to unlock)
Wifi is much the same, GPS still doesn't work, camera works a charm and the bloody screen around the edge appears to not be together properly, device does perform a bit better but it's still not right, i'm looking for something else.
Not the people to be inspiring confidence are asus, saying that it was a quick turn around.

Help! My le max 2 is seemingly beyond hard bricked

I recently flashed a custom rom for the first time, everything went smoothly and I was installing apps after booting into the new rom, when suddenly the screen went black and the phone stopped responding. It's not responding to power button + volume up or power+ volume down.
It doesn't get detected as anything while I connect it to my PC, so I can't try the Qualcomm drivers Unbrick guide
I had 80%+ charge when the phone died
ROM was OmniRom and OpenGapps arm64 7.1 micro
I was logging into Amazon app when it died
And I had just turned on Bluetooth a couple of minutes before the incident
I tried leaving the phone charging for 48 hours, still no response . Tried holding down all button combos for more than 3_4 minutes.
What might have happened?
The chip got fried?

In such a case, I'd return the phone if it's under warranty, and demand a refund.
If it was paid through Paypal, they can help with it. Just open a dispute for an item received but too different from advertised (because it's defective), explaining the problem, and, even better, adding a video. Then, wait for two days and, if there's no reply from the seller, just escalate the dispute to a claim and let Paypal decide.
Last time I did so, Paypal decided I deserved a refund. The phone started malfunctioning three months after purchase and Paypal chose to refund me. I had recorded a video an uploaded it to Youtube, to show the defect.
Paypal told me to return the goods to China, to an address given by Paypal (never send to the one the seller may give you, since they sometimes give you a different one, not the address they registered with Paypal).
I sent the phone via registered mail, and gave Paypal the tracking number. Once the seller informs Paypal of the reception, they refund you. And if the seller doesn't reply, it's Paypal that checks the tracking number, and if they see the returned item has arrived, they close the claim in your favor and refund you anyway.

Bought the phone more than a year back and is out of warranty. And its Indian, Le Eco has supposedly shut down here. So there's no point even trying to contact customer care, since there is none. Bought it online. So forget about a refund..

Well, the phone I returned through Paypal had also been bought online, so refunds are sometimes posible. Not this time, I see.
Anyway, maybe it's time to find another service center, one that provides service for any brand, and see what they think about it or if they have other ideas to try.
A similar thing happened to me, I was on my phone then it just turned off. I try to charge it but there was no notification LED. I played around with the phone and held the power button for 2 minutes and it turned on again like usual, hope this helps.
Try opening the phone and removing the battery for a few minutes.
Then place it back and try again
