DIY Impedance Adapter (dirt cheap) - LG G6 Guides, News, & Discussion

You will need:
3.5MM Jack Plug
Resistor - 50 ohms or more (the one i used is 68 ohms)
(soldering iron is optional)
Jack scheme: You will need to solder the resistor to the Right(R) and to Common(C) and that's it (the first time i tried it didn't work when i connected the left to common, idk why so i used right).

For those who dont have a soldering iron, it can be done simply by doing it like this:
And that is pretty much it. It cost me 0.60 BGN, turned over it costs 0.36 USD / 0.30 EU, prices may vary depending on where you live.

Its used to trick your phone into high impedance mode so you can use headphones with impedance lower than 50 ohms with higher impedance for higher volume

If you have the hifi dac and your custom rom supports it there shouldn't be any problem. You will need an extension cable like mine so you can unplug the adapter and plug the headphones. ( For the parts look at some local audio stores )

H870 does not have the hifi dac sorry... If you want higher volume edit the mixer path file look it up.The model used here is H870DS

Can i use this to drop the impedance?
Can i use this adaptor to use a low impedance headphone on a high impedance amplifier? I have a 68 Ohm headphones which are noisy when plugged to my OTL headphone amp. If i use this, will it eliminate the noise?

Normal headphone/headset impedance is 16 and 32ohms for mobile use. And over 15 years ago i discovered that the then new volume limiters(hyper crap) can adapt to the impedance, so using a 16 instead of 32ohms headset did not result in higher volume and even the equalizer curve could be flattened and distorted to not exceed the max volume(that was with a jurassic Nokia 6230 and all following phones). You need sort of high efficiency headsets/headphones and i found such from Sennheiser.
But in case you have the hifi DAC the above mentioned trick will do it. Not for me(also H870), though.

First of all thank you for your idea @Fearup. I tried to follow the scheme that you propose but in my case it didn't work. What it worked for my was connecting one end of the resistor to both channels L/R and the other end to common. Anyway thanks so much, now my iems sounds much better on my v35

fm transmitter?

can anyone recommend a quality fm transmitter? dont have an aux input in my car radio (damn thing has everything else but no input!).
I believe belkin might make a mini usb transmitter. But u can use on of those tape deck converters with a headphone attached. That's what I use from time to time. I'm not sure if ur radio has a tape deck lol considering its dead tech lmao
lol! My radio's not that old. Couple of years but was one of the better pioneers. Quite a few bells & whistles, sat. radio, ect., just no stupid aux input!
this one is £4.99 ($8.15656) it is really good once you find a free frequency and powering it from the car cigarette lighter is a must because it is SH*T when running it from batteries
Are you sure it doesn't have an aux round the back?
I picked up an FM transmitter from Netto for £1.99 or £2.99 a while back, quite big though. They were selling it as "Wireless headphones" as it came with some FM headphones.

In Italy is not possible to use it as described. The problem? No free fm freqeuncy, and even if found one in the car is mandatory to change frequency to find new frenquently. So useless, the only solution can be to remove the camble of the antenna and to put it near the fm trasmitter but in this case we have to rennunce to the fm radio.

Same for me. I have the Belkin transmitter, but never could use it.
You just struggle to find a free frequency, and a few kilometers later, it is all jammed already.
I even tried to find something like 3 different frequencies for different parts of my daily trip... and I failed...
And even when I found some working frequencies, sound was rarely free from perturbations.
Note that country legislations are different (I am in France) and maybe in us you can have a transmitter with stronger emission, which might improve the situation a bit.
( linked Belkin product : "This product is compliant with the EU standard for Band II Low Power Devices for use in Germany, Switzerland and Iceland" so maybe try a US version instead ? )
I did not try unplugging external antenna. If it did solve the problem, you would have to find a way to have a switch to plug/unplug it... (not so easy !)

for me the only solution that can let it work properly is to find the cable of the antenna in the car. After discovered out where is located try to put the trasmitter very close to the antenna cable. It can work. Another solution can be to reduce a little the power of receiving signals of the antenna, that can let to listen good the frequency well trasmitted and at the same time to
free some others.
Found this on Cellphoneshop.com
http://www.cellphoneshop.net/dashfm.html
Dude fmtalk kicks ass!!
update: I tryed to use the fm trasmitter buyed without the battery but only using the alimentation from the car. The things seems to work really good now. Even with a not clear radio station is trasmitting with more power and the signal of the fmtrasmitter is going over other signals.
If is possible to reduce a little the power of the car's antenna it will be really really perfect!
Here is one from Dealextreme.com.
Pros:
Cheap
Puts out a strong FM signal
Remote is nice, even though it's goofy looking
Charges and transmits at same time.
Cons:
Low Volume
Bad bass output
Takes forever to arrive.
Cheap plastic.

