I have used one of these cables to connect my Brainwavz M4 with microphone to my Xperia Active.
It is a small 5cm cable that plugs into Xperia phones which will allow you to use previously incompatible headphones with mic/vol control.
Picked it up for $8 from mobimega.
Model: Fiio LU2

i am busy trying to connect lapel mics to my Xperia T through a TRRS cable but with the assistance of this cable i should be able to do it. no body around here knows what i am talking about when i ask for a OMPT to CTIA converter cable.
your assistance would be greatly apreciated,
thanks
Jamey
so i used the Iphone connector/converter cable and it works. the only thing is you cant push the mic jack in all the way otherwize it doesnt pick up but other than that it works great.

Hi,
I am planning to but FIIO LU2 Adapter For my live with walkman. I have already bought MH-Ex300AP(Xperia Z Headphones Which is CTIA Based).
Will FIIO LU2 Adapter make MH-Ex300AP compatible with my phone(live with walkman)?
Thanks in Advance....
You could always crack the mic unit open and reverse the GND and V-Mic pinout.
I should know, I did this to some Xperia Sola (CTIA) headsets and they work perfectly with my Mini Pro.
Anything available in india.. want to use sound magic mp21

I know some cables that have function like Fiio LU2 such as Sony Ericsson EC 250, but all of them not available in Vietnam :crying:
I have CTIA/OMTP converter (I think is official sony) and it works for sound, mic and main button, but volume buttons don't work. I have a Xperia Ray with GB and in ear headphones for iPod, iPhone. Are volume buttons incompatible with this settings? I need a third party app?

Hey,
i have a huge Problem. Somehow the sound of my phone kind of only works with headphones.
Sometimes the rear speaker will give sounds but generally the windows media player never works with the speaker.
Strangely though the alarm works with the speaker. But when i get a phone call, the microphone and the front and rear speaker dont work. if i plugin the earphones it works fine, but as soon as i pull them out it doesent work anymore...
ive tried using different roms but it just wont work.
I have the feeling my system thinks the headphones are plugged in all the time and doesent recognise, when they get pulled out.
Anyone got an idea?

Let me tell you that i have exactlly the same problem
My device recognise that a hands free kit is still inserted even when i unplug it !!!
so, when i get an incoming call or alarm event, the internal speaker works.
Otherwise, no sound till i plug in the hands free kit.
any help please !!!

Let's ask firstlly if that is a hardware or a soft issus ???
And i suppose that is a hardware problem !
in the other hand, i disassembled my Qtek looot's of times and i didn't find any dammaged thing wich corresponds to the sound !!!

Sound problem fix
I had the same problem. Easy fix. Blow in the earphone hole a few times.
It worked for me. Guess there was dirt inside.
you have to open your device like what i did.
But be carefull.
if don't know how to open your device, i advice you to not to do it.
ask an experienced hands to heal your Prophet
after opening your device, look at the jack, you will see it covered, its actually covered by a lil plastic cover that you can pop off with a small screw driver. the jack will be like this

when you unplug the earphones, the metal parts shown in the red circle on the photo must be connected.
when you put in the earphones the metal parts must be disconnected.

...I think it's not secessary at all....... I had the same problem and I did:
(DO THIS ON YOUR OWN RISK!!!)
1st. Put a .mp3 song using your mp3 player (for example tcpmp or windows media player)
2nd. Insert your 2.5mm headphone jack one time, two times, three times...and revove it doing a little angle..(similar to lever)
3rd. If you can't make your speaker sing, try to insert a different item through the speakers hole (be careful!!!)
I repaired it and I never had the same problem!!!

Sound Problem
I had the same problem as you. As " specter16" said, the problem is the hardware inside the 2.5mm jack. After plugging in the headfones in and out a few times the problem occured and i had to open my device again. I never found a real solution, and so I started to use Bluetooth-Headphones (iTech Blueband)
I use them now for about 2 years....
Maybe anyone of you will try them^^
Hi Members
I'm currently using a Note2 but I love the screen size, speed and quality shown by the Xperia Z Ultra so i'm thinking this may be my next phone.
At the moment, i can hook up SGNote2 to my Hifi via an 'OTG USB host' adapter lead, a further 'USB to MiniUSB' cable which then plugs into my HRT Headstreamer Mobile DAC, will I be able to do the same with the Xperia Z Ultra?
Also, does the Sony have any issues with regards to playing 'flash plugin' Web content and media?
And lastly please, Samsung uses a device call an 'AllShare Cast hub' to mirror what's on the SNote2 onto a HD TV , how does/will the Xperia Z Ultra work to do this same feature, is there Sony equivalent device?
Any advise would be great thanks
Regards

