if it's a defect that isn't a direct result of damage or negligence, try getting a warranty replacement before you shell out the cash.

Yup. Verizon is pretty good about replacing devices that fail in any way as long as it isn't physically/neglectfully damaged.

I would definitely try it, worst comes to worst they tell you to go through asurion, but if it is a defect im sure they'll replace it...

I had the same issue with both the power button and the volume with my TB and I called 611 and told them.
I have TEC and they over night a replacement. I unrooted when I got the replacement and sent my broken one back. Just call them. They will replace it.
if that is your issue, call Verizon... I work for Asurion and they will charge you $89! If you call Verizon Tech Support they should be able to overnight you a replacement free of cost!
Yeah I called 611 and told them. The guy said he would send a replacement, except when I return mine there can't be any damage or I will have to pay 100..I told him I had a little chip on the bottom lip of the phone and he said i would most likely be charged.... that is ridiculous. Because I dropped this phone when I first got it I have to pay 100 because of a hardware malfunction...smh

I've never been charged and I've had find and scratches when getting a warranty replacement.

Just saw the news on Skyrocket and will be returning my GS2 before the 30 days. I can always buy it again if Skyrocket isn't all that.
I'm rooted and running UnNamed ROM so how can I go back to stock?
Thanks for the help. I'm sure theres a couple other people on the same boat

Go to the development forum and look under the stickies. It's one of the first posts on kernals, etc. I would recommend you find this information out before you root your device.

LOL, that does not include root. IF they choose to look and find it rooted, your warranty is void. That also means so is the return policy.

OK, so you trust the guy at your AT&T store. However, read the agreement you have with the company. Then, when the phone goes to the service center, and they determine that you voided the warranty, you will receive a charge on your bill for the full retail value of the phone. This is my understanding of the risk.
Return to stock
Another post is here for a description using Odin, and how to check/change your firmware flash count. (You need a jig to reset this; if you don't want to build one they were available on amazon prime as of last week. I tend to trust Amazon to fulfill purchases from unknown sellers.)
I found the above guide to be better personally as it spelled things out better and offered more than one method -- as well on showing how to view the flash counter if you run into someone really tech-savvy at AT&T.

I don't know how this rumor started but it's completely false. Once they've accepted the return, anything they determine after the fact is on them. Ethical or not is besides the point.

I was actually thinking of wireless warranty return, and I see that the OP is returning the device to cancel the contract, but in AT&T Returns Policy & Early Termination Fee you will find the following:
Equipment may not be refunded and the equipment may not be returned to you if one of the following applies:
•Equipment was returned more than 30 days from the purchase or ship date.
•Equipment was determined to be ineligible (e.g., opened software, liquid or physical damage, not in substantially the same condition as when received by you).
Emphasis added.
question
If it's within 30 days, can I return my phone to store that has been rooted and unlocked but still on stock ROM?
A tually that's not true. If AT&T knowingly accepts receipt of a rooted phone, they can not charge you if Samsung rejects the device. It's like saying that Best Buy can recharge your credit card for a return they already refunded to you.

It's spelt warranty.
And I believe the manufacturer's warranty is one year. If it were for the life of the contract, everyone would be claiming the warranty after 2 years and get a brand-spanking new phone after 2 years, contract-free.
If I'm wrong i'll be flamed.

The phone was released last fall....
It depends on whether you bought a "new" device or a "refurb." They had that sale for a while for $10 refurbs, etc. If you bought as new you get one year. If you bought as refurb you get 90 days. When replaced you always get a refurb, with at least 90 days. So if you replaced new device the first month of having it you get until the one year mark. If you get another at the 11 month mark you get 90 days from the replacement, so it can extend past the year.

I agree that there is a lot of spoonfeeding going on which iirc is against xda rules. Technically this forum is for developers hence the name but they let us post and that posting gives us the responsibility of searching for questions first and to not just make our phone cool but learn how to make our phone cool.

When searching, try to be more descriptive in your terms.
your search is like searching for a pair of jeans at a levi's store.

I bought this used. I can only charge the phone using data cables. I tried a micro USB home charger I've used for 6 various android phones, a HTC amaze home charger, and my Bluetooth wall charger and all do not register; only the data cables. When the data cables do work I have to wiggle or position them a certain way to work.

It's your charging port mate, it's a known issue and I would think it is replaceable under warranty, assuming you purchased the warranty.

The replacement part can be found on say, eBay for example, and at very fair prices.

Stickers on screw's, I'm assuming you mean for tamper detection by Samsung (I'm not sure) Warranty is for wimps! Lol. All the fun stuff happens upon rooting your device, which sadly voids Samsung's warranty. Silly as it. My stand is, if you want to tinker and mod such an expensive device, best be prepared for a loss if you mess it up.
But since XDA-Dev..forums ROCK, & IMHO the best destination on the web, most everything you want to know is all here for your enjoyment. Follow the guides and instructions and any customizations are pretty painless and more than safe. Be in the right device section. Read, re-read, heck, take notes, whatever you gotta do to understand what you are about to do before doing it. The rewards when you succeed are very tasty.

Our Note's are all still under warranty since they're not a year old.
Let's stop pretending that all of you are some saints. I have asked for a app which was in the play store, and you all assume that it was pulled down do to copyright infringement . Thanks for your help, the app is back in google play store.

The one funny thing I find about XDA is that they don't want you to talk about warez or downloading copyright protected material.. (Which i understand).
but hacking a ROM so you can get free WiFi tethering (when the mobile company wants you to pay for it). Or having threads where everyone talks about resetting your flash counter or sending your phone that you bricked yourself in get a replacement and tell them that it was a faulty phone (when you clearly voided the warranty ). Is quite alright..
Each of those are in all honesty .. Stealing and being deceptive .
But some are acceptable and some aren't.
Oh well those are the rules so follow them because regardless of anything. XDA is still an awesome website

All of the above are nice opinions, no one really is here for those though...
Perhaps a re-read of the XDA posting rules would benefit those compelled to troll around and launch darts about off topic junk, and especially questioning the rules that you all agreed to when you accepted membership.
Or perhaps, read this...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16682226&postcount=2441
