worth $100 to go from razr to maxx? - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi all,
just got a Razr and did not know about the battery life issues, i have 14 days to exchange it but they will charge me $100 + $35 restocking fee so $135 for a better battery really worth it?

I love not having to worry about battery life so it was worth the $100 to me. But if money was tighter, I might of gone with the regular Razr. So really, the only person who can answer if $135 for double battery life is worth it is you.

Yeah I am not sure, I tried it today out of box with no charge and it lasted and hour and a half but at 27% to start, I have a galaxy s and if i use that alot during the day it wont make it. i will try the Razr for a few days at work if its worse then the galaxy then i think it might be worth the $135.

You will have to decide what works for you in terms of value.
I got my Razr for 1c on teh Amazon deal, so I'm willing to deal with its poor battery life. If I know I'll need more juice I end up carrying a short USB cable to connect to a computer and throw a $9 back-up battery charger in my pocket. The back-up does not really guive you more than 1/2 f its 1900mah rating, but it works quickly and is small, light and cheap:
I got one similar to:

Its really hard to judge battery life on a new phone because you use it about 50% more than normal trying to learn all the ins and outs of new phone. i can allways plug it in during the day at work so i might be ok.

your battery life will get a bit better after a few charging cycles. Every single phone ive even had i had to have an extra battery with me so i can go through the whole day without charging at all. Now i have the Maxx and i can do that without an external or replacement battery. If i turn off the mobile data and use wifi whenever possible, i can even go 2 days with decent use.
If you think you will keep the phone for a year or two i think its worth it.

I would exchange it for a phone made by almost any manufacturer other than Motorola!

Got my Droid Razr Maxx on Tuesday, this thing is great, loving the performance and battery life, not really getting the complaints against the screen as it looks pretty damn nice to me. Not a big fan of the built-in MotoBlur widgets (and the stock layout it fairly ugly) but that was all easily fixed. I paid $180 for the Razr Maxx, I can't imagine not having that extra battery life and prefer this form factor over that of the regular Razr.
The locked bootloader is my only real complaint, but I usually found myself going back to stock after a day or two just the same. Still annoying.

not everyone wants to put a custom rom though. And for those, Motoblur > samsung touchflo

done that with my galaxy and am back to stock rom. made it all day at work with 50% battery life left and i used it quite a bit so i think im gonna stick with this one, thanks. My wife dosent like the phone at all she wants to exchange it. so i called verizion and since i got the buy one razr get one free she would have to pay for another phone witch makes no sense to me, i can sell it on ebay for at least $400 or more and buy her a $300 phone and make $100 .

My Battery Collection.

All these batteries + G1 Dock with 2nd slot battery charger = WIN.
So. Many. Batteries.
Just got my other two in from ebay at $4 a pop. They were supposed to be OEM replacements but to my suprise, one of them says "1300mAh Replacement Battery For HTC G1". The other looks like a replica of an OEM battery but you can tell its not OEM. For $8 for both though, who really cares? lol, here's some pics of all my batteries.

Seidio 2600mAh With Extended Back Door $50
Andida "1600mAh" Extended Batteries (2) They are $10 each but i got em $10 for both
And of course, my stock OEM pos bloated HTC battery but you all know what that looks like.
Think i got enough Juice?
Impressive. I also have a 'defective' andida that I charge with an external charger. I have one of those white label batteries that came with one of my external chargers. It's a good emergency battery, but inferior to the OEM. I have a Seido 1400 that works pretty well. The Seido and the Andida seem to last about the same time in the phone. I still use the OEM even though it started bulging a bit. I hope that doesn't mean it's about to explode.
Depending on usage, I can rotate out all four batteries in a single day. The new radio has improved battery life, though.
How do they perform?

Yea, i was gonna spring for the Seidio 1400 but for the price, i just spent a couple more dollars and got the 2600 Extended at the time. My OEM battery is buldgy as a mofo too, that sh!t scares me sometimes lol. It dies so quick, its ridiculous.

