Coming from tbolt - HTC Rezound

Getting my rezound Tuesday.
Wanna root it immediately but wondering what kind of issues you guys might get with your rezound cause not really sure about how the whole relocking your phone says phone relocked. Sorry its probably been asked but I've been searching for twenty minutes can the phone be completely relocked if the phone had issues.

You answered your own question. It can be relocked. But it'll say relocked.

So no ones figured it out then I take it

Figured what out?

To return the bootloader to factory locked not relocked. Just wondering cause I'm kinda weary of certified like new phones. I don't want to root have the hardware fail and not be covered. Or is this even a problem can it just be sent in relocked
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA

There's no way to put it back to full on "LOCKED" It'll say "RELOCKED" but there's been many people who've returned their Rezounds for different reasons with no issues because 99/100 times, the rep will not check to see if it's been unlocked or not.

It's not a problem. So far, nobody has reported a problem retuning a phone that has a real hardware problem with the phone in relocked condition.

Cool that's all I needed to know thanks

I returned a relocked Rezound for overheating with no problem a few months ago, but nobody can guaranty you will be able to do that. Technically you do void the warranty as soon as you unlock it.

You don't void your warranty, HTC says you may void your warranty.

So by may void your warranty pretty much HTC means if you brick it from flashing say a radio or send it back running ics then your screwed?

[Q] I have a situation

My Amaze 4g is rooted and rom'd etc.
A couple days ago the screen died. Like, it did something kinda of weird (flashed some grayish type colors) and then turned off. The phone still works etc but the screen is dead.
So, I can get a replacement phone but it is rooted and sending it back is too risky.
Is there anyway that I can restore my phone without having to see the screen?
Or, has anyone heard of this happening etc?
Thanks
You'll have to boot into fastboot and relock the bootloader. It might be a bit difficult to do so without actually being able to see what the screen should be showing, but overall it's a two step process: relock bootloader, load and flash stock RUU
So can you walk me through it? Lol, since I can't see the screen? Like, can you just direct me on what buttons to push.
do you have it insured? Maybe you might lose it tonight?
What i suggest is watch a youtube video on how to relock it and hwo to flash stock RUU adn get the timing.

Lol, it is actually my girls and they have already sent her a replacement. I just don't wanna send the broken screen one back yet (for obvious reasons)

You might as well just send it back because even if u figure out a way to relock it, it will say "relocked" therefore either way they will kno u unlocked it. But that shouldnt matter because the screen going dead is most likely a hardware issue which if it is it should still be covered by the warranty whether u unlocked it or not

No it only says it "may" void ur warranty.. so as long as the problem wasnt caused by you changing the software, like flashing roms and soforth, then they should still honor the warranty. And to me it sounds like a hardware issue so u should be fine.

OK cool. Because I searched everything and I did not ever find anything connecting screen crashes to roms

I think you should at least try and flash it to stock if not to just erase any personal info. Good luck
Yeah I am gonna still try. Just gotta getting the timing and button pushing down haha

Are you sure it's not just the backlight that's out? If it is, you can just grab a really bright flashlight and shine it at an angle, and you might, possibly, be able to see your screen. It will be faint but it might be enough to help you relock it.
Just crack the screen, tmo will charge you 50 bucks extra if the screen is cracked. At least this is what they told me when I had to get a replacement for my wife's phone.

Hmmm I will try the flashlight trick

I know quite a few people who returned their phone back to tmobile and were fine and they had the same type of issue you had.
Shouldn't be a problem.

[Q] What (software) condition does my phone have to be in for warranty?

Well, i have a rooted, s-offed, and rommed E3D, which is still in fully working condition except for the reason im sending it into repair.
The headphone jack doesn't output sound as well, and seems to be loose because any pair of headphones I use, the sound only comes out of right side unless I push and hold the wire in the jack.
So my question is, because I know this isn't a simple fix, and music is a major part of my life, do I have to S-on, unroot, and install the stock rom to send it into repair?
S-on, relocked and with Stock firmware+rom
Brought mine into a sprint repair center, 1 week after i had received it as a refurb, with 1.4 s-off and myns ics rom with some screen and button light issues. They looked at it and swapped it out for another refurb without saying a word. I guess i would call ahead and ask.

From everything I've seen, the official policy is that Sprint techs are not supposed to discriminate against rooted users and have been very good about following that policy. You should be fine if you just take it in, especially since it is a hardware issue.

Thanks for your replies guys! However, I'm not with Sprint, I'm with Rogers. Would the best course of action be to go S-ON, relocked, and stock rom?
The last thing I want is to end up waiting two weeks, get a repaired phone, then be charged 200 dollars for it.

Relock without fastboot

M moms rezound broke. Well just the charging port so I cant hook up to PC to use fast boot and do that writesecureflag3 command. I don't want to send this thing back s-off.
Is there a way to brick it? With a ph98img.zip file?

Just send it the people who receive them don't give a ****. They just load the correct software on it and go to the next phone...I and many other people have done this a bazillion times. In fact I've never returned a phone that wasn't rooted AND running a custom rom.

So no one had an issue returning a Rezound that was unlocked through HTC's website but then relocked before returning? They don't check to see if it says re-locked?

In fact, some people have received devices that passed the "100 point inspection" that still had CWM or CyanogenMod still on them
I returned an incredible that still had cwm on it and a rezound that said relocked on it with no problem at all, I wouldn't doubt that they make that statement just to scare you into not doing it.

AT&T warranty department and relocked bootloader

So long story short, my HOX+ broke and the touch screen stopped working. I rejoiced the bootloader and RUUed it but HBoot had the 'Relocked' flag... Has anybody else been in this situation and been charged?
I sent it in via their mail return service.
Thanks,
IE

Just got mine back from repair. I didn't even take the time to re lock the bootloader or flash the stock ruu. They are going to completely disassemble your phone to determine the cause of the failure. Mine was obvious, I broke the screen. Once they determine the cause they will send you a quote or "repair" it under warranty. By repair I mean they are going to send you a new phone. Having the phone unlocked should play no factor in your case unless they determine the cause to be directly related.

I'm on my third warranty phone. Have bad luck. First one I re locked and got replacement with no issues and the second one I sent it off with a custom rom and it was fine lol. They never gave me any issues

HTC screen exchange

I shattered the screen on my phone called for the one replacement for free no problems there. I chose to get the replacement device instead of having them fix mine. Should I flash this phone back to stock before sending it back in? I have boot loader unlocked but not S-off the phone. Any thoughts or experiences welcome. Thanks

I just went through this. Before I sent mine back I went S-off, locked bootloader, removed the tampered and relocked tags, and went 100% stock, I left it s-off since people say this trips the tags again and can cause other problems. They still tried to charge me $290 to replace the motherboard since it was unlocked (they check if you requested an unlock token even though this doesn't mean you used it). After arguing with them they finally said they would fix my phone for free since it was all stock ("HTC supported software").
Ultimately, you'll have to see what they say when you send it back. For some people, HTC hasn't said a thing even if they left s-on and had relocked tag, for others they charged them $290 no matter what. The only advice I can offer if this happens is to point out that there are two separate warranties, a Limited Warranty and an Expanded Limited Warranty (the screen replacement). The screen warranty says nothing about unlocking your phone voiding the warranty.
I opted for the replacement phone I'm trying to use the RUU to flash back to stock but haven't gotten it yet. Hopefully I can get it back don't really want to be charged that much
