hey guys as i can see currently there are many duplicate files... FULL FTFs and then pre-rooted system.img files... as i am sure u will appreciate almost 95% of the content of these files is the same...
i am aware that there are two kinds of users here... ones who want plain FULL FTF so they need not worry abt unlocking bootloader and others who have unlocked bootloader and need to download the FULL FTF and again the pre-rooted system.img... which frankly is horrible as it consumes lots of bandwidth (almost 1.2 GB+)...
here is what i suggest...
when posting pre-rooted system.img kindly also add an FTF which doesnt contain the system.sin... this partial FTF will become very small ~20-40MB depending on further compression RAR/7z.... so basically those with unlocked bootloader can flash the PARTIAL FTF (without system.sin) and flash the pre-rooted system.img via fastboot... thus saving precious bandwidth...
thanks for reading and let me know what u guys think
P.S.: once the bootloader bug is resolved we will have auto-rooting kernels, so u wont need to worry abt making pre-rooted system.img files

Yes I'm using older version. It fails to flash any system.sin when flashing FTF, and when flashing kernels it says the device must be rooted first. was on cm13 and when I wanted to revert back and flash older Android version it fooked up. I have other 3 or 4 xplays and they reverted back from cm13 custom partition just fine..
second on reup request if possible
Sorry for the late response, i never deleted it from my Mega account and i was not aware the links where broken.
I moved on from this phone long ago so i don't check the forum very often, but the file is now available once more for those with bricks.
Thanks, i think this can be very helpful
Thanks for this. Needed to do a reflash to stock as something had become corrupted with mine and wouldnt load any apps. Havent used flashtool for years and was surprised that I managed to flash with windows 10 64 bits too which I wasnt expecting.

I do not have a copy of the Tmobile FTF, however since your device is a r800i ReFlash should work for you and changes it to a non branded Xperia Play.
Firstly, sorry for bad english. Although I'll try to do my best here, I'm not american, nor english and I'm not very used with your language. My problem is simple and have been asked here before. The problem is that they guy who asked help wasn't very specific with his problem.
I have a ST25A, a latin american version of our Xperia U, which differs from your ST25i in its baseband (the modem). The ROMs we find here are all for ST25i and the baseband included is for the ST25i. Actually it kinda works with the ST25A model, but the signal is weak (even worse if you're not richie enough to pay for the best mobile service, which is my case).
Then I tried to flash the original ROM baseband for the ST25a, but for some reason, I wasn't able to boot my cellphone in flashmode. I tried everything I could try all around xda and other forums. Nothing worked. So, I couldn't use Flashtools to flash the baseband.
In another attempt, I tried to convert the original ROM from FTF (Sony format), to CWM, but I wasn't able to do that by myself (I'm not pro at this stuff and a friend of mine who knows about it a little better than me couldn't help either).
So I'm here creating this thread as my last attempt to have my ST25a with a CyanogenMod ROM, because without the right baseband it won't be possible. Below is a link of Sony's ST25a stock ROM:
http://sdrv.ms/1fDwMh1
(It's uploaded in my Skydrive account, so it shall not be a problem to download it)
I'm here to ask someone to convert it into something I can flash the baseband in my Sony Xperia U without needing the flashtool. To open the FTF file I used WinRAR (that actually seems to open every container format).
I don't know if I made myself clear, but it's not only a problem of mine, it probably is a problem all latin american owner of a Xperia U will have. If someone can help to extract the baseband and give me a tip on how to make it work in my Xperia U, I would really appreciate. If I didn't make myself clear enough for you to understand my problem, don't hesitate asking.
Thanks for your time and sorry for disturbing, oh, and Merry Christmas, ppl!
Peace,
Eduardo Barth.
PS: Using my friend account as my account doesn't have permission to post links.
You realy should explain what the problem is and how it is related to CynogenMod which for what I know change the system only.
What do you want a ST25i rom with ST25a modem? just copy the modem from the i ROM to the a ROM.
You do not realy need WinRAR or any other program, FTF is just a zip file, if you rename it to .zip you can just copy the files in windows explorer then rename it back to FTF (in command line)
Or you can just exclude the modem from flash when you flash ST25i RON and flash the modem only from the ST25a ROM.