Thanks for the help Rokkaman, i couldn't help myself and went ahead and bought the SZU.
I did find out that mirror casting should be no problem (i also purchased a Netgear Push2tv), I'm gonna take my chances with my HRT Headstreamer Mobile DAC, and hope that it will work with the Sony phone.
The HRT DAC's tend to be 'firmware' designed with a high rate of standard conformity, but if there's a problem then I'll have to look for another DAC product like your make and model, hopefully this won't be necessary though.
Regards

Like the Xperia Z, the Xperia Z Ultra should likely work with the AudioQuest DragonFly using USB Audio Recorder PRO available on Google Play store. There is a free trial version.

With just an OTG adapter and using the Walkman app I was able to use my Fiio E17 as a USB DAC streaming both MP3 and FLAC to it from C6802.
Could not make my Astel and Kern 120 work at all. It would cause the AK120 to lock up each time it was connected and USB DAC was selected. Would need to soft-reset even after USB was disconnected.

So what you're saying, is that a) the E17 is being supported by the ZU and b) the quality you can get from this combination is superior compared to the E17-S4 configuration?
No,with the e17 you have two options : 1.to get the digital file directly from usb port and to convert inside the e17 - in this case the source of music doesn't matter S4 or Z or Zu 2. To get the sound decoded by fone and only amplified by E17. I was talking about the sound.from the phone alone. It is awful and I am disappointed by Sony. My headphones are Sennheiser Momentum. I am lucky enough cause I have the option 1....with alpen. Sorry for my English.

I bought the x3 for my xperia z utltra works great with the otg cable but you can only use the audio recorder app from playstore as a player, which does not playback mp3s.
I wish there was another way to use the x3 as a dac and use it with my z ultra and use other players like poweramp or neutron player but so far it does not work that way.
If there is another way tell me please how to use the x3 as a dac, as after i listened to music from x3 as a dac i decided that the way I want to listen to music from now on.
Hi I found a pair of USB type C to 3.5 mm headphone jack adapters on amazon, and i plug it into the HTC U11 and before i even plug the headphones in it says this accessory is not supported.
I have headphones all over the place and I want a few adapters to leave on them so I don't have to carry one around with me.
Does anyone know of an adapter that is supported by the U11? Or a way to make the ones I have now work?

It's not working because there is no Amp/DAC in it.
Just the original HTC will work.
Unsure what you're asking me.
HTC only sent one pair, where can I get more that will work as I said I have multiple headphones

In Europe they are available on the HTC webshop.
Why you just unplug each time you want to swap?

Just because I have a pair of headphones in my truck, gym bag, at my office and at home. The ones online are cheap I thought for a few bucks I could have adapted all my headphones instead of having to carry one around!
Those cheap ones won't do. Buy them officially from HTC. Send the Amazon ones back for a refund.
Any idea on what options you have for spares in countries HTC does not not offer the adapter for sale (Australia for example)
Anyone want to trade their adapter for my headphones? I have never liked the earbud style I cannot get them to stay in my ears I would rather use the over ear headphones I already have but want more adapters

Yes! Works fine with cheap USB-C to 3.5mm adapter. I use it on my U Ultra, that come with no adapter in package.
I bought the Pro key, that´s enable other type of output. Is this case. just select "Wired headset with Mic"

Do you know how this works. Is SoundAbout a DAC what exactly is it? I am asking because I got the Pixel 2 and it does not have a analog out like The HTC Bolt or HTC U11

It works. I can only suppose how it do it. Routing outputs. As U Ultra and U11 have analog output over USB-C, it route output to USB-C pins and you will have an analog output with analog quality. The DAC will works on board. I can say that quality differences between original HTC adapter with DAC and a generic with soundabout are minimal.
That´s it. It Work.
I bought this because I had an U Ultra before and it come with no HTC adapter and I love my 3.5mm phones.

