Other tablets when you stop using them, the screen turns of f. I can't find an option with the prime that allows this to occur. When i set the tablet down, the screen dims but doesnt shut off unless idoit via power button. Has anyone had this happen and know what to do about it?

Go to your settings. Then Display. Then the sleep option. You can adjust the number of sec/min for the screen to shut off.
Right. Its currently set at 1 minute, but no dice.
The screen should shut off completely when haven't touched it for a while. Are you sure that you haven't installed any apps that might be keeping the screen awake?
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk
Yup, right out of the box. Did the updates, no apps installed.
Hmmm. Don't really know what would be the problem in this case. Just to make sure, you know the screen will start dimming before it turns off completely right? In case you are touching the screen after it starts dimming or something. That will just wake it back up.
Anyway if nothing works you might want to try a factory reset.

I am having the same issue. I turned on "stay awake" options in developer options to keep the screen alive when it is charging. However, it is also affect the prime when it is not connected.
It only seems to happen randomly every boot. The prime can be asleep and disconnected for hours. Then I wake up and the screen is on and dimmed. When this happens, the battery percentage becomes locked and will not change (So I cannot really tell when it happened or how much battery was drained during this time). I am forced to reboot to correct the battery percentage and get the prime out the the "screen wake lock" until is randomly occurs again.
Running .15, but has been occurring since .11 on my C10 model.

Since the update of my X10 to 2.1 I noticed some strange behaviour.
I could do almost a day with my battery, but on days I wasn't using my phone the battery also lasted 1 day.
Today I found out that my screen turns on randomly.
I suspected the Live Weather Wallpaper which updates every 3 hours (only), but disabling it didn't do the trick.
Strangely enough, my screen doesn't shut down either after set time.
Does anybody have the same problem or knows about an app/widget which influences the screen?
I'm not sure if it's the same problem but I ran into something similar before where every night my phones screen would turn on at 12am. After some looking around and thinking I realized I had my phone to back up at that time both with the standard back up tool and one for titanium back up. My screen would turn back off after the set time however.
It might be the same thing but since you said the screen doesn't turn off I am not certain.
If you really have no idea what is causing the problem you can take a closer look to see if it is truly random. It may be periodic.
EDIT:
While you're at it, list the widgets and other additional apps you've installed since 2.1
I found the reason for not turning off. The app Quick settings had it turned of (guess by me).
Now to check turning on.
Same thing is happening to me. The screen turns on randomly and stays on
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Last night the screen stayed off.
It was probably my settings within 'Quick settings' which disabled the screen off function.
This is still happening to me from time to time Not sure what is causing it.

This weekend it 'got' back again.
While connected to power, the screen turns on when the battery is at 100%.
Annoying.
But last two days I'd to recharge the X10 because of a lit screen.
I thought it was because of the 'Quick settings' app, but that's gone for over a week now.
It's still happening to me. The screen turns on when it reaches 100% charged, very odd

Half an hour ago I Got the 9.4.2.15 firmware update from asus. after the update was applied my prime asked me if I want to turn it off....I approved and the device shut down and stayed off.I tried to turn it on and nothing happened.
When I applied the update I had more then 80% of the battery.
I plugged the phone to the charger and the charger light on the power button changed from orange to green
While the Prime was charging(and after it was fully charged) I tried to do some stuf
I tried to press the on button and nothing happened and no vibration.
I tried to hold the on button for about 30 seconds and the only thing that happened is that I got a vibration(the same you get when you turn on your device).
I tried to reset the device with the reset hole near the microsd with a needle and nothing happened.
I tried holding the power button and the volume button(once the up and the other time the down) and nothing happened except the vibration after about 10 seconds.
ANY IDEAS?
*my biggest problem is I purchased the Prime from "Amazon US" and I don't leave in the us...How If I need do I use my ASUS warranty.who do I connect?
Thanks.
Try draining the battery completely then charging it back up. Then try to boot it up again. You might have a glitch or bug. Its always good after an update is applied to let it update then it reboots itself. After it loads back up,go into home screen. Then **** down device and cut back on. This will eliminate anything happening from rogue codes.

Try a hard reset and if that doesnt work do a search for this (EP201_SDUPDATE.ZIP)

I am unable to do "Hard reset" because the device do doesn't start, after pressing the power button nothing happens the screen stays black. the onle response I get from the device is vibration(after I hold the power button for about 10-12 seconds).
I don't think that "EP201_SDUPDATE.ZI" will help because I don't have accesses to my bootloader
Did you happen to drop the device or bang it pretty hard? If so, could be a chance the connector to your display is loose and device is actually on but the screen is off. Best way to check this is to connect your prime to your t.v. thru HDMI. Then try to cut it on. If something displays on your t.v. but screen still won't cut on, then connector came loose from your display. That is the best way to check. Plus you could also operate tablet like that.
Nope,didn't drop or hit it.
Unfortunately I don't have HDMI cable that connects to the prime.
your idea is good but even without the cable I am sure it's not the problem...but lets say that it is the problem...then if the device is actually on I should be able the hear the sound it makes when I use the volume buttons and when I receive new emails...the thing is I am unable to produce any sound from the device.
I just applied my update and it didn't ask me if I wanted to power down, it did itself. Did you power down when it was starting to install?
My screen did say "power down" but I knew it would do it itself.
Maybe like doing a battery pull during a flash?

