I was wondering if there is a way to flash new ROM without connecting my phone through USB to the computer and using Odin (because I'm on a business trip at the moment and I don't have USB cable with me.. I wanted to try out some things on my phone (I only have lap top with me so I would transfer the downloaded ROM over the Wi Fi to my phone) I would need a program or something to be on my phone which could install new ROM from my SD Card directly... I've tried ROM Manager but there's no support for my Galaxy S+ ... It is rooted and with 2.3.5 version of Android.... Hope someone can clear this out for me or help me if there's a way. I was looking for a solution on this forum but I couldn't find a direct answer for my phone... Thank you!
You can download Mobile Oden. Paid should do both kernels and rom's if I'm not correct and I know free only does kernel. But if you can get the kernel you want installed then just boot to recovery and install rom from there. This also avoids incrementing the flash counter
if you have clockworkmod on your phone then just use your phones internet browser and find the rom you want, download it and then you boot into cwm. flash and your done.
There is a Modded Clockworkmod for your SGS+ it's called FearMod, but the problem is, you need odin for one time!
This is the thread where all you need for your SGS+ is summarized http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409605
Use Wifi Explorer
The thing is that I cannot install CWM mode without usb cable...and I think I "ruined" my stock recovery mode with ROM manager... I can't get into a working recovery mode on my phone to install the .zip file either way.. I don't uderstand how can I use Wi Fi Explorer (which I have) for installing a new ROM ? .. I need a working usb connection for Odin... and I think that mobile Odin doesn't support SGS+ ...
Will ROM Toolbox work maybe ? Tested with S+ or not ?

1st Download these apps.
Mobile Odin Light
AndroZip File Manager (Or any other app to extract files)
2nd Use your Extractor App and open your Kernel.zip and extract zImage and put it somewhere this is what you are going to flash.
3rd Go to Mobile Odin (Will be prompted to install add-ons just cancel it)
4th Select the kernel which will be the zImage you extracted.
5th It will then install the kernel you have chosen and now you just gotta boot into recovery mode and install the Rom from there

I think there is no way without support by odin mobile or with out cwm...
you have to wait till your home again :/
Ok if that is the final answer and there is no other solution no problem.. I'll wait... If anybody else maybe knows something more please leave a reply...
It's really a pitty that SGS+ is not supported on so many apps...
I know but the Positive thing is every time you go to xda watching for your sgs+ there are more and more roms

our phone isnt supported with rom manager yet, there is clockworkmod for our phone though but you need to install it through odin
Download Odin 4.28 and the ClockworkMod file, and flash your phone to CWM that way, it works- thats how i got my phone running CM7.1.

No need for links. Clockworkmod Recovery is now officially available through ROM Manager.
Solved (for me)
I also have a Samsung GT I5500 (Galaxy 5, Europa)
So, as I see, Rom Manager free isn't available for Android 2.1 (that's the version I had).
Although, Clockwork recovery can be installed using Odin, but to start the phone in "recovery" mode it's needed to do it trough the console in the computer, using the developer tools (with adb) ...or, use it just after it's installed.
After installing that recovery image it's automatically started, for the first time.
But you can use it to install another newer and better ROM, that can be compatible with ROM Manager. I installed CyanogenMod 7.
First you have to "root" your phone, here is how I did it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19576527#post19576527
To install something using Odin use this post (about installing ClockworkMod Recovery and CyanogenMod 7), it's newbie-friendly:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416190
But I recommend using the files from this post (are the latest 7 January 2012):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149110&highlight=mad2sd
And, as in that last post says, be sure to install the "Baseband", without that I got a boot cycle:

Hi all,
I did a bad work with my galaxy tab. I've flashed it with a new ROM but this ROM is not working correctly, I can't see correctly my display probably due to a bad driver inside the build. My problem is that I've no more a working ROM on my galaxytab and I can't reflash it.
USB seems not working correctly, so device is powered on but I can't access to it from Windows.
Is there a way to to upload a file to internal storage in recovery mode or download mode?
Thanks
Stefano
Stefano,
Depends what recovery you have as recovery...stock recovery no you can't, clockwork recovery yes you can. From download you can use Odin.
What model Tab do you have? Wifi, 3G? What version firmware were you on before the problem and what do you want to restore to?
Ciao
Hi, yes I've Clockwork installed but how I can 'upload' a file using Odin? The standard guide shows that Odin3 is used only to upload a .tar.md5 file to root the phone....
Thanks

