Hello.
Lets make it quick.
I always used odin to flash FW's via the PDA option.
But then i found a "I9100XXLP2_I9100OXALP2_OXA" (an ICS rom, yes ) on www.sammobile.com.
Downloaded the FW and what was new for me it was in few separate files.
- GT-I9100-MULTI-CSC-OXALP2.tar
- I9100_CODE_I9100XXLP2_CL57619_REV02_user_low_ship.tar
- MODEM_I9100XXLP1_REV_02_CL1095381.tar
Since i didnt knew what to do with these exactly i've got a guide from sammobile.com as well.
like this:
http://s7.postimage.org/586eickij/tutorial.png
So i placed my files, the same
(yes i know theres no that "yellow" thingy in the first bracket)
http://s11.postimage.org/6x732wx9f/odin.jpg
pressed START and odin began to repartition.
The weird thing it took over 20mins and still nothing was going on.
so i searched about it and found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119580
i did it. and now my phone won't even react.. black screen. cant enter download mode, nor recovery.
is it the end?
Probably. No download mode & I presume Odin doesn't recognise the phone when you hook it up to a PC ? Might as well try a jig but I'd be surprised if it worked.
Back to Samsung or a 3rd party JTAG repairer.
Is that an I9000 .pit in the screenshot? Looks like you've hosed your device with the wrong partition layout.

I'm sorry to say, but the phone is completely dead... The repartition tables are not your device's tables, so it's "safe" to say that your phone is an expensive paperweight...

That's not gonna work, unless the service center is on full on retard mode
Why I say that? Because when an update goes wrong, the worst that can happen is a soft brick, and a hard brick is only achievable by either messing up a botloader flash or a repartition flash...
Could you not get away with saying you had a power cut as you were flashing the update through kies or would that not do the same sort of damage?

WELL WELL the service centre i used is on full retard mode because I've just got away with it, so unless you tried
And I've seen a bunch of people on here over the last 4 mths who haven't 'got away' with it. Ergo, if you don't return the phone to stock firmware & reset the flash counter, you're taking pot luck basically.

Nothing illegal has been done so the worst they can do is refuse to repair it and charge a small fee to cover admin & courier to return it. I don't know about Samsung but for HTC thats about £30.
What they would probably do is say thay the warranty has been invalidated and give a quote to repair it. If you didn't want it repaired then they would return it on payment of the small fee mentioned above.

ALRIGHT! My SGS2 just came home! Just like new one! Updated too!
So im recommending http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/ site to everyone who had bricked their phones!
It came back after 3 weeks, and the price was fair!

It shows AT&T and keeps rebooting.. over and over. I have no idea if they will exchange it due to it being a t-mobile phone.
Maybe Try the jig
Not sure I know enough about the real issue other than you got the wrong rom. But, there is a jig you can make 301k resistor (or combo of a few to equal that number) soldered to a usb connector on # 4 & 5 pins look it up it will unbrick the phone and get you into the phone from there I not sure what you will need to do next but that would get you into the phone. Btw the resistors and usb cord less than 5 bucks good luck
Dude, you are being childish. I usually never flame but don't say you did because you didn't Enough. Slow down and take your time. If you are doing any kind of mods you should learn how to use Odin first, but unfortunately its always after the fact.
Learn how to use Odin, in the development bible I have a video there to show you how. Doesn't get any easier than that.

You are completely right. I was "trigger happy" you may say and I did it by rushing through it and ruined my phone. Luckily I have not yet sold my 3Gs and could use that until I get tmobile to exchange it.
The jig would most likely work for my case but I would need a step by step guide which unfortunately didn't find with images or video.
If I could just kill the AT&T boot logo it'd be perfect but sadly I can't.
I got the phone two days ago..so I am really sure I can get away with an exchange.
If you return the phone and it is booting with the At&t logo they will now you where messing with it and charge you the full amount of the phone which is around $400.
What you have is a soft brick. You can fix it if you bothered reading. Just follow this:

I wish mine was a soft brick but it isn't. That thread was for "phone ! PC" mine is a tmo vibrant that boot loops as AT&T captive since I flashed the wrong stock kernel.
Remove battery, SIM card and the external SD card.
Connect USB cord
Hold down both volume keys and insert the battery.

