Need help, SDE menu on Archos 101 G9 turbo
I have a Archos 101 G9 turbo (with ice cream installed)
I want to root it and therefore I need to install the SDE menu.
I have downloaded the firmware from the Archos website
(SDE firmware for ARCHOS Generation 8 devices: (ARCHOS 101, 70, 43, 32, 28 internet tablet)
But this is not working on my tablet. I am getting an error (1)
Is there another firmware for G9 turbo tablets? And where can I download it?
Or is it something else I do wrong?
I push the power button and vol. down at the same time.
Then I see the recovery menu.
Go to firmware update.
Connect my tablet to my (windows) computer and see an window popup.
Select drive (I think an empty RAM-Drive) and copy the firmware to this drive.
then (on tablet) select “OK” to disconnect (so the firmware can install itself)
But then I get the Error (failed 1)
name of the file that I install is: firmware_archos_android_gen8.aos
Please help me.

Did you totally format the device??? To where it says "Warning, you have to manually install firmware, blah blah blah?"
If not, go ahead and do that and then download the new firmware from the Archos website.
Then connect your Archos tablet to the computer and copy the firmware to it. Safely remove the device from the computer and press OK to install the firmware. It will need to be connected to your power source to finish the install.
Thank you guys
Thank you guys,i solved my problem
you did the ext3 format and realized you had to go back to fat32 for windows, huh?

1. You can't use Gen7/8 firmware on Gen9
2. Search forums- there are tutorials how to use custom firmware

As you can see I already done this. Gen8 and seen a view tutorials.
I have downloaded the firmware from the Archos website
(SDE firmware for ARCHOS Generation 8 devices: (ARCHOS 101, 70, 43, 32, 28 internet tablet)
but still got an error.
You can not install Gen8 firmware on Gen9 device, it is not compatible (recovery will prevent flashing)

[Help] HDD not found under Win7 with MTP

Hello,
I have a Archos 101G9 Turbo (1,5 Mhz) with a 250 GB HDD. Since yesterday, I have no access to this hard drive under Windows7. Instead of the Tablet icon a phone icon in the Explorer is displayed now me and the drive is empty. Both the record and the content is available under android. About ADB I can access the HDD.
I've tried the following:
Newly installed Windows Media Player and Windows media center
Storage carried out wipe of the SDE
Newly installed update Android 4.0.6 ([email protected]_04.06.2012)
All measures have brought no positive result. I have installed the custom ROM by surdu_petru. Unfortunately I can not associate the problem. I don't know whether the problem lies with the archos tablet or Windows7 Ultimate with SP1. Do you have a solution for this problem? Thank you for your help in advance.

Hello,
so, since no one had a solution up to now, have I installed the ungerootet on my ARCHOS firmware 4.0.7 (4.0.3) and newly established the tablet to the root. Now I have the internal memory available under Windows7 Ultimate again.

[Q] Archos 101g9 - no export partition in sde, what happened?

Long story short - I was about to install the rcommended CM10.2 over rooted stock 4.0.*+SDE, but failed.
1) I followed the instruction with SDE. There is no menu item "export partion". None at all.
Tried to uninstall SDE, install clean stock 4.0.4beta (highest official ROM for me - want to be able to downgrade to 3.*), installed SDE - no "export partition". All other like remove kernel, flash kernel are here (so SDE is Ok), but not partition one. Weird.
2) Tried to install ADB (I do use it with my huawei phone and know what it is) - no luck.
Under 4.0.4beta if I just connect tablet, I've got an unknown device with vid_0e79&pid_1528 (looks like MTP) - my windows 7 x64 says it's unknown device (!!). If I turn "USB debugging" on, then windows suddenly connect MTP drive, but no signs of ADB interface in the device manager.
Looked with USBDeview-64bit - there is no USB devices attached with pid 1509 either.
I cannot honestly say what I think about Archos without violating forum rules... But may be anybody can help me?
P.S. My child pulled micro usb connector with force while the device was charging.
It is working, although with some cables and not others - charging, file transfer in "usb debugging" mode.
Can it be so that something is not right with the usb chip inside the tablet?
Tried connecting to another PC (win7/x86) - adb works Ok. So the second problem is solved. I think it is caused by the combination of HP notebook "magic", 64-bit OS and USB2 + USB3 (yes, two) controllers...
But the question with SDE and "export partition remains". What is the matter with it?
May be "export partition" can be found on unofficial SDE only?
Tried both officical and unofficial (without a goat). Just the same.
So the only logical answer is that my tablet is from a batch with slightly different USB controller and SDE doesn't know it.
Archos is known for terrible changes in hardware for one model (think about haptic feedback genocide, elusive problems with wifi and gps on stock ROM for some percentage of users, and so on). So it makes sense.
Solved!
Ok, if anybody is interested. This symptom appears if one installs SDE on top of 3.x.x firmware.
After I have uninstalled SDE, installed stock 4.0.7 and then official SDE - bingo, "export partition" appeared.
So, installing SDE on top of 3.x.x is a bad idea.
Closed!
