i opened this Thread, so that the Galaxy Player 5 and 4 don'T share the same thread for ICS.
It's to confusing.
I will also update this Post with the current state of work.

Yeah um, ambrice came out with CM7 and tdmcode also came out with CM7 and there are free ics themes on the Play Store that you could use with Theme Chosser, soo..... This isn't really nessacary... Sorry.
No, this is for Galaxy Player 4.0
Not for 5.0
At the moment the ICS Port thread is used for both.
And CM7 is not ICS. On the 4.0 we also have CM7 but thats not the point.

Thanks for the thought but the 4.0 and 5.0 players are similar enough that one thread is really nice, at least for me (I just hope JackpotClavin doesn't get too irritated by me tagging along on his coattails and asking questions). IMO it would be better to have a separate thread for CM7 and CM9.
Also, I have a project on github created for all the ROMs. It will host both CM7 and CM9 for 4.0 and 5.0 players. Assuming all the devs agree, and they all have so far.

Ok i didn't knew. The ROMs are interchangeable between 4 and 5? That means, we only need kernel or? I have eu player, so if I could help. I will help.

I originaly made ICS Port thread for the 4.0 (but I didin't specify it because it is only the method of porting it) with the time it became the HQ for ICS port to both galaxy players. (4.0 and 5.0)
But it the screenshots of the post it displayed a 5.0?

NOTE:I am certainly not a developer nor do I know anything about porting. This is just an idea that I have in mind.
After seeing ICS Domination's Theme from Vertumus, I have grown to favour it. However, it is only available for SGS2. Recently, I PM'd Vertumus asking if we can port it and I still do not know the answer.
If he says we can, can anyone take the role of porting it (if possible)?
UPDATE: He accepted my request though I unfortunately do not know how to port.
Can someone take the role or teach me the basics to this?

I am still pretty new when it comes to android developing, but I have been learning and will try to take a look at his theme. But don't expect much though; I'm still learning the basics of smali coding.

Ok. At the moment I'm stuck on my own theme port, which won't accept to work . So i will try this first.

John_2k2 is porting it in his ROM. 'GingerGeneric' for SGP 5.0 he's already ported it just doing some testing

Good idea,you can use CM9 now.
But only on the 5.0, and we need it for 4.0 also.
I am a little new on this whole development stuff, but I was curious if cyanogenmod 9 will be available to the 4.0 galaxy player. I have researched ice cream sandwich and it does indeed, look very interesting and it looks like it has some very nice features. If someone could give me a answer, that would be great I have a completely stock US version Galaxy Player 4.0. I know it would require root, and I am willing to if i need to.

Thanks, but i just tried to flash steves kernal using ODIN, and im pretty sure i accidently opened the TAR using notepad instead of 7zip. Now all i see is a hazard symbol with a phone and computer on either side? What does this mean?

I don't have the Galaxy Note (yet), but before I pick one up, I've got a few questions about the available ROMS.
1. Which ROM floating around out there is closest to Stock ICS? (I'd be coming from a Galaxy Nexus.)
2. Are there any ROMS that get rid of all the Samsung Custom Apps? Not just TouchWiz, I'll get rid of that with ADWLauncher, but all the customizations that Samsung has done to Messenger, Calendar, etc.
I'm eager to get the Note, but I want to make sure it's easily "De-Samsung-ified" first.

Thanks, That does look good, but I'm a bit apprehensive when I see Beta in the title. Is this what you're using? Can you post screenshots of the Messenging and Calendar apps? The Samsung customizations of those really bother me. I know it's nitpicking, I'm a bit anal with my devices...
It comes shipped with the Samsung apps, there is an aosp app ad on within the roms ota feature.
There isn't a true aosp ROM for the note... Yet.
Thanks @studacris @briand.mooreg for the suggestion. Are there any others, I'm looking for a stable, non-beta ROM to use at first, but once I get confortable with the device, I'll play around with it more.
It's only a beta by name alone. because we, the collective, have much more in store for it.

The reality of the situation is that all of the i717 ICS ROMS are based on a leaked ICS build, not something official.

When the source comes out, will it be posted online like Google posts the images for the Nexus devices? I ask because I'm just looking for as Pure an ICS experience as I can get.
I don't even have the Note yet, but I flashed my Galaxy Nexus to AOSP ICS tonight and I'm a bit eager to dive into Android experimenting and maybe eventually cooking up a ROM myself.

Dude thuer all beta or alpha we have no source codes to make a rc ics rom yet but its coming don't worry and most ics roms out right now are very stable and very nice don't be afraid lol go buy a note and Ice it out

I think we should seperate the 4.0 and 5.0 forum into two seperate forums. Most of the roms and kernels, etc... are not cross compatible so there is no reason why we should keep them as a single forum. and if not, then we should at least have two different android development sections in this forum so we can keep everything seperate.

first the 5.0 version was more active than the 4.0 version or at least i felt that way,and now i see more and more 4.0 topics so i guess the 4.0 are the king of queens
Too bad, that Samsung threw 2 players on the market last year. If only the differences weren't that big. I mean e.g. why does the sgp5 has a flash light but no Wolfson DAC?
The developement base combined would be so much stronger for both devices.
Now, maybe Android Jelly Bean gives development for both devices a little push.
Currently I have no idea how to get jellybean to the sgp devices. Only the 5.0 has ics and a lot of stuff is still broken. But separate forums is a good idea and maybe add the 3.6 and 4.2 players...

+1 from me, at the moment it's so hard to find updates for the 5.0 roms in that huge pile of 4.0 threads. It would be so much easier to have a subforum for that.

That's the thing, there are NO updates for the 5.0 GB ROMS. ICS ROMS are not usable if you care for the crappy camera, Bluetooth functionality or HW acceleration.

I will be working with gmillz and supermaster 34 to give all of the galaxy player 5.0 usa owners a nice jar of jelly beans.
So far gmillz is working on a kernel which will supposedly fix all the problems we had with ics rom with the current GB kernel.
supermaster34 will be technical support.

Thanks a lot but doing it from source is easier, because Nexus 7 JellyBean has some device specs that doesn't fit our Player. Compiling fron source or porting CM10 over is easier
