Hello guys
Today i did an OTA update to ICS.
I Live in Denmark and phone company is Telenor.
The phone downloaded the update, installed it and would not start again.
Was able to install XXLPQ using Odin, and the phone was able to boot and load normally.
I Noticed a small icon that I cant remove, so if any one have any suggestions on how to remove it, let me know.
It's in Danish, but i am sure most of you have seen it (in english) if you did the update.
Whyyyyyyy more threads on this damn ROM? Did you do any searching at all?
Settings --> Applications --> All --> Software update --> Disable.

Hi guys,
I've the Atrix 4G 4.5.91. It is SIM unlocked and I'm using it in India. I frequently get the popup message asking me to update the firmware to 2.3.6, but I always cancel it as I'm planning to unlock the BL and flash custom ROMs.
Yesterday, I pressed the 'Update' button by mistake and the download got initiated, but as I was not connected to Wi-Fi at that moment, it left a notification 'Enable Wi-Fi to start download update'. This notification is not going away, even if I reboot the phone.
Now I'm not at all using Wi-Fi, fearing that the update will start. How do I get rid of this notification? Is Factory reset the only option?
Pls help. Thanks in advance.
didnt search the forum did you?

I did search. The page you have pointed out is for rooted users. I have not done anything with my mobile yet. It is brand new. It is unrooted and locked bootloader (as you can see from my signature).
And I did not ask about suppressing the updater popup. I already pressed 'Update' (by mistake) and there is a presistent notification on the notification bar asking me to enable Wi-Fi. I just want to get rid of the notification, as I fear that connecting to Wi-Fi would start the update, which I don't want to happen.
Hi!
Today ICS for TPH (unbranded) was released according to @SamKiesUpdates and sort after I began receiving a update message from Software Update service asking to update (When I bought the phone I in my naiveness turn the options on on Settings->About->Software Update).
Software update never asked me for nothing and every time I did a check for update it said none until today.
My question is: Is there a way to stop it from asking? I can postpone the update up until 7 days but the icon saying that it was postponed stays nagging
Also does anyone know the download folder for the service in case it has download the ROM update?

Pretty simple...Go to settings-->about phone-->Software Update-->Uncheck Auto update and Push message option...Probably reboot if required.
And that should do it.
Don't forget to hit the thanks button if it helped.
Thanks for the tip, it helped but wasn't enough...
I had to go also to Settings->Applications->Manage Application->All->Software Update and do a Clear Data
Then I rebooted just to be sure... and it stopped
Please set it again and dont clear data.
Hi all,
Hopefully one of you out there will be able to help me. I see that there is an update for s3 that helps fix the re-draw issues, adds a brightness toggle and such other things. However when I connect my phone to KIES it tells me I have the latest firmware and I cannot update. I have the latest version of KIES also and it still does not recognise this update?
As well as this within my 'About Device' area of my phone I know that most other devices have a 'Software Update' button situated at the top, yet mine does not have this either, so I cannot check for the update this way? As well as this I understand there is also a software update widget? Yet again my phone does not seem to have this?
None of the standard ways is allowing me to update my phone, I managed to get KIES to update my phone to a particular firmware only to find out that this new firmware was the same as one my mate got already on the phone?
I really want to get this new update so any advice would be appreciated. If it helps I am with orange and upgraded to this phone over the phone.
Thanks again
Ross
Anybody have any idea what the problem is?
Bumping this to the top of threads to see if anyone has an idea why?
Hi guys,
Just done the update and after reboot I got a message that popped up with two options and I accidently selected the one on the right but have no idea what it was.
Just wondered if anyone can remember what the notification and options was or if they haven't done the update yet could let me know when they do it?
thanks
It was in relation to the time settings I did the Polish 4.1.2 update on my Galaxy S3 and got the same notification/message (but in polish). After I translated it all it turned out to be was time settings. Nothing on importance Hope this helped!
I know the title sounds similar to others, but I have not found the same problem.
When I search for updates via the phone, it shows that there is a new update (400MB+). Not wanting to kill my data usage, I turned on Kies.
Kies does not show the update. It's not that it CAN'T update, it just does not show that there is any firmware update.
It just shows that the firmware of the phone is the most current.
I know the update is quite recent (with the past 2 days), but wouldn't it also be available through Kies if it is available through the phone?
You need to either wait or ask Samsung or your vendor .
