Do you have some kind of receipt or something like that?.I bought mine on ebay and had to send it away once and the ebay receipt was good enough for the service centre to fix it under warranty. It was from a shop on ebay and was new though.
This is the AU warranty, tho an EU warranty may well differ. Ever thought of trying Samsung's website in your region

Has anyone here considered purchasing a warranty through squaretrade?
The phone, absent of a carrier subsidy, is quite pricy.
In the case of an untimely demise, I assume that you, like I, would scoff at the idea of going to your "bad flash" backup.
Squaretrade has, iirc, a 2 year warranty (accidental damage included) for $90.
Has anyone used squaretrade before? Any other suggestions or ideas?

Where are you located? If it is in the US, then Squaretrade will not sell you a warranty on the UK version of the S II.
Yeah I'm in the US. That's interesting, why would it matter to them? Replacement issue?

I can't find the email reply they sent, but it was something about it not having a Samsung USA warranty to start with. I thought it was strange because their website talks about gray market phones so I figured buying from an authorized UK seller would be no problem. They replied relatively quickly, so you could email them and ask.
I also sent an email to Handtec UK asking them about warranty. I asked if the UK warranty would apply if phone shipped to US and if I needed to send back to them or Samsung UK. They replied that I should check with Samsung US to see if they would honor it and if not then I may need to send back to UK. So they really didn't give me a good response.
Now I am either going to wait to see if AT&T announces a launch or maybe check out the HTC Sensation on Tmobile.
Thanks for the heads up. I'm gonna try and find out from Samsung USA what the deal is. That's something I never even thought of prior to ordering with Clove.
That Samsung announcement today was for the Infuse 4g coming May 15.

Will SquareTrade cover the phone if it was bought from Expansys-US? Technically it's bought here in the U.S, but then again Samsung probably wouldn't honor their warranty.
So I'm thinking of buying an unlocked xt910 to use on att. I've seen them for $599 on moblecity's website.
But I'm curious if you need to have it replaced under warranty what do you do? Does it even have a warranty being that it is an import?

Contact the seller and they will be able to answer the question for you. Generally it is the seller who is responsible for warranty claims.

Actually when you buy something, whether it be from a seller or Walmart, they only give you a 14 or 30 day warranty with them.
The maker of the product is what usually gives a 1 year warranty on most products. So being as Motorola doesn't sell the XT910 in the US, then they wouldn't warranty it here. So I guess I was wondering if you bought an import, I gather you would have to contact Motorola in whatever country the phone was originally sold for warranty.
I was just not sure whether they would honor the warranty being as we would be using it in the USA. If they would, I guess you would have to send it to Motorola abroad.
A big headache though. Send your phone off to UK or whereever if you ever need warranty work done on it.
I bought my galaxy s 3 from ebay brand new in the box, am i still able to claim warranty ?
Because i spoke to Samsung and the told me this :
Please note that the warranty on your device is not transferable, which means that purchases made on eBay through a private seller do not have warranty cover with us.
If u bought it from a private seller then bad luck u don't have ur warranty...
HIT THE THANKS BUTTON IF I EVER HELPED U OR MADE U LAUGH OR MADE U HAPPY OR MADE U ANGRY OR HELPED U IN MAKING THE IFREAKS REALISE WHAT ACTUALLY THEY ARE......... :-$ =-O

I bought my brand new Galaxy Tab from ebay. It developed a fault so I contacted Samsung and got it returned for repair telling them I didn't have proof of purchase as it was given to me as a birthday gift.
They checked the serial number and imei number and confirmed it was still under warranty, sent me a pre-paid envelope to send the tablet off and hey presto one repaired tablet returned to me

Never had a problem sending second hand phones back to Samsung. I've sent two back in the past and they didn't even ask.
If it's in warranty it's in warranty! Whoever has it!

Yeah, that's my experience of Samsung. They've always been ok with me even when I messed up flashing. They just fixed it and sent it back. No dramas!

So now you know the policy of Samsung from the horses mouth .
One of the reasons would also be that there is not international warranty cover .
Seller not Samsung is responsible for warranty on goods sold . Samsung's warranty as per the documentation is a limited warranty .
But as others say if you have a warranty problem its worth sending it back .
jje
well with me it's a whole different story my imei changed by flashing a rom so i went back to stock and sent it to them and they didn't say anything about warranty and they returned it saying we can't repair because it is blacklisted now i have emailed them with proof that it isn't blacklisted and now they are giving complete ****

The imei is the only thing they can go on to check the phone out, as long as that is ok then there really shouldn't be a problem.
Your problem is really unfortunate and won't happen very often.

The imei on the phone is changed from the original because of a rom flash but I didn't tell them that it was changed of course, what should I do?
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
Your problem (blacklisting, not the change of imei) has nothing to do with Samsung
Blacklisting means the phone has been reported stolen and selling it, buying it or helping with the goods is considered illegal in most countries. (I'm not so sure on the possession, but that probably too)
You should, instead of blaming Samsung, contact your local police authority

My bet is you bought a stolen phone from ebay, couldnt get it sent back ect so tryed to send it in to samsung warranty for them to replace the phone with a new imei lol
but it didnt work...
It's not blacklisted mate I have checked, but the think it is because the imei doesn't match the back because the efs folder was wiped so I blamed Samsung for providing an update that was faulty

If you bought your phone in Europe you should have 2 years of warranty starting the day you purchased the device (assuming you haven't rooted/flashed custom rom/recovery/kernel etc)
I have rooted and flashed my phone..... I bought this phone from off market (second hand) so I don't know when was bought from the store.

The warranty is the same as the iphone based on imei or serial number or do I need a paper which shows that I have warranty?

Unless you have the receipt the original buyer got, I don't think you have any warranty. I think you need to have proof of purchase.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
No I don't have the receipt original buyer got but I'm thinking there is an international warranty based on imei or something..... How can I see when was bought or when was activated? I have this questions because of the sudden death bug.

I have bought my S3 and S2 from ebay, both of which have been second hand. My S2 needed work on it due to a fault and was still within the 24 month warranty when I registered it online through Samsungs website. The phone came with no receipt of purchase and so I was unable to provide this with the phone, Samsung still fixed my phone under warranty.
Just to note I read instances on xda where samsung may ask you to provide a paypal receipt if you have bought the phone from ebay as evidence of purchase. But you should have no problems returning it for warranty.
I have the chance to purchase a C6802, but there is no receipt with it.
For any possible warranty or insurance purposes I would need to show a valid UK receipt.
If anyone could assist by 1300 BST today ( the time i would be getting the phone)I would be most grateful!
Lol.... Why would anyone hand over their own warranty... How come it doesn't come with a receipt?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I'm just asking for a copy of the receipt, not for their actual warranty!
Doesn't matter now any way