Maybe you are right and for some reason I turned the device off while it was in the middle of the update... so 5hat means as you said that I interupted the flash process...in this case the problem is the software of the device ...could I do somthing to fix it without going with it to a lab?

You might try inserting a pin or a paperclip into the reset hole next to the micro SD port.
PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
I decided to try and fix my prime one last time before I use the warranty. so I took a needle SMALLER one then I used the first time I tried to "Hard reset" the prime and inserted it into the hole near the microSD port....and this time I felt a "click"...I pressed for about 10 seconds and then released and the screen turned on
I immediately got the screen withe the open green robot and with a blue line under it that showed me that the update was applied....then the screen changed to the screen you get when you turn on the device(asus symbol and tegra3 symbol) and again I got a blue line showing me that the update is going on.
After the blue line went foreword to 100% it disappeared from the screen and I was left with the screen you get when you turn on the device(asus symbol and tegra3 symbol).
I have waited for about 20 minutes and nothing happened....I turned off the device with the power button and then turned it on again(this time the device responded after 1-2 seconds)...I got a vibration and the screen was on(asus symbol and tegra3 symbol). after a few seconds the screen changed to another screen( another ASUS symbol with a turning circle under it) after about 8 seconds my device was fully working all my data was present(didn't reset with the needle should have deleted everything?) and my software number was 9.4.2.15,so the update was fully applied.
I tried turning on and off the device for a few times and had no problems with it.
So basically the device is working and I have no idea what was the problem
The tip i got for everyone trying to reset the device with a needle/paper clip....YOU HAVE TO FEEL THE CLICK
that's awesome! Congrats!
These are expensive toys (in my case addiction).
Maybe it was a bad flash which can be really spooky if you're not rooted with a custom recovery.

I'm having a problem. At first I thought I was just closing the "lid" too quickly and not watching it fully shut down like in windows sometimes things will crash and if you don't click on shut down again it'll just sit there waiting for you to ok the force close. But then I started to make sure it was fully off before closing the lid. Friday I shut it down dock and tablet fully charged. Today I open the lid and the thing has been on for a long time. The dock has been fully depleted and tablet at 52% meaning it turned back on not much longer after I shut it down.
Is anyone else having this problem? I don't have it to wake with keyboard thing. I can't figure out what's wrong. I'm not accidentally turning it back on either b/c that power button takes quite a lot of depressing to turn the unit on. The power button is also facing toward the top of my briefcase. My briefcase has no closing flap either.
Sorry for posting it in general. I was browsing both the QA forum and this one to see if anyone posted.. apparently hit the make new thread button in general instead of QA. If a mod can move it instead of deleting I would appreciate it!!
I think this answers your question.

Sorry it doesn't. I mentioned that I made sure it was shut down before I closed the lid I watch it shut down, vibrate, leave the lid open while I pack the rest of my stuff up. Then I tap on the keyboard/swipe my finger across the touchpad and it's still not responding then I close the lid. I've even tried pressing the power button quickly enough that if it were on it would immediately light back up but nothing happens. I don't press it long enough to make it boot back up. I watch it for a few seconds after that too before storing it. I really thought I solved it too last week when I would try all that and watch it turn off but I was so surprised to open the lid on Sunday and see its been draining all weekend.
It works for me if I wait at least 10 sec after it vibrates.

Nothing special. I had the same question as you. I applied as suggested and it worked. Nothing more I can say.
Sorry
Since this happens when you have the dock connected, did you try changing this setting:
Settings > Asus customized settings > Battery Saving > "Disable wake-up function on keyboard when the tablet is asleep to save more power."
Check this box and then turn your tablet off and see if it restarts itself. There might be a stuck key on the keyboard that is registering as a key press which could be turning your tablet back on.

About when it is connected, I don't understand the point. Who cares if it is really turne off or not ? It charges anyway. No ?

If the tablet is connected to the dock and is left on and unused, it will still drain the battery on the tablet and the dock. The longer it is left on and unused the more battery will be drained. If you completely deplete your batteries in such a manner and leave them depleted long enough you will destroy the cells and they won't be able to hold a charge.
Also, the tablet should complete the shutdown process even if you close the lid before it finishes shutting off. That is the way that it works on my tablet. Even with the lid closed, my Prime completes the shut down process, vibrates once and then it is off. When I open it back up later, I have to press the on-button for the device to restart. There shouldn't be any waiting period necessary.

If it doesn't work you might wanna do a hard reset on your tablet. This sounds like a software issue and hard resets are usually pretty good at resolving small software issues like this one.
Just back up your date first.
Mine works fine. Cut it off, waited a few seconds, and closed it for half an hour. Had to cut it back on when I opened it up.
I still have the issue on some boots where it'll never enter Deep Sleep, so my dock will get eaten before I notice it, but nothing like this.
I'm having the same issue, turns back on
Not the same as the OP but I've noticed that if I power off my Prime and then plug it into the wall charger it turns on and boots back into ICS. At first I thought that I had hit the power button with the hand that I was holding the tablet with when I plugged in the cord to the socket on the bottom of the tablet but I was careful doing it subsequent times and it happens every time.