The problem is that Sony's files have .SIN extension, which is not compatible with CWM recovery. I tried to convert it to CWM zip and had no success with that.
The main problem is that my cellphone doesn't recognize's the Flashtool, because it have a problem with it's USB connector. I can't simply flash the baseband, I need to convert the baseband form .SIN (sony) to CWM files. There are some tutorials that explain how to do that for the system partition, but I tried to do the steps for the baseband and it didn't work. That's why I'm here, trying to find help to do that.
My advise to you is, if you cannot flash with flashtool don't mess with your phone because if something will go wrong, abd something will go wrong, you lose your phone.

Yes, I know. The problem is that my phone currently is with a wrong baseband (modem) and the signal is always poor to gone, so I already have a dead brick in hands...
Anyway, thank you for your attention.
hello guys
just a quick question
i have noticed that when you flash stock firmware via flashtool running in flash mode it gives you an option to flash kernel or not.
so that got me thinking
i know that with my bootloader unlock status as no i cant flash another kernel but what if we was to convert the file to a flashable .ftf file.
if this can be done i think that it would help out a lot of people and would also mean people with locked bootloaders can try jb or even kitkat roms, atm i want to overclock the cpu but cant on the stock kernel.
if anyone knows of any possible way of doing it please let me know
cheers
damian
All flashtool ftf files are signed by sony so if it is not signed by sony the device would abort the flash
Sent from my Xperia P using Tapatalk
As @AndroidNoob69 said. The files are signed by sony and passes a signature verification which cannot allow us to use custom ROMs as FTFs. This was possible in Xperia 2010 devices which didn't required the sign verification(or was easily bypassable) but this is not possible from Xperia 2011 series.
Cheers,
AJ
Introduction
Hello everyone, once I wanted to come back to stock. So I was looking for a clean pure stock ROM, without ANY mods. I didn't find what I was looking for - most ROMs(even when they claim they are pure stock) are modified, and they don't give users the pure stock experience. Also they have some issues due to missing symlinks in updater-scripts - like wifi mac issues, or baseband issues. So I used stock partition images to create a ROM, that's flashed just like PCC, SUS or Flashtool does, and I succeded in that. So now you can flash full clean stock ROM with all things like appslog, LTALabel, FOTAKernel and baseband without a PC So, now off to the races.

F.A.Q
Q: How is it different form other stock ROMs on this forum?
A: It's cleaner, it's unmodified, it's even ODEXed - so if you want to return the phone for warranty, you can flash this straight from recovery.
Q: It's odexed? So how we can deodex it?
A: You can use some guides on the forum, and you can use this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735156
Q: Why aren't you deodexing the ROM "out of the box"?
A: Because it's Flashtool OTG - a project that allows you to go to Sony service center and when you are walking to it, you can flash the ROM and get your warranty back . And one more thing - most of the users don't even need deodexing, and odexed apps are usually faster.
Q: Is it different from flashing with Flashtool?
A: It doesn't use PC and it's safer, because it flashes files directly on the phone - so no electricity cuts and BSODs will hold you back from getting to stock.
Q: How is the battery life?
A: Same on stock, because it's... stock!
Q: Can I convert my own ROM to the Flashtool OTG format?
A: Yes, the instructions will be in the second post.

As always, I like to visit threads and post by Steve - always something to offer the community.
An honest question:
previously I used customised "stock" rom simply because 4.3 could not be rooted (has moved on to CM11).
Now that we have towelroot, wouldn't it be easier to simply install official stock and root?

Yes, now as we have towelroot it's easy to root, but maybe on upcoming firmwares it won't be that easy, and then some weird kernel flashing or "prerooted packages" will be present. Basically this ROM is for people that want fast switch back to stock. Also rooting is faster with that method and works regardless of Android versions.

