Request for AOKP on Prime - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

So I posted this on the AOKP forums and was told someone would need to port and maintain the ROM. If so then we get an AOKP version...so any of our talented Devs wanna give it a shot? I would but I'm not a Dev/Coder so I wouldnt get far lol...I'm sure I'm not the only one that would love AOKP, I know CM9 is being built...but its far from finished if you've tried it then you know what I mean...So how about it Devs?

Not a dev either, but have to second this. AOKP is a very fine ROM and would be a great addition to the TFP.

when CM is here I believe AOKP is very possible, if it is wanted I'm sure someone will port it;-)

Someone want to enlighten the lazy as to what the AOKP ROM looks like? Maybe a link?

Here is a Link but no idea what it offers..

AOKP ROM is amazing.
I had a Droid Incredible before and was a Avid CM7 user. Never liked anything but CM7...
Then I got the GNex and since CM9 isn't really out yet, I had to settle, or so I thought.
AOKP has more features than you could ever imagine. Roman and the other devs do a great job of adding features. They also are active in the forums so if you have a feature request, they normally will add it if possible.
That said, I am not sure I will switch to CM9 when it is officially released for the GNex.
It is based off of the CM9 source, but he modifies it like crazy. Very stable on the GNex.

Yeah, I'm waiting with baited breath for AOKP for my prime. It was ported for my OG EVO & was the only alpha build i didn't ditch within a day in the whole time i've owned the phone. Roman is really on the cutting edge of truly original & helpful tweaks. Shoot, I was only savvy enough to be able to use maybe 2/3 of what he had in there. A power user's wet dream. Plus pink unicorns dripping with butter? C'mon! (You'll just have to check it out if this doesn't make sense)

Giefmeaokp! Aokp would be sweet. I'm refreshing the dev forum every 5 secs waiting for custom roms n kernels to pop up!

Just for the record, AOKP is NOT based off the CM9 source. Both are based off the AOSP main source tree. Certain features might be incorporated from one to the other, but that is simply the beauty and benefit of open source.
Roman is definitely following his own vision with AOKP and the results are impressive.

So word is if someone is willing to "maintain" AOKP on the TP it is likely we can get it ported.
I have no idea what that means, but I think it means this:
-Maintaining Thread
-Building and testing new builds
-Bug Fixes
I have little to no idea how to do this, so if anyone is capable then we might be able to get AOKP.

I am going to start working on this once I unlock my bootloader, OR f I can get some very dedicated testers I can start right now

I'd be interested in this. More features/tweaks is the kinda stuff I like

CM7 progress.

It seems to me that VAlpha 3 is pretty damn stable. All I really want is for Bluetooth to work. I can care less about 4G because where I live it will never exist, and if the 3D camera was to never work on CM7 or any other AOSP ROM for that matter I wouldn't lose sleep. My Cyanogenized dual core Shooter is amazing. Anybody have any info on it? Not asking for an ETA cause I know there never are any, but anyone have inside info? I'm foaming at the mouth waiting for a RC to show up on the CM site or on ROM Manager. Also who's pumped for CM9?

no i haven't bailed on anything. i've been working on developing the platform just as i always have. thread was closed because daily mods had to come into it to clean it. the entire thread went off the rails of the topic and was only being used to promote other roms and trolling people. when/if i release another updated alpha build, i will reopen the thread and post links. currently other devices are releasing alpha builds based off the work i and the rest of the CM team are developing for the msm8x60 platform. ive spent a lot of time trying to clean up issues with current changes in prep for merge one day. our device has a few issues which im addressing while doing the other stuff as well. all i can really say is, i im working on it, be patient.

Me too man I love CM7. Had some issues with my PLR on the first attempt to root/flash CM7 but it works great now! I hope the beta or other future release comes soon!

Is anyone porting CM9 to the Fascinate?

Just curious...if anyone was workin g taht or is it a race to see who can get vanilla ICS up and running
The Cyanogenmod team themselves said they don't expect to have a CM9 build until January - we won't be getting it sooner than when they release it While I'm on this subject, I think a lot of the features on vanilla ICS are equivalent to some of the best features of CM7. I think I would like a chocolate ICS better though
Has anyone seen John Connor?
The nexus s already has a semi stable CM9 alpha. Koush is working it. I'm sure someone will port it at some point.

CNA ROM coming for the Prime!

I couldn't find any threads in the Asus forums about this, so I thought I'd share. I'm pretty stoked about it:

im so excited for this
Wow, after looking into CodenameAndroid Rom, this thing looks incredible. Looks awesome, and I anxiously await....
thanks for heads up OP. the more Roms the merrier. Roms looks very well put together and feature intensive. can't wait till it arrives!
Is there any sort of laymans comparison for ROMs? How does this compare to CM9? I like what I've read about CM9 but I'm really not sure what the real difference is between various ROMs.
I know it's probably not simple to ask "What ROM should I get?", but... suggestions anyone?

Every ROM offers something different. Its important to read the list of features that the ROM has to offer. The more you read threads in the developer section, the better you will understand these features. Since ICS is still fairly new, many ROMs consist of features kanged from CM9. Some are AOSP, which means they were built straight from source code, while others are based on current OTAs.

