X10 became "zombie" after manual update - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi All,
I come from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1105745
I have followed instructions and installed the CWM-recovery-3.2.0.0-r3-x10mini-Edify in my X10 mini (non-pro) by manually copying system/bin/* and system/xbin/* files (overwriting) to my /system (remounted as rw).
After that, I turned off the device and then turned it on (simple powercycle). After turning on I was repeatedly pressing the "back" button (and not the volume down as done for other devices). The amazing result is that phone booted up apparently in a normal way, except that no hard button is working! I am talking about power button and the menu button.
I have realized that I don't have the star screwdriver at hand, and tomorrow I am leaving for a 1 week trip. When you talk about bad timing
I am of course waiting for battery to die...but meanwhile, can you help me with this (relatively) big problem for me?
Thanks!

If I attach the USB cable I can see it's still alive, and also alarms are ringing as usual! How weird that buttons don't work..has somebody ever experienced this? Can't find same cases online..

Help!

Hi all
I have a Lobster 700tv phone which I think is brilliant, but I'm looking to upgrade the software from mobile 5 to mobile 6. I have windows xp on my pc is this possible?
The reason I'm asking is that my phone is somehow stuck in headset mode (even without the headset plugged in) and I can't figure out on how to get it back to normal. Even when the phone rings, I get the ring tone, but have to plug in the headset to answer the call. (I've done a cold reboot and it's done no good). I took it to a phone repair shop yesterday and they've said that it's a software error.
Has anyone else had the same sort of problems?
Or if anyone can advise on a possible solution (apart from throwing it out of the window!) I'd be grateful.
Thanks
If its a software issue a hard reset should bring you back im not sure what a cold reboot is so you may have tried this, also never heard of your phone so i wouldnt know ho to hard reset. If hard reset doesnt work then you will probably have to flash a new rom, possibly to wm6 if you can find the rom.My advice is lots of searching and reading... good luck
wm6 won't come soon to my and your lobby's screen
it requires a LOT of time to be done, special tools, extracted ROM for the operation and so on, (btw the phone isn't very commercial, wide-spread and so on, which is demotivating programmers)
ANYWAY, now on the topic:
you can try the CLEAR STORAGE option
found in accessories, it does almost fully hard-reset the phone, but preserves DAB app (I read somewhere, that hard resetting did remove the app, but I'm not sure now...)
anyway, here's how to do the hard reset:
1. Press and hold soft1 and soft2 keys (i.e. menu keys).
2. Press and hold power button for around 1 to 1.5 seconds. Release power button. Keep holding both soft keys.
3. After a while, black screen should show instructions asking user to press '0' key to reset to factory default.
4. Press '0' within the timeout period (which is very brief).
If instructions don't appear on the screen, repeat steps 1 to 4.
it'll show the boot screen, and afterwards a black background with the typings, quickly press 0 to reset, sit and wait
as usual, backup all contacts, data, apps, stuff like that, and then do the job

Hi there Prodigyfied,
Greetings from cloudy and overcast England.
Thanks again for the info.
I've tried what you've suggested, and it's still the same. Do you or anyone else have any other ideas?
Thanks
Paula
Sorry I didn't see this thread sooner!
it is a common fault with HTC phones and is a hardware issue - here is one of the MANY threads on modaco

Thanks Confusious,
The suggestion in that other thread has done the trick.
You've made my day
Thank you.

[Solved] X10 mini freezes on clock screen

I have this phne for 2-3 weeks and it never run out of battery completely. Yesterday it did and when i plugged the charger it opened and it got stuck in the clock screen. No buttons are responding only the hard reset (power button and the middle one). The screen turns on and off every one minute. It is a mess...any help is appreciated!
Solved: Thank you guys for helping. I found that the solution was to download the Update Service from SE and follow EXACTLY the steps it mentions.
Steps:
1 Deactivate the phone for 30 secs. (in this case unplug the battery once it could not close normally)
2 plug the micro USB in the phone and then the USB to the PC
3 Before plugging the USB to the pc press the back button and hold it for as it takes. it takes a while. the the update service will start formating your software and it will be as new...notice that what the sd card contrains isn't deleted
realy ther is noone with the same problem? i start to worry. please could anyone say any opinion?
Hello,
try to start your phone in save mode and then deinstall your 3. party apps.
I think the failture comes from an app.
an app could also be the reason for a verly long boot time.
her some info's about the save mode: androinica.com/2010/08/06/how-to-activate-android%E2%80%99s-safe-mode-to-get-out-of-a-force-close-loop/
hope this can help you with your problem.
My suggestion to you would be to take it back to the place where you bought it and tell them to fix it... if it's only 2-3 weeks old they shouldn't argue.

