I think you have a problem there... The phone should have the sticker under the battery.
If not your out of luck.
I have a custom ROM (since I bought the phone) and it has always said UNKNOWN under serial but maybe** (I'm just guessing here) if you use a stock ROM you can see the serial.

Did you just flash the newest ICS leak? Because if you did, I remember reading some comments about their serial being all screwed up after installing it.
With regards

yes but that gave a blank serial number, i have since flashed back the stock vodafone firmware, i have a serial number listed, but not the one on the sticker/phone.
found a asus transformer thread about the same thing, it seems they do not match.

Galaxy TAB ESN Help

Hello all, I need to send my g tab to Sammy for repairs, I currently have my product registered, but upon requesting service it says my ESN is Invalid, I'm assuming the ESN is the serial number located on the reverse side of the tab, but when looking internally Settings>About tablet>Status I'm getting a different serial number than the one listed on the reverse side. Is this normal?
I'm currently on CM9 P4 Wifi
Thanks in advance for the help.
They want the one on the back of the tablet. However, is your tab a refurb? If so that's why the numbers are different. Samsung won't touch refurbs, you have to go through their refurb company.
Thanks Breton, I currently have it registered with the serial from the reverse side, yet on the Samsung site it says it's invalid, could it be I have the wrong model registered? There are so many with the same description upon registering the tab. They have at least 10 different p7510 models. No the tab is not refurbished , thanks again

[Q] Serial Number All Zeros

When I go into AboutDevice/Status my Serial Number is all Zeros, is this normal for the Verizon Note 2? It works fine, I just want to know if I should fix it before selling it. I have never had a phone were the serial number was all zeros.
All 0000000 here too..
Cool, maybe that's the way it's supposed to be on Verizon Notes. I bought mine used but it was completely stock and the guy didn't have clue about rooting or swapping firmware.

[Q] does a new mainboard come with an imei number in it?

Hi guys last week i sent my phone to be fixed due to a sound error. they said they changed the entire board so that imei number has changed. but i realized that they faked the imei number. i know that because when i checked my imei on internet, seems that its a gts8600 which is galaxy wave
now as the title i asked, does a brand new board come an imei in it or they write it themselves??
I believe the motherboard has its own generic imei number. Youll see this generic imei number instead of the shipped imei when the efs partition is formatted or corrupt. Meaning the imei that you see on your phone now is probably one that has been placed by the service center. Although what I don't understand is that why wouldn't they just input the imei no. that's mentioned underneath the battery instead.

was it the official Samsung service center?

Here in Turkey you have to register all imei numbers to the carriers in order to use your phone. i think the generic imei wasnt registered so they needed a registered one to make it work. For the serial you mentioned about underneath the battery, i think they needed my old efs backup to replace and since they dont have that either.... but i also think and just poped up in my head right now, my old board was working fine but the sound card. they could have taken my efs from it. and that will be the first think im gonna say them on monday morning...

That could explain why they added some other imei. If I'm not mistaken in Turkey they usually give you 2 weeks to register your imei before suspending it? In that case I would advice you to push the service center to place your old imei number and register your phones actual imei with the network. At least so that you don't face difficulty with updating through KIES or any other situation.

yes you are right about two weeks. my old imei number was registered. but there are some answers i need
1) what is corrupted efs? if i temper with the orijinal imei even placing my old one instaed, does the phone thinks corrupted anyway?
2) if that's so, im gonna tell them to register the new imei number that comes with the board. my present imei that im using now when i searched it from internet it seems 8600 not 9300 but also registered too.

Its is the EFS folder that contains the IMEI.

Yes and its illegal .
The service centre should sort all the IMEI stuff not you .

is there change in serial no and IMEI after changing the motherboard

Hi,
I have recently purchased Lenovo Phab, some how one day it was not turning on so I contacted service center and it took almost one month to return my phab.
after receiving my phab I have observed that serial no and IMEI got change, I have informed same to service center and they replied that "by replacing the motherboard serial no and IMEI changed".
I dont think this will change. Kindly suggest.
Regards,
Sandip
They are part of hardware, so by changing board, serial and imei will change too.

Thank you very much for prompt reply.
Also would like to know by changing the motherboard do it will get newest serial no or old (existing serial no). Because on lenovo site warranty for serial no is just 80 days left and my original phab left more than that.
Kindly suggest.
Rgds,
sandip