I've read that the codename dudes own Primes, so I'm hoping that it'll be as smooth as the Virtuous ROM that I'm currently running, with all the added features/mods of CNA.
hmm 1.5 is out for all the listed devices except for the prime :/
does anyone know what wallpaper that is?
if you click the link for that thread, they show Galaxy nexus with a nice wallpaper but i cant seem to find it anywhere.
id love to have that on my skyrocket and prime.

[Request] Pure ASOP ICS ROM

Having just come from the inspire 4g, I've had the luxury of having asopx, which if you search their forum you'll see its as close to Google source as possible with all the cm crap gutted, I've been hoping to see one pop up over here but didn't know if perhaps there just wasn't any demand here in Samsung land. Anyway the phone is awesome, just dislike touchwiz, and want the bare bones stock look and feel of ics, to which I can then customize from there. Seems like all the roms thus far have traces of touchwiz and or tons of cm tweaks and apex lanuchers and all that nonsense that we should have the ability to add from a bare bones build, kinda like a foundation to then just customize from there.
Please show some love if you want this as well, would gladly donate for some dev to get on it :beer:
CM9 and AOKP are the closest things you will get to a pure AOSP OS.
If you wanted guaranteed pure AOSP, you should've bought a Nexus device.
BTW, that "CM crap" as you put it, vastly improves the ability of the OS. As does (and this is my opinion only) Touchwiz4.
Why don't you build your own op if you're not happy with what's offered.

Instead of criticizing why not try helping? There actually is a pure AOSP based ROM that we recently got support for named Codename Android. I'm not sure if it 100% running on our phone yet but they are working to do so.

Codename Android on my Nexus S [link] is really nice. It was one of my favorites. If we could see that (at some point) on our phones, that would be awesome.
I built and ran AOSP ICS 4.0.3 for my Nexus S and I have to say that while I did it just to see it work, I didn't run it long as I missed the features that CM and other open-source projects such as Codename Android have to offer. But, to each their own.
Just my $.02.
AOKP is about as close as you're going to get. Try it, you wont regret it.

Sorry if this post came off as if I was some form of elitiest, I was merely suggesting that if we had a nice bare bones build people can thank tweak as they saw fit, I do not claim to be an Android developer and if I could I would love to build what I'm requesting, unfortunately I do not posses those skills ,hence attempting to lure in unsuspecting developers with donations as I do respect and understand the amount of developers that do this in their spare time while maintaining real life jobs. Secondly, my past experience with cm has been poor with the inspire, perhaps it was just not as highly regarded in the inspire space as it is elsewhere. Cm just didn't play that well with that device, perhaps I was too quick to judge having moved devices.
For those on akop, is it the stock launcher, email, and messaging apps? They don't have any screen shots? I'd like to get away from touchwiz

I share this opinion. I can honestly say if I had to choose between my GS II and the Galaxy Nexus with a locked boot loader, and not rootable, I would take the GS II every time. I would not choose to run Stock ICS over CM9, AOKP, or like stated above, TouchWiz (on ICS).
As others said give AOKP a try. Its definitely daily driver stable and complete. It looks like stock ICS but adds so many features. Things like the power toggles in the notification shade, adding apps to the lock screen as shortcuts, the list is huge. I can't make a firm decision between SHOstock2 and AOKP. I spend a week on one, then swap, repeat. I think people give TW a hard time. Its not sense, its not in your face and leeching into every part of the phone. Its really subtle once you put on a different launcher, even the official att builds. When I run AOKP I miss the TW music player (with controls in the lock screen and notification shade), the video player, and the camera more than anything else. When I run TW builds I miss the people/phone app and calendar. Those are the differences to me between TW and AOSP, a vast majority of the ICS experience is the same in the two.

Everyone in here is telling you to go with AOKP. Its as "bare bones" as you can get with stock ICS. There is in TouchWiz whatsoever in AOKP. All the drivers are in there to make all the functions of your phone work. Go try it. Now.

[Q] Will Jellybean spur development?

When jellybean leaks or is officially released do you think there will be more devs working on custom roms?? Im ordering mine on tuesday no matter what tho. cant wait
Probably not. Already a number of devs working on things.
I would imagine that you will see a few new devs and roms when/if the first person figures out a reasonable way of converting N4 / ASOP roms over though.

The Base rom will probably be updated to 4.1 or 4.2 depending on what's released.
We probably won't see more devs immediately but, keep in mind Christmas is coming up so a lot of people will be getting new devices and have no free time till Christmas..
Then after Christmas people will have less to do, more time, and a new device to play with.

Great point. Plus, we really only need a few devs. Give me one that can compile CM10.1, one that handles AOKP and maybe a few that make some hybrids. Hell, if development doesn't pick up once JB source for this device is available, I will buy a phone for a member on my team that can build from source

Any idiot with Linux could learn easily how to compile assuming the sources are all there, but there are things we have to make from scratch or modify from the nexus. We are working on it.

One of the reasons they changed the moderator system was to keep Questions out of General and the Development fora. There's a whole Q/A forum for this device. Please try to remember that.
Moved to Q&A please post in proper sections.