That's why i asked what sort of tab you have and what you want to flash your tab to..
There are odin files available to go back to 3.0.1, to go to Early Touchwiz, both for Wifi only tabs...if you are really stuck it is often beneficial to go all the way back to 3.0.1 then go in whatever direction you like.
Or, if the tab is sort of working even tho the display is corrupt you might be able to connect and use adb to push a rom to the sdcard and then flash from clockwork. More info Stefano, what have you got by way of tab, and where do you want to get to?
Download the samsung drivers on your computer . Then install android sdk so you can use the adb if you haven't already. Then you can adb to push a rom to your device and flash.
I'll try ASAP...I'll also add ROM and device details.
I've a Samsung Galaxy TAB 10.1 GT-P7500
Problem is with ROM: [ROM][CWM][EUR][3G] BroodComb G-P7500 XWKG9 [ALPHA]

hello
i rooted the phone and installed recovery , downloaded custom rom and placed it by mistake on the EXTERNAL SD instead of the internal , and i formatted the OS (without making a backup) , and then i found out that CWM doesn't support external SD on the GS2 .. so now i'm stuck without a OS..
i googled a lot and i found only 1 topic about the same problem , and the solution there was to flash stock using odin , so i looked for the stock rom that i had (Pelephone Israel) and i'm downloading it, and its taking like forever to be completed ..
my question (which i couldn't find an answer to anywhere) whats the difference between flashing a rom via CMW and Odin ? can i just flash it from Odin instead of waiting another hour or 2 till the download is done and then flash it , reroot and flash recovery then flash custom rom ?
another question, when flashing a custom rom vua CWM , does it change the kernel ? (while Odin doesn't ?)
i'm a little confused here and i would appreciate any help (by the way the GS2 is my fiend's and its the first time i try flashing one)
Flashing via odin: You can only use tar files, and it boosts your custom binary count.
Flashing via CWM: It uses zip files, which is the most popular format for most roms. And it doesn't boot your custom binary counter. It's also harder to mess up flashing.
Pretty sure that's right. Just use CWM.
Edit: CWM only changes the kernel if the kernel is within the rom's zip.

thanks for the fast reply
do you confirm that flashing stock via Odin will solve my problem ? any worries of a brick there doing that?
what happens if i flash (via Odin) a firmware that uses a different kirnel from the 1 installed?
thanks again
as long as u're following the instructions right i'm sure you'll be fine..
if you are flashing via odin, PDA file is the ROM which usually includes a kernel.

the thing is that there are no instructions .. someone told the OP to flash original firmware via Odin and thats all .. i couldn't find any information anywhere thats why i got confused and i'm asking here ..
what i'm downloading is the exact original firmware i had before .. i have CWM installed but apparently its useless in my case , and i can enter download mode ..
what i'm planning to do is flash the firmware i'm downloading via Odin (its either 1 PDA file or 3 different files , thats not the case here ..) , and all i need is a confirmation that i'm safe ..
thanks

You can safely update the official firmware using odin and you won't bork anything by that method. I hope you have enabled the USB debugging mode in your mobile or else odin might not recognize the phone.
I've been searching like a b******d for the official ROM but in .zip format so I can install with CWM. Reason being is that my phones USB/Charge port is f****d, so it doesn't let me flash via odin. I also have Mobile Odin Pro but that keeps f*****g crashing on the ROM I have installed just now, so I can't bloody change ROMs, it's extremely irritating.
Just wondering if you guys know of any because I can't seem to f*****g find one and I am seriously about to throw the b*******g phone off a wall.
You told you have installed just now a ROM from mobile odin, which is crashing, you must have selected pre-root option, and CWM injected??
I have not heard of any official CWM flashable ROM yet..
Why you *******tly required an officilal ROM, you could have selected Custom Rom?

Genuinely don't understand what you mean. I have previously installed a ROM the other day via CWM. I cannot find the .zip for the official ICS to install it via CWM. I cannot use the .tar.md5 files on mobile odin, because mobile odin keeps crashing on the ROM I have installed. I cannot use the USB on my phone either so that rules out any USB flashing with Odin.

Sorry I understand what you mean now....
Since your current ROM not allowing you to use Mobile ODIN, you have still option to flash a ROM from CWM which will allow Mob-ODIN to work flowlessly, chose any GB stable version closer to STOCK, like checkrom...then flahs Official from MO
Hello poeple. I have one two big problems and i dont know what to do, about 3 weeks i downloaded a 4.4 kitkat rom for my gs2 and it wasn't working fine i've got some bugs, now i want to install new update but i cant because of that cwm 6.0.44, its not booting any sd card or internal. 2nd problem that i have is my usb not working... my phone is charging but i cant use it with pc, it charges with ANY pc that i have but they cant identify device and this problem is not rom fault because it didnt worked long time ago too. any solutions? is there any way to install new cwm without odin or using pc?
P.S. sorry for my bad english i hope you will understand
Use Rom manager to flash rom of cwm not work correctly. (need custom recovery and root to use app)
Or flash a recovery with odin

oh, forgot to tell. Your pc is recognizing it as unknown device.
Open device manager and you will see your phone (must be connected).
Open it and update drivers.
If that fails, (re)install kies.
No......DON'T use ROM manager.....it has been known to cause problems on the S2....not worth the risk.....
And get that USB port replaced BEFORE you attempt to flash anything else......if a flash goes bad, you will NEED that connection between your phone and your PC / laptop in order to recover your phone with Odin.......
If you search for threads created by me, you will find a guide that tells you all you need to know about replacing this part........
This might be my S2, or it might be my W...but it's definitely CM
