Umm cm7 with no root? -resolved... no SBF... - Motorola Droid X2

I have superiser but it has apparently malfunctioned... I cannot update binary... I have tried supersu but I think it needs superuser to kickstart it initially... so I am having trouble getting into recovery because I believe a dalvik wipe will fix... anyone know how to wipe dalvik without recovery, or root apps?

Is that even possible? I feel this wont do much good, but have you tried uninstalling superuser from the market, then re-installing?

How long have you been on cm7? Is this a fresh download or did this just happen out if the blue? I know you can not update binary but will any rooted apps open?

Good download. Just did a factory reset though and did not wipe dalvik..
Sent from my MB870 using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk

The only root app I've tried is the cm7 recovery which force closes....
I don't believe you can wipe dalvik from stock recovery can you?
Sent from my MB870 using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk

Is this a fresh install or have you been on cm7 for a while? Are you using the patched bsr for cm7 plugged into wall charger? Have you tried root checker app and see what it says its free.

Um not a fresh install. Have checked root checker... it says looking for root but never finishes... and I am well aware of the conditions for recovery mode. It don't work..
Sent from my MB870 using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk

Sorry if I ask questions you already know it just helps with troubleshooting. One last thing I would try is turning phone off and plug into wall see if bsr comes up if not I would sbf and start fresh but that's just me. Hopefully someone can help you out.

No bsr. Feelings hurt... well I knew I'd need to learn to SBF. If my assumptions are correct I cannot simply update the binary via zip with stock recovery correct? I can now vaguely recall something on the subject now that I have failed several times in flashing the superuser binary...
Sent from my MB870 using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk

Yes you must update the su binary before you even open the market and letting su update the app. Then I would recommend also using supersu. This will help with the root apps freezing when first open. Cm7 can be tricky you have to follow instructions to a T. I went back to CM7 last night. No issues with being rooted except zergeush for the first time gave me problems. Ended up going back and rooting with Pete's 1 click. But once you get it going it will be worth the hassle I also sbf last night to 2.3.4 but when zergrush would not work I even sbf to 2.3.3 then rooted and used voodoo root keeper to really root when I got on 2.3.4 not sure what happen I used the same zergeush on my same computer more than 10 times no issues. Last night was a first.

You have to do the big 3 wipe. Re-flash cm7,g apps, then teather. IN THAT ORDER. reboot, after setup of account DO NOT UPDATE APPS. First open SU and update binary. After you update binary manually you can go ahead and open market and update your apps. Hope this works for you

Remember the patched bsr for cm7 is not a flashable zip you install it like a app. Sounds like you need to sbf back and root with Pete's 1 click if zergrush is not working for you. Then start all over.

Try updating busybox, I had a similar issue on my Prime and after I uninstalled then reinstalled and updated Busybox it fixed the issue.
Like Travis said, SBF and start from a clean slate is always the best alternative.

[Q] Lost Root after flashing Bamf-Sense3-rc3

After flashing the 2nd to latest Bamf RC I seem to have lost root priveliges. Anything that requires root will not work (screenshots, root checker fails the check, Titanium backup).
When I flashed, I wiped data and cache 3 seperate times, as well as dalvik and battery. I.flashed the ROM, followed by the 6-bar signal mod; all through Recovery, not RomManager. I used Titanium after flashing only for user apps/data.
I tried the Titanium superuser restore method (Problems > Upgrade Superuser) which also fails. I tried manually updating Superuser through market; fails. I tried downloading the latest SU and flashing through Recovery; fails, says its bad and I've tried downloading a couple times from different threads/links.
I've been running MR2 radio since it came out. When I restart into Bootlogger, this is what I get:
Mecha XD Eng S-Off
Hboot - 1.04.2000 (PG05100000)
Radio - 1.39.00.0528w
eMMC-boot - Feb 23, 2011, 20:36:02
Any idea what I can do or do I need to post more info? I lack computer access for who knows how long, so if I can fix it from my mini-computer here I'd love ya'll long time!
Problem Solved: It was just a matter of a bad flash. After downloading a fresh copy of the ROM, I wiped everything and reflashed. Root was restored without further issues.
Try installing and running busybox from the market. The few times I lost root this did the trick.

Just tried. Downloaded, granted SU, and it failed to install. Said it couldn't gain root (go figure).
Thanks, though!
Next!?
Well the rom is already prerooted so you could just install it over the current rom without wiping. If rom manager won't wow you to do it, boot straight into recovery.

Delete /system/app/Superuser.apk and /system/xbin/su
Then manually flash the superuser zip from recovery.
You said flashing Superuser failed and said it was bad? Sounds like the DL is corrupt then. DL 2.3.6.3efgh again and flash that.

Can't delete anything in system folder without root access. Or at least ES File Manager won't allow it.

[Q] Lost root after flashing alien rom

I flashed the alien rom last night and after I did that I wanted to flash the new theme so I went to the recovery mode but it wouldn't go so I went to check superuser and it said you do not have root. So my question is what do I have to do to get root back so I can flash the theme?
I don't know If it's the same for the atrix, but when I lose root on my inspire , I go into rom manager and flash superuser. Go to download rom and its in the extras tab

Works perfect now that I re-rooted and restored the apps/data with Titanium Backup.

I rooted my device and unlocked it and then used tenfar's recovery to boot into recovery and flash alien like its suppose to. Then I get to the home screen and I lost root (no surprise 2nd time) should I reroot and then install the theme. Because it looks like I have the rom on my phone.
Please help me!

Question about ROM's

I tried to google search this but found nothing. My phone is ROM'ed atm but their hasent been a update for it in a few months. So i want to put a more updated ROM and also because every 12 hours my phone ask me to upgrade to gingerbread. Now the question is in order to add a new ROM can i just install it over the old ROM or do i need to uninstall it. If i need to uninstall it how do i do so? just wipe the phone? Also sorry if this is in the wrong spot cant ask this question in the developer part.
Sbf to 2.3.3 if you want to get anothr rom. Dont ota for an update

Oh sweet thanks ill try this out when i get out of class tonight.
ok so i installed rsd lite and got my phone to stock gingerbread. I rooted with 'MotorolaOneClickRoot_psouza4 and that was ok. I installed bootstrap and when i click install recovery it says Install Failure /data/data/com.tenfar,a4.recovery/files/surunner.sh (Permission denied). What does this mean? I know im rooted since titanium backup is working and superuser is asking permission for stuff.

You don't use RSD, its not a SBF, you download it to your phone, rename it to "update.zip", go into recovery and select "Apply SDCARD:update.zip" or "Apply SDINTERNAL:update.zip" depending on where you saved it. Then you select reboot, and your done!

Lost root

Ok, so I was installing the ubthrottle script and it didn't go as well as planned. I have lost root access. Superuser.apk is still there so if I try to reroot the phone it fails at the end because the apk still exsists. I can't get to the BSR so I can't restore any of my backups. Obviously I will probably have yo sbf and start over. The only bad thing about all of that is the only internet access I have is via my phone and don't have an sbf locally so when I download it, it takes a huge ammount of data. Anyways if there is another solution let me know

I guess what I was trying to say was, before you flashed the mod onto your phone, boot into BSR, nandroid backup and then flash it. I'm assuming you had to boot into BSR to flash the mod? Not familiar with the mod you were talking about.
Anyways, once you SBFed back and rooted, you would have been able to reinstall SBR and then nandroid recover your previous installation. That's what I meant.
Anyways, glad to see you're back up and running.