Maybe Pixel 2 doesn´t have analog output over USB-C or it´s blocked. Think that if you have speakers, you have an DAC onboard to convert digital to that analog speakers.
Have you tested SoundAbout and nothing happens? Even routing to different options? Or another adapter? on U11 an U Ultra I´ve tested on many types of adapters, including original Moto Z and all works fine.
But I don ´t have a Pixel 2 to test. (HTC and Pixels are rare on Brazil)
You will need:
3.5MM Jack Plug
Resistor - 50 ohms or more (the one i used is 68 ohms)
(soldering iron is optional)
Jack scheme: You will need to solder the resistor to the Right(R) and to Common(C) and that's it (the first time i tried it didn't work when i connected the left to common, idk why so i used right).

For those who dont have a soldering iron, it can be done simply by doing it like this:
And that is pretty much it. It cost me 0.60 BGN, turned over it costs 0.36 USD / 0.30 EU, prices may vary depending on where you live.

Its used to trick your phone into high impedance mode so you can use headphones with impedance lower than 50 ohms with higher impedance for higher volume

If you have the hifi dac and your custom rom supports it there shouldn't be any problem. You will need an extension cable like mine so you can unplug the adapter and plug the headphones. ( For the parts look at some local audio stores )

H870 does not have the hifi dac sorry... If you want higher volume edit the mixer path file look it up.The model used here is H870DS
Can i use this to drop the impedance?
Can i use this adaptor to use a low impedance headphone on a high impedance amplifier? I have a 68 Ohm headphones which are noisy when plugged to my OTL headphone amp. If i use this, will it eliminate the noise?
Normal headphone/headset impedance is 16 and 32ohms for mobile use. And over 15 years ago i discovered that the then new volume limiters(hyper crap) can adapt to the impedance, so using a 16 instead of 32ohms headset did not result in higher volume and even the equalizer curve could be flattened and distorted to not exceed the max volume(that was with a jurassic Nokia 6230 and all following phones). You need sort of high efficiency headsets/headphones and i found such from Sennheiser.
But in case you have the hifi DAC the above mentioned trick will do it. Not for me(also H870), though.
First of all thank you for your idea @Fearup. I tried to follow the scheme that you propose but in my case it didn't work. What it worked for my was connecting one end of the resistor to both channels L/R and the other end to common. Anyway thanks so much, now my iems sounds much better on my v35

Hi everybody,
I just got my Xperia 1 III and I tried to use my old Sony Noise Cancelling headphones MDR-NC31E, and I'm getting error that these headphones are not compatible with my device.
After closing this error message, music continues to play on speakers.
Any other random generic wired headphones are working normally.
Is there anything I can do to trick my phone to use these headphones?

Yeah they won't work buddy due to the extra ring around the 3.5 auxiliary on the earphones, I have the other ones can't remember the name but they haven't worked on any Xperia since the X series it's a shame I know

So any standard wired headphones will work normally, and noise cancelling ones won't (even other generic brands)?
for some reason i see this too with all my earphones (Sennheiser i300, campfire audio polaris, campfire audio atlas) and i found numerous people on the web having similar problems always with sony devices. also had this problem with my xperia 1 ii. but i found if i just unplug and replug most times on 2nd or 3rd attempt they do work. very annoying.

Any normal wired and any other NC wired ones should work other than the 2 Sony made where the NC relied on the custom aux connection inside the phone, they made a different version of them for phones that wasn't there's at the time which had a box connected the wire to power the Noise Cancellation technology,

That's pretty strange I thought it would just be their own wired NC earphones which relied on their custom aux connection to power the NC via the phone,
You'd lose the noise cancelling functionality, but a generic adapter extension dongle like this one will let you at least connect them to the phone to listen. (NB - not specifically recommending this particular listing, but it'll probably work fine, as I'm sure a few others will.)
That sounds about right - i.e. why it doesn't work. The way those headphones worked in your other Sony phones is because the headphone jack had five poles, or thereabouts (that's the individual sections you see on the connector tip) which had to line up with the jack for L&R, Mic and then noise cancellation. If your headset is not five pole, or thereabouts, and the poles don't align to the phones pole connections then you are SOL.
can anyone make a recommendation for a good pair of wired earbuds that work well with the xperia line? i have 3 pairs of good earbuds (sennheiser ie300, campfire audio atlas and polaris). they all work but i have to plug them in 2 or 3 times to get them to work. had this problem with the 1 ii and now with the 1 iii. all 3 earbuds have only 2 rings on the connector. maybe that’s the problem.