[Q] again FG8 please help,last chance

Hi,
In another Forum I was recommended to ask for help here:
after successful flashing boot my new FG8 no longer the flash process went smoothly, booted, then did the another SD inserting card, I turned off,new SD card in, and since then I can press days and after the power button, nothing happens at all. Battery is charged.
The instructions I found in English ( china-iphone.ru) (cca page 70 onwards)the correct firmware for me was from March.
What can be done except throw out there? Is there any code in the buttons (or squeezing etc etc.) I would be grateful for any ideas ...
Actually the whole thing was due to GPS bug (which has twice the speed shown) which was also resolved, but I can test no more ..
I remembered that did not do factory reset. In google I found the manual from HTC Desiree, (First Volume Down button simultaneously then one-off button) Unfortunately for the Chinese scrap is only one times black and white strip down, but only so long until I hold down the Eischaltknopf.
If the device is left to save?
I look forward to each answer. The phone fg8 can be admired in Youtube.
Sorry for my English...
Thanks in advance
It means, NO HOPE , thx I understand.
I have the same issue :-( any updates? My phone has been working fine for months and suddenly stop responding to power button. (took battery put in ... no help)
please help!!!
Did you do a factory reset?

[Q] Unlocked Neo V, worked, now it wont go on

Not sure If this should be here or not. I've tried my best to search for anything similar.
I have a Sony Ericsson Neo V MT11I and I unlocked it using a program, with my USB Cable.
The unlock cost me £13 and it worked fine. I checked the phone, and It was making calls and working fine.
A few hours later, it was off, so I put in the charger and nothing. No screen or activity. The green light next to the power button comes on and If I connect it to my computer, the computer detects it, then doesn't. (I hear the new device done every minute or so). When it detects then detects its unconnected the green light flashes once.)
It was working fine after I unlocked it, but this seems to of happened hours after I unlocked it.
Thanks for any help!
Hm, sounds to me like your phone entered some sort of bootloop, it can't even go to that image which you see when you charge phone(turned off).
Maybe that's why it founds it, then it disappear, and then it founds it again, and so on.
Can you please try 2 things.
1)hold back key and connect cable to phone (of course, other side is in PC)
2)hold menu key(that's the right one, some people confuse it with home key ) and connect cable(of course, other side is in PC)
Report what happens then. To be more safe, can you please re-insert battery between 1 and 2 (and also before 1) )
Hi Buddy,
While pressing the Menu key, and connecting it, the light remains off, until I release the button. Now I've done this, there is no sound on the computer. Even If I connect it normally without pressing any key.
Thanks,
You didn't answered on my entire question.
Plus, how did you unlocked it? And by unlock, you mean SIM unlock(able to use any SIM card)?
I did that and until I let go of the menu key the light didn't come on, now it lights up upon plugin, but I hear no activity on my computer.
I used wotanserver . com/en/sony-ericsson to sim unlock it, and sorry If I was not clear!
Thanks again.
back key, back key, you didn't answer me on that part
anw, try flashing it with wotan.
Sorry for the late reply. I flashed it, and it's now working fine. I would like to thank you for your help, I'd buy you a pint If I could.

Phone clicking back button

Galaxy s6 keeps clicking back button by itself ): just clicks me out of anything

Click to collapse
First of all try to see any app you have downloaded which is suspicious because an unwanted app can trick with your device if downloaded from untrusted sources
If not then, try formatting the device once
If this also doesn't help then only look for flashing stock rom again
Hope this helps

My girlfried had the exact same issue with her S6, clicking the back button repeatedly by itself, sometimes several times a second.
Then it could work fine for anything from a few minutes to a day or two.
From what i was able to dig up at the time, it appears that there is a issue with the ribbon cable that connects the soft buttons (among other things shared through the same cable) to the motherboard, apperantly signal noise might be introduced which will make the phone think the button was pressed.
Since the phone was still under warranty we sent it back, and from what i could tell from the repair description after she got it back it appeared that they had replaced the circuitboard that holds the soft buttons and other stuff and its cable.
Her phone has worked fine for almost two years so far.