I took it to T-Mobile and said I did an update and this is what happened and they gave me a brand spanking new one! =D
Thanks for all your help though.

there was a failed message and my phone was locked in download mode. i shut it down by holding the power button and now it is in a hard bricked state. everything is black and nothing is recognised. when i plug in the charger nothing happens same with usb. ive tried all the button presses i could find volume up+home+power, volume down+home+power, volume down+home with no battery and then place battery... etc.

You flashed a I9000 ROM on an I9100 device?!
Kiss your phone goodbye unless you jtag it or send it to the service center.
You have flashed a rom for a different phone. The rom you flashed is for Galaxy S not Galaxy S II..
I have read a thread similar like this before but
for what I can remember his phone is permanently bricked. You might want to search
in the Q&A thread. This thread is for Android Development.

i don't know how i missed that. could you tell me what jtag is? is it the same as a jig?
thanks.
Yes it is totally bricked. Unless you have chance and want to try something. The USB jig to put i9000 and i9100 phone in download is the same ( Both use 151k oHms). If you try to use a jig on your phone you might be able to put it back on download mode. However, i would doubt that it work. Since you don't have the good Bootloader on your phone, i'm more like 97% sure it wont work. The black screen only is also a good sign of death. Sry to ear that. JTag is not the same thing than the jig btw. JTag is how they put the first information, at factory, on your phone. It can be used to put back the good bootloader on your phone. But if i remember well, only phone compagnie ( On this case Samsung) and a few person have what it take to make a JTag.

Thats from the creator of the i9000 ROM you just flashed.
Your phone is 100% bricked, just wondering why did you flash an i9000 ROM on a i9100 ROM, thats not only the wrong phone, but you also added a PIT files with Odin which also is not good for the i9100, and this ROM contains bootloaders.
its 100% bricked, however there is light at the end of the tunnel. A good friend of mine at Mobile Tech Videos can fix your phone 100%
hes the only guy that can do this around the world, only does it for 50 dollars, and he can guarantee fix your phone.
Just dont do this again, maybe next time flash DlevROM

I mean this guy is 100% trusted, and email him if you have questions.
hes the best bet for getting it back fast, and working.
Samsung will most likely play games, take longer, and ask you how this happened.
its your choice, but hes 100% legit, you dont have to use him Im just saying this is the best bet for saving you
Maybe if is better to send it to Samsung and let them figure it out.
If they ask what happened, just tell them that you left it on charger snd a few hours after it was dead. After all i doubt that theg can get info from inside the phone.
They will make a clean flash plus bootloaders.
That is what would i have done.

the reason why you should send it to dlev's friends shop to get it fixed instead of samsung is if samsung finds out what you did to the phone, they will probably charge you an arm and a leg for it...

Q: eh..uh...help....
Hi! I was doing this guide to do a STOCK ROOM format....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989&page=6
And it all went well i did the step-by-step guide...until Odin showed this "Do not turn of target"... ok so i w8 somewhat 10 mins and it still stood there..i was about to go from my desk to my printer when i accidently pulled the cable off from the computer and so it started...
First of all i dident take out my sim card before i did the procedure!
The phone was still in "Download mode" and i was unable to turn it off.
I opened the back cover to reach the battery and pulled it out and also i took out my sim card (just incase).
Tried to reboot my phone but it wont boot nor does it start to charge with the USB cable inserted in my PC.
My phone is practicly dead now and im kinda got a baad feeling about it...
Does anyone know or does anyone have a fix or solution for this?
Shouldent there be a reset button somewhere inside the phone to do a hard reset?
Note to reader: Ive done the hard and soft reset

How can i use Odin to unbrick it when i cant get it in download mode ?
Look on eBay for "Samsung Galaxy S2 jig" (minus the ", obviously ). Shouldn't cost more than a couple of bucks. If that doesn't get you in download mode it's either back to Samsung/your telco or....
You could try this guy . I can't vouch for their service, but I have seen a couple of positive reviews on here from memory and they might end up being cheaper/easier than going the Samsung/telco route if they refuse to fix it under warranty.
I have also seen reports/experiences where the local Samsung outfit didn't care the phone had been messed with & fixed it under warranty anyway.
So you've got a couple of options