There is no words for the Seidio 2600, that thing is a beast. 3 days easy with everything on. The Andidas last about a day and a half with heavy usage and some things turned off. The others i havent tested yet and the OEM is garbage, lasts about 4 hours max with LIGHT usage.
I have no plans on making my G1 a super brick...yet.
Hey do you have a link for the andida battery, I cant find'em anywhere .

Unforunately, he stopped selling them after the whole fiasco he went through with getting a bad batch and sending it out to everyone then having to replace them all...he just called it quits. =\
If you wanna see exactly what im talking about, just read up on the Andida 1600mAh Battery thread, its like 50 pages long from various XDA members including myself waiting months and months and months for a working $10 extended battery...it was crazy.
On another note though, i've heard there are other 1600mAh extended batteries on ebay so just do a search and they should come up. I think i remember one guy telling me about "Ecell" extended batteries? Give it a go and let us know how it goes.

Don't care about price, 3500 mAh was so worth it for the Evo 4G
Damn!!! I wanna Jump on this right now, but Im gonna have to wait. I loved that 3500 for the 4G.
If I ever need'to jump start my car...whip out a 3vo and jumper cables..damn...how long will it take to charge..a week?..
Is this the same item but for $5 less?

The side pic is probably the ugliest thing I have ever seen
Lord have mercy, that thing is ugly...I'm sorry but I stayed away from the EVO one because it too was just over the top. But, it does look like it could jump my Duramax diesel truck
I went with the Yoobao for my old EVO, which served me well:

I'll wait and see what these guys come out with, should look at least curved on the ends and not angled like the Seido; paid 20 bucks for the EVO battery and door, just sold it for 10 bucks to a buddy. Still lasted a full day even after a year.

I think the battery is so big because it relies on slightly outdated "Elf" technology.
For those not familiar with Elf batteries, the idea is simple: Inside the battery dwells a colony of friendly and industrious elves that work night and day to power your phone. Picture a light bulb powered by a hamster wheel, only with elves.
The upshot is that you can get great battery life, but in addition to charging you will periodically need to smear a small amount of peanut butter on the battery to feed the elves (this is detailed on page 4 of the battery's manual). Also, if you hear a folksy, quiet, yet haunting melody coming from your battery, that means it's working properly, so don't be alarmed.

With the battery life were getting now I don't see the use of this monster, but when we get root I'm picking this badboy up and overclocking to the max! I'm gonna try my best to kill it. Imagine 2ghz all the time, hopefully we can go that high.

I suspect that this is the 3500 - it is advertised as 2X original battery life.
And, in that case it is the same price.

only problem with those batteries is its hit or miss if you get a good one. I ordered the same exact ones for my OG Evo (pack of 2 batts and 2 covers for 20 bucks) but only one would hold an "extended" charge. The other held like the OEM battery.
Usually, you get what you pay for, just keep that in mind

3500mah with back cover for $13.99

I don't own one but if anyone is in the market for one. discount code is "evo3d3500mah"

I ordered one. I will be pulling the sticker back to see if there is any indication that this battery is less than advertised just like on my thread about the ebay batteries I got that were supposed to be 1850mah and under the sticker it said 1000mah. I will report back when I get it and update this post with my findings.
I have been ordering stuff from Handheld Items for awhile now since their stuff are cheap and shipping is pretty damn quick.
I was thinking about ordering this as well but in the end, I decided against it because quite simply, most of them all seem to be fakes for batteries like this. I ended up just ordering from Seidio since I don't want to waste another 18.99. Of course, if someone can confirm this is actually what it says to be, I could probably return the Seidio or sell it
Looks to be the exact battery selling on ebay for around $8-12. How fast is shipping usually with these guys?
For those who can wait 2-3 weeks, here's the ebay option:
http://cgi.ebay.com/3500MAH-Extende...ccessories&hash=item3f0c5c0c07#ht_5017wt_1163
I bought an extended battery for my Evo 4G from that seller and it worked fine.
I usually get my items from them in like a week.
Ordered on the 5th and it arrived on the 9th. Not bad. I pulled the sticker off of the battery and no where does it have any thing stamped on the metal like some cheap batteries will have a much, much lower mah than the sticker says it is stamped on them. I just got. It's charging now. Give me a couple days and I'll post how it is lasing so far.
Thanks for your update housry23, please keep us posted with your results.
thanks and please keep us posted!!