Mine does that too but I think its supposed to depending on the manufacturer? My bf's galaxy nexus phone and his old Droid did that too. My evo stays off though. It makes me feel like I'm saving the battery from discharge recharging as much if I can keep it off. But at least it will turn off if you leave it plugged in when you shut down. The Droid didn't seem to let you do.. kept wanting to be on anytime it was plugged in.
Thanks almighty! I'll try the reset... Time to back it up!
My Nexus S phone, if powered off first, stays off when plugged into AC. The Prime is my first Android device that exhibited this behavior... Had a Motorola phone before the Nexus S that would stay off when charging as well. Seemed weird to me when it first happened...

My FHD10 screen randomly turns off. It looks similar to when it goes to sleep from inactivity, but it happens even when I'm actively using it. It then, sometimes, refuses to turn back on. Resetting it sometimes helps, but not always. It is charged, hasn't been dropped or abused.
I'm not sure if it's something software related that I can fix, or if I just need to contact Asus support for warranty.
Thoughts?

I think it is due to the problem in your RAM
Better contact your service center and claim a warranty
Just got the update to 6.0.1 today. With 5.1.1 I used to double press the side button to put the watch in theater mode and turn off the screen while charging. My v1 moto 360 developed some screen burn in after about a year from the charging screen, so I now turn it off on my v2 while charging. But with 6.0.1, the screen will not stay off, the charging screen turns back on after 10-15 seconds. Anyone else also notice this with the new upgrade?

Yes, noticed it last night - I normally put it in theatre mode too for just the same reason, but now it turns back on after a few seconds. I've tried changing the developer options for 'Stay awake when charging' to enable/disable and it makes no difference
EDIT: Tempted to try the 'Slumber' app, but read some horror stories in reviews...
Thanks for the confirmation... I have an support inquiry into Motorola, hopefully they can fix this in another update. I had some wackiness with the contacts section after the upgrade, so i did a factory reset. It did fix the contacts problem, but unfortunately the screen still turns back on when charging.
please keep us updated. this is ridiculous. they fix one thing and break another. Motorola is ridiculous.

Figured out the issue
Hello All,
I have figured out the issue. Motorola changed how it works.
You can no longer double click to go into theater mode set it on the charger and have the screen stay off.
Now, for whatever reason, you need to place it on the charger, wait for the charging screen to open and for the charging animation to finish / slightly fade, press and hold the side button until it fades to black, your screen will now stay off until you remove it from the charger. Took me a while to figure this out, ha-ha.
I have tried this several times in a row and the screen does remain off.
Hopefully this helps you guys as well.
Thanks,
-th3r3isnospoon
PS, if it doesn't work, reboot once then follow the above instructions.

hmm....i couldn't get this to work, even after a reboot. when i press the side button, the app list immediately comes up and if i hold it longer, it switches to the black and white ambient mode screen, which i guess is better than the charging screen. But I couldn't get the screen to turn off like with 5.1.1. If you keep holding the side button for too long, the watch does a hard reboot. Anyone else manage to get this to work?

I just tried this, and couldn't get it to work either. When I hold down the side button, the app list appears, holding down longer shows the ambient watch face. I have the 42mm version and have Always On turned On.
I did try turning off always on screen too, I thought it might be related to that, but no change
Does not work for me either, even after a reboot...
My solution (for now) to reducing the amount of heat the watch is subjected to on the charger (I normally charge overnight) is to use one of these WiFi controlled plugs:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Watts-Clever-Controlled-Monitoring-Features/dp/B00UQOPM8U
I make sure it's turned OFF before going to bed, turn off the watch (optional) and set it on the charger. Set the timer on the InPlug to come on 1hr30mins before I get up in the morning and then automatically switch off. That means the watch and charger come on, get charged before I get out of bed, and the InPlug switches itself (and the charger) off again after 1hr30mins so the watch/screen is only ever subjected to an hour and a half of charging and the associated heat/screen burn.
The other option is to have it on when you go to bed and switch off 1hr30mins or 2hrs later, but then the watch is on all night using up the charge.
You can set the InPlug to do the same thing daily, so it's a 'set and forget' kind of thing. (Other makes are available, for example, Belkin).
I noticed that the charging screen seems dimmer (maybe it's just me) than before the update, so maybe that will reduce the chances of any damage.

Hi! Excuse me for the OT question, but since you talked about it...how do you do a factory reset in 6.0.1? The reset option is no longer in the settings menu...
In settings, go to bottom and choose "unpair with phone" that performs a factory reset.

Do you know of a firmware update coming that will fix this or are you just speculating?
I'm currently using Slumber for Android Wear, and it's free with no weird permissions.
It appears in the app drawer on the watch; you just have to activate it before you drop it on the charger.
