New European Firmware

No new Radio Firmware S5830XWKP7 maybe this is the last radio firmware. This was included in KPO, KPT
Flash via ODIN
It is a One Package file so make sure you are on a 2.3.3 Base
If you are CM7 2.3.5 this is unrelated the Base you installed e.g KPO, KPO is 2.3.3 so you are ok to install this otherwise install a full package 2.3.3 release then flash KPW.
WINDOWS XP USERS BEWARE! ODIN 4.42 HAS ISSUES WITH XP PLEASE USE OLDER ODIN OR USE WINDOWS 7 TO FLASH!
This was released via KIES in portugal. I guess CSC = Portugal
Cheers
Tried flashing in Windows XP with ODIN 4.42 and won't flash stuck on mibib. Luckily when I unplugged it and took the battery out for 10 secs I went back into Download Mode and still wouldn't do anything.
EDIT: Used Windows 7 and flashed it ok. All drivers for galaxy ace in Windows xp where correct. (Kies)
ODIN 4.42 must not like windows xp.

OXX is Portugal alright - but I can't get this update (or any other) on my Portuguese Galaxy Ace through Kies at all:-
PDA: S5830XWKB4
PHONE: S5830XXKA6
CSC: S5830OXXKB3
Can anyone offer any clue as to why Kies won't update? I've read elsewhere that its due to a mismatched product code/CSC but my product code is right for an unlocked Portuguese Ace as far as I can tell.
I guess, because I'm stuck on 2.2.1, I can't flash this single-package firmware via Odin

This I have been told
Reinstalled Kies, it updated with a hotfix and now I get a much clearer error message:-
The current firmware version is not an official release
Firmware upgrade service for unofficial versions is not supported
So how does a new phone, fresh out of the box on Saturday, end up in this kind of state I wonder?

That is the question you should be asking from the shop you bought the phone from. Never heard of an error like that...

Quite likely they're complete divs who don't even know what firmware is.
Really not sure what to do now.
---------- Post added at 01:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:35 PM ----------
OK, I have a plan now.
I've downloaded the firmware this thread is about having done enough searching around to satisfy myself that this is a portuguese operator-unlocked firmware for the Ace. Now since I have a portuguese, operator-unlocked Ace (GT-S5830OKATPH) by flashing this I should be able to get further updates through Kies.
So if I root, flash Clockworkmod recovery, and take a backup before flashing this firmware, I should be able to go back to a stock state in case I screw things up or the firmware isn't what I think it is.
Does that sound like a reasonable plan? can I unroot and remove Clockworkmod Recovery in case I need to go back to a complete "as-delivered" state for warranty purposes?
Any tips much appreciated.

OK - flashing a stock firmware also changes the recovery partition, got it.
Is there anything else I should know before I try this?

I installed KPW just to see how it works. I installed cf-root b82, converted to ext4, changed some things with uot and it's all ok. The only problem is the lag when unlocking. When I press the power button it takes a long time for the screen to turn on. This also happens when I finish a call and move the phone away from my ear. Is there any way to speed things up a bit? Can I deodex it and what good will it bring?
p.s. I also installed Checks V4 ram script.
hi,
why kies doesn't work with lite'ning rom 2.5 in my GS2
thanks
Guess why?
Are you on an official samsung firmware?
Are you with an official kernel from samsung?
Are you unroot?
Are your smartphone stock?
Why your kies does not work? why?
Kies is meant and written to work with samsung phones WITH SAMSUNG FIRMWARES, so if you have done anything with your phone kies probably will not recognize your phone as a samsung phone.
Only for curiosity, why do you need kies?
hi
i wrote "lite'ning 2.5" it mean i have a custom rom, and i want kies to synchronise my contacts

Does not recognize non genuine rom is one reason .
jje
Whatever custom Samsung rom you are on, lies should recognize your device .
1. Check proper drivers are installed via device manager in PC.
2. Check if you have enabled USB debugging in your mobile.
3. Reinstall kies completely

Your contacts should sync with your Google account anyways.
Kies is meant to work with official Samsung firmwares. Which Lite'ning is not.
I find Kies a pretty bad program anyways. Unreliable at best. I haven't used it since about 2 weeks after I got my phone, which was about 8 months ago.
Sorry, but i could use kies with custom rom even lite'ning
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Well, then you'll need to provide more detail than just "Kies doesn't work with my ROM, but it used to". That doesn't tell anybody anything, or WHY it possibly doesn't work.
What happens when you try to use Kies? Does your computer still recognize the phone when you plug it in? Etc. Just saying something doesn't work, doesn't help anyone help you.
i'm now on Lite'ning 2.5 and the kies works perfect !
try to reflash your rom again

I reflash my phone 3 times, the problem persists, kies workwith wifi but not with the USB cable, the error message is: impossible to start the service on the device, another problem: the remote control does not work, it crashes the phone and you can not add an account samsung ... and thank you all
Try Kies Wifi. I managed to get Kies syncing with LR 2.5 after some error. Its a bit problematic though.
I think thé 2.6 will resolve the problèm.

hi,
kies work perfectly now with lite'ning 2.6, but i still can't ad a samung acocunt ,then no using of samsung dive, and wehen i try to check remote controle option the phon crash.

I have stock ROM with 2.3.5 android version.
I just bought "multipoint speakerphone".
The two devices pair together, I can use voice commands on the phone through the bluetooth device, and can hear system sounds (click, etc..) throught it.
BUT, when making a call - I can't hear anythign and the other side can't hear me as well!
My syster also have SGS2 but with the new ICS version, and the device works perfect for her.
Any help?
Thanks
help?
Why don't you upgrade to ICS. It's straightforward and you won't lose anything. Install Kies on your PC then connect phone to PC with USB cable and let it check and install the update. Home screen may need re-configuring but all apps and data will still be there.

Thanks for the reply.
Because I had the company who sold me the phone repairing something about a year ago, they installed their stock ROM version and now KIES won't update my phone.
Anyway I check it with a different SGS2 with 2.3.5 and it did work..

any guides to #2 ?
You can check in settings - about device. Compare the values there. If you go to www.sammobile.com and create an account you can download a more recent version of the Rom (including ICS) and install with Odin. Apps will not be lost.

You don't need to root your phone to upgrade it to 4.1.2
Just download a 4.1.2 ROM from sammobile.com and flash through ODIN and you're good to go.

nope: it is recognized by kies (for which the device is up to date in my country). the firmware is ok, I flashed it already on another s3. the message is "cannot open serial port"
EDIT : sorry folks, I just forgot kies running; that's why the serial port was not available for flashing. now everything's fine

I have flashed a rooted stock tom in Samsung galaxy s3 mini and now I can't connect my phone with kids. I wanted to ask the benefits of kies and how I can use it again.
Thanks in advance.

kies is samsung's own proprietary software to be used for backing up your data,, contacts etc.. And to upgrade your firmware whenever Samsung releases newer version of Android...

Kies before connecting whether the device status is genuine or not. Since you have already rooted and installed custom ROM , kies will not recognize your device.
Kies makes it easy to transfer / backup your media files, contacts, e.t.c.
You need to install official firmware for your device in case you want it to be recognized via Kies. You can refer sammobile.com for more details.