Yep, just got mine today as well. Works fine, remote is goofy as hell (have yet to try it though). It could fit a little snugger, but it holds will concidering the extra thickness with my battery.
No weird hissing and strong output with pandora and music on my sd card.
4/5 for it "just working", but doing it well.

CTIA and OMTP headphone converter cable

I have used one of these cables to connect my Brainwavz M4 with microphone to my Xperia Active.
It is a small 5cm cable that plugs into Xperia phones which will allow you to use previously incompatible headphones with mic/vol control.
Picked it up for $8 from mobimega.
Model: Fiio LU2

i am busy trying to connect lapel mics to my Xperia T through a TRRS cable but with the assistance of this cable i should be able to do it. no body around here knows what i am talking about when i ask for a OMPT to CTIA converter cable.
your assistance would be greatly apreciated,
thanks

so i used the Iphone connector/converter cable and it works. the only thing is you cant push the mic jack in all the way otherwize it doesnt pick up but other than that it works great.
i have the Xperia T
I hope this will work on sony mh1c.

Hi,
I am planning to but FIIO LU2 Adapter For my live with walkman. I have already bought MH-Ex300AP(Xperia Z Headphones Which is CTIA Based).
Will FIIO LU2 Adapter make MH-Ex300AP compatible with my phone(live with walkman)?
Thanks in Advance....
You could always crack the mic unit open and reverse the GND and V-Mic pinout.
I should know, I did this to some Xperia Sola (CTIA) headsets and they work perfectly with my Mini Pro.

USB-C to 3.5 mm adapter - HTC U11 says "not supported"

Hi I found a pair of USB type C to 3.5 mm headphone jack adapters on amazon, and i plug it into the HTC U11 and before i even plug the headphones in it says this accessory is not supported.
I have headphones all over the place and I want a few adapters to leave on them so I don't have to carry one around with me.
Does anyone know of an adapter that is supported by the U11? Or a way to make the ones I have now work?

It's not working because there is no Amp/DAC in it.
Just the original HTC will work.
Unsure what you're asking me.

Why you just unplug each time you want to swap?

Just because I have a pair of headphones in my truck, gym bag, at my office and at home. The ones online are cheap I thought for a few bucks I could have adapted all my headphones instead of having to carry one around!
Those cheap ones won't do. Buy them officially from HTC. Send the Amazon ones back for a refund.
Any idea on what options you have for spares in countries HTC does not not offer the adapter for sale (Australia for example)
Anyone want to trade their adapter for my headphones? I have never liked the earbud style I cannot get them to stay in my ears I would rather use the over ear headphones I already have but want more adapters
Adapter cost 13e and shipping 26e Wtf htc
HTC won't ship from UK store to US.... US is sold out. This sucks

I bought the Pro key, that´s enable other type of output. Is this case. just select "Wired headset with Mic"

It works. I can only suppose how it do it. Routing outputs. As U Ultra and U11 have analog output over USB-C, it route output to USB-C pins and you will have an analog output with analog quality. The DAC will works on board. I can say that quality differences between original HTC adapter with DAC and a generic with soundabout are minimal.
That´s it. It Work.
I bought this because I had an U Ultra before and it come with no HTC adapter and I love my 3.5mm phones.

Maybe Pixel 2 doesn´t have analog output over USB-C or it´s blocked. Think that if you have speakers, you have an DAC onboard to convert digital to that analog speakers.
Have you tested SoundAbout and nothing happens? Even routing to different options? Or another adapter? on U11 an U Ultra I´ve tested on many types of adapters, including original Moto Z and all works fine.
But I don ´t have a Pixel 2 to test. (HTC and Pixels are rare on Brazil)

Which 32 bit DAC and AMP is used inside Huawei Mate 10?

As title says, they mentioned that Mate 10 has headphone jack which includes a 32 bit dac inside. I am curious to know which dac brand and model they used in their new flagahip.
Huawei Mate 10 Pro doesn't have a headphone jack, but I'm also wondering if it has that 32bit DAC.
Their slides say it has 32-bit for the Pro USB-C as well.

No, Mate 10 Pro does not have analog output (via USB-C), hence it does not have a Digital-to-Analog-Converter (DAC). Mate10Pro has digital output via USB-C. You need to buy your own DAC (either built-in into your headset, or other USB-C compatible DAC).
Now the non-pro model, that actually has a DAC, who knows?
The whole press event from Huawei was very obsfucating and didn't properly specify which features were non-pro OR Pro-model features. The same goes for the actual huawei.com specifications pages for these models.
Until the phones ship, are torn down and or rooted, we have to wait for the information.
I'm still hoping that the China model (6GB/128GB) of non-Pro Mate (with sdcard and 3.5mm headphone jack) turns up for sale online and has the nice features I'm hoping it has.

