Go into the camera app and hit the menu button. Swipe to the second page of settings and there is a shutter sound option where you can disable it.

What rom version you on? Is your camera set to auto scene recognition? If so what seven options do you have for the camera menu?

I think in some countries you arent allowed to disable the shutter sound, I remember reading this somewhere..
I am able to disable the shutter sound on mine, so he should have the option as well.

Can't you see where it says shutter sound? Press it and select no sound, works for me.

He's not the one having trouble finding it
This option is not available in some countries. It is considered illegal.
From what provider did you get your phone from?
I have T-mobile NL, and I am able to disable the shutter sound with no problems, so it's not a problem with legality, unless you bought it outside of the NL.
Any known solutions for this problem? I have T-Mobile NL but I don't have the shutter off button. I've tried using Quick Settings or other camera apps but they all make the shutter sound.

Some people in this thread have suggested its a law thing, some countries down allow it which I remember reading somewhere too a while ago.
If you flash a ROM from a different region which does allow to disable the sound (find central europe generic works fine for me) that should give you the option
My Xperia S from Canada allows me to silence the shutter through the camera app as well stays silent when the phone is in vibrate.
I recall from my K790 days legal issues in certain countries with the shutter sound, Japan if I am not mistaken.
Thanks

I use Vignette since a while and am very happy with this program.
Now i want to assign Vignette to my camera button so it will open when I press it.
I searched everywhere on my phone but couldn't find it. It sounds to me it should be extremely easy but for some reason I can't figure it out.
Does anyone know how to assign an app to your camera button??
Cheers,
Arnold
Open Settings, Applications, Manage Applications, (wait for it to load), Camera.
Click "Clear Defaults". The next time you press the camera button you'll be prompted as to what application you want to use with it.
The same feature works for other apps, for example Messaging, you can choose another app to handle SMS.
Thank you very much for replying, but I can't clear defaults as there aren't any selected according to the system. Strange thing is however, after I been in this camera settings, my camera button does nothing at all anymore when I push it...
I have the feeling I move further away from what I wanted than coming closer...

You have to press it hard for 2 seconds.. try it... this button is kind of hard to press...
i pressed it so hard for about ten seconds, it almost came out on the other side but the button has now no function at all
Didn't work
Didn't work for me either. Followed the instructions and it just took slightly longer when i mashed the camera button.
Try uninstalling the vignette app rr install and press camera button it should ask which one you would like to set by default

Wierd bug here. My phone is set to always vibrate and it does so for incoming calls however for sms I get the sound but no vibration. I've noticed there is no vibrate option in the messaging settings either :| Anyone got any ideas on fixing this?

Are you using the stock messaging app? What rom and phone are you using?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Yes, stock messaging app on SGS2 (as the forum states). I'm on stock KE2 and rooted via chainfire's rooting method then reflashed stock kernel.
Have you turned on always vibrate from within the messaging app? Go to all threads in the app, press menu, then settings, scroll down to notification settings, then press the option that says "Vibration" and make sure the option for always vibrate is selected.

I would but the setting isn't even there which is what surprised me most!
EDIT: I found an app to let me enable that vibration and it works now but it should be there as an option by default!!! WTF SAMSUNG!

Hey guys, same problem here.
darkalchemist, which app allows to enable vibration? thanks in advance.
upd: found "vibrate tools" app
Its called MineVibrationSetting and you just need to download it from the market and tick the box inside to enable.

On my old Captivate I had a silence option when you pull down the notification bar. Is there any way to do that in default Touchwiz for GS2? Currently I have to go to the sound settings to set vibrate, which is very annoying. I wish more people would follow Apple when it comes to having a dedicated hardware silence switch!
There should be a Silent Mode option if you hold down the power button.
And also if you drop down the notification bar and click on the sound icon it will go to either Silent/Vibrate mode as per your setting in Sound setting. You can just open keypad and hold '#' too to make it Silent/Vibrate. Also you can search Market, there should be a simple widget which will allow a single touch toggle, I had one once, forgot the name.
Why not ask in a forum made specifically for your phone???

On my original inc you could take pics by long pressing on the area you wanted on focus...I can't seem to do that on the 4g.long pressing will set the focus, but then you must press the shutter button to take a pic.
Any way to change that?
Ps I disabled auto focus because it would just re focus on everything on the screen...
I'm wondering the same thing...

I really miss that feature.

I don't believe there is a way to do that currently, at least not without some mods that would require root.
Stock Verizon Note 2 on latest update. I've noticed my phone will not turn its screen off while I am making phone calls with my ears pressed against the phone. Which is quite annoying as my cheeks will inadvertently press buttons while I am on the phone. When I try downloading a proximity sensory check tool on the play store, the sensor appears to work fine.
Anyone else experiencing issues with the proximity sensor while making calls?
Have you looked in phone settings and made sure auto screen off is turned on?

That would be perfect, by chance, do you know where that option is located? When I go to Settings --> Display I do not see that option, I only see smart rotation and smart stay options.
Open the phone app pull up your menu and then select call settings

Many Thanks! I have no clue how that option was unchecked.
