[Q] Sound Quality... da hell? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys!! how are we all?
so, i have been using my galaxy s 2 for a long time now, and i still love him, but i have one issue.
I was meeting up with a mate for tea tonight, and i dropped him a call. I realized that he was also on the galaxy s2, and i noticed that the call quality was shocking! All i am wondering is if it is my reciever or actually the call quality?
If you know i'll love you forever <3
Thanks guys
Tangent5

Did you just notice it now or has it always been like that?
Sent from my GT-I9100T

well i only noticed it coz my friend also has s2.

One bad call is one bad call and not evidence .

No. It was probably due to bad reception or something, if it persists though, flash a new modem.

Ok THANKS! any threads you can point me to show me how to do it?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA

No there is no problem with call quality.

You want modems ? If you have an I9100, here's a bunch of modems you can try for starters (CWM flashable). Do a Google search & append XDA to your search terms & I'm sure you'll find threads which link to others.
If you have an I9100T, they tend to work best with modems specifically for the I9100T (I know this thru experience because I have a I9100T), do Google search for 'Samsung Galaxy S2 XDA I9100T modems' or similar (use your imagination a bit with the search terms). This should yield you plenty of threads, many of which will have links to modems (some posts may even have modems people have uploaded as well).
In saying that, if you've tried every I9100T modem you can get your hands on and nothing works, you might as well try the I9100 modems (hopefully you won't get to that stage).
Also have a look thru the AU SGS2 thread, plenty of great posts about modems over the past 5 mths I've been reading the thread.
You do need to also understand one call could very easily be a network related issue, so I probably wouldn't go flashing other modems unless you're consistently having call quality/signal strength or data speed issues that you can't pin on the network (they happen in different locations where you know you have good coverage).

If I could double thanks I would

[Q] Sprint Epic 4G Touch (aka samsung gs2)

Hello all, now that Sprint has confirmed the release date for their version of this awesome device, I'm wondering if there'll be a separate forum for it, or will this be it?
Any clue? I tried searching for the device on xda site, but it isn't listed yet.
Because it's not even out yet, i would bet there's enough differences with the hardware that international sgs2 roms won't work as it's, and modems defiantly won't

Exactly. That's why I'm thinking a new forum section may get added specifically for it and (maybe) other US variants.

Didn't know some roms had it built in. You could always just use one from the market. There are a few options (Tango, GTalk video works if you enable it, ooVoo, yahoo messenger has a plug in, and I'm sure there are others).

I've never been able to get it to work. You're better off using tango, or Skype probably.

Sounds like your front facing camera is blurry? Try it in regular camera app...if it is still blurry, you probably have a hardware issue. Condensation inside camera lens? Scratches or blurring from a screen protector?

In addition, his poor english leads me to believe he's probably an I9100 user, not an I777 user.
There are VERY few I777 users who are not native english speakers, since to own an I777 you need to have either:
1) Purchased from AT&T
2) Purchased from a native English speaker on eBay

[Q] Gt-i9100t

Can someone please tell me what the difference is between gt-i9100 and the gt-i9100t?
Would a custom gt-i9100 rom still provide full gt-i9100t features?
Thank you
I9100t is optimized for 850mhz network you can flash any rom but you may have to flash your modem back on it afterwards but dont flash a i9100g rom on it.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Different SAR values , which means different radio output, which as 7tOny4 said means works better with 850mhz network.
I9100t's tend to get better connectivity/data speeds with modems specifically for the I9100 T (but not always), dependent on location & network.
Yes I9100 roms provide 'full features', as there are no I9100T specific roms given the slight difference as per the above. If you find you're getting good connectivity/data speeds with the modem you're using now across all locations you use the phone/all times of the day (using it at one location at one time of day is nowhere near a proper test), no need to change the modem even if it is an I9100 modem.
If you do ever have problems with connectivity or data, you need to keep trying modems till you find one that works. A Google search with XDA appended to your search terms will yield you plenty of posts on here that link to both I9100T/I9100 modems.
THE DIFFERENCE IS ALMOST NOTHING, EXCEPT THAT THE I9100T WAS MADE FOR SPECIAL COMPANIES, LIKE VODAFONE, IF YOU WANT TO FLASH IT YOU CAN USE ANY I9100 ROM EVEN STOCK I9100 ROM, THEN WHEN YOU TURN IT ON IT WILL READ I9100 ON THE BOOT LOGO, SO THERE WONT BE ANY DIFFERENCES AT ALL, BUT YOU MUST DO A FULL WIPE, AND BACK UP YOUR EFS FOLDER BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING, HERES THE GUIDE, I MADE IT MYSELF, PLEASE AS I HELPED YOU, HELP ME AND PRESS THE THANK BUTTON
He didn't ask about flashing, so go flog your 'guide' (i use the term loosely) somewhere else.
P.S - stop using all caps. Makes you look like an idiot.
Cool, thanks guys. I was thinking that would be all it was. Was asking cos I got a vodafone sum but bought a Telecom SGS2 as the gt-i9100t was $100 cheaper than the gt-i9100. Don't like the Telecom splash / boot screen

I want to flash Indian firmware GT-I9100 over my GT-I9100T. is it possible to flash via odin?? will the phone work?
Yes.
Edit - Do not make multiple posts in different threads about the exact same issue/word for word (I've asked mods to delete your post in the AU thread).

Do i need to flash anything else other than stock rom?
No not really so far as I know search on Google Odin stock flash tutorial.
If you don't trust it flashing with Odin then you can extract the firmware and make an update zip with dsxida kitchen and flash it with recovery.

[Q] Best modem for India ??

Hi everybody...
Can somebody tell me which is the best modem for India in terms of battery usage??
I have already many modems like lph lps lp9 etc etc... but no use.....
I use XXLPS.. That's great.. If you want really good coverage try nelp3.. But that's not to battery efficient..
I tried that.. Bt it was also very hungry.. 40% battery drop overnight with no wakelocks or othr usage

I know this probably doesn't help much but try a few different ones and see how your signal changes. Maybe use each one for a day and determine battery drain, network and cellular signal. It varies depending on carrier, location, etc. so you need to try them out and cannot rely on someone else's best option.

I'm glad you posted in a thread instead of starting one, but with modems you need to try multiple ones to get the correct one. My modem may have better battery life and signal, but worse GPS, or vice versa. Just try different ones, no one can suggest one for you.

Umniah network - amman jordan

Hello, i have just moved to amman, jordan and i bought an umniah network simcard but i have a strange problem. It keeps drops the signal all the time. The same sim on other phones works perfectly and other samsung phones like the note 2 or grant work as they should. I was thinking that the problem might be the modem. Im on rootbox 4.1. I haven't tried a sammy rom yet cause i dont have a good internet connection yet. Anyone knows a good modem version to try? Thanks in advance..
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
No one will be able to pinpoint a 'good' modem for you. Each person will need a different modem depending on their carrier and region. For example, I'm using XXMS2, while my brother, with the same phone but different carrier, is on DVLS3. I have a horrible signal with his modem, as he does with mine.
What you'll have to do is flash a few and test which works for you. They're not big files so you'll be fine to download a few without a good connection. Don't flash ril+modem, you want modem only.

Try the modems bundled with stock roms released by the carrier in question then the stock roms released by other carriers in that country first. That should help you narrow it down/save you some time.