What's the source of this information?
The Mate 10 Pro box comes with a USB-C headset.
It also comes with a USB-C to headphone adaptor. Will that adaptor have the DAC then?
What if I use an adaptor with analogue audio pass-through. What DAC will it use then? I assume it will still use a 32-bit DAC on the pro? Otherwise digital only.
If it comes with a USB-C to 3.5mm adaptor, then the device has a DAC

The output is analog. Confirmed by a guy on youtube who connected the pro using the inbox usb-c to 3.5mm adapter to an external loud speaker.
The usb type c converter might have a dacs even the apple one has ,and so does the HTC u 11(I guess)
However they might be talking about the ones that might be integrated in their soc.
Don't get your hopes high though.Nothing can still beat the v20
We recieved the usb-c to 3.5mm audiojack, but Huawei told us it is wil not be in the consumer box.
However the usb-c earphones will be in the box
The Pro does have the audio adapter in the box.
What is confusing is what standard and how is Huawei implementing it. I have a pair of Razer Hammerhead Type C headphones. They work fine as you'd expect with the Razer phone. They work really well with my MacBook Pro and show up as USB C headphones, but plug into the Mate 10 and it says they are not digitally certified and dont sound great.
So does that mean Huawei need a headphones with a DAC built in to work ? or something else.
Whatahifi.com Huawei Mate 10 Pro
DAC: Digital to analogue convertor
Phone = Digital
Headphones = Analogue
Sorry to say but you have no idea of what your talking about.
A DAC is a Digital-to-Analog Converter. A DAC [Digital-to-Analog Converter] is a device that converts digital audio information (comprised of a series of 0s and 1s) into an analog audio signal that can be sent to a headphone amp.
Conclusion:
Every digital device has a DAC. Differentiation is made by the quality and amplifier power. I like AKM DAC's for example. Son unless you guys have discovered a way to build a phone with lamps you have listen to a DAC.
P. S. According do What a HiFI it has a High End DAC but the phone stutters heavely so I think I am going to return it.

You have partially right, ther is not only a DAC solution, ther is PWN ! PWM is the best way to have a ****ing damn really good sound !
We have to know if the manufacturer use a DAC or PWM, and what is the chip used.
I personally use a "FX Audio D802". It is a Class-D amplifier, all class-D are PWM and do not use a DAC of course. And it sound really great, really better than a lot of expensive DAC+amplifier.
I personnaly don't love the Qualcomm DAC, i think it is really poor. I know some OPPO, ZTE and some others (Huawei/Honor ?) use AKM DAC but don't know wich one
Is anybody know what the chip used on the phones ? ... the only way to have good sound is to use a DAP.

Question Noise Cancelling wired headphones - issues

Hi everybody,
I just got my Xperia 1 III and I tried to use my old Sony Noise Cancelling headphones MDR-NC31E, and I'm getting error that these headphones are not compatible with my device.
After closing this error message, music continues to play on speakers.
Any other random generic wired headphones are working normally.
Is there anything I can do to trick my phone to use these headphones?

Hi everybody,
I just got my Xperia 1 III and I tried to use my old Sony Noise Cancelling headphones MDR-NC31E, and I'm getting error that these headphones are not compatible with my device.
After closing this error message, music continues to play on speakers.
Any other random generic wired headphones are working normally.
Is there anything I can do to trick my phone to use these headphones?

Yeah they won't work buddy due to the extra ring around the 3.5 auxiliary on the earphones, I have the other ones can't remember the name but they haven't worked on any Xperia since the X series it's a shame I know

So any standard wired headphones will work normally, and noise cancelling ones won't (even other generic brands)?
for some reason i see this too with all my earphones (Sennheiser i300, campfire audio polaris, campfire audio atlas) and i found numerous people on the web having similar problems always with sony devices. also had this problem with my xperia 1 ii. but i found if i just unplug and replug most times on 2nd or 3rd attempt they do work. very annoying.

Any normal wired and any other NC wired ones should work other than the 2 Sony made where the NC relied on the custom aux connection inside the phone, they made a different version of them for phones that wasn't there's at the time which had a box connected the wire to power the Noise Cancellation technology,

That's pretty strange I thought it would just be their own wired NC earphones which relied on their custom aux connection to power the NC via the phone,
You'd lose the noise cancelling functionality, but a generic adapter extension dongle like this one will let you at least connect them to the phone to listen. (NB - not specifically recommending this particular listing, but it'll probably work fine, as I'm sure a few others will.)
That sounds about right - i.e. why it doesn't work. The way those headphones worked in your other Sony phones is because the headphone jack had five poles, or thereabouts (that's the individual sections you see on the connector tip) which had to line up with the jack for L&R, Mic and then noise cancellation. If your headset is not five pole, or thereabouts, and the poles don't align to the phones pole connections then you are SOL.
can anyone make a recommendation for a good pair of wired earbuds that work well with the xperia line? i have 3 pairs of good earbuds (sennheiser ie300, campfire audio atlas and polaris). they all work but i have to plug them in 2 or 3 times to get them to work. had this problem with the 1 ii and now with the 1 iii. all 3 earbuds have only 2 rings on the connector. maybe that’s the problem.