If I were you I would do whatever I could to get this phone fixed. I had a problem similar to yours mine got stuck in download mode after a failed attempt at rooting using oden. I guess I got lucky though because I pulled the battery and the phone booted right back up with no problems. I would highly suggest keeping this phone it is far better than the Iphone 4s. My bro has it and he is always amazed at the things I can do with my phone that his cant! Not to mention the screen is a whole inch bigger and looks ALLOT better! Also, dont forget the 4s only has 512mb ram and a dual core 800mhz cpu while this beast has 1gig of ram and a 1.2ghz cpu! Thats a total of 800 more mhz for the galaxy! Not to mention allot of custom roms allow you to overclock!
If you want to do some modding, you should order it anyway. jigs are very cheap and you can remove the yellow triangle with it if you switch to a custom kernel. And like others say, force the phone into download mode.
Don't give up yet. You won't regret being a bit patient here ;-)

no. i cant get into recovery nor into download mode. the screen shows nothing at all and the phone doesnt vibrate. i did the tmobile chat and she said they might need to exchange it but would take 7-10 business days. i didnt tell her it was rooted tho. i was hoping the usb jig would unbrick it. i have an old usb from my other phone. i already cut it and stripped it but i need a 300k resistor and radioshack doesnt open in 1 more hour.
i just checked device manager and if i plug in my device it shows QHSUSB_DLOAD with a yellow exclamation.
update: i installed some drivers i found online and it now shows as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (com7) in device manager but odin wont recognize it still
so after doing the live chat with samsung and they wanted me to send them my phone to check it out and i had to wait 6-10 business days i went to my local tmobile store the guy tried to turn it on tried charging it and said to go back on wednesday because thats when they get them. so i am stuck with a loner phone.

So how did u brick it?
worst case, take it back to tmobile tell them that it got really hot and turned off and wont power up. they wont check anything. just get a new one. and DONT FLASH ANYTHING UNTIL YOU READ UP ON IT! we are all using the Rooted stock rom. just chill out for now... ROMS WILL COME. this is the hottest phone on the market...
I thought Samsung phones were unbrickable. Is this sort of thing common or was it a bad unit?

Use the jig. I made one with parts from Radio Shack and it works on the S3.

You are wrong in this case because he hard bricked it, which is why he only sees the QHUSB_DLOAD mode.
That requires special software in order to flash, and we don't get access to it.

yea i went yesterday and just said it wont turn on. he tried it and plugged it into the power outlet and nothing. he just said they dont get their shipments until wednesday(tomorrow) so i guess they will exchange it. good thing it was on warranty still. im guessing samsung wont be able to tell it was rooted since they cant access it and they will just reflash it and sell it as refurbished or something right?

An unbrickable phone does not exist. The closest to unbrickable as you can get is an iPhone. But it can be bricked if you try hard enough I'm sure. Strapping an m80 to my iPhone seemed to do the trick as well

unbrickable phones do exist, almost all samsung galaxy phones are capable of getting the "unbrickable mod" which is a hardware modification that enables the phone to be re-flashed without working bootloaders. but unbrickable out of the box, no.

I believe there are some that are very difficult to brick such as a setup that boots from sd like you mentioned. Regardless of how difficult it is to brick, there is always some idiot out there that will do the impossible

After Flashing Latest CM10.1 to my S3 and using it for a while, I wanted to go back to stock. I flashed stock 4.1.2, rooted it and installed CWM successfully. After a while I noticed that CWM can not mount internal SD card, or recover a nandroid backup from it. I thought it is a partition issue, so i have decided to flash GT-I9300_mx_20120220.pit to my S3 with re-paration checked. ODIN started the process, Pass appeared with green background. Since then, the device wont start in any mode. I tried every key combination with no luck. Tried to connect the device to pc, same result; device is dead. Pulling battery also did not work.Anything I can do to turn on the device in to download mode at least? Please help me. I am from Lebanon; here all the phones are sold with no warranty, so returning it to Samsung wont solve the problem? any solution? Thank you.
This may help

Honestly?
Without the ability to send it back to Samsung, i think you may be screwed
However, there may be a person on here that has had the same issue and managed to fix it (but i doubt it) - be a bit more patient and see if anyone else comes into the thread :good:

Hope so; you gave me a small hope. where is that guy?
Contact samsung and claim wareanty because of Sleep of Death.
What you mean it's sold without warranty, that goes against consumers right.
(that's your line right there)

90% of phones in Lebanon are sold through unauthorized sellers. If you want to buy it from Samsung agent here, you will end up paying $200 more. Bought my phone for $520, while it costs around $700 from authorized seller.
Is either that or a $200 + mobo replacement.
