I set up my IMAP accounts in the default email app, and I noticed that if I delete a message and then hit "refresh", the message comes right back. I don't see any setting anywhere to "delete off server". Is this happening to anyone else?
Only solution so far seems to be instead of hitting "delete", have to "move to folder" and select "INBOX.Trash" as the folder to move to.

Is there any way to completely sync my Inbox so it looks exactly like my inbox when I log in at my office? It seems like after some time (hours or days--not exactly sure) older messages that are still in my inbox in Outlook on my computer are no longer in my inbox in Outlook on my HTC Touch Pro.
Thanks!!
This is how it goes with an Exchange Server...
On your phone, go to ActiveSync-->Menu-->Options-->E-Mail (Under Microsoft Exchange)-->Settings
In Settings, tap the drop down menu for "Download the past:" and select "All"
This should allow for your entire Inbox to be accessible on your phone.
Alternatively, to save space on your phone and network data usage, you can select any of the increments of time.
Hope that helps
That did it!! Thanks for your help
no problem, glad I could help!
I setup my email account using IMAP. After getting my initial mail, the amount of messages I have in the Inbox stays the same, even after I delete them. Just for clarification, It says "4" (in the green circle) next to Inbox even though it's empty. It also says "4 new emails" on the screen-lock page. I tried deleting and recreating the account, but it stays the same.
I originally ran this account as POP3 (with "never delete from server" selected), but when my phone received a message, it would stop it from showing up on my computer's email client. It didn't just happen when I deleted the message on the phone.. the phone seemed to be taking it from the server.
I'd rather run the account as POP3, but I'd be happy with either if they worked properly. The only reason I have it setup in IMAP is because it allows me to receive the same message on my phone and computer.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Thanks,
-Adam
When I try to compose a text message to multiple contacts, I have to choose from a contacts list that seems to include everyone I've ever emailed in Gmail. I've gone in the People app and set "View" to only "My Contacts" but the other ones are still showing up in the messaging app.
Any help?
bump
anyone?
I believe there's another category that's like "ungrouped contacts" or something along those lines.
That's one of the things that's hard to get a handle on with gmail and android, it's so deeply integrated that it can be a pain to figure out sometimes.
What's showing up is "Other Contacts" when it should just be "My Contacts". It's driving me nuts.
Hi all,
I like K9 mail and the pinch to zoom function (very important for me).
I can't resolve a problem: when I delete a message in K9 it still appares in Gmail Inbox (if I check in web gmail or thunderbird on PC).
The message have the label "trash" and "inbox" so this is the reason why it appares as not deleted.
I changed the Account settings without result, here my setting:
- Fetching mail > When I delete a message > Delete From server
- Expunge deleted messages > Immediately
- Folder > I set [Gmail]/Trash
Can someone help me please?
The best thing to do is to write the developer and explain your issue. Let him look to see if this is a problem with his program or if you need to adjust a setting.
There is another thread about duplicate emails, but my issue was only with the Unified Inbox. What was happening is that my Exchange account Inbox only shows one email being downloaded and displayed in the Inbox, but two of every email would list in the Unified Inbox. On K9 Mail's site, Issue 3486 described my issue exactly. Someone there posted a solution, and I responded on that site with a detailed way of getting around the issue. I thought I would repost here as several fellow Android users here may come across this issue.
The main issue is that Exchange accounts may list two Inbox folders that are synced, and therefore two of every email show up in the Unified Inbox. Unchecking the "Unify" option for the second inbox gets around two emails displaying.
To do this, first open K9 to the account selection screen.
- Select the account that shows the duplicate (most likely your Exchange account).
- Bring up the menu using the Menu button on your Android device, and select "Folder List"
- If two Inbox items are listed, select and hold the second "Inbox". Then select "Folder Settings".
- Uncheck the last item in the Folder Settings ("Unify").
->If two Inbox items are NOT listed, there may be a different folder with two items listed or your problem is different (sorry!).
I also turned off syncing of the second Inbox folder so that I also am not downloading any items to it. I hope this helps.