Just got mine today. Haven't used it yet, but I can't use it with my external charger.
I got mine yesterday, charged it all night, so far it seems a little better (but maybe thats just me being hopeful). I'll keep testing it for a few days, wouldnt feel right making any claims until then, i have my doubts. Not sure i'll be able to deal with how big it is but if its actually a better/longer lasting battery, i may use it when i travel and stuff.
OK I've had mine a full week now and let me say, the honeymoon is over. After a few good charges this battery will have a 50/50 chance of NOT booting up and even if it does for some reason the power is so inconsistent that the phone seems to randomly cut off even at 98% power. I've recalibrated my phone a couple times and past the first couple days this battery has been horrible.
Sorry to hear that, are you going to request for an exchange? I could understand short battery life but to shut off.

^^wow that's pretty harsh, I can't justify paying +$80 for a battery. Plus the fact Ill probably be using a different phone by January. Mine should be here tomorrow, if its a dud, no big deal, Ill ask for a replacement. I hope I get a decent battery. Ill post what I think, although I don't think ill use it much since the stock gives me usually over 12 hours.
I have this combo from eBay.. charge gets better and better.. I typically have 50% left at the end if the day

Not too impressed with the battery life so far, I charged it up to 96% and went out. I lost 10% the first hour wile the phone was in my pocket. Im under clocked with the screen off 432/ conservative. That's pretty much the same or worse than the stock battery. I would expect a maximum of 5% drain in a hour while the phone is sleeping, and that's being generous. I know southern87, its "13.99 ****ing crap" lol. Ill give it a few days to see how it goes.
The back door is definitely more sturdier than the oem battery cover, but of course, not as pretty. I like the uniform shape over the funky sedio sloped cover. Now I just need a TPU case to fit the phone now.
Just to be fair, the more I use the battery the longer it goes between charges. So all in all its worth the few bucks if you are willing to deal with the extra bulk of the phone. It'll come in handy for times like camping, biking/hiking with the gps running, etc.

Razr MAXX- My experiance

Well, where do I start..
I received my first Maxx around 2 weeks ago, Initially I think wow what a phone, then 6 hours later the power button stops working so I cannot turn the screen on anymore.... SO then, I send my phone back to Amazon who send me out a new phone, or so I think as it turned out to be a refurbished phone with the Void sticker broken. After abit of an argument with Amazon who tell me they dont send out refurbished items they send me out a replacement, which the courier company loses / steals... SO again Amazon send me out a new MAXX after a few days everything s going smoothly but suddenly I now have a stuck /dead pixel right in the middle of the screen. Now I am thinking I need to send this one back but this time im getting a refund. I'd like to say I've had enough but I have not and I actually really like my Razr and im actually contemplating buying another....

These phones are generally pretty defect-free. I wouldn't go switching devices just yet.. you probably just had a run of bad luck. It happens.
Well i sent it back and got a brand new replacement which after a couple of days has developed a dodgy pixel again!!

I will start testing from today. Wil report back soon.
Bigger capacity batteries can not be slim ,is all the people gonna say, even some cheap and bigger, size bigger capacity doesn't have bigger capacity.

You never win with cheap batteries. They might work okay for a few months but then start degrading rapidly, also I would bet money the battery isn't really 4,500mah. But for $17 you're not losing much.
You are right.
