I'm a newbie on SGSII and need your help.
I took a GT-I9100M and I don't know if I can put some regular GT-I9100 rom on it. Can be gingerbread or ics version, I don't want some carrier version anymore.
Is it possible without issues?
Thank you.
Patrick
Hi,
I'm using the one from Bell as well, you just need to root it then you can flash any ROMS you want. I'm under CM9, right now.
Using a GT-I9100M as well, lots of options.
Some good reading in this thread here, should get you started in the right direction.
sgs2 bell/virgin canadian thread q&a (root/unlock/firmware) modems/mods
xaznxplaya is right. I'm using Bell i9100 and running CM9. Good luck!
Thank you for helping.
I'm reading that huge topic about canadian SGS2.
Some people around told me that I can't flash a rom designed for I9100 on any other variations like I9100m. Is that correct or it's some kind of hoax?
My I9100m is still on buggy 2.3.3. I'm thinking updating to 2.3.6 or ics. ICS have 100% functionality or there are some resources like camera, gps and others that don't work well?

I currently have a i-9000, the 3 button version in my hand.
I'm trying to use this for T-mobile.
Somehow, I was lucky to get 3 button PDA file for JFD.
I have been using it ever since for my t-mobile account,
however...
I'm in big urge to try the ROM.
I already have rooted and done several things with my brother's
vibrant version of Galaxy S, as there is many ROM's out there for it.
However, obviously, it is impossible to find ROM for I-9000 that is
designated for T-mobile U.S. version.
Is there anyway I can solve this problem..
I know that.. if I tried something like..
rooted i-9000 with any I-9000 rom on this forum won't work,
nor can I flash the modem file only after flashing ROM on the device.
What is possible solution?
My ultimate goal is to Froyo this i-9000 and use it as T-mobile USA.

If you have an I9000, then go to there section if you have a question about it.
I posted in the section as well.
Since its, somewhat T-mo related, as well as Galaxy S model,
I think its okay for me to ask a question in here, too.
Can you use Web2Go with the i9000?

Not really. If I had a question about the Optimus S, I wouldn't ask it on the Optimus T boards.
I have a few questions sorry if its a repost but id rather make sure I get a good answer to those questions then any other variant of them.
I got a galaxy s2 a week ago and I feel like the battery life is really bad and the phone heats alot sometimes.... (BTW this is my first smartphone EVER) I was wondering which one of all these custom ROMs out there is the best for the galaxy s2? Which one will give me the smoothest experience with a good battery life and fix that heating problem?
Also, I have the Canadian bell's version so MUGKG2... When I look at ROMs all I see is XXKH3 or XXKE7, etc... Basically how and what version do I have to use/install to get a custom ROM? (P.S I know how Odin works and I know how to root since my phone is already rooted)
And what is the latest Android version possible to get on the galaxy s2? I heard something about 4.0 but I think the latest version possible to install is the 2.3.4 am I right? Also, every ROM is 2.3.4 right? Or do I have to flash a 2.3.4 (or 4.0 depending on the latest version) kernel on the phone?
Thanks for your time and have a good day!!!!!!!

Hi All,
First off I apologize for my layman terms and my ignorance. I am a brand new Samsung Galaxy SII user. I have a plan with AT&T and mine is stock- My girlfriend is who has the problem, therefor I am asking for her.
She unlocked her Samsung Galaxy SII herself and is on an in-state cell provider. She has rooted her phone and encountered some problems... Calls not being heard, bottom touch buttons not working, etc. So currently we are working on getting it back to the stock i777 (it's on a 9100 and upgraded to 2.3.5) in hopes of returning it.
I downloaded Odin onto my computer in an attempt to help her. I downloaded the rooted system package because she wanted to keep her root, and I downloaded the Modem thingy to help with the calls not working. I thought I could just extract these and put them into Odin, but it's not doing anything :/ It recognizes them but starts to load up and then stays where it's at, and everything is the same.
I'm frustrated because Im a complete noob to all of this. I am used to iPhones and iPhone terms, and I am familiar with jailbreaking them. But things like Kernel, pit, modem, etc are all foreign words to me, so I am having trouble picking the right words to search for in the box.
Is there anyone that can lend a complete moron some help? I dont even know where to start. I'd love to get this fixed for my girl.
Flashing to i9100 ROMs are to the blame for all her issues. International versions are not compatible firmware and hardware wise with AT&T version. You will get button issue and call issues.
The problem you have is probably due to a newer boot loader being updated to the phone and it is refusing anything other than the i9100 ROMs.

Bootloaders don't do anything like that.
My suspicion is that it's some sort of driver problem. Beyond that, I don't know - I've never flashed from Windows before.
She shouldn't need to return her phone. Running an I9100 ROM and modem is known to cause ALL of the issues she's having.
Does her device have working Clockworkmod Recovery? If so, try flashing Cognition X2 from the development forums here. Make sure it's X2, not S2 - S2 is for the I9100. Cognition X2 is intended for our phone.
Thank you both for your replies so far! I am going to try the Cognition X2 and see how that works.
I had the same problem.
Use this as a guide fixed it:
Recovering an ATT Galaxy S2 after flashing GT-I9100 Firmware in the development section.
We got it fixed! Buttons work and so do the calls! Back on i777 too! Thanks!
Hey everybody I just bought my Galaxy tab 10.1 wifi only a couple of weeks ago and decided to try a new ROM. I have a Samsung Captivate (AT&T) which I actually found a 2.3.4 ROM for, which I love (even though it was never released in the U.S. / leaked I think). Anyway, I'm trying to find the stock OEM 3.1 ROM to put back on my Galaxy tab (the U.S. one) but I can't find it ANYWHERE. I just don't understand how it's not out there, as easily as I found it for my Captivate. If I'm wrong, please let me know. If you have a download link, please send it or any advice would be appreciated. Not sure if email is allowed to be posted on here but it's [email protected] Oh yea, found the OEM ROMS for the Asian and European tabs just not the U.S. one. Thanks everybody.
Appreciate,
Bri
Check out the Task and Phantom "Extreme Stock Experience" in the developers section. It's stock Honeycomb, only optimized.

Re:
Thanks yo I appreciate it. I will have to check it out.

Check out teamovercome website for KME restock. Its exactly what you want if you need to flash stock. KME is the last OTA update for the US wifi only tab. If you had your tab prior to KME, the last update of stock non-touchwiz is KF4. Tasks and Phantom extreme stock is KF3, so if you want KF4 you need to flash the original KF3 CWM backup from pershoot and do OTA to KF4.

Hi All
I have a Galaxy S2 jailed to portuguese TMN carrier, and it will be easier to see the pope than to expect an official ICS update from them. Can someone indicate a link to a tutorial about how to root & flash ICS rom on S2?
Thank you all for your help.
PS.: I have a Galaxy S and I never thought I would have ICS on it, before the new S2.

If you like pure stock ROM, there's a new ICS called NEAT ROM, by Sale. I'm still on GB, but I am preparing myself to flash Neat ROM, since I like stock .
Whats best rom posts are banned on XDA for the simple reason their is no best and we dont want repetitions of the same post everyday .