To request just post the version of firmware you want. And btw, I want this thread to be clean, so no requests about country specific or carrier firmwares, sorry for that, it would take a lot of time to make them all, and you have a nice tutorial in the second post. So I will only add CE or global firmwares to the first post.
So, the. 207 is rolling out. There is no CE version available ATM, but I want to give you the firmware already - here it is:
https://mega.co.nz/#!OMgTxaSb!lcx7M7_Yz2lD8Sif_JQBZ5wMNAkgTXSw_4O3qyNERWw
It's T-Mobile AU variant. I won't add this to the OP though(I'll update the OP with CE variant).
Actually comming from a Stock Based ROM it is not needed to perform a factory reset... Only from CM or any LBL (or UBL) rom

i am on unlocked bootloader..i want to relock my bootloader..i have tried relocking it and tried to flash stock ftf but flashtoll says to have fsc script..i dont know what to do to relock my bootloader and have stock software...will flashing this zip helps me and can i flash it on unlocked bootloader?
hello all.
all the info out there is really confuse me.
some one please give me a valid links to here.
please correct me if im wrong somewhere in my understanding:
i own xperia Z2. my version is 5.1.1 stock.
the sound is crazy low ( after i put the max db at setting-sound...), so i searched what can i do about it, i've found there is a mod that fix this. as i understand, for that mod i should have recovery and rooted device, so i thought to myself "hey, if im gonna do root and install a recovery ill also will flash a nice rom"...
so i tried to follow some guides here but they are realy confused me.
at the links it says the root won't work for any device...
also it says it is gonna work for lockboot or something...
more over there is many methods and i dont know what is the simplest one.
there is more info that realy confused me and i want to be 100% sure im doing the correct steps...
I know i need to root and install a recovery, then i i need to pick some rom and flash it ( right?)
so please give me a links to here for what i need to flash a rom for my sony xperia z2 device ( v 5.1.1 stock).
ty for helping.
1.
The way i'd root my device on a locked bootloader is
- download flashtool and a older Firmware FTF
- FLASH the older firmware to my device and on the older firmware use a root tool to root my device
- I can now use root access to install recovery (XZdualrecovery)
- Download PRFcreator and a newer FTF with a superSU flashable zip
- Use prfcreator to make a flashable zip out of the new FW( include kernel and and all )
- copy it to device and flash it and be sure to wipe caches and data per big flash (e.g heavy FW changes)
- also google around for some things and make sure it all matches your device
(FTFs and xz recovery)
Also search for TA backup it may be useful for before you unlock your bootloader if you do
2/1. Use xda search tools to search Z2 section for root tool scripts
2. FTFs can be found in general section
3. You may want to add xz recovery to your upgrade flashable zip
4. Feel free to ask any aditional questions if you need more direction or detail
5. Unlocking your bootloader voids your warrenty (and wipes TA) if you restore your TA sony cant tell if you have unlocked your bootloader or not
(it also relocks your BL upon restoreing so be on a stock kernel)
what is FTF? is it the android version i have?
why i need an older one? i cant flash with 5.1.1?

FTF
I dont know its definition but its a full Firmware with included partitions so its essentially a factory firmware package
Kindof
Ita FW version and android verson
- Android rootkits use security exploits which google or sony may patch respectively
Rootkits dont work with newer FWs you will have to try 4.4.2 or the 55FWs
That guide looks good
After flashing if be sure to download a Newer FTF that matches your ROM version and be sure you flash only kernel
(exclude all) (some roms may not include a kernel)
To flash a rom after that one you can reboot into recovery and flash any stock based rom (and stock kernel to match Fw Version if it changes heavily)
Rootkits dont work with newer FWs you will have to try 4.4.2 or the 55FWs

55fws i ment the last numbers of a build number
The bugs that rootkits exploit are mostly fixed on newer Firmware versions (fw for short)
You need to downgrade to 55 or 402 fw to use some of the rootkits
i following those steps:
Flash official Sony's 4.4.2 17.1.2.A.0.314 with flashtool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2162907)
Root using any method
Install NUT dual recovery (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2261606) or the recovery of your choice.
Reboot in recovery, Wipe Data, Cache and Dalvik Cache.
Flash the rom.
Follow AROMA Installer.
so i went to do step 1:
but there- it is written:
With this release, before unlocking first time, root your device
so? i need to do step2 first, then step1?
That comment is about unlocking you bootloader. So no step 1 then step 2.
